  1. Hm... I don't think under the natural conditions of the game that line is ever supposed to say "Met at lvl. 0". I think the met information was probably input incorrectly. I have a Turtwig that I got as an egg from someone else. The lines are: Jun. 20, 2009 Link trade Egg obtained. Jun. 20, 2009 Jubilife City Egg apparently hatched.
  2. Ah, well, in the case of the save file... unfortunately we don't have a complete map of the save file structure(s), so it is technically possible that any save editing program does something (or doesn't do something) that isn't kosher. I believe Pokégen helps cover itself by allowing you to, for example, set the Pokédex to update for all of the Pokémon you currently own, thus fixing any continuity errors as far as having "caught" the Pokémon you hack into the game. Other than that, though, if you're only editing Pokémon in the save file, there probably won't be any problems.
  3. I just want to clear something up. If the software you are using is accurate enough, and you know what you are doing for sure, there is no difference between a Pokémon created by a program and one encountered in the retail carts. There seems to be this notion that there are PHANTOM SPY BYTES or something in the data that give away that the Pokémon in question was hacked, and that honestly just doesn't exist. As Codr mentioned, there is a checksum for every Pokémon, and there are obvious (and some less obvious) things that just don't jive in the data structure (incorrect trash bytes, invalid PID / IV combinations, invalid shininess, etc). But like I said, if the software is good and you know what you're doing, you won't have a problem.
  4. Good answer. Closed!
  5. When you "capture" a Pokémon in the Pal Park, your met date is set to the day you encountered it in the Pal Park. The date is not retained from Gen III. The location is set to either Hoenn or Kanto; there is no legal way for a Pokémon's encounter location to be Pal Park. The Poké Ball remains the same as from Gen III.
  6. Isn't the original met date of the Pokémon sort of moot? Technically, you can start playing and leave the game on for days (while plugged in). Therefore, the date met doesn't have to be the date you started the game. So I seriously doubt anyone could ever verify what initial seeds are possible to any degree of certainty. I believe Sabresite told me a long time ago that he thinks egg PIDs (or IVs?) are generated using a variation of the Mersenne twister. I don't know that anything's ever been proven though... probably not.
  7. It is more than possible to manipulate the Pokédex on an individual basis. If you check out my save structure help thread in the Save R&D forum, you'll find that Jiggy-Ninja researched the Pokédex structures for DPPt, and he documented them quite thoroughly. I think someone else figured out the offsets for HGSS as well, and the structure is nearly identical to Pt, so all of the necessary information is there. Editing the Pokédex was the last thing I was working on for my own projects before I stopped working on them. If I ever get back to it, that's where I'd pick it back up.
  8. I personally would never fault someone for simply not knowing or understanding something. If you really did read through the forums and you have questions, we're not gonna burn you at the stake. First of all, my generator program is not 100% complete. For the purposes of generating a common Pokémon that you can encounter in DPPt, it should be fine; however, no matter what you do to create a Pokémon, you should check it against Sabresite's Legality Checker program. Beyond that, you don't need anything other than your preferred generator tool. Any Pokémon that is legal for DPPt will also be legal in HGSS, of course. As I said before, as long as you check your PKM files with Sabresite's Legality Checker, you need nothing else. No prerequisites are "necessary", but bear in mind that unforseen consequences will always be possible when you break the game's sequence. Plus, we don't have a perfect map of the DS save files, so there's no telling what as of yet uknown values might or might not be generated / important throughout the game's progression.
  9. Wow. Glad to see someone made progress on this! Any chance we could see a textual transcription of the battles extracted? Or better yet, some method to graphically replay them?
  10. Just to try and clear this up, the people behind R4 apparently stopped producing new units a long time ago. So any "new" models are supposedly cheap knock-offs. And even the real R4 units are outdated by now. Either way, I'm glad to see things worked out for you, scorcher9910!
  11. Well, that looks to me like a cheap knockoff, so it might be really terrible. The brands Pingouin7 listed are reputable. Personally, I have an AK2 and it is beautiful.
  12. But why? Pokesav is incomplete and outdated. >_>
  13. Hey, this. So yeah.

    PKM File Map

Here are some relevant links: http://www.projectpokemon.org/wiki/Pokemon_NDS_Structure http://www.projectpokemon.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_NDS_Save_File_Structure FYI: In the future, please search for answers before making new threads. I'll forgive you, however, if you check out the DS save help thread and at least try to contribute.
  15. Putting the PKM file on the flash drive will reflect nothing in the game. You must use some kind of program to dump the PKM file into your save file. Any of the above mentioned programs should work. Look here for a (slightly out of date) list of programs, or check out Save Research & Development.
  16. Or did you already use Pokesav and you're just not seeing the PKM in your game? In that case, use a different program, like PokeGen, PPSE, or PKMDS Box.
  17. I am also getting the date error. By the way, nice job! This is easily the most polished Pokémon storage system editor thingy I've seen yet. I am looking forward to seeing what else you come up with!
  18. I just deleted a bunch of posts which entailed nothing but arguments. Guys, if you want to argue with each other, do it via PM. I especially will not tolerate blatant insults, such as calling someone stupid.
  19. First of all: The Bulbapedia page is way outdated, so use this page instead. Second of all: check out my VB.Net PKMDS Pokémon code library here, and let me know if you have any questions.
  20. Probably... then again, with the next generation coming out on the DS as well, those values could still serve a purpose, assuming Pokémon can be traded back and forth with the new games. But yeah, I guess they are at least currently unused.
  21. Guys, I created a program specifically for this task months ago. Find it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HQBUHIM1
  22. Hey MarkusE, haven't seen or heard from you in a while! It would be pretty awesome if we could get this one worked out (not to mention some of the other unknown values). I'll be around a bit today if you wanna hit me up on the IRC to try and get this going.
  23. No, you can only put one in the 'Walker at once.
