  1. That's the least logical explanation I've read, personally; there's really no reason to be that over-sensitive just because a word sounds similar. And yeah, a guest at the Lake Valor hotel actually mentions the Tin Tower by name. The most likely scenario is what Guested said a few posts back, about the original Japanese name of the tower being a play on words... it meant both a type of bell, and a metal. While I like the name Tin Tower, personally Bell Tower works equally well for me when the original Japanese name is taken into consideration. Since it was called the "Tin Tower" in the English D/P/Pt, it's easy enough to assume that both names are valid in the canon.
  2. I'm still waiting for my NDS Adapter Plus device to arrive so I can actually backup Hg/Ss saves, so I haven't done it yet... but don't they show up on the Pokegear map after they leave the Burned Tower (like the D/P/Pt roamers did on the marking map)? That's almost as good as knowing where they are... it only took me 5-10 minutes a piece to capture the D/P/Pt roamers going back and forth between two routes.
  3. I imagine the Hg/Ss data has been examined quite a bit in the time since the Japanese version (and now NA English) has come out, so I'm hoping someone here will know the answer to this. I'm curious to know at exactly which points the stats for the various roaming legendaries in Hg/Ss are determined. The reason I'm asking is that ever since the GBA games I've always backed up my save right before fighting each of the one-of legendaries and kept a copy of it on my computer if I ever wanted to go back and capture another unique specimen of whichever legendary. 1. Entei/Raikou --- Since they start roaming after you go to the Burned Tower's basement, I'm guessing that saving right before doing that will do the trick? 2. Latios/Latias --- Not anywhere near this point yet, but I want to be prepared for when I am. I assume if I save immediately prior to exiting the Pokemon Fan Club (when Steven Stone comes to tell you about whichever Lati twin can be found in your game)? 3. Suicune --- I know it's not a roamer, but I'm still curious as it seems to move around a bit after leaving the basement before finally settling on a location. Does it behave like a normal stationary legendary after you finally corner it on Route 25 (that is, can you just soft rest for different stats?).
  4. Probably pre-ordering 3 seperate tickets will be enough to get 1 of each. Somebody planning on doing this should bring 3 different games, though... just in case all 3 Wondercards share the same ID#. I wonder how this will be done in the states... the movie distributions are typically given out there. Though if they don't actually unlock some in-game feature, The Pokemon Company could always decide they're not worth the trouble of releasing here (obviously by "here" I mean the US, as Canada never gets jack anyway)... particularly as it's an event where you're supposed to chose only 1 of 3 different Pokemon.
  5. Yeah, I think the part of the point of releasing Hg/Ss was to finally make every Pokemon obtainable without players having to rely on GBA generation games for Pal Parking, etc. Similarly, Fr/Lg made all the 386 Pokemon of that time catchable without needing either of the Gamecube games. That's such a shame, and it's really my only major gripe so far with Hg/Ss. Aside from that, Im loving the game. Removing it just doesn't make any sense, to me. Keeping the way the buttons worked in D/P/Pt in addition to the new touchscreen features wouldn't have caused any problems. Organizing PC boxes isn't going to be very easy this time around... it's lucky I've been using the same basic arrangement since R/S/E. If I start early, before there are too many Pokemon in the PC, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to get it ordered.
  6. Hoping I'm wrong about this... but has the PC storage system in Hg/Ss dropped the ability to move groups of Pokemon en masse around or between boxes? I've done everything i can think of with both the buttons and touch screen, and nothing I do will select more than a single Pokemon or get that little glove selector to turn yellow. I've noticed a similar deficiency in the Items Bag, as far as attempts to organize the list goes... particularly the main section, as it potentially holds such a large number of things once you've collected all the hold items, fossils, evo stones, etc. The grid display is great for finding things, but the Select button no longer allows you to choose an item and shift it wherever you'd like. You now have to tap the item, go down to tap "move", then keep tapping as you scroll to find where you want it to go, and then the final tap to get it in place. Hg/Ss seem to retain all the other button functionalities from the previous games... so are these there and I'm just not seeing the way it's done? Or was GF really so eager to making everything functional through the touch screen that they sacrificed the ease with which the bag and PC could be organized before?
  7. Doesn't the colour of the text simply denote the original trainer's gender? I'm not sure about NDS events, but I do know that some GBA events could be either. I have two different MYSTRY Mews, for example; and for one the OT is red, and the other blue. Same story for the 10ANIV Celebis... I've got 1 blue, and 3 red. WISHMKR Jirachi seems to always have a male OT, though. I've got 25 different specimens of that, and all blue.
  8. Poryhack recently posted on GBAtemp that Hg/Ss can only be dumped (for now) with the NDS Backup Adapter Plus. There's no other way to do it until someone either writes a new save dumping homebrew app, or updates Rudolph's tools.
  9. Emerald was the best Hoenn game by far, though. The changes to the plot were minor, but the smaller useability features added to Emerald made it worlds better than Ruby or Sapphire. And the unoffical cloning features still makes Emerald incredibly useful for Pal Parking.
  10. I just meant that if Gen V is able to trade with Gen IV, then you'll still have a way to get Pokemon from the GBA games to Gen V (via Pal Park, and then trade). Though by the time Gen V is released, I suppose Nintendo may just ignore that fact and release a remake anyway, since there won't exactly be a ton of people who still own or play the GBA games.
  11. Eventually, no doubt. But I doubt it'll be that soon. Gen I and II were remade primarily (putting aside the fact Nintendo and Game Freak want money) because the original games were no longer compatible. There was also the fact it was absolutely impossible to complete a Pokedex even if you had access to each of the three Hoenn games; and not everyone had a Gamecube or wanted to play through Colosseum and . FireRed and LeafGreen were necessary in order to make GBA-alone Pokedex completion possible. Since all the Hoenn games are still technically compatible with the Sinnoh games and Johto remakes, there's little reason yet to bother remaking them. Maybe a year or two after the first Generation V game is released, we may get a Hoenn remake. Though if Gen V is able to trade with Gen IV, there'll still be a workable pathway between the GBA series and Generation V.
  12. If you have the ability to dump and restore cartridge save data (or play from a flash cart with the *.sav file already accessible), you can use Pokesav to inject the PCD and PGT's files directly into your game, allowing you to pick up the gift from the delivery guy as usual.
  13. Agreed 100% here... you guys are incredible; the game's only just been released and all 6 Wonder Cards in it are already available. Great work guys.
  14. Last summer I had a pretty boring job, and used the opportunity to restart Ruby, Emerald and FireRed to play through them completely, collect every item, and complete each Pokedex. Playing through Ruby was a bit of a pain due to its somewhat awkward interface (ugly and oversized font in the menus, no ability to move groups of Pokmeon around your PC simultaneously or attach items to Pokemon in the PC, and not enough slots for items in your bag) , however Emerald improved the menu font, added those features to the PC storage system, and threw in 10 extra items spaces in the bag so that's the one I played through first and used Ruby and FireRed to help complete its Pokedex. The three of them are now all fully complete with all the PC boxes and items organized the way I like, but thanks to that second run through Hoenn with Emerald I still like going back to play it now and then. There's also the fact that Emerald is the best game for Pal Parking due to its excellent cloning ability. Personally I don't really mind the water routes... sure the constant wild Pokemon attacks can get a bit irritating, but it does give you more to explore with all the underwater caves and such.
  15. Yep, my games can see it too. However, the ID# is the same as Gamestop's so there's no recieving a second one for me. Nice to know we have access to the European English Wi-Fi events, though. This is good news for some Canadians who don't have the benefit of a site like this.
  16. Oh yeah, I'm sure it works. Just as mine works. I just find it odd that two distribution flags that shouldn't (as far as what I've learned here so far goes, anyway) work with Platinum in fact do. I guess maybe there's something else at work.
  17. That Riolu WC has an odd distribution flag... 800C (which according to Grovyle91's Mystery Gift Editor should be Diamond/Pearl/HeartGold). The one I've got that I downloaded from the old Pokesav site uses 000C, which is just Diamond/Pearl (though I'm pretty sure it worked with Platinum, back when I tried sending it over).
  18. Not sure... though I don't see why the EU versions would use one while the North American would use another. Could it be possible that the version the WC was recieved on could impact the code? Like, if the Ranger and PBR WCs originally for download from Pokesav.org were ripped from a Diamond or Pearl cart. I have no idea, personally... but maybe the WC broadcast by PBR and Ranger changes if it senses a Platinum game. Which version did you take your Ranger WCs from?
  19. That's good; that site actually still has the Pikachu, Magmortar and Electivire from PBR; and their distribution flags are 000C like the ones I've got. They seem to work with Platinum, though, for some reason.
  20. + Not the PBR and Ranger WCs, as far as I can see. They're not in the *.zip archive, anyway... I guess maybe because they're not technically "events". Hopefully they'll be up again when the download section comes back up with every wondercard.
  21. It's strange the Ranger ones you've got would be different. Do the Battle Revolution WCs you've got also use 801D, or are they 000C like mine? The Wondercards I'm looking at are the ones I downloaded from this site back when it used to be Pokesav.org. Unfortunately those PBR and Ranger WCs aren't available anymore; at least not until the Event/WC download section is back up.
  22. Well, you did play through the regular game with just the original 150. It wouldn't have been a very good game if it hadn't eventually incorporated the remaining 236 Pokemon, though.
  23. One thing I've been wondering about the distribution version flags... is there some other part of the PCD that has some control over this as well? I ask because some of the wonder cards I've looked at are able to be sent to versions that their flag shouldn't support. All the Battle Revolution items and gift Pokemon use 000C, but they can still be sent over to a Platinum game. The wonder cards for Darkrai and Riolu from Pokemon Ranger 2 have 800C (which should be D/P/Hg, I think) yet those can also go to Platinum as far as I'm aware.
  24. I'm another one that never really knew anyone IRL to trade with, but I only bought one of the Kanto remakes so I'll just be buying SoulSilver this time around. I've got Ruby/Emerald/FireRed/Diamond/Platinum (all with complete pokedexes, and at least one of each species boxed) to pal park and trade with anyway, so I don't really need HeartGold for that.
