  1. But more importantly, isn't that Pokefan's old avatar?!
  2. I don't use Pokesav either ( lack of a flash cart ) . I'm sure no one has a problem with this, but as I said before it sounded like me as if everyone wanted to completely disregard the work of other communities and start from scratch when we have so much to work with, re-work and start from scratch that simply pushing everything else aside and "doing our own thing" is not the way to go about it.

    Q and A

Well ok, 1. Prepare the stone. 2. Place the fine grain sandpaper over a flat surface. 3. Smooth out the stone, to make it a better carving surface, by grinding gently over the sandpaper. Always move the stone in a circular motion so that the applying force would be more even. For better result, use wet sandpaper and grind with water. The resulting carving surface should be very smooth and flat. 4. Prepare the knife. Sharpen the blade as often as possible before and after carving. Use the same fine grain sandpaper and grind with water for better result. Wash the knife after work. 5. Prepare the pattern. Make a good design of the pattern to be carved, position the characters so that they appear to be well-balanced. Use a pencil, draw the pattern heavily on a sheet of paper. Transfer the pattern to the stone by rubbing the pencil marks onto the carving surface (the pattern then will be reversed).Go over the reversed pattern with pencil to darken the lines. Check the layout by viewing it with a mirror, this helps you to compare the pattern layout on stone and paper. Make any final adjustment if necessary. 6. Carve. There are two ways of making a carving: * White curve -- You chisel the pencil marks, so that the other part of the stamp is coloured by the ink. * Red carve -- You chisel around the pencil marks, so that only the letters themselves are coloured by the ink. 7. Choose your knife technique. There are two ways of holding the knife: * Handwriting -- hold the knife like writing with a pen. * Fist holding -- or grasp it in the palm like holding a fist. 8. Print. Clean the carved surface with a brush before dampen with ink. Don't soak too much ink, but spread evenly by dipping lightly 3 to 4 times. Print on paper over a flat surface with a firm and vertical stroke. Some tips * Carve gently. * Do not be impatient. * Use right amount of strength. * Start with white carves first if you are a beginner. Things you need * Carving knife * Stones * Stone rest * Calligraphy brush * Rice paper * Chinese dictionary ?
  4. The OU = First class was a "name change" suggestion as that wouldnt make sense to call it OU if it was based off of Usefulness. Usefulness also is referring to how well a pokemon accomplishes a specific task/role in comparison to other pokemon. Again I should have made clear how I was using that particular word, I apologize. What...? Thats not what I was even talking about with The bolded part is mostly what you said. So, what are you referring to? And I didn't say we shouldn't gather our own evidence, but from what you guys are saying it seems more like we should disregard nearly everything that any other community has done and start from the ground up ourselves, when I think one of our greatest advantages is that we have so much to use as a resource in our endeavor.
  5. Organize the tiers based on pokemon's usefulness/strength, not how often they are used? OU = First Class UU = Second Class NU = Third class NFE = NFE Between most of the pokemon sites out on the internet we have all the information to order most of the pokemon ourselves, with maybe 40 - 50 pokemon actually being suspect as to whether they belong in 1st Class or 2nd class. Obviously I just made up the names on the spot, so they are pretty bad . But I think it explains my point rather well. Also the current smogon tier list cant...actually...be...used. They only used usage statistics for OU/UU/NU right now and are waiting to see which pokemon are nominated as too powerful or too weak for the current metagame they are in. ( Hence why things like Medicham, Floatzel, Kangaskhan, Jumpluff, Zangoose are all NU even though they work well in OU given some leeway , although are all much better suited to UU . They just aren't used enough.) Edit* also why test the clauses? I can theorymon a scenario right now. You switch in a swampert > Your opponent switches in a Breloom. Breloom spores either swampert or the switch in, subs up and spores the next switch in, and the next one, and the next one, and the next one. Or as breloom spores the first one/ the switch in, you use something like sleep talk while it subs up to do some damage...it switches out to an appropriate counter and kills your only way of dealing with it > OR you manage to predict around, your a great player! You only take one pokemon to beat it! your opponent switches in another pokemon with spore Your opponent switches in a Breloom. Breloom spores either the switch in or active pokemon, subs up and spores the next switch in, and the next one, and the next one, and the next one. or if you stay in it leech seeds/seed bombs/focus punchs/ Your entire team to death because not many decent pokemon even have insomnia and most ghost pokemon outside of the Rotom formes and dusknoir can even take a hit. 2nd edit* All in all, I'm not a huge fan of Smogon, but these clauses help ALOT with team building, opening up many strategies that without them wouldn't be possible. Without OHKO you would NEED a pokemon with sturdy. Without Sleep clause you would need a way to beat every common status inducer It would ruin the small bit of variety that Pokemon actually has competitively.
  6. > Stop exaggerating things, and try to be more serious. It's no way to "debate." I'm a Sony Whore though, but the 360/Wii/PS3 all seem like a total waste of upgrade from their predecessors as graphics were all that changed. The Wii has the novelty of stupid things like the wii mote or "interactive games" but I would much rather spend my time outside actually doing the things the game is simulating. In terms of sheer functionalityh though, the PS3 wins in my opinion. Like the wii it can connect to each companies respective staple handheld system ( both of which can use homebrew stuff ) but the PS3 requires a lot less...add on stuff to be functional. You get a PS3, you get games. Done. With the Wii you have to get new controllers/add on's every time you want to play a new "innovative" game. And the wii mote is just annoying to use really, you never get a full range of motion with most of what your doing and its literally you just sitting in front of your TV wiggling your arm like a starving baby. The 360 is the worst out of the three in my opinion. You have to pay for Online play ( which adds up really fast ) , when it first came out it was the only system to ( like the x box ) crash and need to be remade/traded in. The games although got "better" ratings, it was only because most of them were caught on the coattails of their predecessors games. The better graphics apparently boosted the score enough to meet much better games with a similar score but I find that to be negligible beyond a certain point. Even more so as " better graphics" Nowadays are just making things more shiny, glossy and blurry.
  7. Mewtwo anyone? Red and blue were so simple that it just felt incredibly rewarding when you got to beat the game and catch him. Besides we all knew he was in that damn cave anyway.
  8. I don't care how "Never Used" medicham is, it's my favorite fighting pokemon. Medicham @ Choice Scarf Adamant with Pure power 252 Attack/252 Speed/ 4 Special def Brick break Psycho Cut Thunder punch Ice punch :D:D
  9. How would I know what attribute certain pokemon have?? I can just make up something and end the sentence with "....just like [ insert pokemon ]" and it seems like that would do it. Someone give me a reference and I will try to be as honest as possible.
  10. FIRE FOXXXXXXXxxxx. Google chrome might surpass it, but it hasn't yet. Internet explorer is just terrible, Eat sushi please switch over! it's free! http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ <- Voila!
  11. Thats the beauty of having type coverage + speed. Steel is NOT weak to water. Dragon rage does a LOL 40 damage a hit. And my pokemon theorymon's were just examples of versatility for fire types. Both types are good, there are just more water types.
  12. With a choice band you shouldn't be using more than 3 moves ANYWAY and he said he needed something with fly, so It's just a filler move. I would never suggest it on a full competitive set othehrwise.
  13. MANLY
  14. Aerodactyl can really only stall well in a sandstorm ( as he gets a +50% Special def boost ) but even then it's hard to pull off. Which isn't saying much as if played right you can sweep teams with pikachu or Bibarel. Aerodactyl @ Choice band Jolly with Pressure 252 Attack/ 4 Def/ 252 Speed Earthquake Stone edge Pursuit Fly It functions the same as Choice specs jolteon reaching an Impressive attack stat. The three moves chosen are intended to hit things for at least neutral damage ( as choice items are intended to do ) Pursuit traps ANY thing weak against it as Aerodactyl is faster than ALL of them, except Deoxy's. If Aerodactyl is still up late game and you know your opponents team, just like choice specs jolteon ,Aerodactyl is capable of running through teams who don't have an earthquake/Stone edge resist left. With 31 Hp Iv's Aerodactyl hits an Uneven number so you can switch into SR 5 times, instead of 4. Just remember to put 4 EV's in Def, not Hp. Just remember to watch out as SR damage builds up, and keep on the look out for choice scarf'd pokemon and BP scizor.
  15. Wow , he posted a lot of pictures just to rick roll us. Haha.
  16. You CANNOT breed abilities onto pokemon! Thats ridiculous. Some pokemon have a chance to get one of the two they can learn ( scizor with technician / Swarm ) but thats it. Someone please lock this if this is all its about. If it's a general question about the mechanics of skill swap, its in the wrong section anyway, is it not?
  17. Yea, Anything with Roar/Haze does that well. the only thing you need to watch out for is the someone faster than you also using roar ( which makes Haze a MUCH better choice here. ) While roar/Whirlwind does make short work of baton pass chains, Ingrain and suction cup pokemon ruin that attempt. So I would just use Haze. it may seem like a waste of a moveslot as you shouldn't need to use it very often but its worth it when the scenario arises. Roar/Whirlwind does not work through protect, but all protecting does is waste a turn as even if they attack/Switch it will phaze out the pokemon ( except in the case of Ingrain/Suction cups/Soundproof ) Just make sure to give it to something bulky enough to take a boosted hit.
  18. WHOA wait, fire types have just as much "variety" as Water types. There are just LESS fire types. Moltres and Heatran make 2 of the best Toxic/Substitute stallers in the game but at the same time rule offensively as well. Arcanine can WALL A GYARADOS. <- THATS impressive, even more so for an offensive pokemon thats weak to water. Gyarados's STAB. Both types are good, the only thing water types have over fire types is a a non Weakness to Earthquake and Neutrality to stealth rock. Simply passing them off as weak because SR ruins them will get your team sweeped by a bellyzard or walled to death by a moltres ( if that same moltres isn't Sweeping through your team because you weren't worried about getting SR down ) Magmortar devastates Bulky offensive types team, and can even learn thunderbolt to cripple most water types that would switch in with his decent special attack. Think of Magmortar like a Slower gengar, with access to a STAB fire attack. Torkoal? One of the defacto best rapid spinners ( along with Starmie ) in the game, and is the ONLY one who could and still can beat Dusknoir/Dusclops one on one. ( not counting the new rotom formes. ) Houndoom, Typlosion? Versatility is not limited to water types.
  19. I've no idea, hopefully it's hinting about Johto as I don't think the fans could take a new generation yet. It's already so difficult to "catch em all" that adding on even more pokemon would be a huge turn off for fans.
  20. I'm actually looking for two pokemon A Mudkip @ Leftovers ( Iv's don't matter I just want one to breed. ) and A Perfect IV ditto, nature is negligible . ( for said breeding ) I'll be near my DS in about 3 hours from now so if anyone could do that, It would be much appreciated. Merged Post: Ohhhhhhhhh k. I'm looking for the power braces to EV train my pokemon! Speed, Attack, Special attack and Hp are the ones I need the most. ? I can't be online for .... 17 hours though! If your up for this, please pm me!
  21. Oh oh, I think I know this one! Don't you have to rename the Pokemon to any nickname, and then nick name it again back to its original one? ( Has no idea about this sort of stuff )

    Q and A

Ok so a Wailmer and skitty really really like each other....and how does the skitty ( If male ) mate with the Wailmer? And How does the skitty ( if female ) not get crushed to death?
  23. I did the opposite, just to show I was better than my brother I Picked charizard when he picked blastoise.
  24. Su(b)perior Democracy ? http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49703 It looks like you just took that team, but used the advice of Rater's on smogon ( that the poster didn't take ) Now on to the semi - rate This teams main weakness's are Dragon Dance Kingdra,Mahchamp and Spikes/Toxic spikes as only zapdos is immune to them, and starmie will find it hard pressed to beat any of the Rotom formes 1 on 1. Nasty Plot Mix ape is also a problem for your team, as once it gets 1 Nasty plot off Even Vaporeon takes something like 65% + from grassknot. So unless he's at full health you'll be in trouble. The standard MixApe set Destroys most of your team in One hit, with the exception of Starmie and Vappy . DD Salamence also causes you some problems, although SR + sandstorm will wear him down quickly enough, I still see him taking out at least 2 of your pokemon after 1 Dragon dance with just outrage. The point is that you CANT predict around breloom, you have no one that can absorb sleep well, letting him sub up as you switch out and Leech seed really hurts a lot of this team. You have no grass types, and Scizor isn't Ev'd to really take outrages, so many of the teams that Run Choice scarf flygon can Late game sweep through your team. The only priority you have is Bullet punch, which does next to nothing to Lucario. If your Scizor isn't CB, you can brick break and hopefully get the OHKO assuming Lucario ( who only comes out late game ) Does not finish off scizor with close combat. On that note, Swords dance scizor needs 228 speed EV's to Outspeed Neutral speed nature Tyranitar ( Adamant ) to hit first and KO with brick break as the SD LO version cannot OHKO a Full Health Tyranitar after SR damage with bullet punch.( assuming your switching into it without a SD ) So you need to rely on a faster brick break in order to do it. Someone else can rate the rest.
