That's not surprising. As I mentioned in another post recently, the "Load from code" feature isn't perfect, and probably won't be any time soon. Oh look, more XP annoyances. I don't get this problem on Windows 7, but I just tried it on XP, and of course, what you described happened. I'll find out why and fix it. Edit: This wasn't specific to XP, Windows 7 was just treating the invalid program code differently to where it happened to work. Anyway, it's fixed for the next release. Now, if only I could get Silent Storm's problem to occur for me.

[Concept] Wii & DS Wonder Card Distribution Application
Codr replied to Nigoli's topic in Systems, Flashcards, and Emulation
It's pretty presumptuous to think that they couldn't throw out something completely different. They could radically alter all kinds of things, including the entire Pokemon structure, if they chose to do so. I'm not sure why you're trying to argue this when, again, nobody can know. Err, yeah, I kind of ignored all the Wii-esque comments, since it seemed pretty unrelated to anything I ever see discussed in this section of the forums. I didn't mean to say that YOUR post's contents were somehow extraneous. It was actually amusing. I was continuing on with the "ranting", and didn't want to sidetrack it down that path, so I was referring to my own statement. The last thing I said is perfectly related to the topic, and your post. I'm not sure why there's an obvious negativity being presented either. It's like you feel offended that I don't think your idea is wonderful. Regardless, your goal is to have a more perfectly simulated environment for receiving event Pokemon, is it not? Rather than dealing with all of the network-related issues involved with your method (and anything else that might be unforeseen, or that I'm just not thinking of), finding a way that works with all the tools we currently have just makes more sense.- 24 replies

I don't see how you could know this with enough certainty to say "will". In fact, I'd wager that you couldn't know. ...TVs? I also can't stand the way people use those two terms (assuming I'm interpreting your mood here correctly), but that's not exactly related to this topic! Ultimately, I think it'd be a lot more time-efficient and consistent with existing methods for someone to just check the DS games' assembly code to find out exactly how the PID/IVs are generated. I'll probably do this myself at some point. Also, I'd be a little surprised if someone hasn't done it already anyway and I just don't know about it.- 24 replies

Can you upload the save file? Even if you just PM me a link or something. (Although I don't know why you'd care about it being public.)

Why are people still using Pokesav for Pokemon editing? Unless it's for non-US games.

Is this occurring with the latest version?

You're right, they're mixed up. I'll fix for the next release.

According to the common knowledge passed around, since there's no technical relationship between the PID and IVs, ANY PID and IVs can be used. Even if they just happen to be related in a coincidental way. If you mean the completely random one it can generate, PokeGen does the same thing if you leave the PID editbox blank. It's generated solely based on the information you provide and not by any sort of game-related algorithm.

Editing them manually just invites user error even more than is already possible. I've considered adding a VIEWER for the raw data, but it's not exactly high on my list of things to do. As far as I know, there is no algorithm used for eggs. I don't personally think this is entirely correct, I just think nobody has done any conclusive research on it yet. Someone else might be able to give more information though. The IVs aren't contained IN the PID, they're just RELATED to the PID in that the PID and IVs all come from the same RNG seed. Their IVs are supposedly unrelated to the PID.

I'm not entirely sure what means Sabresite used to come up with the information he did for existing PID methods, but it must have just been a lot of guesswork at first. For all we know, this Jirachi may not have any correlation between its IVs and PID. Edit: I made a simple program to check a very large number of different potential PID methods and not a single one matched the Jirachi. I'm very willing to bet that there's no correlation between the PID and IVs for it, like eggs.

You know that File > Load from code does this, right? (Although not very reliably. It'd be way too much of a pain to try to completely accurately check it.) I think you just meant you want to do it yourself though.

I had the same thought when I saw this thread. Given the fact that the PID finder doesn't find an exact match with the IVs the Pokemon has by default with methods 10 or 11, it shows that this Jirachi uses a potentially new method. In fact, I'd say it definitely is something new. (At least to me, but maybe I'm a bit behind.) Edit: I also just noticed that the IVs on the Jirachi in the first post are different from the one I downloaded.

Shut_Ur_Meowth made a video and mentioned the lack of PP updating, which bothered me. That's what prompted it being added. Also, I have no idea what exactly you were asking for in that other post.

I apologize for having to put another update out so quickly, but this is fairly significant. 2.31 FIXED: Saving save files with the backup option enabled could cause extra data to be written to the save file.

Don't use Pokesav. That's the best way to fix the problem. (Look at my signature.)

2.309 (I'll be using this format from now on for updates.) ADDED: PP of attacks is now automatically filled in for you, and adjusts properly to PP ups. FIXED: The backup file that can be created when saving a save file wasn't being written properly. FIXED: "Male" in the original trainer is now selected by default again. FIXED: (Really this time...) Pokemon icons in ALL SLOTS will be updated appropriately now. CHANGE: Some more code was changed to provide a little more speedup on startup. Again, I can't really notice a difference. Loading of all of these strings into the comboboxes is just slow, and there's no faster way to do it that I'm aware of.

Wow, how annoying. I'll make sure it's absolutely fixed EVERYWHERE before this next upload. I've enjoyed making it. Thanks for the support and reports of problems.

Watch this be another Windows XP thing. I'll see if I can reproduce these problems. Edit: I can't get the icon problem to occur on Windows 7 or XP. Are you using 2.308? Edit2: There's definitely a problem with the backup file somehow. I'll look into it. Edit3: The backup problem is fixed. I'm not going to upload a new version just for that though, as it's not THAT big of a deal. It'll have to wait for more changes.

If you're editing a save file, you're not using codes, so nothing special has to be done in-game. The species you pick doesn't matter, they'll all work. However, the program is designed for use only with the US games in mind. It may work with others, but I haven't tested that and don't support it.

2.308 - Fixed typing in comboboxes (drop-down boxes) in Windows XP. It'll properly select the entry you type out now. - Fixed the "Generate shiny ID" button being enabled on startup when it shouldn't have been. - Fixed box Pokemon icons not updating properly when adding Pokemon. Sorry to those who JUST downloaded the last version. It has to be annoying sometimes.

It's coded to let you type, and only type, if you want to. The fact that it isn't working for you suggests that I've either done something wrong (which I can't find any evidence of) or you have something on your PC that's interfering with the normal operation of the control. I'm curious though, are you on an English version of Windows? Or do you have any sort of unusual language settings applied? Edit: Ok, it is in fact something that I've done wrong, apparently. I went and tried this on Windows XP and IT gives me the same problem you're describing. I'll find out what's going wrong and fix it. There aren't any tutorials or even detailed explanations as far as I know. It definitely needs some documentation beyond what's in the tooltips, but I've been quite lazy with that. The file you're looking for with Desmume ends in .dsv, and it's produced after saving your game.

I wouldn't have said what I did if it weren't the truth. The legality checker doesn't check a L O T of data.

There were some issues fairly recently that affect how Pokemon are generated. If you care about legality, you should update.

2.307 - Readded the "reset controls" feature from a while ago. It's (inappropriately) in the "Options" menu. I have some future plans for some redesigning that I'm going to wait on to put it in the proper place. - Fixed party Pokemon icons not updating when adding a new Pokemon. - The program should now start faster, but I'm not really sure if it's noticeable. - Changed the drag image location to be slightly above center on the mouse pointer's click spot. This just seemed more natural to me. Now if only I could get it to NOT be so translucent... - When saving a copy of a save file (save as), you can no longer select other games to save it as, since the program isn't capable of save file conversion between games.

I can probably get it into the next version. Most of the functionality is still there, I just forgot about readding it, to be honest.
