  1. Does anyone know if this glitch was one of the bugs fixed for the v1.1 release of FireRed and LeafGreen? Or was it only discovered in time to be repaired for Emerald?
  2. Sure was... but sadly it was never sold as part of a combo set in North America. It was sold only at one store, on the entire continent. The North American version Box is now pretty scarce, even on eBay.
  3. Yeah, I'd say that's probably why. Although these Island codes are the only times I've ever used a cheating device on a Pokemon game, I was pretty picky about only trying them after I'd obtained pretty much everything and finished all the "quests" in the game so as not to interfere with anything. After using these codes on my Emerald cart, I legitimately transferred an Eon Ticket from my Ruby game by mixing records with it, and that worked successfully (the pamphlet that comes with the Eon Ticket E-reader card warns that the transfer may not work "if you or your friend have a modified save", so I assume the AR didn't do anything untoward with my game, lol. Since these codes do cause the islands to appear on the town map, I'd say these codes are pretty close (if not exactly) to replicating what your cart would be after getting the event legitimately and trashing the Wonder Card. I can't even get into the Mystery Gift section on my games, because it always tells me the wireless adapter isn't connected.
  4. Ah, maybe you're right, yeah. It was a long time ago I scanned the card, but that does ring a bell. Is it similar to D/P/Pt, where you can go back later and look at or delete Wonder Cards, or does it just automically dissapear after you've received it? When you talk about their showing up on the map, do you mean Fr/Lg or Emerald? Navel Rock, Birth Island and Faraway Island aren't techincally within Hoenn, so I don't think they'd show up on the Emerald map (Southern Island obviously does). I haven't used any codes on my FireRed game, so I'm not sure how it reacts to the ticket codes. EDIT: Okay, after backing up my save ('cuz I wanted to wait to activate the islands 'til I'd beaten the game) I just tried using the AR islands codes I had for my FireRed (v1.0), and Navel Rock and Birth Island did show up on my town map pages; but only after I'd sailed to them at least once.
  5. Nope; if I'd known of such a code, I'd have opted to use it instead. I'm not even really sure how Mystery Gift in Emerald and FireRed/LeafGreen work, honestly... do they even have Wonder Cards, or make you pick up the gift from a delivery guy? Bulbapedia seems to make reference to Wonder Cards assocation with Mystery Gift beginning with Diamond and Pearl. I never went through the process in either game, though, so I can't say how it really worked. When I (legitimately) obtained the Eon Ticket through Ruby's Mystery Event feature, the item was simply deposited directly into my Key Items pocket... and I imagine Emerald and Fr/Lg's Gift feature worked the same way. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think using an AR to obtain these tickets at a Pokemart and then enabling their triggers is really much of a cheat. Living in Canada, I was never able to get them legimiately anyway, despite the fact I'd have been very willing to go out to an event to get them. And at this late stage, there'll be no more GBA events, period. So if you want those tickets, the codes I referenced are probably your best bet.
  6. Ah... well, that's entirely possible, but I'm not sure. North America's never gotten as many good events as Japan seems to, although the DS Generation seem to be slowly improving on that record. In any case, the only way to obtain any of the tickets now is with an Action Replay (other than the Eon Ticket, which can be obtained by mixing records with a Ruby/Sapphire game that recieved the ticket legitimately). Not all the codes out there are so crude as warping and the like... there's a set of codes for Emerald that enable you to buy the tickets at a Pokemart, and then trigger their respective activation flags in the game; allowing you to go to the ship, get the surprised expressions, etc. That duplicates the experience of getting the tickets legitimately from an event as closely as is possible, and it's the method I used. I had to find a used GBA AR for that express purpose, as I'm not typically a user of cheating devices. Living in Canada, though, Nintendo really left me no other choice. Perhaps I would've been willing to drive down to NY to attend an event had I the time, however I don't often have that kind of time free (or at the right time, to attend an event).
  7. The items exists to be obtained... I'm in Canada, though, so we never had any Gen I, II or III events; period. I believe there were at least a few promotional events in the U.S. at which someone could obtain the Ticket over Mystery Gift, though. That seems unlikely, since Fr/Lg were the first games in which you could obtain the AuroraTicket... and they were released before Emerald.
  8. Ah, yeah. I suppose that was a hassle. Although I do imagine that most people who were playing Gold or Silver had also played the originals, and hopefully still had one. As long as they were willing to restart their game and play through for a few minutes 'til you were able to trade, I suppose it wasn't too bad getting the Kanto starters, though. I have to admit, it wouldl've been far more convenient had there been such easy methods of backing up and restoring a save file as there are now, and were with the GBA games. Restarting for the other starters isn't a hassle at all now, because you can always restore your original save afterwards.
  9. To obtain the Johto starter in Emerald, you only need to complete the National Dex (minus Deoxys and Jirachi)... which only requires trading with Ruby and Sapphire, for a total of 7 missing Pokemon; so not that much of a hassle. The national dex did require that you use Fr/Lg to obtain the remaining Kanto and Johto Pokemon, though. You could also use the Gamecube games to get the Johto ones, however all the Johto Pokemon are catchable if you have access to all the Gen III GBA games (preferably 3 copies of Fr or Lg, since you can only catch 1 of the Legendary Beasts in each).
  10. He only said the Eon Ticket itself works in Emerald, however the method by which you obtain the thing in Emerald is different than for Ruby/Sapphire. As you've said, the North American Emerald doesn't use the E-Reader. What you need to do is mix records with a Ruby or Sapphire game which has recieved the Eon Ticket from the E-Reader card. Make sure the Ruby/Sapphire game is in the "primary" trade position (with the purple plug of the link-cable connected to its GBA unit), and the ticket will automatically be transferred to Emerald. I've done it, and can guarantee it works.
  11. I haven't read up any new info on HgSs in a while, and most of the confirmed details in the first post were news to me... good news, of course. These games really are shaping up to be the definitive Pokemon games, to date. They seem to include nearly every desirable feature from all of their predecessors, whereas most others games up 'til now have had a mix and match of them. I'm especially pleased (and surprised) that GBA-compatibility was retained for these games. Although I'd always hoped for it, I figured Nintendo probably wouldn't bother since I'm sure they'd prefer people go out and buy DSi's instead of retaining DSLites.
  12. Yeah, of course. I've never actually used Pokesav on my retail game card's save (if I really want to edit a Pokemon I've captured, I'll usually dump the save, edit, run the save from my Cyclo and either deposit it to ranch or trade it to my other game... then withdraw or trade it back to the retail card it started on and release its original version) I only ask because I've been wanting to tweak my retail game's list of already recieved mystery gift ID#'s (Platinum has a few that maybe shouldn't be in there, lol). Does the PPSE have this feature yet, or is it on the list of things to come? I'm not at home this weekend, so I can't install it to find out.
  13. So this is the Pokemod program (renamed, I guess) that was being talked about for the last little while? This one's not supposed to leave "traces" of editing in the save file the way that Pokesav currently does, right?
  14. They don't need to be, but just because the applicable items aren't tradeable between two Pt's doesn't mean the alt. formes won't be in Hg/Ss. It would be easy enough to just include some way in the new games of acquiring the Griseous Orb and Gracidea Flower.
  15. Ditto on that... even the choosing Giratina last part, lol.
  16. On the CD I got with the adapter, there were in "x:\drivers\0609" There should be a *.zip archive in that folder, containing the driver files you can use to install the adapter.
  17. I assume you reset Emerald between those two captures? Only one of the two are supposed to be wandering around the wild... in both Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald, you need the Eon Ticket to capture the other.
  18. If he knows somebody that has a Latias, they can trade and then immediately trade back. With Latias registered in the Pokedex, you're able to see what route the roaming one is located on under the "Area" tab.
  19. I hadn't really owned a cheat device since the GB/GBC gameshark quite a while ago, however I recently purchased an Action Replay Max from codejunkies.com, in order to get access to the event islands in Emerald and FireRed. I recieved the AR a couple days ago, and I found these codes for Emerald today, which are actual enablers for the in-game event as opposed to just warp codes to the islands: http://www.kh-vids.net/showpost.php?p=39291&postcount=1 My main question regarding these, is whether or not using the AR will leave some kind of trace in my save file. I'm not that familiar with the way the GBA/SP Action Replay works, so right now I'm just holding off until I get the opinion of someone with a bit more experience. I'm hoping that these codes are designed to trigger the same flag in the save that recieving the tickets via mystery gift would've at the action event. If using it will leave some kind of evidence, what I'll probably do is backup my unmodified save file, use the codes, capture the Pokemon on the islands, trade them to another game, and then restore Emerald to its unmodified state. I'm hoping I'll be able to find some similar enabler codes for FireRed, as well. I haven't looked into those yet, though.
  20. Possible, but unlikely. Perhaps 1 person in a traditional Aqua/Magma uniform, but currently working for Team Rocket. Including a whole other Team, though, would be awkward.
  21. Yeah, Birch may show up (or maybe May), however I seriously doubt Team Aqua or Magma will. Team Rocket already fills the role of inept idiots quite well. At the most, perhaps during the Hoenn legendary side-quest of these games, there'll be some new Team Rocket grunts or admins that make reference to being former members of Team Magma, or Aqua. I'd be cool with that. It would provide an explanation for why Team Rocket could know about the titans, and be after them.
  22. Is this why all the Pokemon I've Pal Parked to Platinum in my recent save dump show up as having invalid trash bytes, when everything else reads as legit?
  23. I'll probably be waiting for Pokemod, to do any direct editing on my save file (at least, one that I'll uploading back to the retail cart). At the moment, I think I'll just use it to edit Pokemon from my savefile, run that savefile from my Cyclo, deposit the edited Pokemon to My Pokemon Ranch and withdraw it with my retail cart. However, are there functions that you can do with Pokesav that won't leave traces? Primarily, all I really want to do right now is clear my game's list of received Wonder Cards. If I did that, would Pokesav leave a trace; or is it only more involved edits that cause it to do that?
  24. jeez, these games are shaping up to be elaborate. Just when you think we've seen the high point of this generation with Platinum, these titles show up and promise to be possibly the best Pokemon games released, to date.
  25. Maybe it's a Special Limited Edition McDonald's DSi, lol... with Ronald McDonald's face on the front. In which case, I'd pass.
