  1. Another solution. Make the Pokemon in the boxes next time, or just deposit+withdraw them if you ever get this problem again.
  2. The template problem you have probably stems from the fact that different Pokemon need different amounts of experience to get to the same level. Pokemon do not store their level directly anywhere in their data. Instead, their accumulated EXP is stored and the level is derived from that. So, when you load a one of the .pkm templates, the level will be calculated from the EXP. Whenever you change the species, the EXP does not change and the level is recalculated. Are you inputting the level before, or after changing the species to Gliscor?
  3. It got really, really bad when it started showing them in school. It lost all of it's old feeling then. But the original kind of episodes are awesome.
  4. T_T You make me cry. How can you say such hurtful things? So if kids like Spongebob and Ed, Edd, and Eddy, and adults like Discovery and History Channel....what about a person who like both? Would that make me a....kidult?
  5. If you can, I'd like: 1) A list of all the modifications you made. 2) The save file from before editing. (You should always make a copy before doing stuff like this) 3) The edited file.

Middle School foreign language classes SUCK. Literally the only thing I remember from middle school French is un, deux, treux, and oi and I apologize to any French people here since I probably spelled even those wrong. I don't even remember how to say no. I know a little bit more about Spanish since I had classes in elementary school, but I wouldn't stand a chance in a conversation. I don't think there's much of an incentive to learn other languages in America since most of the rest of the world learns English anyway.
  7. It's to transfer Pokemon between boxes, sort of like the "hand" in the games.
  8. That's exactly why I asked for a working UK code. If the code you just posted works on your game, then the codes that Pokesav Platinum USA puts out should work too. The key is the 3rd line (b2101d40 00000000). It's the same in your code and in USA Plat Pokesav codes as well. Post an example of some of the codes you've tried that haven't worked.
  9. Do you know any AR codes (like all items or something) that work for UK Platinum? ---------- Post added at 03:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:24 PM ---------- I assume you are using an AR, because all versions of Plat's save file should have the same structure, so they should all work on each versionof Pokesav.

"Decent results" isn't giving yourself enough credit. Like I said on IRC, I didn't even know you weren't native. "Be Prepared" is my favorite song from "The Lion King", hands down. You're talking to a guy that watched "Spongebob" and "Golden Girls". Trust me, I don't think it's odd. Basically, that's Rosetta Stone's methodology in a nutshell. Though for material, I don't think it should start simple. Go big or go home. One problem I see with language teaching is that it typically gets student used to thinking too simply about how words relate to other words. Language is infinitely extensible, and some very complex phrases can be made. Compare "My name is Mark", a typical sentence you are introduced to early in any language learning plan, to "Based on extensive and systematic analylis of the evidence that was presented to me by Officer Thompson of the C.L.U.E. policy agency, it is my conclusion that the crime currently under investigation by Inspector Gadget was commited by Colonel Mustard, in the Dining Hall, with the candlestick for the purpose of avenging the wrongful death of his brother, who died when struck in a hit-and-run accident by a car driven by Professor Plum, who was drunk at the time." The second sentence requires complex parsing of various phrases on multiple levels, and to combine various phrases together in a fractal-like pattern. It's not something you learn to deal with at all with stupid stuff like "I kicked the ball" or "Timmy gave me a present". Obviously, you shouldn't start with sentences such as that, but starting right away with complex stuff like that would go a long way, I think, to keep people thinking correctly about language. Or rather, not thinking about language and having it happen naturally. So instead of starting with "I played a game", start with "I played a game that one of my friends made up yesterday" or something like that.

Gah, I hate high pitched, screechy voices! Let me hear something nice, deep, and soothing any day. Well, I did choose to learn Japanese out of interest in their culture, but yeah, you don't need to know everything. I draw a distinction between "teaching" and "learning". "Teaching" is the process of pushing information out towards a student. "Learning" is the act of a student pulling that information into themselves. Learning is extremely fun, being taught to sucks usually. If I don't want to learn about something, I really don't want to be taught it. That's one of the main reasons I'm so reluctant to go to college. If you ever want to read anything higher than kid's books, you'll need to learn Kanji. Furigana isn't everywhere. I love being the person that holds the class up with endless questions. My German teacher got so frustrated with it one day (in a good way, she's nice) that she gave me a reference book to read. On top of that, she graded on a curve (pretty stupid, imo), so I always loved seeing the classes reactions when I aced a test/quiz and she couldn't curve it. Oh, funny story. On a quiz, we had to translate the word "kommen", which means "to come". My brain however, was in German spelling mode, not English spelling mode, so I accidentally wrote "to cum". >.< I swear on my mother's future grave that dirty thoughts were the furthest thing from my mind that day, seriously.

Culture is important in the sense that certain parts of language are ingrained in cultural patterns, such as clothing. Clothing such as a hakama, kimono and geta don't really have a Western equivalent. (Fun fact: The literal translation of the word kimono means "something to wear") There's also idioms that are important as well, phrases who have more meaning than their words would literally imply. One Japanese example is juunin toiro, which literally means "10 people, 10 colors". Idiomatically, a comparable English express is "To each, his own." An interesting article I came across online mentions Ilya Frank's method of learning how to read (not speak or listen to) a language: http://english.franklang.ru/6/ It seems to be a good method, since the whole point of language is to communicate ideas. When a person speaks a sentence, they want to listen to know something they didn't know before, or to solicit information from the listener. Sentences fabricated for the sole use of showing grammar constructs don't really do that. I never really liked the piece-by-piece method that schools typically use to teach languages. It makes sense in the abstract that you should master one aspect before moving onto the next, but I think it's a discouraging approach. You start so small, and slowly grow, until you think you're at least pretty good. At least, until you get your feet wet with real language. Language that is meant to make a point, ask questions, and to actually have meaning, not showcase vocabulary and grammar. Then there's that whole "Oh shit, I'm way over my head" moment that slaps you down. In case you couldn't tell from the examples I gave, I'm currently trying to learn Japanese. Because I don't know any place close around here that gives classes on it, I'm self studying it. Through a few different sources I've learned how to read and write kana as well as the basics of grammar (which is so totally backwards from English it's like you have to flip your mind upside down to make sense of it). Though there's still a few grammar issues that I haven't addressed fully yet (namely the difference between ichidan and godan verbs, as well as adjectives and adverbs), most of what's left now is to build up my vocabulary and practice parsing information from written text and spoken speech. For that, there's anime shows, as well as several manga series I've either started buying or plan on buying, namely One Piece, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Hayate the Combat Butler, Dragonball, Elfen Lied, and maybe Bokurano. So we'll see how that goes.
  13. It only changes the dex entries and some other things that need to be changed, like checksums and save numbers. Every change is consistent with how the game does it, so there should be no problems.
  14. No it won't. Ability only changes when the Pokemon evolves.
  15. Substitute protects you from the drawback of Focus Punch. If you can manipulate the opponent into letting you get a Substitute, you get a free Focus Punch. IIRC, Breloom has the strongest FP in the game.
  16. Eventually it will, but this will be released as soon as each feature is finished.
  17. What the code does is it continuously forces the game to generate PIDs until you get a shiny one. That's why there's sometimes a lag when you encounter a Pokemon. For the DO NOT BREED warning, I'm not sure what that's about.
  18. You should put the current features in the post so people know what it does. Right now, all this does is edit your Pokedex. IIRC, it doesn't yet have the special forms though. (Deoxys, Giratina, Shaymin, etc).
  19. The data is the same, no matter what the source. Whether we get it from Smogon, Marriland, Serebii, rip it from the ROM, or pull a rabbit out of a hat with the data written on an index card in its mouth, the data will always be the same, unless someone makes a mistake.
  20. If you generate a PID for a Male Kirlia, that's fine. But if you have the species set to Gallade, there's a possibility of generating a PID with an illegal gender value. I just tested this two, but generating some PIDs (Using "PID/IV" button) with Gallade selected as the species. The first had a gender value of DCh, the second 3Ch. Though I can't remember which, if given to a Kirlia one would be Male, and the other Female. One of these PIDs generated by Pokesav is illegal. Same thing happens with the "Generate" button.
  21. He's not talking about PID <-> IV relationships, he's talking about Pokemon whose pre-evolutions have different gender ratios than evolutions, and can only evolve from one of those genders. Off the top of my head, evolution lines affected by this are: Ralts, Burmy, Snorunt, and Combee. To use the Ralts line as an example: If you use Pokesav to generate a PID for a Gallade, it will generate PIDs based on the assumption that Gallade is an all Male species (which is what is programmed into the game). That assumption is true, but the pool of possible PIDs for Gallade is restricted by the fact that Gallade must evolve from a Male Kirlia, and Kirlia are not 100% Male. A PID that makes a female Kirlia would make a Male Gallade, and it would look legit on the outside, but it would not be legit because it is absolutely impossible for Female Kirlia to evolve into Gallade. Thus, if you generate a PID for a Gallade using Pokesav, there is a 50% change that it is illegal (ie, it corresponds to a Female Kirlia). If you generate the PID for a Male Kirlia and change the species to Gallade after wards, the PID will be legal. This has nothing to do with PID<->IV relationship, and nothing to do with whether the Pokemon is hatched or wild. It's a fundamental restriction on the kinds of PIDs these Pokemon can have that is tied to their method of evolution. This is an important example of why it is important to understand the nature of what you are dealing with, and especially important to not to sound authoritative about subjects that you don't fully understand (a mistake I believe the above two posters are making). Tools are only as perfect as the person (or people) that made them. Sabersite, while quite intelligent, has imperfect knowledge about Pokemon. Thus, legit.exe will be imperfect in some ways. Legit.exe is not the end-all-be-all of legality. It's constantly changing to incorporate new information. All it can detect is whether or not a Pokemon is legal based on our current knowledge. As a short term solution, KazoWAR's method works. As a long term solution, PPSE and legit.exe will probably have to code these Pokemon in as special cases or something like that.
  22. 今日は (こんにちは Konnichi wa) Two n's. With that out of the way... Hello, I'm Jiggy, nice to meet you.
  23. I have NEVER gotten a Pokemon to level 100 without glitching or cheating of some sort.
  24. Jigglypuff in SSBM. Nimblest character in the air, made me think of a Ninja. She floats faster than she runs. My name is not based on the Will Smith song at all. A previous username (not here) was MasterSniper999. Sniping used to be one of my favorite things to do in FPSes, and the master bit is just some vanity on my part. More often than not, I sucked. My current favorite FPS tactic is to take an automatic gun or shotgun and just walk around shooting at whatever crosses my path. Not very strategic or effective, but fun.
