  1. Well, I figure (like a lot of people do) that FR and LG take place at the same time as RSE, and to the same token, that HG and SS take place at the same time as DPPt. Don't forget, when HG and SS come out, they will be compatible with the Sinnoh Pokémon, which "weren't discoverd" until DPPt either. Right, but if it's controlled with the touchscreen now (unconfirmed) then it stands to reason that it would support the same features as the Pokétch, and it would be nice not to lose some of those apps in the transition from DPPt to HGSS.
  2. NukaNeka, please don't double post. If you need to add something, edit your post. If you need help and no one is answering you, either wait a while longer, or PM one of the mods (myself included) and we will try to help you directly. With that aside, can you describe in detail what you did to create your Pokémon? Or upload a screenshot of Pokésav somewhere? Alternatively you can just upload the .PKM file itself and I will take a look at it when I get home.
  3. I don't think they would do that. If we get a "TV" add-on to the PokéGear, I imagine it would still retain radio functionality. I'm not really expecting a pocket TV though. If anything, it'll just be the normal PokéGear functions + some (if not all) of the Pokétch functions. But those wishing to hear their own music through use of a DSi and an SD card are probably out of luck.
  4. Silver is the name of your rival. And Kris (as it was pointed out) represents Crystal, not GS. That being said, the new female protagonist looks kind of dumb.
  5. I normally try not to speak for other people, but I cannot imagine a world in which Sabresite would not turn down free help. And who can blame him? That's a pretty big feature list. Anyway, yes, I cannot possibly stress enough that anyone can help. You don't have to have any prior knowledge or experience; mostly just patience and a willingness to cooperate. If you'd like to volunteer, PM me and I'll get in touch with Sabresite.
  6. Please see the thread that I just posted.
  7. I believe FR and LG had some extremely limited map changes, but overall everything was unchanged. As for Ilex Forest, looks the same to me. That's near the Cherrygrove side, the Celebi shrine there.
  8. Here's a Serebii news posts regarding the NEP: http://serebii.net/archive/April-2009.shtml (02-04-2009) And here's a picture of it on this page: http://serebii.net/movies/arceus/ So far it's an anime-only thing (tying in with the new Arceus movie), which does not necessarily mean anything for the games, but I think this time it does.
  9. You're probably right, since that's what they did with FR and LG as far as time-based evolutions went. Then again, maybe there will be new areas (akin to the Sevii Islands) that will take care of it. Dude, that's a good question. Has anyone tried it? My guess is that there will be new formes for Shellos and Gastrodon, especially since I think that more sprite diversity will be a feature to come (based on the notched-ear Pichu).
  10. Ah, yes... so you edited your post about an hour before I made my post. Wasn't paying attention I guess. So are you able to set this security tool to broadcast your SSL? Did you get it working? If not, there is apparently a hardware solution... a USB device that can interface directly with NDS carts. It's mentioned in another thread.
  11. I was wondering that myself. I think that, considering it's been about four years since FireRed and LeafGreen came out, and seeing how integral Kanto was to the latter portion of GSC, they will keep it in, at least to some extent. But who knows? Maybe HG and SS will have their own "Sevii Islands" (or an equivalent). Or maybe we'll get lucky and they'll keep Kanto in without shrinking it down as much as last time. After all, these are remakes of GBC games, and between the (rather impressive) length and depth of DPPt and the advent of better and better technology, HG and SS have some expectations to live up to. I have another question: will HG and SS have an underground?
  12. I just discovered that after switching out the R4 official firmware for YSMenu, I had lost the config file for Rudolph's tool. So, I basically started from scratch. Okay, so the .ini file that goes into the same directory as NDS_Backup_Tool_Wifi.NDS (I believe the root folder is suggested) should start off like this: # # NDS_Backup_Tool_Wifi.ini # ServerIP 192.168.0.10 ! FTPd IP address ServerPort 21 ! FTPd Service Port #FileDir /NDS_Backup ! Home Directory FTPUser anonymous ! FTPd Logon User name FTPPassword anonymous@anonymous ! FTPd Logon password SaveFile 0 ! Saving size : 0:auto, nnn:Save File Size(KB) #Trim ! Rom Triming Backup I changed the server IP to my PC's IP, the port was changed to 8080, and I set both my FTP username and password. The latter three settings were made to match in the SmallFTP program. It worked just fine for me... I was able to backup my save to my PC, edit it with Pokésav, and then restore it back to the game.
  13. Pokémon 2000 was actually released several months before Gold and Silver, IIRC. I'm not sure about the Japanese release dates, but in the USA it came out in the spring / early summer, and GS came out in September / October. Remember that the movie took place in the Orange Islands, before Ash & co. had started the Johto adventures.
  14. Sabresite also mentioned that PokéMod will have a fully automatic online update system for his program. As for "updates for roms", if you mean updated compatibility for roms as they come, I'm sure that (at least for the DS main series RPGs) Sabresite will do the best he can, but it would be tremendously awesome if the rest of us helped out when, for example, HG and SS are released. I haven't really gotten around to Platinum yet, but I plan to be fully caught up with all of it by the end of the year, so that I can begin hunting for offsets in said new games. If you want PokéMod updated quickly, anyone is welcome to help.
  15. BaldWombat, when I get back home (might be kinda late) I will take a look at my setup and see what I did to get this to work. In fact, I think I might recap the Monroeworld tutorial, because I seem to be the only one who got lucky enough to get it working right away. I can tell you now though that I didn't have to do anything to the router settings. As a matter of fact, I'm not even the network administrator. EDIT: By the way, what version of Rudolph's tool are you using? I don't know if the one linked to at that page is the most recent version or not. Check his site for the latest version (NDS Backup Tool Wifi v0.31f).
  16. I've thought about writing a quick utility program to export GBA Pokémon to the PKM file format, or just writing them directly to a DPPt save file. If I ever get around to researching or finding accurate information on where the Pokémon storage begins in the GBA games, and also, figure out how to fix the GBA save files' checksums after making a change, I will write such a program. Sabresite might beat me to it though, since Pokémod will have a pseudo - Pal Park feature.
  17. Are the Pokémon games really that memory intensive though? Aside from the fact that they now use 3D models (which, by the way, is going to make Johto look freakin' awesome!). I've been wondering about this myself. I think that more sprite diversity is a feature planned for Gen V, and that they will test the waters in HG and SS, starting with this special Pichu (and maybe others). I am super pumped to play a DS enhanced version of these games. The graphics, the music... especially the trainer battle music, which is arguably the catchiest tune in Pokémon history.
  18. Ken, to be honest, I'm not sure I understand what your question(s) is/are. Obviously editing Pokémon that you have captured is possible, and also editing the "roaming" Pokémon. But how could you edit other wild Pokémon? They don't even exist yet. As for "customizing trainers", if you are referring to the NPC trainers, that is a rom editing function... not a save editing function. You might want to look at PPRE. If by "respawn" you mean "rebattle a one-time legendary / event Pokémon", then the answer is yes, you will be able to reset the flags necessary to do that.
  19. Telos, in the DPPt save files, the game keeps track of which Pokémon you actually picked as your starter. So most likely only that one would follow you around (if they ever implement such a feature).
  20. Again (and unfortunately), this is not my area of expertise. But knowing what I do about the DPPt save files, maybe this game is also split into "current" and "backup" blocks of data. If you made a change to a part of the backup, the game might not even try to load your change and therefore you wouldn't get an error. But I dunno.
  21. Then everything you need to know (to start anyway) can be found here. More information on values (for items, for example) is still not on that page though. EDIT: Moved to Save Research & Development.
  22. I'm not sure why Rudolph's tool wouldn't work, but I can tell you from experience that you will not get the full 512kb from SavSender. I posted a tutorial that I found for this on the old Pokésav.org forums, lemme see if I can find it. I'll also look at my flash cart and the program's config and see if anything sticks out. EDIT: Bingo, here's the tutorial. I followed these exact steps to get everything setup, and even though the tutorial is meant for backing up the rom, it works just as well with the save backup option in Rudolph's tool (obviously). Personally, I found Rudolph's tool to be fast, reliable, and completely able to backup / restore saves without a problem... unlike other methods I tried, including SavSender.
  23. Could the card / firmware make a difference? I've done it with an R4 and the latest official firmware (1.18 I think?). I believe it is the latest version of Rudolph's tool as well (though I don't remember what version number it is). I have YSMenu on there now, with which I haven't tried Rudolph's tool yet.
  24. The trash bytes I was referring to are (maybe?) located in the save file, but they do not pertain to the Pokémon themselves. What I'm saying is that the save file has not been completely mapped yet, so we don't know what everything pertains to. Furthermore, COM has proven over and over that his research (assuming he did any) is / was incomplete... I see evidence myself since: His program only edits the "current" save, and doesn't write the data back the way the game does, which is probably not traceable, but could be. In certain rare cases, his program selects the wrong portion of the save file as the "current" one. I wouldn't go so far as to say that his program writes values to areas of the save that the program doesn't aim to edit, but if one was rigorous enough, one could possibly spot some differences between a hacked save and an unhacked one. In fact, take a save that has never been touched by Pokésav, make a copy of it, open the copy, and without making any changes, save it. See if the two files are the same. I think I'll try that myself. EDIT: I don't think it would be as easy as just "deleting the items", if Pokésav does in fact change other values not meant to be changed (or if it does it incorrectly).
