  1. My guessed timeline and theories: Red, Blue (Or Green), Yellow started the Pokemon world. Not many things were known, like breeding, training, etc, but people still had the basic understanding of getting a pokemon from the wild and training it to obey, Gold, Silver, Crystal happened 3 years after RBY where there was the discovery of eggs and pokemon breeding. Trainers now understood how to breed pokemon to get baby forms, or pass on moves. The Pokevirus was also discovered sometime around here, along with Trainers having their Pokemon hold berries. Unique pokeballs were created and used. Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald happened on a close timeline of GSC. Perhaps a few years afterwards where new pokeballs, breeding, and such were now frequently used by trainers. The discovery of powerful legendary pokemon created cults (Team Magma and Aqua) where they tried to catch the legendary for their own use. Sadly a new trainer beat them with ease and shot down the ill planned ideas before they ruined the world by getting Rayquaza to rebalance the world of earth and water and send the raging legends back to sleep (where soon afterwards the lone trainer went and caught them for personal use). FireRed and LeafGreen, as remakes happened along the same timeline of RBY, with a few changes that could have easily happend in the pokemon world (New E4, etc). Trainers could have their pokemon hold berries (which were actually quite hard to get in FRLG since there was no time or areas to plant them) but it wasnt until the discovery of hold item uses was this very popular. My theory is that before the discovery a few people did watch wild pokemon hold things and occasionally use them in battle, so had their own pokemon do the same. It wasnt until the Islands Opened up (which happens after the E4) fully where there was a day care center for trainers to leave 2 pokemon at. My theory is that durring the lone trainer travels, different from the RBY lone trainer's, this trainer knew more about pokemon (thus hold items) though didnt know too much about breeding until the grand discovery. A theory here would be that it took a few years for this trainer to not only beat all 8 gyms and defeat the E4, but also complete Bill's machine to link with trainers in RSE where Hoenn was just starting to boom. After the link and team rocket finally being put down for rest in Kanto the trainer could then devote time to pokemon breeding if desired. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum was a time of trouble for the Pokemon world. Breeding was now a staple part of Pokemon training, specialized training was also at an all time high (EV training), and there were new devices used for it. Training items (power items) were expensive, but highly skilled trainers could buy them after proving themselves worthy. (perhaps the power items are dangerous and it takes a skilled trainer to use them?) Different formes of rare pokemon were discovered by a few, and pokemon started to evolve into newer stronger species (perhaps due to the climate giving them a need to get stronger? It is cold with a huge mountain range in the middle). Pokemon became stronger in new ways, and old weak pokemon showed signs of great strength (physical/special split) though some pokemon were not able to adapt well. Team Galatic strived to rid the world of evil, though due to corruption and the lone trainer their plan became faulty. Thanks to other legendary pokemon their plan was stopped and they reformed to seeking new forms of energy for everyone. (This time I'm sure the lone trainer didnt really need to stop Team Galatic. Giratina popped up in Platinum and took care of things fine, and the lake guardians stopped the destruction of the universe by holding Dialga and Palkia's powers back) Heart Gold and Soul Silver will probably be along the same lines as remakes as GSC, though again like in FRLG there will be some changes. I'm guessing since the discovery of eggs breeding boomed into such as it is today, it will not be a rediscovery of eggs but rather a recap of 'they were discovered as pokemon eggs here in Jhoto' to teach the new trainer what they are and how to utilize breeding. They said the timeline starts 3 years after FRLG and since in my theory FRLG was already beginning to understand breeding, though few knew how to use it well (it was still near where most people who played had no clue how to breed effectively) so now like in DPPT breeding will be fairly usual along with specialized training. Again, only top trainers know how to do such (notice that all NPC trainers do NOT, and only trainers such as those who play the game do it and even some of them dont know how to do it very well or even have no clue). Maybe they will give you a Togepii egg or a baby pokemon egg just to recap the discovery and teach new trainers how to take care of baby pokemon? If you think about it, the NPC trainers sometimes have baby pokemon so they could have gotten one from Mr Pokemon or the Professor to help in discovering more about them. Though if they do say 'Oh we dont know what this is at all' then at least they are trying to be faithful, though confusing thousands in the process. I hope they just say 'we're not sure what is in this egg' or 'we dont know what pokemon egg this is' since if you think about it baby pokemon are fairly rare to see on trainers. And Togepii is really rare since there are not many in the wild (even the pokedex says Togekiss is rare, Togetic and Togepi usually stay away from trainers thus you dont see them in the wild). So a Togepi egg would be fine since its a rare sight in the pokemon world. As for the NPC world vs Our Real Life WiFi world, yes we know more then them and even the professors. We have tools to extract information, the knowledge of breeding that actually came from us (no NPC discovered its use. We found out more about it ourselves. Yes it was programmed into the game but there were no official guides on how to breed), and we can catch legendaries because we know where to look. We know how to breed rare pokemon, how to train stronger pokemon, and even get legendaries to obey us because we are the true top trainers. We all defeated the champion at some point, we beat the gyms and E4, and we discovered what makes a pokemon really strong. ...... WALL OF TEXT ATTACK!!!
  2. True, though I still wonder if there will ever be a game where you can join the bad guys. I remember the guy that asked you to join Team Rocket on Nugget Bridge. Shame you always were forced to say 'no' lol
  3. I'm hoping that we can go to Jhoto and Kanto like the old games. Though it would still be fun to have one master game where you can go to Kanto all the way to Sinnoh! Sadly there was already an interview where the idea of an MMO was shot down. Pokemon is handheld only, and even with WiFi its still mainly a single player game...
  4. Edited, re-wrote, and otherwise fixed the entire page to be 100% accurate and easy to understand. Holy crapola there was a lot of bad info...
  5. Silver was the first, and only, Pokemon game I completed the pokedex to 100% without cheating with an AR (used the duplicating trick to get all 3 starters). Traded a lot from my Yellow My neighbor had Gold A friend had Yellow with event pokemon, and a glitched Mew they gave me My last pokemon to fill up the dex was Primape, which my neighbor traded me I had a blue Girafarig caught 10 minutes to midnight on new year's eve I logged well over 100 hours Save file was lost thanks to neighbor getting upset and saving over my game I still have the same Silver, but with a new, lesser save file
  6. Well since I joined the group (got invited) I decided to actually make edits and make things better. I'm working on making the berry page epic, and afterwards I already have a guide I wrote on breeding and such. I'm pretty much just taking my guide and what I already have on stuff and putting it in here Oh well, back to berries
  7. Once she gets rollout going for a while with no misses, its a 1HKO and its fast so you need a really fast poke to get her with something and pray for a miss or whatnot. She usually takes at least 1-2 rematches before I get a badge... Now I feel like playing my old silver again lol
  8. They all have their cute sides. I fell in love with Ferali after receiving a holo card with it half submerged in water. Chika is now tempting for the challenge, and Cyndaquil again was my original Silver Starter (though I used the reset duplicating trick to get all three, and chose Toto last so my rival could get stuck with Chika ) and it kicked total butt. Sadly with the plysical special split in moves it might get very rough at times and Hidden Power may be its only hope, which is sad. I have an HP Ice Typh and he is all sorts of pwnage, but maybe I'll soft reset for an HP Dragon since it will be a powerful attack that is only resisted by steel types, which take an ember instead Chika on HG still sounds like I'll be trying to kill myself if I dont have some sort of sweeper. Hopefully the pokewalker will solve that so long as I can transfer a pokemon before the first gym. Walk Chika to level 20 or something for the defence boosts, maybe catch something useful in Pokewalker and transfer them back. I wonder if the wild pokes in pokewalker contain an electric poke like Pikachu to encounter and catch for the gym? Chikarita: May just be saved via Pokewalker Cyndaquil: Most likely to be saved by Hidden Power Totodile: Already enough type coverage, doesnt need to be saved
  9. I was upset when I couldnt update for DST on my Ruby and Emerald, though thankfully I didnt play them for long. As for emulators on the PC, they read your PC time as the DS time, though even if I change the time and reload my berries will indeed grow faster. I also used this to keep my shaymin perminently sky form even while playing late at night. I think the DS may keep a log. In Animal Crossing WW the game slaps you if you reset it, though doesnt seem to mind as far as time goes. In DPPT the game slaps you for time change, though doesnt care about resetting. Maybe the game itself keeps a bit of a log. In ACWW I'm guessing saving flags something so when you load the mole Resetii doesnt show, but if you turn off the game and thus do not gain the flag he will appear and annoy you. In DPPT though, I dont know if it has an internal battery (playing on a retail cart). Someone with a flash cart should test and see if it may be a flag, or perhaps the game cart has a bit of a battery life and can tell time by itself (which is unlikely).
  10. Its either Cyndaquil or Totodile for me. Totodile will have a much broader moveset and ice moves rather then Cyndaquil and a lot of fire. Sadly Typhlosion cant make use of physical fire moves which it learns all too quickly, while Totodile gets a nice moveset and the stats to use it. I tried with Chikorita back on my old Silver game. Nearly tried to leap in the game and kill it because it was utterly USELESS. Outside of its decent defences, its rough as a starter since early on its attack stats are pretty low in comparison to what you face, and if the first gym is still a flying type you'll have to catch something else to beat Falkner with and I'm sure there isnt going to be much outside of the usual Pidgeys and whatnot. If I want a decently easy time I'll go with Totodile, though since Cyndaquil was my original starter in silver I might keep with it. I'll just have to be very mindful of the rest of my team since Typhlosion is only really good for the fast sp attacks and ember will be its main fire move since Flamethrower doesnt come till waay later (unless they change the move lineup for HGSS) and it using Flame Wheel which is now physical would suck. That and swift. Though I see Typhlosion can learn Gyro ball, and with its speed stat I call that a laughable choice. Cyndaquil: + Learns Ember at level 10 Evolves early High Speed and Sp attack - Bad movesets Totodile: + Ice Fang at level 20 if not evolved Great attack and decent speed, even defences are nice Good movesets for lots of type coverage - Evolves late Chikorita: + Great defences Great defensive movesets Learns status inflicting moves and a healing move quickly - Type disadvantage at first gym with no good way to overcome without difficulty Low attack and not many attack moves As far as storyline battling goes, which is what a lot of GSC was about, good defence is nice but you will need a powerhouse attacker quickly before you fall prey to the gyms. Chikorita would be nice for a good challenge, but there better be something within the first few routes with good attack. Turtwig and Piplup were decently defensive, but they also had respectable attack and the moves to use it. Chikorita is just all out defence and early on it wont even be much. Totodile has good attack and type coverage, so it looks to be the best to pick if you want a rather easy time. Cyndaquil has great stats but is lacking moves to use it effectively, so it would be the one to choose for a middle difficulty. Totodile: Easy Cyndaquil: Normal Chikorita: Hard As far as difficulty. I might go with Chikorita in Heart Gold, and Cyndaquil in Soul Silver (I plan on getting both, perhaps buying Silver then downloading Gold. I also plan on having a flashcart by then too so I can play both on the go^^). Heck Chikorita might be saved by the pokewalker. If things get too hard for Chikorita to get exp or level effectivly, stick it in the Pokewalker and go on a walk, or just put it on your dog's collar and have it run rampant in the back yard. Either way the exp and level gain might be poor Chika's saving grace. At least if you can use the pokewalker early in the game you can level Chika and be able to catch other pokemon with ease with her so you can get a powerhouse up and ready by the first or second gym.
  11. The gyms were easy, outside of the mentioned killer milktank, though Clair was still a super pain to beat. That and after defeating her she didnt give you a badge until you completed the Dragon User challenge... All gyms tend to be easy so long as you know the elements. I usually make it a habit to evolve my starter pokemon before the first gym, and with a lot of the storyline battles leveling isnt a problem. Minus Sinnoh when I was playing in Diamond. The last gym was quite the level leap and so was the E4, even if you battled everyone. With the remakes and most likely being able to go to Kanto and battle stronger gyms there, then battle a possible Red and his freakishly strong Pikachu I assume the games to again be a more difficult run. I replayed my old Silver and still had issues with Clair and Whitney, not to mention Blue and his team of powerhouses with no common element. Still dont have the courage to take out Red though... I can get to him with ease, but I REALLY dont wanna see that Pikachu...
  12. If they do, I might be a little peeved. I just got my DSi about a week after it was out and my policy is to not buy a new one unless it breaks. That and I dont have $200 to shell out for a special addition DSi. Plus what use would it be if I cant go 'Oooh look! I got a special Pokemon Edition DSi!' since I'm 19. I think my co-workers will laugh a lot... Maybe buy it, wait a few months after they stop making it, then sell it for 5x the price on ebay?
  13. May went there for contests, so maybe Dawn will to? Then we gotta wonder what Ash will get into since he has all the badges from Johto... Johto was pretty good for an anime, and I'm personally am getting sick of seeing Dawn fail around, every inch of Sinnoh being discovered, and loads of filler episodes. I think Sinnoh is so far the longest one, or at least the one in the US since Ash still doesnt have all the badges (yet in Kanto he got one at least every 5 episodes). Again, I'm sick of seeing Sinnoh on the Anime. I'd like them to move on, or at least see someone show the smack down to Cynthia and her hacked Garchomp (Took an ice attack from Paul's Weavile like it was nothing. I call BS). Going back to Johto or reveiling new legends we still dont know (Ok, I really get it. Dialga and Palkia are supah powerful and god like, moving on I still dont know what Mew is or its purpose outside of being freakishly cute). I dont think we saw much of Entei outside the movie, though Suicune and Raiku got anime appearances (Well, Raiku was a special set of episodes used as filler). As for the battle fronteir there better be new symbols and such since Ash already did that sort of thing. I'm suprised Ash didnt say "Well frick on a stick Paul, I beat Brandon a while back so eat me!". Unless he did in the Jap Anime since us here in the US waaay behind. I hope Cartoon Network does some sort of 'here's a ton of new pokemon episodes in one day to catch us up closer to japan so we dont start running a year behind!"
  14. I highly doubt there will be confusion even amongst little kids about HGSS being a new game vs a remake. Everywhere it says Heart Gold and Soul Silver are remakes of the old versions. What I'm really going to be interested in is how in the friggen world is Cynthia walking around in Jhoto? Its gotta be some Dialga event since she is not in that timeline, unless they say its Cynthia as a kid (which in the anime she looks around 20 ish so it could be her when she was younger). I'm guessing they will say something like 'We're not sure what is in this egg' 'Eggs where discovered here in Jhoto' etc etc. If they act like its years before Sinnoh yet we can still go on WiFi and battle/trade with plat without the magical time traveling device Bill makes there might be too much confusion, unless like in the FRLG remakes they pull a 'well we cant trade with PCs far away so we gotta do an update'. Perhaps Bill will make his time traveling trading and battling machine and thus unlock HGSS WiFi so we can comminucate with games 'from the future'. If they do pull a 'We have no clue what this is!' line and hand me an egg, I'm going to crack it open on their face and show them the pokemon fetus. Perhaps the professors just beleived pokemon reproduced asexually, and the genders of them were just for kicks? Then again in the Power of One movie when 'all the pokemon in the world are gathering here' yet every one of them was Kanto pokemon (Which made me laugh), or how Paul went through Jhoto with a Turtwig, Paul watched a battle with a Hoenn fronteir brain with his Turtwig. Though a lot of this is solved by pointing to Dialga and Palkia and say 'They brought Cynthia here' or 'They have allowed you (the trainer) to go back in time and stop Team Rocket in Jhoto'. Then again I think most people will agree that Team Rocket is petty compaired to Team Galatic who plot to destroy the universe... "By Arceus they cut off a Slowpoke's Tail and sold it to a guy!" vs "Umm, wait... You're going to destroy the universe and become a god?" Team Rocket better be doing something better then the standard Bidoof Abuse if I'm going to travel back in time to stop them. Heck I could be bringing my own Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina out on Mt Cornet and becoming a god myself then waste time on those losers... Though due to Jhoto being my favorite region of all time, I will get the remakes even if the Professors can be replaced by a 10 year old kid.
  15. I use an emulator sometimes and have already figured how to get multiple save files. Just get the Rom you want to play, and rename it. The sav file is the same as the game name, so if you have 2 of the same game under different names they will just load the appropriate save file. The only downside is space available, but it does allow for quick save changing on the go. I dont have a flashcart though so I'm not entirely sure if it would work the same way.
  16. If you can spoof trades and make the DS think its trading with another DS when its really on your computer, then I'm sure you can make it trade pokemon stored on your computer made by pokesav or the like. Or even pokesav genorated pokemon getting put on a Pokemon Ranch emulator of sorts and make the DS think its getting pokemon off ranch when its just your PC. That would be great for anyone without an AR (or sick of only being able to use the AR to get a few genorated pokemon at a time), or even people without a flashcart. I have a router in which I know how to log into it, I have a DSi with Diamond and Platinum, though I dont know if I have anything to grab packets and such nor a Wii to see if I can get Ranch Packets. Though if I can help in grabbing them I'd be more then willing! Heck, with this I could have entire boxes of pokesav genorated pokemon, or even legit pokemon I want to store all on my PC and ready for possible editing, uploading, etc! The only thing is how do we get the Ranch emu to beleive the pokemon game is able to receive such pokemon. There has to be like a name thing, and if we can edit that too we can use one grand PC Ranch for all our pokemon games. Fast transfers from Diamond to Plat in full boxes would be available if we can do it though, not to mention the ability for more people to upload pokemon to their pc, get the .pkm file and upload it to the site in cases of events.
  17. Same thing happens to me. Every few months I stop playing, then return later once it becomes interesting again. With the upcoming release in Jap of HGSS I'm sort of back into pokemon, though after its release and I read and learn all the new stuff and details I'll probably stop again until its release in the US lol! Anyways, I do know some C++ and am eager to help if needed, though be mindful it wont be quick at times since I have a broken computer I am attempting to fix along with other RL stuff to do. That and I'm not an expert code writer, though little tedious stuff I can do, like copying, retyping, looking for errors, etc I can do when I have free time. A pokesav type application that I can use on my DS on the go, anywhere, and perfect for those little tweaks like changing moves, IVs, EVs, and such? I'd like that very much even though I dont have a flashcart (yet) and esspecially for the release of HGSS. Though my Diamond is turning into my hack game and I just trade to platinum to leave no trace (and Platinum fixes Diamond Hex values so I dont have to mess with caught location values)
