Hello everyone! I just uploaded some Pokemon DS rom hacking tutorial vids and wanted to post them here in case they help anyone out. They are definitely not high level stuff, mostly a showcase of how to use tools like Tinke, Kiwi, PokeDS/Pis, DS Text Editor, and PPRE for trainer editing. So more of a "rom hacking for dummies" kind of guide. Topics Discussed: Intro: Things to Know Before You Begin Pt 1: Overworld Sprites (including the elusive HM summon sprite) Pt 2: Trainer Front/Back sprites and VS faces before a gym battle Pt 2.5: Easier Editing w/ RECN Files (Aka: NCER) Pt 3: Pokemon Sprites Pt 3.5: Advance Pokemon Edits Pt 3.75: Gen IV Sprite Editor Pt 4: Text Editing w/ DSPRE Pt 5: Opening, Intro, Ending locations Pt 6: Trainer Editing w/ DSPRE Pt 7: Pokemon Icons Pt 7.5: Pokemon Icon Pallets Pt 8: How to use Photoshop and Graphic Gale Pt 9: Diamond/Pearl Battle Sprites Pt 10: Trainer Cards (Both Gen 4 and 5) Pt 11: HG SS Pokemon Follow Overworld Sprites Pt 12: 3D BMD0 Overworld Cutscene Trainer Sprites Pt 13: Pokemon Cries to Pretty Much Anything Pt 14: Quick Color Changes with Console Tool Pt 15: Wild Pokemon Editing w/ Advance DSPRE Tips Map Editing series: Pt 1: Make Your First Map with PDSMS Pt 1.5: Making maps with PDSMS 2.2 Pt 2: How to Import Custom Maps Pt 2.5: Reshaping a World (Matrix Editing) Pt 3: Adding Buildings to Maps with PDSMS Pt 4: How to Make Warps Scripting series: Pt 1: Walking you through my first script! Pt 1.5: Updating My Example Script for Any DSPRE Version If you have any questions, leaving a youtube comment would be a much faster way to reach me.

I am working on a ROM hack of SoulSilver and I don't know where to go next. I have 3 things I am looking for help with. I want to add some Team Rocket events in Kanto. Basically Team Rocket would be in all the caves of Kanto trying to find new Pokemon and it would end with the hero having to beat them again on their way to Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. I was wondering if this is possible. I also want to change how the Elite 4 interact with you when you go through the Elite 4 the second time. It has always bugged me that they act like they don't know who you are despite the fact that you have already beaten them. The last thing I want to do is eliminate all the rock climb areas and turn them in to stairs so they can be accessed throughout the game and you don't have to have a Pokemon with rock climb to get to Red. Can anyone help with any of these?

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/GEMS_Wifi Why I can't make it: I wish I could code these things myself, but I'm not really much of a programmer myself and don't know how to use DevKitPro or any good at C++ for compiling homebrew apps. Also, I don't own any compatible Wireless devices (RT2500~60 Chipset) with for capturing things like DS and Wii Signals other than the devices their selves. What it would do (More to come): A Homebrew Application strictly for sending Generation IV & V (Even though there isn't anything yet, It'll probably be fairly easy to dump them from Saves with Hex Editor just like I've done for HG/SS before programs were able to do it for you in Saves. Generation V should and will have WCs like GIV despite opinions) Wonder Cards wirelessly to the DS through *.pcd files. Having a Folder and selecting which Wonder Card you want to Distribute. Things to be added later: Wonder Card Picture Previewer (like Pokémon Mystery Gift Editor and it's Show Card Preview feature) [Vertical and Horizontal for 16:9 and 4:3 TVs] Cry Sounds when in Distribution Mode PKMN Sprite (Could have detection for Wonder Card Distribution Value, if Platinum shared, Platinum Sprite and so forth. Maybe a Box above the Wonder Card display) Throbber (Could have the PKMN Sprite Animate once sending the Wonder Card, or a simple square throbber) Settings to restrict Wonder Card's Distribution Value for each Game Version (Distributions for certain versions / All Versions) Wonder Card Queuer (Press a button to move onto the next Wonder Card in a folder, or select which Cards to Distribute, and hit a button to move on to the next queued Wonder Card) Wonder Card Capture Mode (Capture a Wonder Card that's in hosting mode and saves it as a PCD file) [Thanks to trance for the idea!] Concept Layouts (Might change the BG to a Darker Blue Tiled one for less eye strain): [Wii] Before Distributing (Press A to Distribute w/Animate and Sound Cry): [DS](Animated GIF) Before Distributing (Press R for Card Switch, A to Distribute w/Animate and Sound Cry on Card): How it would be useful: Anything you could think of really. Not having a Flash Cart but a Homebrew Channel on the Wii with a Retail Copy and DS. I mainly use custom Distribution Roms with Patchers to send my Wonder Cards to my games. I'm quite tired of using these things even though it's basic as can be. Plus it would conserve space not having multiple files that are 8MB/1.5MB. Where as it would take up 856 Bytes times around how many files you have on your SD/microSD/microSDHC Card. Conclusion: In the end it's also just as legitimate (Legal, for people using that terminology) getting the Event as long as you had the Wonder Card straight from the Event. It's a steal, and as great as acquiring an Event legitimately like PBR Pikachu for instance. It's the perfect bargin and solution for people not wanting to fiddle around with their Networks for the GTS exploits, and want a generated Pokemon with a different Nature randomly. If developers didn't decide on it originally because of some single Event that was made up by a fan, then why not a Wii Version? It's not like anyone is going to take their Wii to an Event and distribute some derogatory thing. Besides, PP does have some programs that deal with Wonder Card files at least. Why not? If it hasn't been thought of before. This is something to keep in mind though. I have a contact that has knowledge of sending Wireless Signal activations through compiling his own custom applications to a few DS games of the Rockman (Megaman) Series of games. I'll ask him if nobody else knows much about Wonder Card signals. Either that or I'll purchase a PCI Card that has the Chipset itself eventually for reading the WC Signals and attempt to figure it all out on my own. Both ways will take a long time probably. Thanks for reading.

Anyone have any experience using AR DS with Windows Vista or 7? Mine worked when I had XP, but now that I have 7, I can install the Code Manager Software just fine, but my computer can't find any drivers for the NDS Link (the USB thing). Anyone have any advice?

Say one thing I can't figure out is, is it possible to trade between and 3rd Gen games using DS or DS Lite for some reason I keep thinking someone told me it was supposed to be possible. If it is please comment and say something

Okay, so I'll explain what I need help with. Basically, if I want to enter a cheat into my AR DS, I have to manually enter them. Even if the code is 180 lines long. I've downloaded the ARDS code manager Soldjermon provided in a thread. Sad part is, the ARDS code manager we get from these links is v1.01. Isn't it supposed to be the latest one? I've clicked on software update, so it would download the latest version. But I only got 1.05. I've read on these forums that I should have the ARCM version 1.52 and higher with ARDS v1.60. Where can I find v1.52 of the ARCM? Or if someone has it, and would put it in a zip file and add it as an attached file to his comment, it would be great. Well, thanks in advance.

After much turmoil over rom patches that only work on Windows, I have created a rom patcher that works in OS X. 6jRKw8P86dc http://rapidshare.com/files/284142416/DS_Rom_Patcher.zip http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PEN7XOAE View larger video here I made this to work with Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, and I have tested it with both KazoWAR's and Raqib12's patches. In theory, this patcher can patch any DS rom that uses xdelta patches. Note: I could not find a freezing patch file for HeartGold/SoulSilver. There are 2 out there, but they are .exe files, not patch files. In order to have a HG/SS with the freezing fix, you must either start with a pre-patched rom(Search on Google) or use a patch that has the freezing fix in it. I ask that the makers of the translation patches add freeze-protection in their patches, or that the makers of the freezing patches make their patches availiable as a patch file.

Hi! I want to start manipulating my save files to create wondercard events. I understand that you can save a save file to your PC to manipulate it and then re-save it back to the DS cart. Can someone tell me if it is possible to save the save file on a spare DS cart (on a game cart that I don't use)? If that sort of thing is possible, is it possible to save a wondercard on a DS cart so that it acts a distribution cart? My ideal outcome would be to save a distribution cart wondercard onto a spare DS cart and use that in another DS to send the wondercard 'legitimately' to my Pokemon games.

Hi guys, the question I want to make is if it is possible to connect the DS with the PC. I use Pokemon Platinum but I don't know how to take the .sav file from the DS to the PC.

Has anyone ever played so much on the DS, or any other system, that one of the buttons break? I have, and now my R button is useless

Hi there  I've had a look round and there are not any other topics that cover my question i can see... Just starting to get into competitive Poke'mon battling on DS and Wii. Thing is, I have an R4 cart (Real Original as far as i can tell) but as some here have probably worked out R4 wont connect to Battle Revolution on the Wii. This is really annoying since I just bought the game and playing with the rental passes get tiring very quickly, and my DS can't connect to my router due to the security not being WEP... Good for me that I have some cash spare to buy another cart for my Lite that is capable of connecting to Battle Revolution. I've heard that the Cyclo DS Revolution is the cart of choice. Just wanted to see if any of you guys might know about it. Cheers for any help :grog:

Just in case you didn't see the front page: http://www.projectpokemon.org/news/150/New%20Pokémon%20Game%20in%20Develoment So, what do you guys think? Personally I think this is Masuda's notion of a more action-y Pokémon game coming to fruition. Whether or not it's a spin-off game is anyone's guess, although they've never introduced "new Pokémon" in such a game, so... hmm. FYI, normally I would expect the "News-Bot" to post this in the forums, but it didn't... possibly part of the changes from the site and forums upgrade? I dunno. So it seemed like this was the appropriate place to start a forums-based discussion... if I'm wrong, let me know, guys!

Hello all. As you may know, the Project Pokémon Wiki has a (rather extensive) documentation on the Diamond and Pearl save file structure. However, there is quite a bit of information missing from this page. Additionally, there is no documentation up regarding the Platinum save file structure. It would be of great benefit to save hacking developers (Sabresite and myself for example), as well as the wiki and site as a whole, if we could get these structures mapped out. And of course, anything that helps Sabresite helps PokéMod. If you have a means for extracting your Diamond / Pearl / Platinum save file(s), and a hex editor (like HxD), you can help map the save file structure by simply making a copy of your save file, making a change, saving, and comparing the previous save with the current save. (By the way, one of our members, evandixon, has created a toolkit to be used for save file mapping.) Additionally, I am going to create a small tool within the next few days with the express purpose of fixing the save file checksums in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. With this tool and a hex editor, you can edit the save file manually, and then load the save to see what changed. EDIT: And here it is. Things this thread has accomplished so far: There is a long list of things to look for specifically, and here are a few in no particular order (admins and mods feel free to edit this list): I will be constantly adding to and editing this post for more details. If anyone is interested in helping out or has any questions, post here, PM me, meet me on IRC, or check out our social group. If we get organized, we can have this thing done in no time, and that will ensure that we are ready to crack HeartGold and SoulSilver when the time comes. DateTimeBytes.zip Journal.zip

Hi Guys, Upon looking through my AR list, I noticed that the Wild Pokemon are Shiny cheat says "Do Not Breed!"? Does this only apply when using the code, or can I never breed said Pokémon? Also, does SCV's shiny encounter code have the same rules as above? If not, does anyone know how to make it work for the UK version of platinum? Thanks, Matt. Edit: 1 Final Question: Do these codes apply a preset personality value to the encountered Pokémon? Or does the encountered Pokémon still get a kind-of-unique (by Shiny Pokémon standards) Personality value? If needed, here is SCV's Shiny Encounter code:

I'm sick of blowing the shoulder pads. I need to open it up and remove whatevers clogging them, cuz now BOTH my buttons are being affected. Curse Nintendo for their weird three-prong screws though. How can I open my DS by using anything but the proper screwdriver (cuz I have no idea where to get one)
