  1. Well Nitro Explorer is just one tool that can be used to do that. I suppose you used some other method but IMO Nitro Explorer is easiest. Glad that people like this.
  2. That's amazing. It actually loaded the save just fine from my retail Diamond cart. I suppose that editing is possible but saving it back to the flashcart is not?
  3. I believe so. If not you could always try asking SCV.
  4. Yes, it is the only way at this point but I would bet money that free software will be developed within the next couple weeks. Chase has already started and I believe the only reason it hasn't already happened is the relative lack of people with legitimate games to test with. That is exactly how it works. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18728 12.97 USD with free worldwide shipping, probably even a couple dollars less if you don't want/need the DSi compatible one
  5. Offsets are primitive. Open up the internal filesystem and extract a/0/0/2. From there I doubt there is any major differences from what thethethe described for DP. For whatever reason D-Trough's tools don't work but I'm sure the format is similar enough to logic out.
  6. Yeah it's not that simple... At some point I may try to write a tool to convert standard images into the various Nitro graphics formats. Don't get your hopes up for now though.
  7. In an HG/SS ROM the "trdata" file is a/0/5/5 and the "trpoke" file is a/0/5/6. I have never used PPTE but it is quite possible that if it was designed flexibly it can load those NARCs and edit trainer info for HGSS the same as it did for DPPt.
  8. Well since it's commercial I doubt we'll be hearing about how they did it.... Honestly, those of you buying this adapter trash are getting ripped off. If you don't have one already, get a flashcart (if you do have one, why the hell do you need an adapter?). At least with a flashcart you won't have to go out and buy a whole new adapter anytime Nintendo makes a new type of card. You can get an Acekard 2/i for 10-12 dollars, and that is one of the best cards on the market. How much are the adapters?
  9. Anddd you're banned... Too bad, this is pretty interesting.
  10. Who the hell are you? If you know half as much as you think you do, why aren't you making this tool yourself?
  11. The nfont files are not the actual font used to display text. If they are used at all, it's not much. The files in font.narc DO seem to be related to the font though. I noticed that the Korean ROM had two extra files in that directory, which is to be expected. The format seems nonstandard though...
  12. I added a link to Nitro Explorer for convenience. I encourage you to insert the NARC yourself if you like it.
  13. I think the title pretty much says it all here. There's at least a couple unofficial logos that have made it into translations but I haven't seen the official one yet. Yeah some of them are probably better than the official ones but I'll leave that up to you... Download replacement NARC Replace the /a/0/4/6 file with that one; I recommend using Nitro Explorer for the job.
  14. Careful not to take it out of your party...
  15. This isn't entirely on topic but I thought I'd bring it up as the end result could be similar. I'm not savvy enough to do it myself but maybe it'll at least spark some ideas. As I'm sure you know Wii games such as PBR and Ranch are capable of communicating with the DS and even manipulating pokemon in the save file and sending graphics to the DS. Perhaps with some research it would be possible to write a homebrew app for the Wii that can retrieve pokemon from a retail DS game? It would also be interesting to see how limited the Wii is with what it can do on the DS; getting pokemon files might not be the only thing you could do. This would require some knowledge of the protocol of course, but maybe "NiFi" would be easier to figure out than what's been discussed already. The Wii also has much better debugging tools from what I understand. I have a bit of information that could be helpful on with the DS side too. The file /data/eoo.dat in a DPPt ROM is actually a ROM itself. When run in no$ it displays the menu that launches after selecting "connect to wii" from the main menu. We figured it must be a library of sorts made by some inner-nintendo department and given to developers in order to interface with the wii. In HGSS it seems they tried to disguise it as a NARC that previously held graphics. /data/field_cutin.narc
  16. I've never heard of fake NDS games before. I wonder where they get their blank media (assuming it's worth a crap).
  17. This is easily a favorite for me. I like that you're breaking away from some of the more "cliche" avatar designs. Also nice to see that sprites really can work with non-pixel art graphics.
  18. That's right. I'm flattered, but there are some people here that are much more worthy of your respect than myself. SCV, Chase, loadingNOW, Sabresite, and increasingly Codemonkey and Jiggy-Ninja just to name a few. All of them have done more than I have; to be quite honest I have only glanced off the surface of programming. I'm starting my senior year, haven't graduated yet. PCD safe was my first true bit of programming, about a year ago I did the PHP version and this June I made an offline C# version. I actually just picked up a Python book today and I'm hoping I'll have the discipline to stick with it and get a better feel for it than my shallow knowledge of PHP and C#.
  19. According to people who know what they're talking about, the 4.2 update makes modifications to a rather fragile bit of code that can and has made several peoples' Wiis into nice white bricks. And it's not limited to only people who have messed with their system either. Is there even any point in discussing what we think Nintendo should do? I don't think so. Of course people are gonna say they want more development and less control over homebrew, it's friggin obvious. But the only way YOU have any semblance of control over the big N is with your money; that's the only justification they're gonna give a crap about. So don't b*tch on here, just don't buy the newest game/console. On a side note, to say that the decision to update/not to update Ranch was Nintendo's is like saying that Germany stopped making slug-bugs. Just because Volkswagen is a German company does not mean Germany has any control over it. I catch myself doing the same thing you are quite often, but we should realize that if Nintendo plays any role at all in the development of (pokemon) games, it is minute. Probably nothing more than giving it the thumbs up to be produced as a "first party" game. The "Volkswagen" here is Ambrella.
  20. It's not intended to be a replacement, it's just a workaround for various bugs that Pokesav has with wondercards.
  21. I've been using r5 and noticed that changes wouldn't take (maybe 50% of the time? that'd be consistent with a current/backup problem); I take it that's the issue you fixed?
  22. You need to add the wondercard ID before using this program. The wondercard slot is chosen by you when importing.
  23. If you're playing a ROM you can't use any IR functions silly. If this is the page you were thinking of with specs, it does not seem to have any useful information. Here's a picture of the circuit board on a IR cart. Doubt it's of any help but...
  24. Well to begin with, the last release was long before HGSS came out. If there is demand then I'll update it but don't expect me to be able to predict the future. Secondly, it should be working fine with Platinum. You're dragging just 1 save and 1 PCD file correct? Not more than 1 of either?
  25. It's an exe that works with saves... Of course there's no way to use it on your DS. How you get the save can be either from an emulator or a flashcart, or you could download one.
