  1. Great! Don't worry about the layout of the list, I'll play around with it later when I get home. And yeah, might as well use the Japanese names for now until we have official English ones.
  2. Coolness... I think you misread the title of this thread. This has nothing to do with PokesavDS (which is a dead project by the way).
  3. Which paragraphs would those be...? If you are referring to how the game loads and / or saves a file, I would actually prefer you didn't just yet, since I need to go back and fix things every so often. I will possibly create a new page dedicated to that process... I'll have to discuss it with SCV and Sabresite.
  4. Hmm. That's interesting. I suppose the likeliest explanation is that there is a completely separate enumeration for the balls that is referenced in these areas, as opposed to just referencing the items enumeration.
  5. Not necessarily... there must be a place elsehwere in the PKM data to store the HGSS met locations, since (having tested it myself) the met location shows up as "Faraway Place" in DPPt (if caught in HGSS), which obviously wouldn't be the case in the HGSS summary screen. Additionally, there are the Pokéthlon stats to consider. Plus, I heard that there were medals awarded to Pokéthlon winners, which are probably stored in a bitfield similarly to the Ribbons.
  6. It's now a part of my signature, so it will be on every post I ever do. That way, I won't forget in the future. Let me know how the program works now... and thanks for the feedback!
  7. There is now. Try downloading the latest .Net Framework (3.5 SP 2 I believe) and see if that fixes the problem.
  8. Interesting... so the Pokémon's location must be stored elsewhere (probably not far away from the player's coordinates). Keep up the good work, Grovyle91! And by all means, if you'd like to create a wiki page or work on the existing pages, feel free to do so. FYI: I merged the new items thread and this thread.
  9. Actually, the bytes 0x86 and 0x87 are probably used, based on the values here: It's hard to be sure without testing (which I cannot do now as I am at work), plus the fact that the DPPt ball location is evidently only one byte (since the balls in DPPt ony took up one byte, as opposed to these new ball values). Mind you, balls that existed in DPPt will be set in this area as well as the DPPt ball location. This area of the data exists soley for compatibility purposes, just like when new met locations were introduced in Platinum. Excellent work, Grovyle91! In the limited number of posts I've seen of yours, you have done some impressive work. Feel free to add this info to our wiki.
  10. Well put, Illithian. Closed!
  11. 0x86 stores the value for the HGSS ball used to capture the Pokémon. The ball location in DPPt is set to a Poké Ball if an Apricorn ball is used. This ensures compatibility between the different versions. Nice work so far!
  12. It's not on one thread; the stop button does work, just not right away.
  13. Moved to Save R&D. I will be checking this out shortly. EDIT: Well, I like the GUI a lot. But it seems that if the program is busy populating the list with PIDs, the Stop button isn't instantly responsive. At any rate, this program is pretty awesome. Keep up the good work! By the way, a progress bar for the search would be pretty awesome.
  14. Yes, I like your convention better. Much easier to remember what each method actually means in terms of PRNG advancement.
  15. Eh. The birds being there don't impress me or annoy me. I mean, I caught them in Platinum (with Master Balls!), so they're kind of superfluous now. They won't even make decent trade fodder is my guess. Of course, that page could just be a reference to the meeting with the birds that took place in FRLG. If some crazy fool out there really has the game, I hope they do more than just slap a coupla manual pages up on the 'net.
  16. Yeah, again... that was a joke. :\ Someone has the game and they're scanning images of the manual? Why stop there? Where's the manual in PDF format?
  17. FYI, I made a program to load a PKM file and output an ARDS code, just like I said I would. I'll upload it to the site tonight.
  18. What? That makes even less sense than Giovanni returning. What would Cyrus possibly be doing in Johto or Kanto? Especially if these games take place after the events of Platinum (assuming Platinum is canon over DP), and he's still isolating himself in the Distortion World.
  19. Assuming that this is all not just a fabrication and the birds really are in HGSS, some are speculating that there are simply more than one of each legendary bird in the world. I dunno. That will be an exciting day... like Christmas morning! Well, that bit about the Distortion World in Johto was a joke. But if it were in HGSS, let's face it... a parallel dimension is a parallel dimension. The entrance could be anywhere. Unless we go with the odd explanation that the Distortion World is only parallel to Sinnoh. o_0 EDIT: It sure freakin' seems like it! Just consider the number of overworld sprites that needed to be made. Including the ten alternate forme Pokémon (Pichu, Unown, Deoxys, Burmy, Wormadam, Shellos, Gastrodon, Rotom, Giratina, and Shaymin, not counting Arceus because it is probably a simple pallette swap), that's 537 different Pokémon to represent. Now, each sprite is animated while standing, so that's two frames. There needs to be a front, back, and side view (assuming the reverse side is just flipped). There also needs to be a walking animation, which I think is different from the idle animation. If that is the case, we are looking at 3,222 sprites! And that's just part of one feature.
  20. Well well well... what is this? According to Serebii / some Japnese imageboards, the legendary birds of Kanto are evidently possibly obtainable in HGSS. Assuming that is true, what, exactly, is the point of Platinum if you already have DP and are getting HGSS? So far looks like the only Platinum exclusive feature is the Distortion World. I can just see the next Pokémon Sunday / CoroCoro issue: "Distortion World appears in Johto!".
  21. Well first of all, trading doesn't set any "flag" for the in-game events you are referring to. The only thing that sets those off is if you have the correct PKM in your party and it has the Fateful Encounter flag set on it. Second of all, I'm pretty sure this topic belongs in Save R&D, not Misc. The data structure of the Pokédex and Pokétch Pokémon History apps have been laid out; to make a program that can perform legal trades between two games, we have yet to discover the structure of the Journal (which I believe will record trades), and there may be other things I am not thinking of just now. Otherwise... it should be possible. Even better would be if we wrote an app that can directly connect between two computers over the internet to perform trades between save files on each machine.
  22. Ahh, okay. Glad to hear it. Thanks!
  23. Chansey, yes. Clefairy, not so much.
  24. Jigglypuff is not female only. It is male approximately 25% of the time. Anyway, I'm surprised no one has figured out RNG abuse of the GBC games yet. They've been hacked to pieces.
  25. Just jumping in an expiring topic to say, the going theory I've heard is that the colors represent growth rates due to the Pokémon's Nature, not anything to do with IVs. For example, if your Snorlax's Special Defense was blue and Speed was red, that is indicative to me of a Quiet Nature. But it's all speculation at this point, since no one has actually verified this with the Nature in the Pokémon's summary. :\
