  1. The only data in the save file that is confirmed to be encrypted is the PKM data; we do suspect the Battle Videos too, but as far as I know no one has actually cracked that structure yet. Decrypting the PKM data is not hard. It is explained in a straightforward manner right here. The PKM data is located in various places in the save file; boxed Pokémon are located in the "big block" or "storage block", and the rest of the Pokémon (party, Day-Care Center, roaming, etc.) are located in the "small block" or "general block". The general outline of save blocks are discussed right here, and what we know about loading and / or saving a save file is on that same page. If you have any specific questions, feel free to post 'em!
  2. Here's another one: a lot of forums provide an RSS feed for each forum or thread; this way, one can keep up with updates in a forum or thread in real time. I think we should do that. In fact, for some reason I thought we did do that, but I just went looking for such a thing and did not find it.
  3. Hey guys, here's some interesting news: Shigeru Miyamoto Discusses New Nintendo Hardware (1Up) I wonder if this is the successor to the DS? If so, it could mean that the new games will be on new hardware after all. Thoughts?
  4. There is an announcement at the top of every forum regarding the PKM files we used to host (and will someday re-host). I suggest you just wait for another announcement regarding said files, or else look through the PKM request forum to see what's up there.
  5. As far as I know no one has started that, but feel free to lead the way!
  6. Right now it only randomly generates Pokémon in a manner close to how wild Pokémon are generated in-game. So they can turn out to be shiny, but it's not a guarantee. That's odd, I thought I had the egg values taken care of. I'll have to look at it again soon, as it's been months since I've tinkered with my software. If I ever finish this program, it's something I will consider. But originally I was only going to generate 100% legal NDS Pokémon.
  7. Well, even today we still don't know 100% of the structure of Pokémon save files on the DS, which includes all of generation IV (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver). So there really is no definitive answer regarding which programs leave what kind of traces. If you're not okay with that, just don't hack your game. :\ I can tell you that the software written by me was made to be as close to the games' natural functions as possible; I can't really speak for anyone else's software.
  8. Yes, please tell me exactly what you wanted to do. I will look at this when I get home later... got caught up with school and other things over the weekend, which took longer than expected. :\ Also, I think everyone needs to seriously chill out here. I'm about ready to shut this thread down, and take it to PMs. Lazula, I am still trying to help you, so just relax.
  9. Well, I suppose. Then again, they could just make it DSi enhanced instead of exclusive, but the new features would be more limited that way.
  10. Well, then apparently there is another thread going on that I have not read yet (or lately), because I am missing some vital information here.
  11. Well, I guess I worded that wrong, because I didn't mean we should enforce rules on how to vote. More like guidlines. Meh, forget it... leave it to a bunch of hackers and programmers to overthink a simple vote. Just the last part that Wraith mentioned. I sincerely hope that's not the case. FYI, I like both SCV and Guested, and consider both to be friends. But I thought that Guested's logic made more sense than SCV's, so I went with Deoxys.
  12. The only thing that is plain to me is that you are trying to do this conversion in the first place. "They" are not the only source of help or info for this stuff, you simply chose to follow the advice presented in that site (which, incidentally, I took a look at). Frankly, it seems like their solution is a bit convoluted. Now, if you want my help, you can start by dropping the annoyed attitude. The only reason I posted was to give you advice that has worked for me and many others. I'm not sure why it's not working for you, so why don't you attach your original save file here so I can try to fix it myself?
  13. Hey Lazula? Why are you converting your save file in the first place? If you open up the NO$GBA config file and change the save type from "Compressed" or whatever to "Raw", open up your game in NO$GBA, and then save, you should be able to edit the file with Pokesav with no problems. To wit: clicky!
  14. lol... well, you could always just open the PKM up in a hex editor for now.
  15. We don't program Pokesav, so there's nothing we can really do to "look into it". But yes, Pokesav is full of glitches and omissions. Also, closing this thread now.
  16. Well, PPSE was written thus far in QT C++, so you might need to get that to compile. Then again, I don't know off the top of my head if the SVN contains QT specific libraries, so maybe any old C++ compiler would do the trick...? This is really more of an SCV question I guess.
  17. Yeah, I try to pay attention. That's an excellent point, and perhaps (for those who haven't voted yet) it would be a good idea to add a quick blurb in the first post of this thread explaining that users should vote based on the site's goals and ideals, rather than on a "cool factor" or whatever. FYI, I also got a bit of an odd vibe from that post SCV, but I knew what you meant.
  18. I don't think the PID has to match the Unown shape anymore in Gen IV. They use the "formes" byte now for that sort of thing.
  19. There're a couple holes in your logic there... namely, never has a brand new Pokémon RPG inducted a new generation on a home console system. Every new generation has officially started on a handheld system. So why would they change that now? If you ask me, the whole framework of the Pokémon RPG franchise has been built around the idea of portability, of "go out there and meet some rivals" and stuff. While the Wii is small and light, I don't think that's the type of platform the creators have in mind for that sort of thing. Additionally, the jump from Gameboy to Gameboy Color is pretty close to the jump from DS / DS Lite to DSi. So I see no reason why they couldn't just release the games as DSi enhanced or DSi exclusive games, a strategy which Nintendo stated was its intention when the DSi was first announced.
  20. I believe the HGSS ball value will remain blank even if traded to HGSS, although come to think of it, I'm not 100% sure. My guess is that if HGSS sees a blank value there and / or if it notes that the Pokémon's hometown was DPPt, it will check the DPPt ball value and forego the HGSS value entirely. Still, this is something worth looking into.
  21. That's besides the point that most people won't want to dedicate an entire gig or two SD card to just one game. Wait, can you even run DSiWare off an SD card?
  22. Ah, I had assumed his aim was to generate a valid PID. If not, then you're right of course.
  23. Actually, that's one of the major reasons why I didn't pick Dragonite. This community has changed quite a bit since the "old days", and Dragonite is, in my opinion, representative of the past.
  24. That won't work for every Pokémon though, right? Like Pokémon that can't be encountered using the PokéRadar?
  25. Project Pokémon is meant to be a community site though... I don't think SCV would want to be projected as the "head" of the site. But I'm just spitballin' here.... Interesting argument. To add to that, there's the fact that Project Pokémon is not just a hacking site, but also (eventually!) a site for anime reviews, game info, etc; kind of similar to how Deoxys can change forms. Deoxys also, to me anyway, represents a sort of science aspect that I believe is representative of our goals to be unified and logical in our development efforts and so forth. I think I'm going with Deoxys on this one too.
