***EDIT (June 12th, 2023)***: the following codes are outdated!!! Please, check my GitHub repository for updated content. Hi, guys. I've been reverse engineering SoulSilver for the past few days, and I developed a code to force shiny Pokémon battles. Basically, the code advances the RNG until a shiny frame is found. Hence, any Pokémon caught using this method is 100% legit legal* (encounter, nature, pid, ivs and met info match perfectly). TECHNICAL INFORMATION: the code intercepts the normal execution flow right before the first rng call (usually the one that defines the encounter slot) and sends it to address 027c0200, where the main function is stored. The main function advances the rng in a loop, until a shiny pid is found. Then, it extracts the nature from the rng pair that forms the pid. After that, it starts a reverse rng loop, to find the last rng whose extracted nature matches the shiny rng nature. When such rng is found, the code retrieves the normal execution flow. The code does not affect any other data besides the current rng. Because of that, the resulting shiny Pokémon are all 100% legit legal*. For each type of encounter, there is a different set of codes, because the functions that trigger each event are located at different memory addresses and because the algorith used to calculate the PID is different in each case. WARNING: natures that affect the wild pokémon structure, such as Cute Charm, Synchronize and Pressure, require adittional RNG calls, thus, messing with the RNG allignment the codes establish and making them NOT to work. WARNING 2: do not use more than one of the following codes at the same time in any circunstance. As explained, the codes write different instruction routines to the same memory block. Using more than one code may cause crashes and other unexpected behaviours. Oh yeah changing the PID is something that happens on newer gifts. Someone donated me a HOME account they SR’d for the TID/SID, with an unclaimed starter, to prove it happened to another account of theirs. I don’t know if this works for older events, and whether TSV = 0 is now freed.

Would it try and recreate it as best as it can or would it just dispersal? Also Spinda can be sorta be recovered because it needs to calculate the pattern right (might have misread that)? If so I wonder if there's any extra data for Wurmple? Probably not as it wouldn't need any data like that when on the Pokewalker, but maybe it could be another lead on finding a way to retrieve these lost pokemon?

I'd personally love to play this ROM hack, like with SacredGold, BlazeBlack and the original BlazeBlack 2, but...why add Fairy, and replace old "useless" moves (which could've been made more useful with some basic slight tweaking, like you did with Cut and Strength) with future-gen moves? That just removes all interest I might've had, as this is still Gen 4 at heart, not Gen 6+, and replacing Luster Purge and Mist Ball deprives the Latis of their signature moves - not to mention the straight-up nerfing as a result of Volt Tackle -> Wild Charge. Ugh. Oh, and "updating moves to USUM" by its very nature means nerfing special moves (Flamethrower, Ice Beam, Thunder, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm, Draco Meteor, etc.) which is also a straight-up downgrade. So, no thanks. Could've been amazing; let down by some very unfortunate and unnecessary changes to what's supposed to be Gen 4 Platinum. This isn't Luminescent Platinum, where Fairy and nerfed moves (and, unfortunately, removed moves) would make a lot more sense.

Ok, Preface first, I managed to run PKHeX on Linux, although I haven't test whether the edited save works or not because I didn't have my game atm. Anyways this (hopefully) should be foolproof, considering I'm one and I managed to do it.... Oh and another disclaimer, don't expect the GUI will be pretty. Btw, I'll try to be as concisely as possible, I'm on my phone writing this. 1. Install PlayOnLinux. It's hassle free Wine from my limited experience, no need to manually set prefix or the like. Foolproof. 2. Download PKHeX and extract the compressed file like you would on Windows. 3. Right click .exe and choose the first option. [please refer to scr1 image] 4. The program will tell you that you missing dotnet (insert dotnet version here) and offer to download it for you by opening your browser (should be legit, it's legit Microsoft website after all). 5. Open the downloaded dotnet using the same step of the 3 step [please refer to scr2 image] and proceed to install it like you would on windows. 6. Magic(?) [scr3 image] As you can see, the GUI doesn't seems displayed properly but hey, as long as it works some cosmetics imperfections can be overlooked. Btw, just like I said on first paragraph, I haven't test whether the edited save works or nah because I currently didn't have any Pokemon games on hand, but it should works. If you have any Pokemon save game file you can test and report. Hopefully this actually works and helping many people that currently on Linux. Edit: Tested on Ultra Sun. Editing Pokemon is working [scr4 image]. So far afaik the only problem that I've encountered is in inventory editor, instead limit the items per category if you pick item on the drop-down it shows all items, irregardless of choose category [scr5 image (even if I'm on berries category but the drop-down show all items, although the Give all give category specific items)]
