  1. The first games were only released about 13 years ago, though, lol.
  2. I agree, it would be really nice to have these games for the Wii... at least the second one, because if Nintendo ever did ever consider it, I can't see them releasing both. However, a major part of them was transferring your Pokemon over from the Generation 1 & 2 games; and I can't see that aspect of them working at this point. Even for those of us that still have the old games, there'd be no way to link them up without some new accessory. The games would really only make sense as semi-remade WiiWare titles, as opposed to true Virtual Console releases... modified to transfer to and from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. It would make a far better storage system than Pokemon Ranch, as well.
  3. I doubt there'll be that kind of all-encompassing game any time soon. Even provided they didn't increase the quality of graphics from D/P/P level (and you'd hope they would), they'd need a massive amount of space to fit a new region, plus all four previous regions into a single game. That's assuming you wanted the regions to be as full of adventure (eg. not the way Kanto was in GSC) as they were in their original games.
  4. Well, I'm not sure how uncommon/unpopular it is these days, thanks to it being the primary format used by Apple; and the default choice when ripping an audio CD in iTunes. But yeah, it is supposed to be higher quality at a given bitrate than MP3... provided you don't create the AAC from an MP3 anyway, lol. My digital music collection is encoded in AAC, but mostly because it's convenient. My preference for video encoding is definitely H.264, which is part of the same general specification as AAC audio. MPEG-4, as a whole, does tend to be pretty nice.
  5. AAC audio can come in any number of container formats... I wouldn't recommend converting it from MP3 or other lossy formats, though. If possible, create your files from the original CDs, or a lossless source file (*.wav, etc.).
  6. I guess I have some more reading to do about EV training... but why is it that vitamens and boxing a level 100 pokemon will increase its stats, but regular battling for EV training won't? Is is that the game doesn't allow a level 100 to gain EV through battling?
  7. Assuming your son's DS is enabled to access your home's wireless network, then yeah, the Secret Key will be available via the Nintendo WFC Mystery Gift starting on the 20th.
  8. Whether you use a Japanese or potential future North American WC to get the Member Card, though, the item is identical. And after the North American one is released, who's to say yours isn't legal? Heck, since the date your Darkrai is captured depends 100% on the date set on your DS, who's to say the Darkrai you captured isn't also legal? You can set your DS date to anything you want... the capture date isn't exactly reliable as a method of verification.
  9. I've got Diamond and Platinum, both purchased on their respective release days.
  10. And since Arceus is basically a God (literally, lol) of the Pokemon World, future legendaries have to move away from the trend of each generation being on successively more divine mythos. There are probably lots of other cool types of things a legendary Pokemon could potentially be based on... there's no rule saying they have to be tied somehow to a creation myth.
  11. I guess it's true with Arceus, they've basically reached the apex of the current legendary line. But I don't think that necessarily means it would be overly difficult for them to make more games. They just need to go in a different direction with future legendaries.
  12. According to Bulbapedia it does: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sacred_Ash It's the only way to get it in Gen III without having an event item.
  13. It's well worth it. Now I just need to finish playing through Pokemon so I can get my hands on some Sacred Ash and clone it like crazy .
  14. I used a Master Ball. I've been using the Battle Frontier cloning trick in Emerald to duplicate a bunch of the rarer items (it's an even better method for cloning items than Pokemon, since you can do much more than 5 at the same time), and when I Pal Park guys to Diamond I give them a Master Ball just for the heck of it. While trading from Diamond to Platinum, I sent over some Master Balls as well; to use on the legendaries.
  15. I thought the box trick didn't work this generation?
  16. I don't think I've ever tried giving vitamens to a lv. 100 pokemon... but even if they did accept them, it wouldn't be beneficial as EVs only increase a Pokemon's stats upon a levelling up.
  17. This is probably being done like Shaymin, or Darkrai... the pokemon itself distributed first at some event, and then the in-game item necessary for a player to catch their own distrubted later on.
  18. GSC = Gold/Silver/Crystal... the second generation games.
  19. Yeah, I'm hoping for that, as well.... without those, every single one of the Johto legendaries are basically inaccessible to new players of the game... and probably even to a great number of people who played Ruby/Sapphire and are able to Pal Park stuff. Only those who played through both Gamecube games can get them, and even then there's still Celebi. And (going by the database on this site, anyway) Celebi doesn't ever seem to have had an event for the DS generation games; not even in Japan. What's up with that?
  20. There was a poll thread about this on the previous forum, so I just thought I'd revive it here for people to post their wish-list for the next generation. I decided not to go with a poll for this, though, as most of the poll options in the previous thread were things that are pretty much assured to to be in the next gen... better graphics, more pokemon, etc. But there are other things that we may want in those games, that may not necessarily present themselves to the designers as obvious additions. A big one for me? I think it's about time the National Dex was reorganized... after 3 generations of adding to previous evolution lines and legendaries no longer being at the end of the list, it's started to look less like an organized database (which is what it's supposed to be) and more like just a gigantic mess. While most Pokemon are pretty much okay where they are, all legendaries should be shifted to the end and sorted according to Trios, ubers, cute ones, etc... and specimens like Pichu, Magnezone, Magmortar and all other evolution lines which aren't currently together in the National Dex should be shifted so they are.
  21. You know what I've always thought would be cool? An actual Pokedex program for the computer... not a website, but an independent program with all the data/etc.
  22. I like Dusk Balls... Pokemon look so much cooler coming out of one of those.
  23. I'm still pretty new to the save editing thing, and I haven't actually used Pokesav on my own save file yet. This PID thing, though, I still don't quite get... especially the various types, and restricted vs. unrestricted, the various equations by which they can equate to IVs, etc. Is there a FAQ anywhere that covers these issues... and as for PID/IV generation, which types of PIDs have been made known for these generators, and which types haven't?
  24. It's a shame there's nothing like the box trick in these games, where you can force a recalculation of a Pokemon's stats even after hitting level 100. Still, the next Arceus event after this will probably be the Azure Flute... and at least that'll give us a specimen that can be trained.
  25. Not counting the Red Gyarados, my first shiny was Snorlax in Silver.
