Archived Sticky: Event Contribution Collection
Zowayix replied to Sabresite's topic in Event Contributions
Could someone tell me what values I have to hex edit, and how to change the checksum to be valid? Sabresite said that using the posted AR code will make the event pokemon illegal. I don't know why, so if someone can tell me, that would also be appreciated.- 1164 replies

True. However, the game only displays 3 digits, so if you did hack the stat to 65535, it would display as "?35" where the "?" is either a question mark or a glitch character. Similar to the R/B MissingNo. glitch that allowed over 99 of an item - it displayed a glitch block in the "tens" place since it's trying to display 129 in two digits. The only way I know to do this is to hex-edit the stat value in, then use some program (not sure if Pokesav can do this) to fix the checksum, and only the checksum. (Note: Pokesav apparently does not fix only the checksum. It might also force stat values back to 999.)

Question: Is it currently possible to insert a HG/SS wondercard into a HG/SS save file? From reading this thread, apparently Pokesav won't work (why?), so are there other methods like AR codes, hex editing, etc.?- 1164 replies

Granted, but it's too small to fit. I wish that someone would corrupt this wish.

~Guide to 44h, 45h, 46h, 47h, and 85h Values~
Zowayix replied to Preston's topic in Saves - Research
The easiest way to know them here is to normally catch a Pokemon on those routes, put them into Pokesav, and check their location values. Then just copy them over to whatever you are editing. -
Are you sure? Smogon says the base power is 40-50-60-80-200.

Thanks, but how do I make it so the IVs and PID match up with Common GBA Event Unrestricted? Or is there no correlation like Gen IV?

This is how the glitch happens: In binary, a Pokemon's IVs are stored as this: SpDef/SpAtk/Speed/Attack/Defense/HP Where each value between slashes ranges from 00000 to 11111 in binary (0 to 31 in decimal). So for example, the IVs 27/14/16/31/5 (with HP first and SpDef last) would be stored as: 00101/11111/10000/01110/11011 What the glitch does is that it copies only the last eight numbers, changing the rest to zeros: 00000/00000/00000/00110/11011 or 27/6/0/0/0/0 This means that only the HP IV is copied correctly; and the Attack IV can be no higher than 00111 in binary or 7 in decimal. Effectively: - HP is correct - Defense, Speed, SpAtk, and SpDef all become 0 - If Attack is 16 or higher, subtract 16 from it - If it is still 8 or higher, subtract 8 from it

What about Pokemon Box? And how would I make a legal (for example) 10 ANIV Celebi? Example: I download the 10 ANIV Celebi from the PKM DB. I want to change its nature/IVs/etc., so how do I do that while keeping it legal?

If I remember correctly, Gen IV events all use the normal "Mystery Gift" algorithm, where the IVs can be anything and the PID must be non-shiny (if it's dynamic). But I think Gen III events have different PID-IV correlations, most of which I don't know about. So: - What is the PID-IV correlation for event Pokemon from Gen III? I'm mostly asking about Pokemon Box - is it possible to just take a hatched, migrated Pokemon from Gen III and hack the special move onto it? (With the exception of Pichu, since it knows the HM move Surf). - Are there any exceptions to the "Mystery Gift" algorithm for Gen IV events?

What is the data from a Pokemon caught in the PokeWalker? For example, I have a PKM of a Viridian Forest Pikachu, and I want to make it look like a legal Flying Pikachu from the PokeWalker. After making one of its moves into Fly, what else do I need to edit? (Like location data, level met, PID-IV relationship, trash bytes, etc.)

No, in Emerald, it only works on wild Pokemon not interacted with: Taken from Smogon, this is a list of all the interactable Pokemon in Emerald (that Synchronize will NOT work on): - Voltorb, Electrode (fake Poke Balls only, regular wild ones will work with Synch) - Mew (Faraway Island, Japanese Emerald only) - Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile - Sudowoodo - Lugia, Ho-Oh (Navel Rock) - Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip - Lileep, Anorith - Castform - Kecleon (Devon Scope invisible ones only, regular wild Kecleon will work with Synch) - Wynaut (The Lavaridge Town egg only, regular wild Wynaut from Mirage Island will work with Synch) - Beldum - Regirock, Regice, Registeel - Latias, Latios (Both the roaming one and the Southern Island one) - Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza - Deoxys (Birth Island) Full recap: - Synchronize NEVER works in R/S/FR/LG. - Synchronize only works on wild non-interacted Pokemon in Emerald, so it will not work on the ones in the list above - Synchronize works on ALL Pokemon in Gen IV.

How is the data for a pokemon caught in the pokewalker any different from a normal wild pokemon? (e.g. location data, hex values, PID/IV correlation, etc.) For example, is it possible to catch 2 exactly identical Pikachu, one in the pokewalker Yellow Forest and the other in Viridian Forest? (besides stuff like level caught)
-
No, you weren't. Synchronizers work on: - Wild Pokemon (not legendaries) in Emerald only. (not R/S/FR/LG) - All wild Pokemon in Gen IV including legendaries and stationary ones like Sudowoodo in HG/SS.

HM09 is not a glitch move in any games - there are no glitch moves called "HM##" or "TM##" in Gen II, and in Gen I the "HM##" moves only went up to HM05. HM09 is a glitch item that can be obtained through the Celebi glitch and does nothing except for being something to sell.

Ok, thanks.

Link trade arrived or met?

Ok, now I think I get it: According to Bulbapedia, IVs are stored as: SpDef/SpAtk/Speed/Defense/Attack/HP Where each stat takes 5 bits (so it ranges from 0-31.) So 31 IVs in every stat would be: 11111/11111/11111/11111/11111. Normally all these would be copied normally since it's doing an AND operation with all 1's (& 0xFFFFFF or whatever). However, since it is doing an AND operation with only 0xFF, only the last 8 bits are copied correctly, and the rest becomes zeros: Original IVs: 25/14/31/5/2 In binary:......00010/00101/11111/01110/11001 After & 0xFF: .00000/00000/00000/00110/11001 Which is now 25/6/0/0/0/0. So to sum it up: HP IV is copied normally. Def, SpAtk, SpDef, and Speed all become zero. Attack IV becomes: If originally 16 or higher, subtract 16 from it. If it is still 8 or higher, subtract 8 from it. Am I understanding all this right?

The FR/LG/E wondercards have no special text on the "back side" like DPP. I don't know if they disappear after being received. I've only seen a few pictures of wondercards (never got one myself) and it said something like: "Talk to the green man on the top floor of the Pokemon Center to receive your [whatever item]. Do not trash this Wonder card until after receiving the item!" Because of that last sentence, I'd assume that they disappear after being received, since the green man is apparently only there if you have the Wondercard with you. About the islands on the Town Map (I'm talking about FRLG btw; I know they don't show up in Emerald), now that I think about it, I think I tried using those codes before I'd gotten to the Sevii Islands, so since the Town Map pages themselves weren't supposed to appear yet, that might be why they didn't appear. (After using the Town Map on Navel Rock, I think the page appeared without Navel Rock showing up, then after I tried switching the map to Kanto, I couldn't switch back to the Sevii Islands because those pages aren't supposed to be there yet.)

Your Porygon-Z isn't staying shiny because shinyness depends on its Trainer ID and Secret ID. In Pokesav, you can leave your own Trainer ID and Money blank, but you have to make sure the egg's Trainer ID and Secret ID match yours before you click the "Shiny" button. If you don't know your Secret ID, there's an AR code that changes your money to your Secret ID (see the AR codes thread).

I'm kind of familiar with hexadecimal, but what does "&" mean? Doesn't it mean modulo operation?

They definitely have Wonder Cards. Are you sure the Eon Ticket was put directly into Key Items? If I remember correctly, after using Mystery Event, you would go to Norman in Petalburg Gym and he would give the item to you. And in FR/LG/E, you would receive a Wonder Card through Mystery Gift (you had to have the Wireless Adapter) and then you could pick up the item from a person dressed in green standing next to Teala on the top floor of the Pokemon Center. What I really want is not the tickets themselves, but the game to function exactly as if they had been legitimately obtained. I've used codes to obtain a MysticTicket and an AuroraTicket on my FireRed, and although I did get the surprised expression from the sailor, etc., the islands did not show up on the Town Map.

If I obtain an egg on a Japanese game, then trade the egg to an English game and hatch it, will the language be "JPN" or "ENG"? Would it still say hatched at "Daycare Couple" or would it say "Link trade", etc.? Basically, is it any different from obtaining and hatching an egg on the same game?
