  1. You've made some great contributions; sorry to see you go. I haven't been involved with ROM hacking in the last couple of years but I think I understand how you feel.
  2. Sabresite built berry fix zigzagoon checks into his program; legal spreads shouldn't say hacked.
  3. Glad to see your mapping efforts out in the open at last.
  4. Any theories as to why those wouldn't be included? (Besides to troll you of course.)
  5. It's 100% legit. It would prolly be closer to a 250/250 if I waited until early morning and did it outside my dorm room. Like randomspot said, university connections can be obscenely fast. As for abuse: they are pretty liberal but they'll cut you off if they receive any threats from the media companies. Supposedly there is also a 10GB/wk upload cap but I'm not sure if they enforce that. TBH I don't torrent here because it would be like driving the speed limit in a Lamborghini. I have a $10/mo unlimited Usenet connection and it takes full advantage of my bandwidth.
  6. Very interesting stuff.
  7. It's old and possibly outdated, but I have some requirements outlined in this post I made on GBATemp.
  8. I think a lot of you are grossly overestimating Codr's legal liabilities here. Simply requiring payment for a product does not inherently require a person to become some kind of full-fledged business. Codr is trustworthy and I'm sure he will make good on his promises, but anybody who sends him money with the expectation of guaranteed service is a fool. Think of it as a gift if that's what it takes.
  9. Have a look a Dwolla. Their fee schedule is simpler and more reasonable. The downside is that AFAIK you can't expedite the process of adding money to your account with a credit card like you can with PayPal.
  10. Keep in mind that a lot of the space trimmers get rid of is absolutely blank. I've looked. You're not gaining much by not trimming. That said, there may be some overzealous trimmers out there that cut out other parts, I'm not sure...
  11. Excellent stuff, keep the lessons coming!
  12. Been playing with VBA all day and I'm sad to say that emulating this appears to be out of the picture, even with a version that supports link and e-reader functionality. It's all up to you Nigoli! BTW did you see my link to the $55 e-reader+ ZoneBoii?
  13. I intentionally left out the save region hacking part because it would be simple enough for you or me to do that after he uploads the Japanese save file. Saves him the trouble. Speaking of saves, ZoneBoii could you send me the English save you have where you're standing in the e-Reader room? I have a custom-built VBA that I want to test with Dolphin and it would save me some time if I didn't have to go through the entire process myself. Fell free to PM or post the link here, whatever you prefer.
  14. No$gba does work great for the e-Reader part, but unless I'm missing something it can't link up with Dolphin. VBA-M however can.
  15. Great! If it's not too much trouble could you hook it up to a Japanese copy of Colosseum, print out the image below at 300DPI on a decent quality printer, scan the printed image in, save Colosseum right after the scan, and upload the save here for us to tinker with? (Technically we're gonna need the save converted to an English save but we can easily do that ourselves.) On another note, I've been researching emulators and I've come to the somewhat unfortunate conclusion that no existing binary for VBA includes both link support and e-reader support (there are versions that include one or the other). I may look into merging e-reader support into the main VBA-M source and compiling my own but I make no promises that I'm not hopelessly out of my league with that task.
  16. More google mining and I found one for a fairly sane $55 shipped. http://www.gamebaz.com/?a=i&i=8357U I still think an emulator is the way to go though.
  17. The most feasible way to do this region hacking would actually be to edit an English version of Colosseum to identify as Japanese, hopefully unlocking it and enabling communication with a (Japanese) e-Reader+ which could be either real or running in an emulator.
  18. I was looking into this more last night. It looks like you could actually try it with Dolphin (the GC/Wii emulator) and VBA-M (the GBA emulator). I haven't gotten as far as actually hooking them up, but I've successfully loaded the e-Reader+ ROM in no$gba and "scanned" one of the raw files I provided in my last post. At that point I am presented with this lovely screen which Guested translated as something along the lines of "can only be used with Colosseum". No surprises there since I wasn't connected.
  19. I was asking how you actually accessed the room but I see how you did it now. Unfortunately I doubt there's any straightforward way to get access to the ereader content without actually having the appropriate cards (or data dumps of them). I'm pretty sure the content of those cards doesn't exist anywhere in Colosseum; it is dynamically loaded from the card and handled by Colosseum. EDIT: Maybe not. Posts here seem to indicate otherwise. EDIT2: Somehow I managed to find dumps of the ecards. Not really sure what to do with them though. Have a look.
  20. Maybe this is a stupid question, but how was this video made?
  21. Very nice work. I wouldn't have thought the sprites would be in HG/SS.
  22. The only reason I say that is because if someone has a flashcard, putting a bunch of development into some kind of nifi-enabled homebrew is a waste of time. The tools are already there for a person with a flashcard to edit their saves; and save editing will always trump these network hacks. It's nothing personal.
  23. This thread is dedicated to solutions that don't require a flashcard. Any kind of non-nintendo code on the DS (ie your proxy) would require a flashcard.
  24. I'm not sure what you mean by this.
