  1. lol, I wish it were that easy for me... to get to a TRU (historically, anyway) for an event I'd need to drive a few hours to cross the border and to go one in NY somewhere. Hopefully that won't be the case for future events, though... TRU Canada finally participated in an event (the Secret Key), so perhaps they'll do it again in the future.
  2. If you're still looking for a legit Wishmaker Jirachi, I have distinct specimens comprising 16 of the 25 different natures (the legacy of restarting Ruby many times, getting as far as receiving the Pokedex to receive Jirachi off the bonus disc, trading him over to Emerald; rinse and repeat). I've got Jirachis with the following natures: Brave, Adament, Naughty, Docile, Relaxed, Impish, Jolly, Naive, Mild, Quiet, Bashful, Rash, Gentle, Sassy, Careful, & Quirky.
  3. Yeah, but that's still kind of a roundabout way of doing it. I'd hope Nintendo will maintain the slot-2 functionality that D/P/Pt enjoyed, for those of us who weren't so rash as to dump our DS Lites the moment the DSi came out. It would be cool if they even enhanced it... having some special in-game event activated the first time you inserted either of the game's direct predecessors (eg. FireRed or LeafGreen), with the Elite 4 beaten (so people can't just run out and buy a used copy of the game to quickly do the job).
  4. Also, why not just keep it because the potential trade-in value is completely negligable, and pointless?
  5. You can't be too much of a purist... if they had both, it wouldn't exactly be changing anything as much as adding. Red could still be in the same place as usual, and the female equivalent could be occupying some other location in Johto or Kanto. Personally, I think it'd be kind of cool to have more than just a single hyper-advanced trainer (2, if you count your own player) in a region. If the game stays that boringly true to the original, without many of the innovations this franchise has seen in the decade since Gold and Silver were first released, it won't sell well at all with the new generation of players... they'll be bored to tears by it.
  6. The Emerald cloning trick is, in fact, the easiest to use and with absolutely no risk of losing your Pokemon. You can use it to clone up to 5 Pokemon at a time, or a nearly unlimited number of items. I'm not sure exactly the technical details, but it works because of the way in which Emerald needs to save data before entering into the Battle Tower section of the Battle Frontier. Deposit the Pokemon you want to clone from your party into the PC at the Battle Tower (5 at most), and then exit hte PC and save your game normally. After this go back into the PC, and withdraw the Pokemon. From there, go to the nearest desk and talk to the person... go through the steps to enter into a challenge up to the point where it says "To Continue, it's necessary to save your game. Is this OK?". After choosing yes, there's a slight pause and then the regular save menu comes up... at this point DON'T save, but don't say No either. Just shut the game off, and restart. When you get back into the game, the cloned Pokemon should be both in your party, and in the PC. This is due to the fact that during the pause before the save menu comes up, the game actually does save the information to do with your party, items bag, etc... it just doesn't save the PC boxes; so when you shut the game down without choosing "No", you retain your updated party info, in addition to the non-updated PC box (where the Pokemon are still in the PC). That's why you need to save the game after depositing the Pokemon you want cloned, before withdrawing them again. Here's a video on Youtube showing how to do it, if you're a visual person: It works the same way for items, except you can clone much more than 5 at a time. You simply need to make the Pokemon in the PC box hold the items, save your game, take the items back into your bag, and then go through the above steps with the person at the desk. Upon starting back up, the items will be in your bag and attached to the pokemon in your PC. I've made hundreds of nuggets, master balls, heart scales, and so on 30 or 60 at a time by using a couple full PC boxes.
  7. The excessive use of "XD" is starting to make this thread unintelligible . What do you mean by that? Very little is impossible for Nintendo to program into a game, provided it falls within the technical limits of the system. Including the Pal Park would be an extremely simple matter; the number of DSi's floating around out there is irrelevant. There are still more people using DS and DS Lites. Speak for yourself; I've bought several things from eBay, and provided you pay attention to feedback/etc., it's a perfectly reliable system. Precisely why I Pal Park using Emerald, exclusively.... when I want something from my Ruby or FireRed games, I trade to Emearld first and use the Battle Frontier cloning trick. I never have to give up my legendaries when Pal Parking to Diamond or Platinum.
  8. What I do hope Nintendo does with these is stay fairly true to the upgrades in item management/bag pockets and stuff that we've seen with D/P/Pt, in addition to the overall feel of those games. The one complaint I had about FireRed/LeafGreen compared to R/S/E was that it felt a bit awkward and clunky... on more than one occassion, I'd accidentally hit the L or R button, and bring up that stupid in-game help system. I also didn't like the fact that TMs and Berries didn't have their own bag pockets, but required you to go to individual cases for them in the Key Items pocket. Pretty minor changes, yes, but they made the gameplay feel a bit weird compared to what I'd gotten used to with R/S/E. I think they wanted to try and stay true to the original games design a bit too much, and really stripped down the convenience that the item bag had developed. Also, I really hope the PokeGear receives significant upgrades to make use of the touchscreen of the DS, and is given some resemblance to the Poketch... after being spoiled by the Dowsing Machine in D/P/Pt, I don't think I could ever go back to the conventional Itemfinder. Maybe the game could make a point of mentioning that Silph Co. is employing a visiting consultant from the Poketch Company in Sinnoh, helping with the redesign of the PokeGear (of which you recieve the prototype model).
  9. It'd be cool to see a special edition Pokemon DSi... the only one of those pictured ones I've got at the moment is the Gold/Silver Game Boy color (which is awesome, though). I'll probably pick up the Dialga/Palka DS Lite off eBay sometime soon, though. I've also got a few of the non-Pokmon special edition handhelds... the NES Edition GBASP, and the 20th Anniversary Famicom GBMicro (which is a pretty cool unit, IMO). Yet the camera won't enable transfer of GBA-gen Pokemon to the new games, and let's face it; the thing is pretty gimmicky. Regardless, I'm sure they will include some DSi-exclusive features; probably including something with the camera. It wouldn't exactly take much for them to also include a Pal Park, though... there are a ton of people out there still using DS Lites, and maybe even regular DS's. And these games are as much sequels to FireRed and LeafGreen as they are extensions of D/P/Pt... I think it would be appropriate to keep the migrate functionality.
  10. Well, if Platinum is about 99MB of a 128MB cart, then the full Johto and Kanto with taking anything like Kanto's Safari zone could probably theoretically fit onto a 256MB one. They could probably get the Sevii Islands, plus a few new islands onto it as well.
  11. I'm hoping the Kanto Safari Zone will be intact, along with most of the other things that made the region a little too barren in exchange for being able to fit on the old Game Paks. Also, since a lot of people probably don't have FireRed or LeafGreen, it would be nice if they restored Cerulean Cave. Including at least some of the Sevii Islands would be cool, too. Hopefully the Mystery Gift event Wonder Cards for these games stay compatible with the system used for D/P/Pt, in that it's possible to modify the allowed game flag and either integrate them into your other games (unless it's for an item that doesn't exist in D/P/Pt) through Pokesav, or the gamestop deoxys method
  12. Stadium 2 was my favourite between the two, and I still play it every once in a while. It'd be great to see it get released for either the Wii Shop Channel, or as a DS game (it could transfer Pokemon over from Gen III using the GBA-slot).
  13. I don't mind the concept of some legendaries being subordinate to others... though Gen IV certainly pushed this concept to the max, interrelating pretty much every major legendary. I don't really care for the Regi trio or Regigigas, but that's mostly because they look ridiculous. I've always called them the Legendary Beasts, and personally I think that works pretty well. However, if 2 out of 3 resemble felines more than dogs, then I'd say an official label (if not Beasts, which works for both) would be more likely to be Legendary Cats. Whether one sounds more "fierce" than the other depends mostly on the perception of the individual. IMO, the various wild varieties of large cats are much more fierce (not to mention stronger) than wild dogs/wolves; tigers in particular are very large and solid animals. Cats are also just better
  14. I've been wondering about this myself. From taking a look at the PCD files for the various events in Pokesav, and going into "Edit" for the Pokemon, it seems the PID is listed as 1 for the vast majority of event Pokemon. Is this a flag for the game to randomly generate a PID when the player receives the Pokemon? And similarly, the IVs are usually all listed as 0... does that also denote a random generation? And with a few events (the Japanese "Strongest Electivire", etc.), I've noticed the Pokemon in the PCD file has a preset PID, but the IVs are left up to the game... why is that?
  15. Making it available over Wi-Fi as well makes that pretty pointless, though. Most households have wireless these days, and for those that don't it's pretty easy to get access to elsewhere. But they'll be a lot of people who don't buy Platinum until after the TRU and Wi-Fi giveaways, and they'll have no way of getting the Secret Key unless there's another event in the future; and friends who may've had Platinum and got the Secret Key won't even be able to share the WC.
  16. If the printout was precise enough, probably. There was also some tool floating around that was able to generate the dot code used by the E-Reader... though I'm not sure what kind of input it took. The only E-Reader card I have is the Eon Ticket I bought off eBay back when the event was held; still with the brochure in perfect condition. These days, they're going on eBay for quite a bit more than I paid. There's one up to $46. Other Pokemon E-Reader cards seem readily available off eBay, though; maybe I'll pick them up.
  17. Yep, I mentioned this in the main thread on this event... for some reason, NOA decided not to allow any redistributions with this one.
  18. That's awesome; I've been looking forward to this event. Does the actual item stay in your bag after catching Shaymin, or is this one of those things you're "delivering" to Oak.
  19. The Canadian Secret Key is being released at the same time as the American one, and will likely be identical anyway; so it would've needed no modification. If he'd modified the Japanese one, then I really doubt he would've changed the allowed redistributions from five to none. A rip-off needn't always refer to money... anyway, I've paid for free events before (I bought the Eon Ticket e-reader card in pristine condition from eBay). I'm merely commenting on the fact that while the Japanese WC (also a free event) allowed for giving out the thing to a few of your friends (possibly people who didn't buy the game until after the giveaway ended), the North American version doesn't.
  20. I just took a closer look at this WC using Pokesav, and it apparently allows for no redistribution to friends; whereas the Japanese Secret Key Wonder Card allowed you to share it with 5 people. Kind of a rip-off, IMO.
  21. What kind of error message did it give you? I was able to use the Japanese WC for the Member Card on my U.S. Diamond... haven't tried it on Platinum yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
  22. I'd like a game where you get to play from the opposite side... like a Team Rocket grunt that has to work his/her way up through the ranks. It could incorporate the shadow pokemon concept from the Gamecube-era games, as well.
  23. You might just need to replace the battery.
  24. I think my favourite is Crystal... Generation II had the coolest new Pokemon, I think. And being able to go back to Kanto (even if it was a barren wasteland) was fun.
