  1. I guess that was before Nintendo put all those safeguards against hacked Pokemon. Don't you hate it when they give you some Pokemon you want but it has a terrible nickname? I traded my level 100 Gallade (nicknamed Eliwood after the Fire Emblem character) for a Munchlax (how stupid of me...) and it was named "Buttmunch" or something like that. Seriously... I hate that. But I digress. Fire Fang would have barely scathed a WonderGuard Kabutops though... but at least this gives Flareon SOME merit... as a Wondertomb deterrent!
  2. I don't know if anyone has been advocating 'no rules' mode... but rules are certainly necessary.
  3. Wow. How did you hack the Umbreon's typing? Ice isn't a good type to Wonderguard though... it has weakness to four types, three of them being common to very common. I had the privilege to fight against a Wonderguarded shiny Kabutops with Aura Sphere... which was my friend's. He had no idea it was Wonderguarded though because it came from the GTS (I had no idea either because all I've been using were super effective attacks against it). Fortunately, my Swampert took it down.
  4. Er... I don't know. Some people can get confused when they see a black Hippowdon and think it's shiny (only to find out it is the female variant) or see the west Shellos first and then see the east version thinking it is shiny. BTW has anyone seen the shiny forms of the aforementioned Pokemon?
  5. Are there really those types of people? Frankly, I think Smogon is very smart and does know a lot about competitive battling and gives very good movesets and EV spreads for every usable Pokemon (they even have a novelty page for Kakuna in D/P, check it out, I LOL'd) and made some good clauses to prevent things like Spore to be spammed everywhere, but I don't agree that every community should just conform to what they do. Smogon isn't wrong (although I will disagree with some of their tiering placements), but other than that... pushing Smogon in somewhat limits our thinking, don't you think? Like let's look at Victreebel's page. They don't mention a Swords Dance moveset... which could easily be done now with Swords Dance, Sucker Punch, Return/Body Slam (the latter traded from FR/LG) and Leaf Blade. You can devise your own movesets and play creatively too... but no need to push Smogon's rules everywhere.
  6. The egg hatched to a shiny Cleffa for me with Dizzy Punch. I always wondered if I was lucky or not... but it happens to 50% of the game players. Oh well... In GSC being shiny wasn't too great... 15 IVs > 10 IVs across the board in general...
  7. Water? =( This is my favorite type... SO many to choose! Er... I like most if not all... so I'll pick Vaporeon, Azumarill (rabbits are my second favorite animals) and the rather obscure Politoed (frogs are my favorite animals)... Lapras, Blastoise, Tentacruel, Slowbro, Gyarados, Poliwrath, Milotic, etc (can't list them all)... But generally I like most if not all Water types. That's my least favorite Eeveelution for being an electric type and staying in OU tier for all generations... but I still like it. I don't think you need to guess who my favorite Eeveelution is.
  8. It's all right. I only seen that aforementioned pink Metapod. In my personal opinion, I don't think there's anything special about shinies other than being... well... alternate colored (in GSC though their IVs were all 10 or something). How about that egg in Crystal version? There was a 50% chance of getting the baby to be shiny.
  9. Hating Pikachu is one thing (I hate it too... and I especially don't like a LOT but not all of electric Pokemon but I do like Raichu)... but you can't deny that he can be powerful with that Light Ball and 90 speed. Somewhat like people hating Blissey (I don't btw). They try to pretend there are better options for walling special attacks, but no one does the job better than Blissey. Speaking of events... check out this novelty Pikachu event. Agreed. Smogon does have intelligent people but no one is obligated to follow someone else just because they said so. BTW... SCV = SCV from Starcraft?
  10. Some NFEs are allowed in tier lists because they play differently. The reason why Pikachu is in NU is because it can carry Light Ball, thus dealing more damage than Raichu. It's like a NU Deoxys-A. (Pikachu = my least favorite Pokemon... but that's besides the point). We also have Trapinch for Arena Trap, Clamperl for DeepSeaTooth doing the same exact thing as Pikachu with Light Ball (except only for special attack), Scyther for being the faster but weaker version of Scizor (both have same BSTs but aligned in different areas and different typing), Vigoroth for playing differently from Slaking (but he's still worse than Zangoose) and the awesome Porygon2 for being a Salamence/Gyarados deterrent (Porygon-Z lacks the defenses and the Trace ability). Now I don't know if they'll ever do OU-lite, such as allowing Haunter, Kadabra, Snover, Hippopotas and Chansey in UU or something. Somehow, I doubt it.
  11. Yeah, I see that with the usage and good correlation thing. I always thought Milotic is OU... even if the Hypnosis accuracy dropped. For one thing, Milotic has an instant recovery move (so does Slowbro, but being part Psychic somewhat hurts). Marvel Scale is a good trait too and base 100 special attack and 125 special defense isn't too bad either. I don't see why she's UU... she's served as a reliable counter to some dragons and others. Yes, I realize Choice Banded attacks can 2HKO Milotic and Sandstream weakens her Surf on Tyranitar, but still... something like Milotic being in UU makes no sense to me. Hypnosis accuracy drop really affected frail things like Yanmega and Gengar more. Milotic can still take some hits and do some good damage, even without Hypnosis. This thing, UU? No way. Just give me Blastoise and Quagsire any day for Bulky Water needs in UU. Milotic just tears that tier apart. And I wouldn't stay on a rock type with Articuno anyways (unless I mispredict and switch in something that's Rock resistant and Kabutops uses Waterfall >_<). It's all about teamplay, not a single thing that can take down everyone. Articuno has plenty in her arsenal to support the team, like Reflect and Heal Bell (the latter from , but they give Zapdos BATON PASS?!). And again, I blame Gamefreak for favoring Zapdos and looking down on Articuno. That has been blatant ever since Generation I. I wouldn't conform this community to Smogon. Smogon has their tier list, this place has its own... I do agree with some of their rules though like Sleep Clause, I'll give you that. But this place shouldn't be a copycat of another site.
  12. I beg to differ about Articuno. Yes, I realize Articuno isn't as privileged as the other birds (blatant favoritism on Zapdos on Gamefreak's part... really) but Articuno has been able to stall bulky waters and beat some others 1 on 1... and with spin support with Claydol Articuno has worked wonders. You just need to play Articuno right... but those Stealth Rocks hurt >_< I really don't agree with some of Smogon's rules though... and they have been trying to get rid of the BL tier for ages... but I don't know... why would they drop everything to the UU tier and then make a NU filled with some stuff that could destroy that tier (looks at Articuno and Marowak and Tauros)? Or is it all based on usage?
  13. 10 levels higher in DPP? I was always 1-5 levels underleveled... I seriously don't see where people get their level 60s from when reaching the E4. He's playing Emerald, so there are no Kricketunes or Bibarels. However, my friend did beat the game with Kricketune as one of his team... but as for Emerald... some stuff just won't do you good like Poochyena. Poochyena is terrible in the beginning AND when he evolves... so don't try him unless you like him or if you want a challenge (I like him and I used him). You can settle for Zigzagoon because he can be useful somehow once he evolves. As for Beautifly and Dustox... consider yourself lucky if you got the former, but not the latter. They're good earlygame, but dwindle later on. Use your starter for the most part... and try to get a Taillow or a Huge Power Marill. Here's a playthrough of Emerald I started but probably won't finish in a while: CLICK ME <--- warning: somewhat vulgar humor on the description. I hate vulgar humor but I was bored while writing the descriptions, heh heh. Try to see what I did and see where you went wrong. It doesn't matter about your starter choice because all three are good unlike GSC and RBY. Note: That is NOT my Youtube account. That is my little brother's... but I uploaded it in his because gaming isn't my main interest.
  14. Offensive Ninetales would go Nasty Plot, Hypnosis, Energy Ball and Flamethrower. I think you breed with Stantler if you want both Hypnosis and Energy Ball and Nasty Plot is from Heart Scale. Unfortunately, the Energy Ball TM does NOT work on Ninetales, you have to breed it to get her Energy Ball. With this combination, she can put someone to sleep, then proceed to Nasty Plot, then attack with STAB Flamethrowers or Energy Ball to cover ALL HER WEAKNESSES (Rock, Ground and Water). However, she's walled by Fire types such as Houndoom and random Tentacruels. To deal with Infernape and Tentacruel, you can use Extrasensory in place of Hypnosis if you have another sleeper (people usually tell you to play with sleep clause meaning only one Pokemon can be put to sleep at a time) or you can opt for Dark Pulse to hit Ghosts. Your team is offensive so your lead Ninetales needs to use that aforementioned moveset to be effective (but Hypnosis has 60% accuracy). That's my Ninetale's moveset, btw... because I don't know how else she could play. As for the EVs, max out Speed, Special Attack, and put the rest somewhere else. Try to get Timid nature to hit a max of 328 speed (or 297 minimum). I haven't seen his whole team yet but was concentrating on his Ninetales too much :-/ If it does get crushed by Curselax, recommend him a physical attacker or something like a Resttalk No Guard Machamp. Stalling doesn't work too well in DPP as I've noticed. Too many Choice items flying everywhere for stallers to be of any effect :-/
  15. Depends on what your team needs the most. The good thing about Lucario is that he can either be a physical or special sweeper... and makes the best Reversaler in the entire game... although that's not his best role. Try out what works best for your team.
  16. I don't know why you want Cubone with Screech though... because a Cubone holding a Thick Club has basically the same effect... only without that extra turn to set up (and that potential chance of Screech to miss...) If you want to lower your opponent's defenses so badly, try Swords Dance, which basically is somewhat of a same effect... only you boost your own attack (only ignored by the oddball Unaware Bibarel, but when do you ever see those?)... Screech only encourages switching out usually. Alternately you can forego Swords Dance and just try to find a wild Cubone with a Thick Club. I know it's rare, but if you find one, it is a good hold item that doubles his attack power. Then you can breed for Perish Song without having to get Screech at all. Oh yeah, did I mention Screech is useless against Soundproof Pokemon like Exploud and Mr. Mime?
  17. How does your team look like? Are they significantly lower leveled or are you using the wrong moves?
  18. LOL. Bruno would probably own them all physically... but in a battle, you realize in the end Maylene's Pokemon will come out on top (thinking about Top Trainer Cafe lineup with levels 60 and over). I don't know Brawly's Emerald final lineup though. And Chuck... if only his Pokemon were higher leveled or had a bigger roster or even had his last name changed to Norris...
  19. Ironically, Lucario is weak to Fighting.
  20. I keep that thing a Chimchar until level 22 to learn Nasty Plot. But I never picked him as a starter so I don't know how it's like.
  21. I like flying long necked dinosaurs with leaves as wings and bananas growing on his neck :-/
  22. A few I forgot... Leafeon... Jumpluff and Tropius. Leafeon for being another cute eeveelution, Jumpluff for being an amazing subseeder (although Sceptile works better because it can do other stuff and is faster... but Jumpluff has Sleep Powder)... and Tropius for being a cool Mokele Mbembe based plant type... but he's still not great for competitive battles but works great as an HM slave.
  23. Yeah, but usually 95% accuracy is good enough. Even if it misses the first time, it'll usually hit the second time, and you survive with Focus Sash (unless there's bad weather or something). But even then, usually the first hit lands unless you were extremely unlucky.
  24. It really won't matter MUCH (although I hate it during those times when I DO miss)... and Zoom lens works only if you're going last, and that's NOT good, especially for Butterfree. Wide Lens can work, but it's rarely worth an item slot. Something like Focus Sash would be better to support Butterfree's frailty.
  25. I have a Squirtle and a Bulbasaur... but I don't know if you've encountered enough Starlies to know what I've been experiencing. Tackle doing 12 damage (roughly 25% of my health), Quick Attacking from a range of 2 dealing 14-16 damage... (max of 33% of HP!)... it's decisively difficult then. I beat it now though, so it's all right. Has anyone else experienced this?
