Completely up to you mate, It seems as if Project pokemon is dying though. There hasn't been a real discussion since around the time we left, I'm only back now because of the release of HG/SS and I needed a place to discuss pokemon for awhile. So many people have come into the scene that I feel like I don't belong here anymore too. Much better than Serebii, Marriland, Pokecharms, Bulbapedia or Smogon in my opinion though, it just needs a breath of fresh air. And yes, I remember you. How have you been?

No worries, I mainly just post on this forum whenever I need to get a quick pokemon fix. Which usually lasts a few weeks or so at a time. Then I completely forget about it ... Anyway, pleasure to have you aboard! May we be sporadic together.

I've still not seen a single shiny pokemon in game, aside from the red gyarados.

Or remove Taunt on Gyarados and replace it with sleep talk, after Intimidate hits Breloom, focus punch is doing crap damage and you can still stat up and attack after that. I would suggest changing its EV spread to something bulkier however.

Coverage is always nice, but as I said its meant to counter a few specific pokemon, basically ground/fire/steel/bug pokemon that are now hitting harder than ever thanks to platinum. Even after stealth rock is in Gyarados takes hits from those types like a champ, DD is only on that set to act as a "scout" type of attack. It also assures OHKO's and speed advantages on specific pokemon after a boost ( gengar for OHKO's and 252 speed timid jolteon for speed, and anything with a scarf thats slower, heatran anyone? ) for coverage taunt can be dropped, but as I said this moveset isn't meant to kill more than its supposed to. Hence the Jolly nature and only 2 attacks. Basically think of it as a Gliscor with different typing ( also different coverage ) and the ability to use DD. But I havent battled in awhile anyway, Smogon either has me up against shiity players or fucking amazing ones, and no ones on PP shoddy anymore.

Waterfall + earthquake isn't meant to hit super effectively, its just meant to hit things for neutral damage as not much resists both of them bar things rotom and whatnot, but this set is meant to counter very specific pokemon and not just run through teams, as too many people are much too prepared for that now.

Tyranitar wants this set, 252 hp/252 attack/ 4 def Earthquake Stone edge Crunch Substitute @ leftovers. Speed is not an issue for Tyranitar, but 252 hp and his own sandstorm boost lets him survive Choice scarf gengars focus blast ( LO and choice specs rape Tyranitar, but it IS a 4x weakness, so being able to live through an unboosted one is pretty sweet already. ) And with substitute you get great scouting chances as most things that switch into tyranitar are pretty easily 2HKO'd anyway, and with a sub up it means its harder for them to try and setup on you. Switch out gengar to Latias, use this set 252 Hp/ 252 speed/ 4 special attack, Timid nature Draco Meteor Surf Calm mind Thunderbolt @ leftovers Its an odd set, and its not meant to stall out the whole metagame or something like that, but essentially you can switch in on anything that doesn't threaten you, calm mind once and have great special attack ( and even better defensive capabilities )but it doesnt sacrifice survivability nor speed. The amount of things you can setup on with this set is ridiculous and aside from rapid spinning its a much better special wall than tentacruel. If your not into playing risque as they say, use this set 252 special attack/ 252 speed Timid nature, recover/calm mind/dragon pulse/ surf Gyarados is something that I use extensively as its perfect for countering fire types and fighting types. Try out this EV spread and moveset 168 speed/ 252 attack/ 84 hp, Jolly nature Dragon dance Waterfall earthquake Taunt It will let you screw up stall quite a bit, after 1 DD you outspeed jolteon and OHKO with earthquake, and the natural speed+ nature lets you outspeed most electrivire and OHKO with earthquake. try out some changes and get back to us with what you get mate.

Hey you guys are all getting better! Thats awesome. Anyway I saw the featured signature and made one with a friend a while back thats really similar to the style he was using let me pull it outta the cabinet for ya. Edit * Its pretty much just 6 pokemon that remind me of stuff that I like .

Actually it dropped in ranking because people weren't using it enough and with it being Stealth rock weak, shallow movepool and easily counter-able by priority users ( scizor/Lucario anyone? ) Which also means that with SS up and SR on the field, even if you switch in Yanmega, and then switch out to trap and kill scizor/Lucario, Yanmega is then useless. Which makes it a one shot pokemon. ( as a late game sweeper it functions extremely well, assuming you aren't faced against an End game Priority user. ) Its UU status also isn't definitive, however people still aren't using it so smogon can't really get any numbers and give it a clear tier standing. And until further large scale testing is posted I don't think anyone can really make that decision here. Posting one or two war stories about how you swept someones team with a yanmega does not give anyone a clear understanding/overview of Yanmega's ability . Even more so here as everything is about consistency . As for Umbreon, the abundance of Bug/Fighting attacks really makes it not that hard to counter. Umbreon breaking UU is a joke, however like yanmega it can be a potent force if used properly and is a decent UU option if you know how to use it properly.

I rather like However pokemon are not going to be put into Ranks, they are going to be classified and categorized according to usefulness within the competitive circuit. As for that, this one I think suits the kind of discussion and "testings" you guys have been talking about. As this one Is more or less just renaming the Smogon tier list to be more " politically correct" and doesn't fit in at all when everyone here is talking about creating your own system. The one I bolded above is , from what I have gathered by your current discussion, more accurately defining the way you all seem to want to have the Project pokemon Tier system organized/created/labeled et cetera.

I would actually argue that SUB/bounce, SUB/flail, DD/restalk, DD/ Offense, DD/Bounce and Taunt sets are all relatively useful. He doesn't have the quite as much versatility of Salamence but the fact that his main counters can only come in on specific sets makes it really hard for inexperienced players to counter him. * Oh its a gyarados, I can just switch in a celebi! - switches - Gyarados DD's up and then uses bounce the following turn. So what do you do now that your grassknot missed? Switching back and forth results in the Gyarados just wearing down a persons team if they have no real counter to it. If the "larger players" of the metagame are taken out only another gyarados can use the intimidate switch strategy( and most certainly with SR up the one with +1 speed will win the encounter ) while Arcanine cannot survive Bounce + Waterfall assuming the intimidate resets Gyarados back to - 0 making it terribly hard for someone inexperienced to get by . Whats also beautiful about bounce, is once your up in the air anyone who's choice scarfed will either be forced to switch or reveal that they have a choice scarf by attacking ( and getting locked into an easily counter-able move, as Gyarados will use Bounce while still up in the air meaning the opponent misses ) while at the same time letting gyrados get a hit in on one of his counters who switched in, or force your opponent to switch again to a less prepared counter. Or an even simpler tactic is to just send out gyara to force a switch, then taunt screwing over a phazer or "wall" and then proceed to either setup, or switch to something not weak to Electric/Rock to continue the game. Rotom, once taunted, will HAVE to attack or switch giving your opponent an over prediction head ache and letting you switch to a counter. Also +1 waterfall fails to OHKO after SR damage while rotom is at full life, but does a MINIMUM of 43% meaning all you have to do is bait out the rotom once ( and if he is CS'd giving your an opponent an even bigger headache as they are now stuck into the wrong move ) and do 30%- ish and SR ( assuming two switches, once into gyarados and once again for the bait ) will do the rest for you. 43% was factored @ 252 attack and a neutral attack nature ( 349 attack ) Vs 252 hp/252 def and a + def nature rotom. ( 304 hp/344 def, max for both stats ) Salamence's role is to sweep and "wall break" and he does it damn well, but Gyarados's mission is to sweep unprepared teams, open up huge gaping holes , setup on a myriad of physical attackers and wear down "counters",mess up stall and scout to hell back, and he does it damn fine. Also to add to the ban list I think you should at least debate over a few more centralizing pokemon because without the ones mentioned in your ban list there are QUITE a few that will then run rampant through 260+ of the remaining pokemon allowed under this clause. Whew that was my post for the month. Edit * that Gyarados is not only factored in without a + Attack nature, but without a life orb.

Well actually..... Scizor ( although a great mid-late game sweeper ) is dated in that role. 1/3 of teams are packing magnezone with the soul purpose of trapping and killing skarmory and Scizor and the majority of teams are made with taking steel and dragon type attacks with ease because they are such a threat. His main role now (that started in Ubers ) is hes the best U-turn user in the game. He has decent defense and special defense, great attack STAB on U-turn and attracts very specific pokemon to take hits. Always controlling the tempo but at the same time Scizor also serves as a very powerful priority user, Trapper and Stat up pokemon. Essentially he is very diverse and can be used to do alot of things easily, even with one moveset. Making him a threat to be sure. ( how many people now pack random fire attacks on pokemon just to kill scizor? ) Heracross's role is a little different, with sleep talk and Guts he makes an amazing status absorber, even with a choice scarf as three moves give him great coverage and guts boosts his attack in sleep. However hes like scizor in that regard too, many uses and can do a lot with one moveset, but unlike scizor he does not get U-turn and is much more prone to faulty switches , being trapped by dugtrio or raped by Air slash/bravebird/Drill peck. However his Dual 120 BP STAB attacks are powerful and rip through almost anything, with the exception of salamence and gyarados who give you -1 and can take all of your attacks bar stone edge with little trouble. This spells doom for some teams who cant counter mence/dos and have their CS heracross stuck on the wrong move et cetera. Anyway I'm done for now haha. Good night.
