  1. Well no community is going to change that if they just say "we'll do whatever smogon says". We want this to be our community not a copy-cat community. Yes, it will take a while to collect data and do research that other communities have already done. But we'll never get that if we just use someone else's. Sure I could have downloaded veekun's sql files for the pokedex. But I did not because I want OUR dex to be made by US. For competitive battling we will be making OUR rules and modifying them as WE see fit. I'll leave this open for now. But I will reserve the right to close it if I don't like how its going.
  2. Well Nintendo's Uber list is just different from Smogon. The concept is the same. But again I don't see why its Smogon's decision. We would follow our own guidelines based on our deductions. "Smogon says so" is not acceptable. Plus, I am sure Garchomp is also an uber in our list, so I don't know what you are so worried about. Its not on the list because Smogon says so, but because there is a good argument for why it should not be lower than that. Smogon has nothing to do with it. They just popularized the idea. No, we don't all hack. Many do. But definitely not all.
  3. Why would we have to abide by someone else's rules? But actually, no ubers is a no brainer, even Nintendo does that one.
  4. We pay very close attention to who contributes. On the wiki there is a "recent changes" and every page has a history we can look at to see who does what.
  5. We have added a new style to the forums. Credit goes to The Fallen for making it. It is named "Project Pokémon" in the style options.
  6. If you are using the shiny code with the nature code, the shiny code will over-ride the chosen nature.
  7. NO! This forum is devoted to serving ALL people who like pokemon as best as possible. The pokesav forums were devoted to hacking, Project Pokemon is not.
  8. If you are going to a tournament, get your pokemon properly, then you'll have nothing to worry about.
  9. Well this should probably be tested. I did a test when I first made the code and shaymin got turned to regular form when I tried to trade it. But it was fine as long as I did not trade it (battling). I did not check to see the extent of this, though.
  10. So you would edit the ROM? If so it would be easier to edit the encounter file and add feebas to the list of regular pokemon you can fish.
  11. Well, I don't need help coding wise. But suggestions on what to do or where to put links, etc are a great help. I can worry about how to implement it.
  12. The database is a mysql database with several tables. I am using php to code the dex (and the rest of the site so far), but I thought that was obvious: http://projectpokemon.org/pokedex/pokedex.php?natid=001
  13. Not sure I understand the question. What do you mean "how"?
  14. This is a hard one for me since I rarely use grass types. I'll go with vileplume. Its the grass type I used when I first played Red.
  15. Fixed the Felmale issue. About the forms: The pokemon form images at the top already link to the section for each form. Adding anchors for each section within a for is something to be done. But I have not figured out what the best way would be.
  16. You can report anything here. As for items, there will be a link for each evolution type later and for the item as well. For the items there would be item location and for the evolution types, which pokemon evolve using that evolution type.
  17. What info? Stats, move learned, which squares it will be encountered at?
  18. I added a link to the News Article Archive in the main page.
  19. No, thank you. That is precisely how I would like all suggestions to be.
  20. Necesitas editar los archivos en /fielddata/encountdata/ P.S. He was asking what files he needs to edit for wild encounters. Answer is the ones in /fielddata/encountdata/
  21. Sorry about that. I added PokeTEX to the list: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?t=324 Now to make a list go to the data/mmodel/mmodel.narc and double click it using Tahaxan Tihaxa. Then compare the offsets of the files inside it and the offsets on the list. Make a corresponding list for english platinum using the offsets given in tahaxan tihaxa.
  22. Yes, it will, but that is not done yet. I did not see a reason to hold all the data that is currently up because of a few missing pieces of information.
  23. Can you be more specific on the tables. I've never seen Bulbapedia's and I am not inclined to make it look like Serebii's. But if you have a specific reason why you think its better a certain way, then I will gladly take that into consideration.
  24. Here is my take on this: I think that using game enhancers like Pokesav, DSPokeEdit, AR codes, etc is a great thing to have around. But only as enhancers for people who want to enhance their experience. For example, when I got the japanese platinum, I wanted to get to the new things quickly so I got myself a level 100 empoleon, and got through the game quickly (not being able to understand japanese also contributed to trying to get through the game quickly). I started playing my english platinum (after the cartridge sitting on my desk for three weeks) and am just past the second gym. While I dumped the rom as soon as I got the game and have been studying platinum on my computer I had not taken the time to play the game as its supposed to. My real cartridges always stay 100% legit and when I want to do something that would otherwise be impossible, I use the rom and a flashcart or emulator, but that doesn't get back to my real cart. If I ever go to a Nintendo Tournament, not likely, I will have nothing to worry about. One thing we must all realize is that we are vastly different from Nintendo on this. Nintendo probably knows EVERYTHING about the pokemon games, in particular where everything is in the sav. If they don't, they can probably get whatever information they want from Game Freak. Compared to Game Freak/Nintendo, we know very little. While we do have access to the ROM and all the information we want is there. Its hard for us to decipher everything. On the other hand Game Freak has the source code for the games. So for us to know what they check or what they can check would be very hard. But the main reason why I don't want game enhancing to touch any of my carts that I might end up using in a tournament is that I think that Nintendo Tournaments are made for people who play the game how Nintendo intends the game to be played. I also think that when we buy the game we have a right to do with it as we please, (including extracting the rom, the sav, using ram editing or deciding we'd rather play the rom on our flashcart), as long as it will not intrude on other's experience. Using game enhancers and then going to a tournament is disrespectful to the people who make sacrifices to play the game as Nintendo intends and then go to their tournaments. I doubt that I will go through the breeding or soft re-setting that would be required to make the team that I would use. But if in my research I discover something that will allow me to cut my team building time and is 100% legit, then I will use that. Otherwise I will stay out of Nintendo Tournaments and stick to having fun with game enhancers and researching the game. Well, some people have their real cart but back up their save then edit then put it back in their game cart.
  25. Tyranitar comes in close second. But I tend to like Houndoom better because he's also a fire type. P.S. I missed the Fire type one, but Houndoom get my vote there too, with Arcanine coming in close second.
