  1. To not get into an extensive debate on what Nintendo can and can't check for (since honestly, none of us know), I think it's more of an issue of if hacking for it, even legally, is fair. I imagine a good number of people don't have the ability to hack. So their IVs might be a bit lower, or natures might not be perfect, or they chose something with less egg moves since it had a better nature. SCV has a good post that's better written than this, and it has essentially the same point. It really isn't that hard to breed for decent IVs and nature, even easier if you can exploit the RNG. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm guessing it'll be a bit more secure than TRU events are.
  2. There's a "Helpful Member" badge. Wraith89 has it. I know that isn't specific for Save/Mod help, but it's something that could be used.
  3. That's because (from what I know, I personally don't own a flashcart) the R4 is a heavily bootlegged product, and I heard the company that made the R4 went out of business. Many of the people I know into DS Homebrew prefer the CycloDS.
  4. Why is Hippo stuffed with EVs in HP, Defense, and Sp Defense, and then you Focus Sash it? That's a waste of an item. Focus Sash is meant for Pokemon who can't survive a hit any other way. Change it to Leftovers. That's all I'll say for now, since UU isn't a tier I often play.
  5. What I notice about your Heatran is that, strangely enough, it's weak to the standard Scarf/Specs Heatran. Two moves get Flash Fire going, and then you have set-up moves. It also leaves Heatran open to any number of bulky water types, and someone who has GUTS Machamp/Heracross tucked away will learn how to abuse Will O Wisp. While bulky Pokemon such as Dusknoir, Zapdos, and Vaporeon can operate on sand storm teams, you basically have to choose Leftovers. And using a standard 252/252/6 spread on Zapdos is just making it into a standard sweeper, when it can do so much more.
  6. I agree. In the current competitive environment, it's a challenge to provide counters to everything (REAL counter, not revenge killing, or a check against, etc...; something that can switch in, take minimal/no damage, and eliminate the threat or force a switch). It also, as you said, doesn't help much. Blissey doesn't need to have to be on a threat list. Your counter to Blissey is any physical attack. The reverse goes for Skarmory. Now throughout typing up one's strategy, you should mention the biggest threats of the current competitive environment. Those being Heatran, Scizor, Tyranitar, Metagross, and so on. Lots of others can just be grouped together. Vaporeon, Suicune, etc... don't all need counters, you just need something to go against bulky waters. And so on. So if someone is obviously missing an answer to a big threat in their strategy, it should be pointed out. But I don't think someone's RMT thread should be looked down upon just because they didn't individually type up an answer to 20-50 Pokemon.
  7. What is a shoutbox? VMs are already enabled for short messages. "Random conversations" sound like something that should be taken to AIM/MSN/Yahoo/ICQ or a chat room.
  8. Yeah, I'm going to close this because it'll basically be a +1 postcount thread. Not to mention whatever random crap anyone is doing in their game, like "Day 1: Hunting; Day 2: Still hunting; Day 3: Took a break, watched House" isn't really discussable. If you want to start a Poke Radar-chaining thread, go for it. But not random hunting log journals.
  9. Novely sets suck. As Destati said, no one is going to leave their Pokemon in so you can dream eat it. Ideally, this thread should be making original competitive sets. Novelty sets are fine, but in a competitive environment, they're just bad. But they're fine for in-game. Maybe even the BT.
  10. The forum rules are simply a way to ask for a battle. If you don't know why forum rules get a sticky, then I don't know how much I can help you in understanding it. This thread has plenty of relevant information. Regardless of anyone's personal opinion on Smogon and how they utilize clauses and tiers, it's a fact that they are an influence on the competitive battling aspect of the metagame. And since this is the Competitive Battling forum, it's relevant to it, on-topic, and worthy of discussion. If you don't like the topic, more power to you. Don't post, contribute to the discussion, whatever. But if it's relevant or not isn't up for you to decide.
  11. Plat is the "third version". They aren't going to majorly change it. It's going to stay the same, with the focus on the new features. It seems like you were expecting a brand new game with a new region. That was unrealistic.
  12. I got a PM from a staff on the site saying that, even though they've identified the OT/ID#, they've decided not to release them to the public.
  13. So you liked what the game featured and was promoted for. Anyone who thought the story would be drastically different was deluding themselves.
  14. Generally, one month. Some last a bit longer, and custom ones can last longer.
  15. There isn't a title for BFFs. If you contribute enough to the community, you get a title, such as Contributor or Developer.
  16. Okay. I'm closing this since it became a debate on the user's rules rather than RMT. For the future, there's nothing against using non-Smogon tier lists (or at some point, non-PP tier list). However, a (individual)user-made tier list is basically theory-mon, and it does seem that you are just randomly banning whatever just happens to be your weaknesses. Closed. In the future, if someone is just making crap rules or clauses and it seems to be just so their team will work, send me a PM.
  17. I think I didn't get my point across well. While I think respect is earned, that doesn't mean people should start with no respect or disrespect. As you say, people should start on an even ground as equal as every other newcomer. EDIT: And as someone else said, civil respect should always be held ,regardless.
  18. Debating isn't against the rules. If you can't handle having a discussion, people not agreeing with you, or people asking to justify your opinion, you should reconsider posting. And respect isn't an inherent, as far as I'm concerned. I think it's earned. Posters who could drag the community down aren't something that are necessarily deserving of respect. I think there are certainly types of members that can be seen in other fan communities that tend to polarize a forum one way or another, and make any poster who doesn't fall into an extreme less likely to post.
  19. Honestly, I think Johto was kind of barren. And that's why Kanto was such an appeal. Even though it was essentially a ghost town, it's often cited as the best part of the game. So I think they'll expand Johto and maybe add a bit more plot (but it won't be different). Then probably add "Kanto Island" or something like that to have a nice Battle Frontier and a bunch of wild Kanto animals. But I don't think it'll be as massive as Plat. Anyways, since this and the speculation thread are basically the same. I'm going to merge them.
  20. SCV, I really like your method. Unfortunately, I don't own a flashcart, so I'm forced to use an AR.
  21. There is absolutely nothing that'll happen to you because of someone using hacked Pokemon, you battling against hacks, or receiving hacks in a trade. A judge at the official tournament last year says their hack check device can detect Action Replay usage, but obviously not everyone gets to observe the device up close. No, you won't get banned fro the GTS for any/no reason. It does have a limited form of hack checking, even less than PBR's Wi-Fi.
  22. Are you talking about the anime or the games (it seems like you're referencing the "dropped plot" GS Ball of the anime, which is why I ask)? Because the games still had the plot in them, it's just it was never distributed outside of Japan. I'll give two answers, for the respective formats: Anime: Nope. Any major events involving a legendary are always going to be in the movies, or at least a special. From time to time, some "lesser" legendaries might show up in individual episodes, but that's about it. I doubt Celebi would be anywhere other than the movies. Games: I'm fairly certain that the games are going to be relatively the same (no significant plot changes were in FR/LG). I'll save my thoughts on what they won't include/will include for other threads, but I'm sure they'll keep the GS Ball in. Though it, like the original, probably won't ever leave Japan.
  23. Maybe I'm confused by the thread, but it seems like this is either general speculation, or it's stating why G/S was great. If this is so, we've got the Gen II forums for discussing why the original G/S are great. Or the speculation thread that's stickied. If someone PMs me and tells me the unique purpose of this thread that can't be served by the speculation thread or the 2nd gen forum, PM me and I'll consider re-opening it.
  24. If you're wondering about PP and it's collection of events, go to the first post in the event WC/PKM thread. If it isn't in the first post, it probably isn't needed. If it's not up on the site RIGHT THIS SECOND , then all that means is it isn't up yet.
  25. That isn't because you used an Action Replay.
