  1. I'm not sure, as I haven't shopped at a TRU in years. I don't buy Pokemon merchandise other than the games, and my only motivation to ever go to a TRU and look around might be if they decide to hold a giveaway. But Pokemon is still quite popular in Canada, proportionate to our smaller population of course. How different do you think our buying habits really are from Americans? Being more left-wing doesn't stop us from buying a bunch of crap we don't need, lol. There are at least 70 TRU locations across the country; 29 of those in Ontario alone. In the Greater Toronto Area there are 3 stores in Toronto proper, 1 in Etobicoke, 1 in Scarborough, 1 in North York, and 2 in Mississauga. Are you saying your friend got a Pickachu-colored Pichu at a Canadian Best Buy? Or is this an American friend? Maybe it was someone who got the WC from this site, made a distro ROM and hung around in a Best Buy parking lot, lol. I have to admit I've often been tempted to do that outside of a EB Games or Gamespot here, when yet another event comes along that they don't get. Someone might as well distribute the thing, if they're not going to.
  2. It's not just a matter of them not doing the events at the same time... or an event being distributed somewhere different in Canada. Almost no events ever come to Canada, period. The only one that ever has, as far as I know, was the Secret Key for Rotom... and that was given out at the exact same time in Canadian TRU locations as it was in American TRU. That was a bit pointless, though, as the same thing was given out over Wi-Fi at the same time for all North American carts. I'm not sure who owns who, however I've been told by employees in a local Gamestop that both the EB Games and Gamestop name are owned by the same parent company; and that company recently chose to start opening new stores under the Gamestop name as opposed to EB Games. I imagine that company is the same as the one that operates the same stores in the US, very much like how Canada's Future Shop is owned by Best Buy USA, despite the fact there are also Best Buy stores in Canada which are treated as "competition" to Future Shop. And I have e-mailed The Pokemon Company directly, after being told by Nintendo's customer support that they're the ones who organize giveaway events and recieved this response: They use TRU as an example, but if the same is true of Gamestop then these stores are the ones we should be directing our complaints to.
  3. There are both EB Games and Gamestops around me, however as far as I know none of them have this giveaway. Heck, there's a Gamestop in a mall no more than a 2 minute drive from my house. I suggest every Pokemon fan in Canada call the Canadian Gamestop customer service line to complain: http://www.gamestop.ca/gs/help/StoreIssue.aspx
  4. Based on past events, much of Europe will get this eventually. You guys never get it at the same time as the US, though. The real question is when will Canada get an event? Europe only gets them a bit later... we never get them at all.
  5. I imagine not until there's actually some information on the new games worthy of that level of discussion.
  6. I sincerely hope not. I prefer cartridges, just as I prefer Blu-Rays to downloadable movie and television content.
  7. That's odd... maybe it has something to do with this issue, posted a while back: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?5164-Event-Contribution-Collection&p=57947&viewfull=1#post57947 In any case, if you want the Member Card files, I've attached the English ones I downloaded from the original event site:
  8. It's great to be able to get events like this through this community, despite living in the Pokemon-deprived Canada. I swear, of all the countries that can get events, we must get the least (only 1 so far). It's completely pathetic. There are a couple Gamestops around me up here, and I really wish they we'd gotten this one... I know I'd be able to convince one of the employees to let me dump the distro cart. Ah well. Oh, and was there a Wonder Card #20? I notice the TRU Arceus was 19, and this event is 21.
  9. That sounds like an excellent idea, as personally I think far fewer people (including myself) would be inclined to discuss things much over that kind of basic comment system. As Codemonkey says, the forum itself is a much more robust area for lengthy discussions. As far as the news goes, I'm pretty excited about it. Can't wait until we hear more.
  10. Mewtwo *Perfect Forme* (when holding the item "Beserk Gene"). His current forme is only partially complete, being the result of genetic experiments by humans.
  11. That isn't quite the same as the original Member Card download I've got (according to a file compare in HxD), that I downloaded from the original event section when it was first put up. When opened in Pokesav, the one you made also seems to not have anything checked in the "Version to share with" section. This is the one I've got.
  12. The colour choices for this DSi remind me of the types of colours senior citizens choose for their cars... I'm surprised the DSi LL doesn't come in a wood veneer .
  13. I'm pretty sure the Member Card WC can only officially be recieved on a Platinum cart, yeah.
  14. Ah, finally  Been waiting all day for this. Hope you had good luck and got an employee that let you dump the cart.
  15. I'm eagerly anticipating this one; it's too bad nobody with the ability to dump a save has gotten one yet. I'm almost tempted to drive down across the border to NY myself for this one, and try to bribe a TRU employee into letting me dump the ROM, lol.
  16. My methods are similar to CuleX's. Both of my actual game paks (Diamond and Platinum) are untouched by Pokesav/AR/etc. I keep modified *.sav files (with maxed out items, etc) of both on my flashcart, and that's what I'll use if I want to edit a Pokemon I've caught. If I have a Pokemon in Platinum I"ll trade it to Diamond on my flashcart (or vice versa), edit it and then trade it back to the real cart.
  17. Can't Pokesav accomplish that? In the "Event Edit" section, you can reactivate the in-game events flags. What I did for this was backup my saves as I progressed through the game. I'd save standing in front of the legendary (or in the case of Mesprit, Cresselia, and the Kanto birds... I saved prior to releasing them to the wild) and then backed up the save file before continuing on. I've kept those backups on my computer in case I even want to go back to capture another.
  18. I've searched on Google, Bulbapedia and various other places and can't find any information on the specific events that the final 2 (or final 3, for Diamond and Pearl) Poketch apps were distributed with. Can anyone here tell me which Wonder Cards they were given out with, or even if all 3 have been distributed yet? And if they all have been given out already, are these events going to be for download once the event section here comes back up?
  19. Ugh, this one's yet another dissapointment for me. It's so irritating how the vast majority of console-based Pokemon games are dull. What people really want is either a 3-D version of the main series games, or a decent remake/update of the Stadium-type game (hopefully that would include a real storage system, which Ranch certainly isn't). Yet those are the games they can't seem to make. Also, I find the typo in Newsbot's post to be rather amusing, in an ironic way. Reviled, indeed, hehe.
  20. Ah, thanks for the info. As for your question, I've been busy with a ton of schoolwork, lol. Yeah, I have read that one. The glitch (which affects Ruby/Sapphire as well, but not Emerald) has something to do with the roamer stats not being transferred properly after you catch them; limiting most of the IVs to 0... I think one can be as high as 7, and another 31. I'm not sure if v1.1 of Fr/Lg had this glitch, or if only Emerald was released late enough to get the fix... but I intend to find out after Pal Parking the roamer I catch in the FireRed game I'm currently playing (which is on a 1.1 game pak). Ah well, I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with only being able to catch a single specimen of each Legendary Beast (two, if you count the ones in Colosseum). For the EONs, at least, I have Latias and Latios on Southern Island in Ruby and Emerald, respectively. So there can always be more of them.
  21. Wasn't sure whether to put this question in the R/S/E section or Fr/Lg, since I'm asking about both sets of Gen III games. I was hoping someone could tell me at what point in the game the stats of the roaming Pokemon are set... for Latios and Latias in R/S/E, and the Legendary Beasts in Fr/Lg. Is it after you first beat the elite 4... or upon your first encounter with them... does it vary betweeen the games? I'm asking because I'd like to know at what point I should avoid saving if I want to soft reset for different specimens of the roamers.
  22. Emerald's cloning glitch is well-documented, and incredibly useful IMO. Despite the obvious useability improvements Emerald made over R/S (more readable text, better PC functions, etc.), the cloning is another reason I tend to choose Emerald when going back to Hoenn. Most Pokemon I Pal Park make their way through Emerald at some point, to be cloned.
  23. Well, I'm going to hold out some hope that it'll be a decent game... despite Pokemon's generally poor track record on non-portable systems. Given the recent release of Ss/Hg, I think a Wii release in the same spirit as N64's Stadium 2 is in order. And hopefully this game includes an actual storage system, because Ranch really doesn't cut it. While I'd love a full 3-D Pokemon RPG, we all know that's not gonna happen.
  24. I didn't think there was anything that could generate a Restricted PID/IV set... the relationship's never been made public, has it? Anyway, wish I could help, but the only 10 Aniv Celebi's I've got are Quirky, Jolly, Impish and Naughty.
