  1. Conduct a double battle with Ditto and Smeargle on your side, making sure Smeargle still has sketch. Have Ditto transform into Smeargle, then have Ditto sketch the proper move. After the battle, Ditto will have the sketched move instead of Transform. Use a Heart Scale to relearn Transform, and repeat the process. In this way, Ditto can learn any move. I'm fairly certain this is the glitch. Its not all that hard to do, because there are plenty of locations ingame where there are double battles. Make sure your Smeargle knows the moves beforehand, to save time. In any case, you'd be better off just using Pokesav to have ditto learn the proper moves.
  2. Do you have any way of getting save file data to your computer? Thats the only way you could conserve the save data. Even then, if its busted enough it still might not work.
  3. No, he PMed me about it, its made with GIMP effects. Pretty creative.
  4. You don't actually need a threat list. That moveset works fine, although I would put in that if you're looking for a Latias that you can use more in the midgame and keep in much longer, give her Dragon Pulse. The power loss is hard to take, but its very surprising, and in my opinion it works much better with Recover then Draco Meteor can. Infernape, as a lead, has potential to work extremely well. I would highly suggest using Fake Out over U-Turn, since destroying a focus sash cripples any lead. As for the rest, I like that set. It looks like it would work well. As for Gyarados, I would reccomend running max attack and speed. Its an offensive set and having speed is nice, while 72 HP evs won't really do much. They're mainly fillers anyway. I've never thought of using Roar as a psuedo-taunt, and I suppose it would work. Just make sure you recognize Phazers when you see them. Latias: Already commented, see above Empoleon: A very effective set with a lot of potential, and pretty easy to use. Salamence: Salamence is quite easily the most powerful Dragon in OU, and taking a Draco Meteor from a Mixmence will quite literally kill pretty much anything. At all. Extremely powerful set. Gengar: A fine set, however I think some other pokemon might be better suited. Gengar, while a powerful pokemon, is truly designed to deal a ton of damage in the midgame. Your team has several pokemon also designed for this purpose. Something I think would help your team is a lategame cleanup pokemon. In general, that means using a choiced set. Specs Jolteon, Specs Alakazam, Scarf Porygon-Z, and several others can serve this purpose well. Gengar can still do its thing though, but I would give him a Life Orb. Expert Belt isn't all that useful, and Gengar couldn't care less about losing 10% HP when he's OHKOed by pretty much every move in the game. In general it looks like a team that has potential to be extremely powerful. I might make a request that you quickly look over the RMT format and update your post. Cheers!
  5. How did you make the background? It looks really cool. Actually, let me see if I can partially guess. First, you did a gradient on the background. Then, you took a white brush to make all the dots (on a new layer), duplicated that layer, blurred the bottom one. Repeat that process at various opacities to get desired effects. Then... idk for the cool brushed effect.
  6. Tier Discussion Rules: Welcome to the Tier Discussion forum. This forum is dedicated to discussing any changes our community feels the need to make from Smogon's Tiers, which are currently used as our standard. Changes should only be proposed with the following three tiers: OU, UU, and Uber. With that said, please don't post ridiculous changes, like asking for Kyogre to be moved down to OU, which isn't going to happen. Proposing a Change: If you feel that a pokemon in OU, UU, or Uber just isn't in the right place, feel free to post a topic about it. However, please use this format: Pokemon you wish to change: Tier the Pokemon is currently in: Tier you propose to move it to: Reasons why you wish to move it: Also, you MUST make your thread a Poll. You can do this by going into Additional Options and checking the box next to "Yes, post a poll with this thread." Your poll should have two options: 1. I agree with this change 2. I disagree with this change Since this board does not have much activity, I will be able to watch any threads that get created in here. The poll will be unofficial; it is just preliminary to see if there is some support for your idea. If an idea gets support, I will create an official thread and people will state arguments for and against it. Then, the community as a whole will vote on your change, and if it passes, the change will be made. All Other Threads: This forum doesn't need many other threads then proposing changes. However, if you want to discuss any aspects of the tiers, then feel free to do so. Thank you for reading, and have an excellent day! ~ Illithian
  7. Because that file would be absolutely ginormous and completely pointless to make people download every file instead of just see links. Sure, but not right now. When I get home I'll see if I'm inspired. That would be helpful. Definitely.
  8. Team synergy can never be tested on paper. The thing about team synergy is its definition varies depending on the team. For example, an offensive team needs ways to counter the counters for your pokemon. ie Tyranitar counters your Latias, so you should have some way to counter Tyranitar. Unfortunately, the majority of Tyranitar are either the dragon dance or choice band varients, which often carry pursuit. In any case, play with your team. See what pokemon destroy you, and figure out how to destroy them. Thats how you test team synergy. Once you figure out problems, then we can work. Latias needs thunderbolt, its essential for her to take out Suicune, Vaporeon, and especially Empoleon, whom don't mind Surf or Draco meteor.
  9. Press conference at 5 (Where is this coming from?) "Ugh, now I actually have to go to work..." Oddly, one of my assistants was there to pick me up. But he stayed silent the entire time. Boring lad he is. I felt sick. I always feel sick getting up, and actually, I usually still feel sick even at the office. "Ah, your the new manager. Good to see you Mr..." "SilentFox, sir," I said. "...Yeah... that." He told me to sit down, and that he was the chairman of the club. He was a bit short on words and bumbles around but hes a fine boss... as long as coffee doesn't spill on you. (What?) "We expect a good showing this season. Now I know the preseason friendlies haven't gone your way, but their against much more prestigious (Need a different word) opponents. Don't get your trousers in a bunch, lad." (Weird grammar, but idk how to fix it) "How you say ..... very cheeky?" I said as I didn't believe I was getting tense "Um .... I was joking" said the chairman very bluntly. (I'm completely lost at this point) "I'm sorry sir , I don't feel all that well," I said sheepishly. "Well, off to see your squad," He said, a bit awkwardly, as he banged his knee on the table. "Okay... see you." "Yeah yeah..." I looked at the clock. It was five PM. I was late. I sprinted down the hall, possibly tripping someone and knocking over a few people but I got there in time. "Question here for (For or from?) Ian Davies of the Rushden Sentinel: SilentFox, Where do you think Rushden and Diamonds will end up this season?" said the newscaster just as I was sitting down. (I added this part in. Made it look better) SilentFox: "Isn't that what you guys are for, predictions? I only think about the fixture ahead, one game at a time." (I'm lost at what a fixture is) "Micky Thomas here for (For or from?) the Morning Sun: Do you think that Matt Jones is still the unquestioned leader of the team?" SilentFox: "Of course. When the going got rough last season, he pulled everyone together and you guys remember the 25 save game?" "Jamey Ricard for Sky Sports: I hear you've been having problems getting transfers though. Why is that?" SilentFox: "Nothing to be concerned about it's just some work permits that need to be approved." "Is that all?" I said. I found out that these press conferences take hours but I actually didn't mind. Rushden is a conference side after all; most criticism comes locally so I wont have too rough a go of it. I hope. From there I called the boys up for a team meeting. Heres the Starting 11 boys Jones-Captain-GK Huckersby-RB Mackin-CB Checkenko-LB Miles-RM Patrick-CM Gamble-CM Prescott-LM Jamey-CAM Carlson-ST Obeka-ST Subs- Jenkins,Peterling,Eastly,Fornot,Bordon (Aaaaah, this format has to be wrong but I have no idea how to fix it) No one argued. I was surprised. Jones "jonesy" as his teammates called him wanted to speak with me though. "Gaffer, I want to tell you I won't let you down... I heard you back there. Not bad for a savage." "...Russians are not savages. Anyway, I really hope so; your 36 now, not much time left, comrade." "Yeah I know, me and the boys are heading out... that ok?" "For now, yeah... we've done our training, I did some talking, What else must I do? I'll let you guys go for now." "For now? What are you playing at," he said, confused. "Well Its my first day and I don't want to be so "communist," so go ahead before I change my mind." "Want to come?" "I'll be designated driver," I said. Didn't want to tarnish my image by getting drunk, you know. I still don't understand England and the FA rules but I will in time. Only qualifications I had is having my UEFA Super License. I'm not in Russia anymore... am I...? "Cheers," ...I guess. --- Wow, theres so many problems with that I gave up on bolding all the changes I made. Now the bolded parts are things that confused me, italicized parts are questions, and the rest is fixed. Anyway, you gotta learn how to write better. First of all you had about 80 million tense shifts, which is already a problem. I didn't understand the perspective of the story at all. Also, you have to learn to put in periods and commas. You don't write like you talk. You write so its clear. When talking, you can use all the slang you want, and in writing, you can convey that, but you still have to use all hte grammar. Else it doesn't make any sense at all. For quotation, it has to end with a comma or an ending punctuation. Words preceeding it have to end with a comma. Ex: I said, "I like cheese." "I like cheese," I said. "Do you like cheese?" I asked. Separate paragraphs by a line break. No tabs in forum posts, so use a line break. Double return does the trick. This is a line break. "Hi there!" (THIS IS A LINE BREAK) "Hello, how are you?" I responded to the overenthusiastic child. Anyway, thats all for now. Good luck.
  10. Narwhal, I'm thinking we might want to make a new banner. Our current banner is a little... boring? Sorry I've been gone. Real life has taken its toll, with fall sports starting, school coming up, getting ready for all of that, its been pretty crazy. Still I hope I can do some art work every once in a while. Anyway, heres my reasoning why we might want to end this thread. Firstly, I'm going to say we should end this at page 100. I'd be willing to go through 100 full pages, copy the links for every piece of artwork we've made, index them, and send them to you, Narwhal, so you can put them up on the front page so people can easily browse through our archive. I'm not going to do this until the thread gets closed, and the larger it gets, the less likely I am to want to get it done. Secondly, theres no point to having an absolutely massive thread. I do like how our thread has plenty of fun discussion in it, and I think that should be continued, but we shouldn't let this thread get huge. Theres no reason to. We might as well create a new thread, to start fresh, because all the artwork of the artists has massively improved since the beginning. In any case I think it'd be better to have a new thread. Finally, we could archive this thread. I already stated in post one that I don't want to index all the artwork here if it gets to be like 200 pages, but at 100, I'd be willing to, and its not so great a task. It would look good for any requester if we have a 100 page archive. On some forums with a 20 page limit, that would be a full 5 seperate posts. =o In any case, I actually think a 100 page limit should be created and enforced, just so threads don't get too big and it allows new threads to spring up. Many people are intimidated by giant threads, but newer, smaller ones encourage people to come in and read whats been happening.
  11. Shameless bump. Whilst I do think this method can get old easily, it still has plenty of potential to help new people learn smudging.
  12. I suppose my signature method has become extremely overused through time. Still, I find ways to make use of it, with originality. Please rate my new signature.
  13. Edit: Toffeuy stole the wish. Granted, but then all the voice actors for the dub would have to work overtime so they would all quit, and the dubbed version would stop coming out. I wish I had stronger legs. I'm still one of the slowest in cross country.
  14. Just for accuracy, Garchomp is Uber because his impact on OU was too great. In any case, I like neither. Salamence lost his appeal long ago, and Garchomp is simply an overrated 'cool' pokemon designed for raving ten year olds. Which is fine, but its not interesting.
  15. Or you could just continually breed your beldum with ditto until you got the nature you wanted, then have the new beldum hold the everstone. Or just cheat.
  16. If this is the latest post in this section, then this Competitive Battling section truly has died... I'm going to be perfectly honest with you. If you can't even see the fairly LARGE section that says "Rate my Team," how in the world do you ever intend for us to expect your smart enough to play competitively? You just failed the first impressions. I could turn this post into a rant about how idiocy is a plague, but to be honest, anyone who cares, knows, and all who don't are part of it.
  17. I've been gone for a while, but I might as well rate. Lucario: ...oookay, that lead is completely pointless in most any situation. As an anti-lead, Lucario has some amount of potential, OHKOing newer now-common leads such as Empoleon. Let me explain. Lucario @Focus Sash Ability: Inner Focus Nature: Lonely Evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe - Close Combat - Extremespeed - Crunch - Counter An outdated set can come back again. Although many of the leads it countered (Aerodactyl, Tyranitar, Infernape) have fallen out of style, it still has potential. Fake Out leads are virtually nonexistant but the small few are easily countered by this lead. This Lucario can, fairly simply, take care of Azelf, Swampert, and Metagross. His rarity can often give opponents a false sense of security. Abuse it. Counter is the perfect kill utility for irritating Tanks such as Swampert, who aren't troubled by any of your attacks. Close Combat or Crunch takes care of Metagross and Azelf respectively, combined with an Extremespeed to take care of their focus sash. For rare Infernapes, Close Combat will do more damage then they'd like and Extremespeed hits their low defense. Aerodactyl falls to a similar end. Empoleon is especially scared of your Close Combat, without a proper resistance. Counter is perfect once you've killed the lead, since the next pokemon is most certainly one with Earthquake. If you've kept your Focus Sash, you can dispose of them. Umbreon: Doubles and Singles don't mix. Remove him if you want a proper rate. Scizor: Your Scizor tank is nonfunctional because you're trying to make it a revenge killer. It won't work. A Swords Dance set is a sweeper, easily disposable. Too offensive to be a Tank. Not only that, but although Bulky Swords Dance can function, it almost requires a full set of entry hazards, aka Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, and Spikes, to function correctly. Its good for Stall teams, where it can lie behind in a fortified wall until it finds a good time to set up. Your team doesn't fit the profile. I would suggest the Choice Band varient. Much easier to fit into almost any team. If not, a simple Swords Dancer with a Life Orb and some speed investment should do the trick. And if you decide to ignore me, replace one of your moves with Roost. Manectric: There are simply so many better options. Why choose him? I suggest an Electivire. Absol: Absol is so easily countered in OU that its almost ridiculous to consider using him. Dark is countered by Fighting and Bug. Fighting is one of the most used types in OU. Someone will come in and kill you before you can cause any real damage. Also, who does he counter? Who can Absol attempt to kill? What sweeper's rampage will he stop? Absol, while having an excellent attack stat, is cursed with horrid defenses and speed. Also, that Focus Sash wont be useful, more then 95% of teams carry some sort of entry hazard, and unfortunately, those that don't generally carry plenty of priority, which completely locks out your Absol. Leafeon: Leafeon is bad. I put him with Manectric. USseful on paper but not in practice. Theres lots to replace here. Electivire is a good cohice for Manectric. Vaporeon or Suicune can replace Umbreon. Absol... possibly Tyranitar. Leafeon... hmmm, maybe a Latias, Azelf, Jirachi. Make some changes, and more rates can be made.
  18. Well, the brighter the render, the harder it is to make a sig out of. I would reccomend starting over and using a much darker render for your first sig. Once you get something you like, you can start playing around more with effects until you get a good outcome for a brighter sig. Still, for the style I did, theres a lot of lighting that goes into it, and you have to realize that the brighter the sig starts out as, the brighter it will end. =\
  19. That would be highly unbeneficial to the game itself. Fire and Water both could only have Ground and Rock as secondary types. As for Grass, Ice, Bug, and Steel give some more interesting options. Still, its not a good idea. Imagine this kind of a scenario: Starter 1: Water/Rock Weak to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Electric, Grass Hmmm... Well... crap. =.= That was epiphany-ish, because I just realized that would be (aside from gimmicky and pointless and stupid) really interesting. You could design a Water-rock starter, a Fire-ground starter, and a Grass-bug (or steel, but thats a little overpowered with resistances...) for some moderately original combinations. Water-rock has options for some pretty good type coverage. We could make an OU Omastar that would be actually usable. Fire-ground has some pretty viable options. Grass-bug has even MORE options, and thats not even thinking about Grass-steel. In any case, theres potential in that idea.
  20. Swampert on your team confuses me. What exactly does he do? CB Swampert is weird as a lead, especially running a SR set. Especially trying to be defensive. Bulkydos is an extremely potent physical wall especially with rest-talk. Scizor can take most any physical hits like a champ and Blissey can do a fantastic job of taking out a physical sweeper. However Swampert doesn't really do anything. Perhaps replacing him with a more offensive pokemon would be a good choice. Secondly your team is utterly walled by Skarmory and is massively lacking in special attacks. You have ONE ice move on your team. Considering how powerful Ice moves are, dealing x4 damage to some of OU's biggest offensive threats, I would reccomend having at least two. To be honest, replace Breloom. The rest of your team has synergy but Breloom doesn't. Replace him for a powerful special sweeper, one with lots of versatility. Randomly, lots of good options are Celebi, Heatran, Porygon-z, Azelf, and Gengar. Of those, I think scarfed P-z is good, and Gengar is good as well. You have a big Zapdos weakness. HP Grass Zapdos takes care of Swampert, Gyarados with T-bolt, Scizor & Breloom with Heat Wave. Blissey stalls it, but that won't be too much of a problem for most teams. Also who does Scizor pass Swords Dance to? =.= To me it would be much better to switch Baton Pass for Brick Break, giving you an exceedingly powerful sweeper. Steel and Fighting provide neutral coverage against every type and nearly every pokemon in OU save Kingdra. It'd be a good opening for a sweep. Still your Scizor will have big problems with Celetran. In any case your team needs more ice moves, a special sweeper and a new lead. Perhaps a specially defensive Zapdos. You'd be hard pressed to figure out a good moveset, since your team benefits a lot from both Heat Wave and HP Ice. I would say HP Ice is more important then Heat Wave although thats a tough call. However if you can forego Light Screen, you could run both, although thats quite risky. In any case run Calm and 248 HP / 224 SpD / 36 Spe.
  21. Oh. Thanks for the compliment. You could start in the Introductions Forum.
  22. For starters, I don't think the 2nd stat should affect the water-fire-grass triangle. That means water has extremely limited options. Grass is resisted by Fire, Grass, Poison, Flying, Bug, Dragon, and Steel. Grass is also super effective against Ground and Rock. Water-anything aside from those types would work. For fire, water is resisted by Water, Grass, and Dragon, and is super effective against Ground and Rock. Lots of options for Fire. Finally grass. Fire is resisted by Fire, Water, Rock, and Dragon, whilst is super effective against Grass, Ice, Bug and Steel. So long as the starters aren't one of those other types, then we can start talking.
  23. I'm sorry but most of us aren't interested in tutoring someone in Photoshop starting from absolutely nothing. Play around with brushes and look up other tutorials. (and use mine for that matter) Photoshop is not so much a difficult program to use as it is complicated; the more you spend time with it the more you'll learn.
