Likelihood any of these savefiles are all long dead. Gen II events that aren't in Stadium, or already privately dumped, are lost for good. I think if someone on this forum had one they'd be willing to contribute, they would have come forward already.

REQUEST: Japanese Gen II event Celebi (Non-GS Ball event version)
Deoxyz replied to fabio00's topic in Event Contributions
I always figure the main reason most people used the Stadium storage system was to back up their pokemon to start a new game without loosing them. Some may have been transferred back, some not. That's what you'll usually see in storage, tons of random pokemon. I figure some Celebis went through this process. Like you said, some people probably know what they have. Though when they no longer care, the cart will end up somewhere with a new owner, by internet or locally, whether we find it or not. I'm sure there's some out there. It's a very hard goal, but dedication usually pays off. At least, it's something we can aim to achieve within the coming years. I'm personally sick of spending money on this stuff, so I'd rather look towards finding a private collector to deal with... if possible lol... In regards to the clock message you mention, idk. My Crystal gave me clock reset messages upon boot for a couple years before it actually lost the savefile. It must have had trouble retaining the RTC data with the battery getting weaker, but with any other cartridge their deaths came with no warning. It was odd. All I know is when the battery drains totally, there's zero power running through the cart to retain any RAM, so the savefile will be gone regardless of seeing a message or not. -

What bothers me is that when these guys retire, many will likely completely stop caring about doing further trading/collecting, yet still keep these things under lock and key years later to be forgotten. Though those that are still into trading and have one of these, I don't think it would hurt to have at least ONE Japanese Celebi public in the meantime. If anyone reading this has one, I would be willing to negotiate a fair variety from my private stuff just to allow one Japanese Celebi to surface. Before I sold off my N64 collection, I bypassed the region lock on Japanese carts by replacing the back of the cartridges with those from cheap trash sports games: https://imgur.com/a/zCBx3 Being worth the time is subjective, as pretty much most efforts of event preservation are. I used to think buying GBA distributions were worth the hundreds/thousands of dollars. These days? Hell no. It all depends on your passion and drive to achieve that goal. I'm pretty sure a few people I know here would be more than willing to start occasionally buying Stadium GS carts on eBay. Though the real problem I see at the core of what I was recommending is the very slim chance of finding a real one in the storage. I used to do occasionally this with Japanese Gen I carts and never got lucky. It can happen though, look at the SpaceWorld 97 Mew. However since you're referring to manipulating data from the rental Celebi, personally I wouldn't, but I don't speak for everyone. -

@Brittany Most private collectors like this don't care about money, but I suppose it's possible. We have rare trade-worthy material, the question is if he'd accept. @fabio00 I think @ajxpk tried contacting him a couple years back and got no response. I have ideas that some people on this forum may have the Celebi anyway. A problem we face either way is they'd probably not want it to go public if we made a deal. -

I thought I had seen them on Ahiru in the past, but I don't think I ever figured why there weren't downloads like with the Gen III events. Thanks for the explanation. That proves my point, they are preserved and are being hoarded away somewhere. I don't think that really helps us though, because iirc Ahiru doesn't answer emails anymore. -

This is the HUGE problem with preserving Gen II events compared to Gen I. Most carts died many years ago, while quite a good amount of Gen I were still alive until more recent years. I think the only real chance is buying Japanese "Pocket Monsters Stadium Gold Silver" N64 carts, as it's likely the only place you'll find an original Celebi these days. Regardless, it's still playing "needle in the haystack". However it wouldn't surprise me if someone is already hoarding one somewhere. -
As part of this year's annual Christmas releases to the Pokemon event community, today we present the first Mew ever known to be preserved from the distribution held at SpaceWorld 1997. Not only is this our first Mew from SW97, it is also the oldest/earliest pokemon event we've ever had the privilege of preserving. This Mew was recently discovered through a post on Reddit by u/salinbreezy, in which he shows the Mew on a Japanese Blue cart that he found at a thrift store alongside several other Japanese Pokemon cartridges. I'd like to give special thanks to @suloku and @HaxAras who both emailed me in late September to inform me of it, while suloku asked me to contact salinbreezy myself to counter the time and expense of overseas shipping. Thankfully salinbreezy happily agreed to ship me his cartridge to allow me to dump the savefile. After direct examination, we're positive that this Mew is very likely legitimate. This Mew was distributed like most events of the era, by a "Mew machine", which as we know distributes identical Mews with TIDs incremented by 1 to the player's party. Bulbapedia provides a bit further information on the event, stating: To be eligible to receive a Mew, players had to submit an application postcard; only 100,000 people were able to receive this Mew. While originally going to be run from November 22 to 23, 1997, the distribution was later extended to the non-exhibition day November 24, 1997. While this is the ヨッシー (YOSHI) OT variant of the SW97 Mew, one of the other known OT possibilities is ルイージ (LUIGI). This is TID 15219 of the ヨッシー Mews. Again, I'd like to thank salinbreezy for allowing us to preserve this Mew. It may very well be the only Mew we ever see from SpaceWorld 1997, as the life of the batteries retaining these old savefiles are at their very end. Japanese events from Generation I and II are extremely rare as it is, and to date the only other Japanese events from the era that we've preserved are four マクハリ (Makuhari) Mews from SpaceWorld 1999. ----- salinbreezy's image from Reddit: Dumping salinbreezy's Japanese Blue cart: SpaceWorld 1997 Mew Promotional Advertisement: In regards to further event rarities being released this year, there may be more to see tomorrow elsewhere on the internet 151 - ミュウ - 15219.pk1 Blue.sav

1998 Nintendo Power 'MARIO' Mew Distribution
Deoxyz replied to Gridelin's topic in Event Contributions
As @ajxpk stated, mistakingly not filtering out perfect hacks is always a potential reality of event preservation. If we are going to be this paranoid, a good amount of the older events we currently have up should come into question. It's hard to say we can 100% verify the lesser documented events. It doesn't make me discount the loads of undocumented PCNYs we have, for example. We have to consider that when events like this check out legal in comparison to our research data, especially events this rare, they shouldn't be withheld due to the off chance it's a perfect hack. I trust the judgment of Sabresite and ajxpk. Most hackers don't know how to do it right anyway with out some sort of unintentional sign, much less go through that effort for a public hoax. That's just my two cents anyway, not trying to chew you out or anything. We have a ton of rarities we may never find again, I just don't want to see them held back for lack of perfect documentation. -

Odd, I don't remember any PKRuS tagging, but I may be wrong. It can't be all of them that's for sure. In my personal opinion, a PKRuS tag is no big deal and should be put up anyway since they're so rare, even removing the PKRuS first if it's questionable. I honestly have no idea where the Makuhari Mews came from, I've had them on my PC a long time. Only source I can find is the github, so maybe see what @Sabresite has to say. -

By the way, you're still missing the FINLAND Mew from suloku and the four Spaceworld 99 Makuhari Mews. Not to mention the tons Japanese Gen III events. I think we may have discussed the Gen III events a while back though, so understandable if you haven't had the time yet. Also @Sabresite, the github is still missing all the YOSHIRA Mews from the Red distribution cart savefile. Also, the github's YOSHIRB Mew is mislabeled as "YOSHIBB". The YOSHIBA is correct though. -

That was apparently made up while it was being leaked on /vp/ This is as much that is known in relation to the real story, according to Sanquii and his group: https://iimarckus.org/spaceworld/ However, we can speculate the possibility that the SpaceWorld97 Mew software may have leaked alongside the GS beta demo, since they were held at the same place and time. That's not guaranteed, but fairly reasonable to consider the possibility. I wish it was known, exactly WHO was the one who posted the GS beta demos in Sanquii's discord, how they obtained them, etc. While we do have an idea of what we would like to obtain in regards to research, it's WAY easier said than done. When it comes down to it, it's just insanely hard to find the collectors that have these roms/software, and the majority refuse to share or even talk about what they own. Also considering, we have no idea how many remaining roms/carts have actually leaked from Nintendo-related sources, and are still not in the hands of any private collectors. It's unfortunate, but that's how this undertaking has shown itself to be for us over the past couple years. Not to mention, when we do find something we can actually obtain, it's usually been like "give me 3000 dollars for a copy of this rom lol". -

I'm very happy to see that we've been able to preserve quite a handful of unique Gen I and II events over the last few years. The fact that most events of this era have already vanished with dying batteries makes this a crucial time to preserve them within these few remaining years of their lifespan. It seems that Reddit has been a very good place to find these, since in January we had the YOSHIRA Mew distribution cart savefile dumped, now this MARIO Mew, and hopefully if all goes as planned we'll very soon have a SpaceWorld97 ヨッシー Mew. It's something suloku and HaxAras brought to my attention a few months back, but due to real life priorities of the cart owner, messages between me and him so far are few and far apart. Thanks a ton to Gridelin, suloku, and Th4tGuyUKn0, seeing rare events preserved is one of the few things that keeps me interested in the franchise. It always feels like a great success. Hopefully future generations will appreciate these preservation efforts decades after we're no longer involved. Often times the goal surely isn't easy to achieve. -
Well there goes my theory, didn't realize it was like serial codes and needed internet verification... Scalpers are definitely going to jump on this, unless there's an expiration date. Wow, that's really sad... A future where we can't preserve full mystery gifts? Back to Gen I and II preservation methods I guess, just the .pkm. So ideally we'd want get many preserved so it's not just the same handful of clones being spread around... So if I understand, even if it is theoretically possible to grab the wondercard data from RAM, it'd ultimately be useless? Personally, I'd still preserve them if possible. I guess there's no way to spoof the server, but maybe some custom method to generate pokemon with the wondercards will be developed in the future. All considering if sufficient data can be preserved, I'm just saying this from a viewpoint of not knowing how events work in these games.
-
I wonder how many greedy scalpers are going to grab up a ton of Pokeball Plus, then sell them for twice/x-times the price once they are no longer offered for sale with Mews inside. I have no idea how this hardware works. But the point I wanted to get at, is that I wonder if there's a way to wirelessly communicate(similar to wc7full RAM dumps) and extract the data from an unused PBP, and re-inject the data at any given point. Therefore preserving the original event the way it was intended.

These are Pokemon FireRed savefiles which contain a compilation of legit event Pokemon for the Generation 3 games (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed & LeafGreen). These savefiles have been in development by several ProjectPokemon members since April 2016, but has been hosted exclusively on another website. As of now, these savefiles will be concurrently hosted on ProjectPokemon as well. The Genaration III Pokemon games had a ton of events, many of which are extremely hard to obtain today. The Gen III games predate any sort of internet trading, and the event Pokemon from this generation have often been migrated up to newer Pokemon games. These factors make it quite hard to find legitimate event Pokemon for Gen III. The only way we can expect to obtain more event Pokemon for Gen III is if others share their save/pk3 files, so please consider sharing if you happen to have some! To learn more about Pokemon events in Generation 3, you can look over the following pages: List of English event Pokémon distributions in Generation III List of Japanese event Pokémon distributions in Generation III List of Journey Across America event Pokémon distributions List of Party of the Decade event Pokémon distributions List of PCNY event Pokémon distributions in Generation III List of Gather More Pokémon! We also have a full set of Aura Mew distributions from Europe, each in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. OT is the same for each language. Aura Mew was distributed at various locations in August 2007 throughout Europe. Note: The English 10ANNIV distribution rom and English Aura Mew distribution rom have been released to the public. These savefiles were put together by some of us here, but hosted on another website (which we can't link to because of hosting distribution roms). Now that I think about it, I have no idea why we never uploaded the savefiles here, there's no reason not to. I'll try to get that uploaded today when I have a chance. @ajxpk The raw Ahiru savefiles are in the gallery, but as you know it's a mess to sort through. Since our event compilation saves were made specifically to be user friendly, I'm going to get those shared here. Though yes, the individual pk3s should be hosted as well. ----- Edit: Gen III event compilation savefiles uploaded on PP:

Everything in those savefiles are legitimate. PKHeX just doesn't have the majority of the Japanese Gen III events registered, so they get improperly flagged as illegal.

I didn't care for it initially upon seeing it, but then seeing that it may have interesting lore and a connection with Ditto, it's a lot more appealing. The Ditto connection also immediately drew me towards the connections @ajxpk made with Animon. I wouldn't be surprised if Meltan was inspired by Animon and they recycled/reworked the concept. I hope we see an interesting concept fruition from Meltan, and not yet another false hype up for promotional purposes. Also hope we don't need Go to obtain it, my older phone doesn't agree with running the app. Not a mobile gamer anyway. Regardless, I'm always excited to see new pokemon revealed. It's the best part of the continuing franchise. No exception here, and its design has already grown on me quite a bit.

So I wanted to provide a general overview of how Nintendo/GF originally created the savefile that was used on these FireRed carts. It's been said in the past that they filled a completed FireRed savefile with 426 Mews, and then copied the save to hundreds of retail carts to send to Toys R Us stores across the country to use for the distribution. This is true, but what hasn't been said publicly is how the Mews themselves were generated. I decided to share this visual that I had made about a year ago, which helped me better visualize what we had learned from the data about the generation process. Basically what they had was a very similar version of the pokemon distribution software/rom that we all know from 10ANNIV, etc. This software however completely filled the party with Mews, rather than just generating one at a time. (This is likely similar to what we saw with the Shroomish/Barboach test distributions in the German Debug Ruby rom.) They started with only one pokemon remaining in the party (possibly the over-leveled Blastoise seen in the Hall of Fame), then ran the distribution software which generated their first group of 5 Mews. The "Blastoise" was then released, and the first 4 Mews were placed vertically, top to bottom on the bottom right side, in Box 14. The distribution software was ran again, then the next group of 5 Mews were moved to the PC in the same order, with the 5th Mew on top of the previous column. This process was repeated many times until every single PC box was full. working backwards from Box 14 to Box 1. When the final group of 5 were generated, the 3rd Mew from that group was move to Box Slot 1,1 to fill the last hole in the PC. The 5th Mew from the first group generated remained in the party the entire time. And while trivial, for whatever reason, the first two Mews from the third-to-last group were shifted upwards two slots in Box 1, with the 5th Mew from the second-to-last group placed in the middle of the column rather than at the top. The distribution software was ran one final time to generate a Mew to fill the last empty slot in the party. Since this last Mew was generated by itself, there's no relative data to reference, therefore impossible for us to recreate it. The other 5 party Mews were able to be recreated based off data from the Mews generated in their same group of 5. Though what wasn't possible until a few days ago was recreating them to also include their trashbytes. While trivial, trashbytes are important for legality and preservation purposes. That's why the 5 recreated party Mews weren't public until now. Thanks a bunch to @ajxpk for successfully cracking this case. Every time we think we've gotten as far as we ever will regarding Mystery Mew, somehow we get lucky and gain another step forward. Who knows if Mystery Mew #426 will ever surface... It's possible someone who attended the original distribution in 2006 still owns a cartridge with Mew #426, but it's unlikely they'll ever know they have the most important Mew from this event.

How many times can an Eon Ticket be shared via Mixing Records?
Deoxyz replied to andrewism's topic in Generation 3
Iirc, the Eon Ticket can only be shared from a game which received it directly from the distribution device. -
Absolutely admirable work! Thanks for sharing this, it's a handy modern alternative for distributing GSC Mystery Gifts. ?

Will you still be playing Pokemon once gen 25 hits?
Deoxyz replied to KillerCorgi's topic in Pokémon Franchise
If I haven't grown out of it yet at this age, I don't think I ever will. At least in regards to playing what I already love. There's no telling if the franchise may eventually stray far enough from the core concept enough to turn me away for good to all future titles. But even with the increasing casualization the past few generations, I still remain optimistic for the future. I'll keep playing current titles as long as they're still fun in some way to me. And even with LGPE, while I think it's too simplified for me, as long as it's a separate line of the core series, I don't see how it won't at least be fun to play in short spans when you don't have the time to get too invested. A separate line like this is also good to spit out during the down years like this to hold us over until the next big new games get released, eg Pokemon Switch 2019, because the last down year in 2015 was a killer bore for me. But now I think I'm straying of onto another topic, so I'll stop on that note. There's also other aspects that keep me going though. Like the ongoing effort of historical and event preservation, to make sure we don't loose important pieces of the franchise's past. When more unseen distribution software surfaces, and stuff like the amazing Gold/Silver beta demo, these get me just as excited as a new game does. -
Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee
Deoxyz replied to Cecillia's topic in News Discussion
I think Pokemon Colosseum and GoD are also considered "main series" (or "side series"), because they aren't spin-offs either, however they aren't "core series". I think the important point is to understand the different categories, whatever you may call them. Personally, if this formula was the future of the series, It'd be majorly disappointing and I would end my support immediately for the franchise onward. However as we know, 2019 is supposed to be the "real" Switch RPG that was hinted at during last year's E3. That makes me totally fine with LGP/LGE being it's own thing, even if it turns into it's own "Let's Go" line with future releases to better suit casual fans. I'm still waiting to see more detailed information. Regardless, I don't think this game will be bad in any sense, considering this isn't the future of the "core series" formula. I think it'd be fun to play through a 3D Kanto (even if it is similar to XY/ORAS graphics), something easy to pass the time during boredom without getting as invested in it as with a core game. I don't see why it wouldn't at least be enjoyable. I always said I don't want another Kanto remake unless it features a new story taking place years after GSC (or a prequel), so lets hope it isn't just a watered down RGBY. In summary, I'm totally okay with this as long as we'll still be getting the regular formula RPGs, which we are. Also, something to note is that Gale of Darkness teased us with Bonsly and Munchlax before Gen IV was even out. That's probably what they're doing in LGPE with that "special" pokemon they teased.
