1. That's an intriguing idea. There is currently no way to batch import / export, but if you have the tools to backup and restore your retail cart saves, there very easily could be... my library could easily be used for such a task (and I'll bet Chase's could do the same). I'll keep this in mind for when I get back to programming.
2. To be honest... it's been a while since I've programmed anything, unfortunately. But where I was when I left off, I was very nearly finished with a tool to convert GBA Pokémon to DS Pokémon. I am just missing a few pieces of information. I'll have to go over my code again to see what was missing, and straighten that out, before I can release a converter, since I want the Pokémon to come out 100% legal.
3. Do you have the tools you need to actually do this though? Do you know anything about ROM or save structures in the N64? If so: if you manage to make sort of a save file timeline by making changes and re-extracting the save file from your game, we could examine the files with a hex editor and look for those changes... if Chase wanted to get in at that point, his experience with the GSC --> Gen IV conversion process would no doubt be useful.
4. Soldjermon, thanks for pointing these guys in the right direction. The rest of ya, don't forget to search the forums for help before making new threads in the future.
5. Hah, no, I haven't had time to yet. But as soon as I do I'll let you know via PM. Meanwhile, this topic has now strayed from its original purpose, so I think we're done here.
6. If you can find a way to extract your save file from the N64 cartridge, let me know. Until then, nothing practical can be done with this anyway. Also, FYI, the rental Pokémon would be stored in the ROM, and the rentals would be stored in the save file; two totally different locations in the physical cartridge. It would be a completely different and separate process to get the rentals out.
7. By "GCN" you surely mean "N64", right? Anyway, there are people who have mapped out the structure of the GB games, but I'm not aware of any program that extracts anything resembling PKM files out of them (except for that project Chase was working on a while back for extracting and converting the Pokémon data from GSC to PKM files). But why on earth would you want to do this anyway? The rental Pokémon were largely useless.
8.

Hah, right. Thanks! I'm at work now, so going wild is something I'll have to do on the inside. Also my fiancée is "kidnapping" me later, so I'm not exactly sure what that's about.

9. I actually haven't tried out 7-Zip yet, but free + open source = good in my book. As far as I know, the only ways for you to export Pokémon from your game to your PC either involve having "special hardware" (i.e. a flash cart or that nifty USB NDS cart reader) or trading your Pokémon to someone else who has said hardware. Maybe someday someone will FINALLY crack the DS wi-fi protocol and then we can do what needs to be done via normal NDS wi-fi functions, but until that day....
10. Well, to me, legit and legal uses of the research we do are the most useful, since they're probably not traceable and don't rip anyone off. I was just thinking about how neat it would be to have a push notification app on the iPhone that informs you of a trade going through, or an offer being made that you were tracking for. The former would be especially valuable to those outside of Japan, since we don't get to have GTS E-Mail notifications (only Wii messages >_>).
11.

Hey, good job on the promotion man!

12. I E-Mailed you back, but basically by "full filename" I meant including the extension (file.EXT). I'm thinking you are trying to open the RAR files. Am I right?
13. Until Pokesav is updated by COM to include better Spiky-Ear Pichu support, it is a lost cause. However... give it some time and maybe a programmer with some free time can whip up a Spiky-Ear Pichu fixer application.
14. Seeing as it's been a while since Jiggy-Ninja has updated this thread, I am going to lock it for the time being, so as to prevent it from straying into "so is it still dead?"-land. Jiggy, myself, or any other staff can unlock it if and when the time comes.
15. Wow, didn't even know about midomi. Holy moly am I getting that one! Here's a list of some other apps I find neat: vlingo Dragon Dictation RedLaser (I work part time at a grocery store, so...) TV Guide (faster than the channel and more portable than the magazine) Too bad copyright laws prevent a decent Pokédex application from existing. I think everyone's thought about that one.
16. Please search the site and/or forums before asking questions. Thanks. Also: Nous ne parlons pas francais ici. Nous parlons anglais. (That's what I get for taking four years of French.)
17. jose cruz: please search for answers first in the future. Try the guide on the front page of the site. undeadno12: I am attempting to help you now in the thread that you created for this question. And... closed.
18. First of all, what is the full filename of the version of Pokesav you are trying to open? Second of all, what operating system are you trying to open it in? It looks to me like you may be trying to open a compressed RAR file without a program with which to decompress it. If that is the case, you need to get a program like WinRAR so that you can decompress the Pokesav EXE file and run it.
19. Well, I use Trillian on my desktop / laptop, but its IRC functionality appears to be somewhat incomplete. It seems to handle the other services pretty well though, so I may have to check it out anyway! I've heard good things about Colloquy. I am considering it! Unrelated ntoe: WoW Armory makes me wish I actually played WoW. So, I was worried that the virtual keyboard would be the biggest turn-off about the iPhone, but I have to admit it's not as bad as I thought. I think with practice I'll be able to type messages just as fast as on a mobile hardware keyboards. Also, one nice thing about the iPhone is the fact that mobile internet is seemingly mostly optimized for the mobile Safari browser.
20. Just FYI, surfing the forums with my shiny new iPhone it appears as though the mobile theme was really made with this platform in mind... everything looks and runs much smoother. So I guess for my part things are good!
21. Well, I'm glad that's the consensus, because I went and did it anyway. Now I'm app hunting every spare minute I get, trying to find the coolest (and preferably freest) apps available. Good times!
22. Okay, so I just started a new contract with AT&T last month. To go with it, I picked up a Samsung Impression. I like it, but I do have some minor issues with it. However, after reading a lot of peoples' opinions and trying some things myself, I see now that it is quite limited. As a big geek, I like to be able to do lots of different things with my gadgets... and the iPhone has apps for just about anything you can imagine. Sadly, there is not much support for the Impression's platform. I'd love a client app for IRC, for example... Communication Tube works most of the time, but it's hardly an ideal solution. There are many other such cases of an app my device just doesn't have available to it. I'm thinking about switching to an iPhone to broaden my mobile horizons. But I'm hesitant to switch from a hardware keyboard to a virtual one. Plus, I've heard the iPhones tend to drop their calls frequently. Is anyone here able to offer some insight?
23. Take a look at an unedited Jagged-Ear Pichu and a normal Pichu in a hex editor and look at byte 0x40. Bits 3 - 7 dictate the alternate form; Pokesav probably set that to the default value ("00000").
24. I dunno, I suspect maybe the MediaNet browser just sucks... in which case I'm not sure if anything can be done to help it.
25. There is a menu option that says "save your config" or something to that effect. You need to select that after you set your options. I'm not at home, or else I'd send you a copy of the config file I have along with a screenshot of the menu option I am referring to. EDIT: Nevermind, hang on, I attached a copy of my config to this post. EDIT 2: Also consider trying Kaarosu's config file in a later post of that same thread.
