  1. That's cute allright, but there's already a thread for the cutest legendary... maybe this thread should focus on non-legendary species. Personally, I think Chikorita is pretty cute.
  2. Not for the Pokedex completion, maybe... however I do kind of like completing all the in-game events. And it'd be nice to have a Rayquaza captured in Johto. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see... if Rayquaza does require both the Johto-captured titans, I suppose I'll just have to buy a used copy of Hg (not a total loss, as I'll also be able to capture second specimens of a ton of legendaries and eventually put them all on my main Ss cart).
  3. Interesting news about all these legendaries in Hg/Ss... it's almost too many, but in-game legendary events are always a bit of fun, so I don't really mind. It would seem these games are being used to take care of the final legendaries that aren't natively available in the DS-generation games... so I wouldn't be surprised if we find out about in-game Latios/Latias and Mewtwo events, as well. Celebi is likely to have his own in-game event (and hopefully North America will even have access to it this time ) perhaps in addition to a few giveaways, and Jirachi will probably be a giveaway-exclusive. I'm just hoping the Mystery Gift/Wonder Card system used in Hg/Ss is the same as D/P/Pt, so I can still broadcast the events to the game using my CycloDS after downloading them from the database. I'm wondering if both the Kyogre and Groudon need to be the ones catchable in Hg and Ss, respectively, in order to to unlock Rayquaza. I'm going to be buying Ss, and I'd hope that a Kyogre Pal Parked to either my Diamond or Platinum game, and traded to Ss (assuming it doesn't have a Pal Park, which I hope I'm wrong about) would unlock it.
  4. True, I'd forgotten about Jirachi since I have the Colosseum bonus disc that gives it out. I'm actually in the process of restarting Ruby over again until I've acquired a specimen of Jirachi for each of the 25 natures. Only 6 more to go.
  5. I'm actually not quite sure... lol, I'm still in the process of playing through Colosseum and . I prefer handheld games for the most part, and I got tired of playing them after a while and took a very long break. Now I'm doing it mostly for the Johto starters, Ho-Oh, Lugia and the Legendary Beasts. However, I think between Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen , and Colosseum... at least I'd hope, with that many games, one would be able to complete a Pokedex. The only Pokemon I'm sure isn't available in any GBA-generation, on any event island or wherever, is Celebi. He/she had to be acquired through some other event, like the 10th Anniversary events or whatever.
  6. I was also hoping for a program like this. I'd wanted to avoid using an action replay on my game... however I really do want to activate the in-game events for Emerald (Ho-Oh, Lugia, Deoxys, Mew) and FireRed (the same, minus Mew). AR codes for buying the various tickets in a Pokemart probably aren't hard to find, but most of the codes for these events I've seen so far are some kind of warping. I'd rather a code that triggers the same flag in the savegame that actually receiving the item from Nintendo would've changed; so hopefully the fact an AR was used can't be detected in the save. The rotating block issue does seem to be a bit of an obstacle, though. Failing a Pokesav-esque program, I was hoping I'd just be able to open the save file in a hex editor and manually activate the event flags (I mean, they could only amount to 3 or 4 values for all of them, right?).
  7. I've never come across a USB device that supports GB/GBC. That era of backup and flashcart devices all used the Parallel Port interface. http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/copiers/copiers.htm This device (the Transferer 2) allows you to take the save file onto your computer or restore it to the game pak. It's more involved than the Mega Memory Card, but useful if you want to use an emulator with your original savegame. If you want to use it, though, you'll need to buy a I/O PCI expansion card with a Parallel Port, unless your computer is old enough to actually still have one on the motherboard. I do have a Transferer 2, however for the purpose of just having a quick way to back up the save when I want to replace a dead battery, the Mega Memory Card makes more sense.
  8. Johto Pokemon was what the Gamecube titles were for, for the most part.
  9. Canada hasn't  It's looking more and more like we're the Pokemon event ghetto of the world. The one event we did get wasn't really that big a deal, because it was distributed over Wi-Fi to all North America anyway.
  10. The Mega Memory Card, readily available on eBay, should do the trick nicely for any GB/GBC Pokemon game.
  11. There's always the ones downloadable from the database here if you just want specimens of each for your game, however I don't believe the PID/IV relationship for these type of GBA events has yet been made available. Whether or not it ever will be, I can't say. It would seem rather unlikely, though, as no doubt there are many people who'd abuse it and create tons of legitimate-appearing GBA event Pokemon. Personally, I'd kind of like to know the relationship to satisfy my own curiousity, but I can see why it's the kind of thing that might be best left unknown by the masses.
  12. Ah, thanks... glad it wasn't some weird glitch. I guess I really have been playing Platinum too long, lol... funny how something as small as a slightly smaller option window can completely throw you off for a few seconds.
  13. I ran into something odd today... maybe I've just been playing Platinum too long, but does Diamond not give you the option to Trash a Wonder Card until after you've recieved the gift from the delivery guy? I put a few of the Battle Revolution item WCs on my Diamond cart, and the the only options for each card I get when I go to Check Cards is "Info" and "Exit". I know you can Trash the cards prior to recieving them in Platinum, so maybe that's why I was thrown a bit.
  14. I've never used a GBA Action Replay before, and the last time I did use a device like this was the old GB/GBC Gameshark... and I have to admit, these seem pretty different. In my old gameshark, I was used to being able to use basically the same code and just change some modifier digits (like for buying an item at the Pokemart, etc.). Is that kind of code just not possible in the GBA games?
  15. Yeah, Emerald did come out after Fr/Lg according to Wikipedia (and my memory, lol). It used the engine from Fr/Lg, but changed the font back to Ruby/Sapphire's. That's why I was annoyed 12 spaces were removed from the General Items section of the bag.
  16. I didn't care for the UI of the Fr/Lg Pokedex, either. The Areas section for each Pokemon, in particular, was too static. I also didn't really like the attempts to classify species under headings like "water's edge pokemon", or whatever else. It was a cool game in that it allowed you to capture the original legendaries for the 3rd generation (and 4th, if you count Pal Park), but a lot about the game felt awkward to me. I think they were almost too intent on changing as little as possible, and seemed to be conflicted on the things they did change (Pokeballs get their own section of the bag, but TMs and Berries require the extra hassel of opening a case for them in the key items section first?).
  17. While it'd be useful to have the dates for every event, the actual date received for a Pokemon in the DS generation games can't really be used by Nintendo to figure out whether it's a hack or not. Since it depends entirely on how you've set the date in your own DS, the receive date could be pretty much anything. You could set your DS forward to Jan. 01, 2099 or back to 2000; and the Pokemon would've been received on that date after getting it from the delivery guy.
  18. Provided there's some level of backwards compatibility, there's not much reason for remakes. Generation IV is cool in that every region is, if not totally rendered in this Gen's new graphics (though 3 of 4 will be, by the end of it), all regions are in some way compatible with the Gen IV games. Hoenn and Kanto (and through them, Orre) are compatible via Pal Park, and soon Johto (and by extension, Kanto) will be compatible through direct trading. As for what the future holds, I'm thinking now that the Pokemon games use a form of local wireless for trading (as opposed to link cables, which tended to change with every generation or two of handheld), it'll be easier for Nintendo to retain backwards trading compatibility with D/P/Pt/Hg/Ss. Even if Gen V is on the DS's successor (which seems likely), I doubt the wireless communication protocols for the new handheld will be very different than that of the DS. So it should be relatively easy to allow for direct trading between Gen IV and V (and even future generations), given there's no longer any kind of cable technology as an obstacle. And if Gen V is compatible with direct trading between Gen IV (after the Elite 4, I imagine), then Pal Park is a bridge between Gen III and V, as well.
  19. I don't think Greencat is necessarily talking about the Pokemon you need incense to breed. But wasn't one of the main points at the beginning of the original Gold/Silver that you were sent on an errand to Mr. Pokemon's house to obain what was supposedly a Pokemon egg? The big deal at the time of the original release, was that Pokemon breeding and eggs was a totally new concept to both the gamer, and the game characters. For whatever reason, the various Pokemon Professors hadn't yet discovered that Pokemon can breed just like any other biological lifeform (duh, guys ). But now that Pokemon breeding is such an old concept for the people playing the game, it might make the beginning of the remake seem a bit odd, as we're all used to it; but the people in the game have never heard of Pokemon eggs before. At least, if the remake is done exactly as the original.
  20. I enjoyed FireRed (though it was much more difficult than I remember the original being, lol). However, it did have a few features I didn't really care for. For one thing, that in-game help system. I can't even begin to recall how many times I'd accidentally hit one of the shoulder buttons (that I was accustomed to having no function in any of the other games) and bringing up that stupid thing. Also, I wasn't a fan of the bag organization. TMs and Berries should've just had their own sections, not individual carrying cases that required you to go to key items, and then select the appropriate case. Also, just out of curiousity, why was the total number of items you could carry in the general pocket of the bag 42 for FireRed, but reduced to 30 for Emerald? I could definitely use those extra 12 spaces in Emerald, though I did eventually work out an organization between the bag and PC in which I was able to sort all the medicinal and other items I needed, balanced with a full set of evolution and hold items. Basically all but a couple of the hold items go in the PC, along with nuggets and the vitamins (which takes up every available slot, between them). medicine, repels, incense, and evo stones/items go in the bag, which leaves me 2 or 3 empty spaces out of the 30.
  21. Strange; back when Gold and Silver originally came out, I got the impression that Silver was the more popular of the two. That's the one I preferred and bought, anyway. In all the other versions I agree, though... Red, Ruby, FireRed and Diamond are the ones I bought (and the 3rd version remakes).
  22. It really would be better to start a new save, as opposed to going out of your way to preserve a glitched one. If you have a gameshark, why did you bother using the missingno glitch when you could just use the gameshark to buy any items you wanted in a pokemart.
  23. They also couldn't ship to Canada, which is what made me pretty mad. Regardless, I finally did get the bloody thing. Still a pain, though.
  24. So, how many people have this title, that was such a nightmare to get in North America for some people? Personally, the whole storage system was one of my favourite features of the Pokemon Stadium games, and I was pretty annoyed that the feature wasn't built into Colosseum, as it should've been. And that it was only made available at a single store for the entire continent; a store of which even the online version could only ship the thing to the US, was maddening . Europe got a much better deal, I think, as the disc for Box could come included with Colosseum as a set. It's ironic the UK and Japanese versions of Box are more readily available to North Americans today than this region's own version. A bit less than a year ago I got tired of not having it, and gave in by buying it on eBay for a rather obscene price. The plus side is that it was in open, but pristine condition... even some stickers that had apparently come with it were unused.
  25. I'm not really looking for anything in particular... not Pokemon, anyway. Between Colosseum, , Ruby, Emerald and FireRed I'm not really lacking for any past-generation Pokemon in Diamond or Platinum. If you had a Dubious Disc to spare, though, and could attach it to the traded Pokemon; I'd welcome another one of those. If you can't spare it, let me know and we can work out something else. There are a few other hold items I still need to complete my "ItemDex" in Platinum What nature were you interested in? I'll be able to Pal Park the Jirachi relatively quickly, but we'll have to set up some time that both of us can be online in order to trade. I'm working long hours this week... maybe sometime next weekend? I'll register the FC in your sig. Here's mine, for Platinum: 3652 7463 4343
