  2. 3.0.1 ADDED: Exporting of Mystery Gift codes. FIXED: The Mystery Gift dialog title wasn't using the correct string. (Found by mbruno.) FIXED: Automatic PID generation wasn't interpreting abilities properly. (Found by Usaraud.)
  3. Ok, that helped. The automatic PID generation was in fact doing it wrong. I'll upload a new version in a minute.
  4. It'd help if you could give examples of the Pokemon you used and the abilities you had set.
  5. I think I've seen this before with other programs. PokeGen isn't capable of causing the problem.
  6. I don't eat candles, hot or cold.
  7. This is pretty lacking at the moment. I'll add to it as I run into things I feel are suitable. Why are the nature/gender/shiny controls disabled? The PID determines gender/shininess. It also controls nature for generation 4. If you specify a PID, one won't be generated, and therefore the controls are useless. How many characters can my Pokemon nickname have? The game limits it to 10, due to using a "hidden" character at the end to indicate the end of the name. You can use 11, but it may have weird effects in game. Is PokeGen available for the Macintosh OS or Linux? No. It never will be. You can use software like Wine to run it on these operating systems, however. Wine and similar software will not work for 4.0 and higher. Can PokeGen be used on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, or 2000? No. Windows XP or newer is required. My Pokemon won't work on WiFi battles. Why? This is usually a Pokemon validity issue. (As in you did something wrong.) These problems aren't dealt with here. Why won't Mystery Gift codes work on Black, White, Black 2, or White 2? See the troubleshooting section below. What are Wonder Card "used IDs"? Every Wonder Card has a unique ID associated with it. When you receive a Wonder Card by normal means, the game flags your save file as having obtained the card and doesn't allow it to be obtained again if it's a one-time card. Do I need to set the used IDs for cards I've obtained? No. The game will function normally without them being set. Not having them set will make it possible to determine that your save file has been modified, however. Why can't I export PGT files? (generation 4 so-called "gifts") This format should never have existed, and therefore is only able to be opened, not saved, in PokeGen. (And only because the files already exist. I can't do anything about that.) How does "To Tabs" in the Mystery Gift dialog work? It's only available for full cards in generation 4 that have a Pokemon within them. It displays the raw data. There's no PID generation done. Some location data is shuffled around to display it more accurately, however. You should not use this Pokemon data directly. They will not look like they came from the card. I'm using a flash card (R4, Acekard, whatever) and my save file isn't able to be loaded, or has bad eggs in random places. What's going wrong? Make sure the flash card is saving data in 4 megabit format. 2 megabits is wrong and will probably have mangled data. How do I edit existing items? Click to select the item, wait a very short time, then click it again and wait for the combobox to appear. This works identically to renaming a file. You can also use this same method to edit the item count. Troubleshooting Mystery Gift codes not working for Black, White, Black 2, or White 2 Note: These codes will not work for the non-Japanese versions of Black 2 or White 2 until PokeGen 4.0 is released. Use the following checklist: You only have one enabled Wonder Card code at a time. The target game, that is, Options > Target game, is set to the correct game(s). The code generator dialog has the correct game selected. You're selecting the desired Wonder Card slot from the code generator dialog drop-down list. You're attempting to activate the code after loading your save file in-game. You're activating the code with the buttons you selected in the code generator dialog. You're then opening the in-game menu, as in the menu where the save button is. If you were already in a Pokemon center and the delivery NPC isn't there, you need to leave and re-enter. Loading a DeSmuMe save state (*.dst) or battery file (*.dsv) doesn't work or won't save properly Because of recent DeSmuMe updates and old code in Pokegen, please use File -> Import/Export Backup Memory in DeSmuMe to import/export a raw save from your game.
  8. Here it is. Mystery Gift support. I won't claim it's bug free, but pretty thorough testing was done. For generation 5 codes, you have to press the activation button in-game, then open the X menu. Opening the menu is what triggers the card being written. Edit: Sorry, the files weren't uploaded to the correct place initially. 3.0.0 ADDED/FIXED: Controls weren't displaying all of the text from various languages if they were longer than English. A major new system was put in place to reorganize controls based on the widths of the text they contain, so that everything is readable. Drakul, the person who did the French translation, abbreviated quite a few things, so it still looks bad. If you can fix this, please do so and post in the Translations thread. ADDED: Mystery Gift support. Editing isn't possible, however. FIXED: Activation button text for left, right, up, and down wasn't using the localized text. FIXED: Switching languages wasn't updating window titles properly. FIXED: The hatch location list wasn't being updated during language switches. FIXED: The features list in the Pokédex dialog wasn't being updated during language switches. FIXED: The gender and form lists in the Pokédex dialog weren't being updated during language switches. FIXED: The Code Generator dialog had focus issues. FIXED: Switching languages after loading a file would cause the language menu to disable everything but English. CHANGED: The buttons on the main dialog below the icons that affect all box Pokémon have been moved to the icon right click menu. CHANGED: The "Right click" text has been removed from the icons, regardless of the help setting. It's been there long enough. CHANGED: Switching the target game with a save file loaded will now unload the save file. You're asked if you want to accept this before it occurs. Unloading of the save file will remove all Pokémon currently in the slots, and if a switch between two generations of games occurs, Mystery Gift data will also be removed.

    Target game

That only occurs if you load a file from a generation different from the target game. Yes, but there are no reliable ways. You can only do stuff like checking the origin. Then if someone has a file that has an origin that doesn't match the data, they're screwed without the ability to manually change the target game. I wasn't advocating the removal of the target game option, btw.

    Target game

Please vote in the poll above and explain why if you choose yes. Being able to switch the target game with a save file loaded can cause some issues, and is affecting some things with Mystery Gift support. I'd like to do something about it, but the results of this poll will give me some insight into whether or not I should.

    Next major feature

It's possible that there could be some unintended effects from the code, but I'm quite sure there won't be any problems. Regardless, should anything be reported, it's not like it can't be fixed.

Mystery Gift support is nearing completion (probably a few days), however, something disappointing has been discovered. It's fairly unlikely that it'll be possible to generate codes for generation 5 Wonder Cards. This is because the data is encrypted, and the AR hardware doesn't provide a means of performing the necessary calculations to encrypt it via codes. There are some pretty "hacky" ways to potentially do it, which I'll be looking into, but I'm not optimistic. It's also possible that the data is stored unencrypted somewhere that's actually re-copied to the save file before a save occurs. If such a place exists, that would make the process easy, but I don't know yet. Edit: Attempts to find a place in memory where the data is unencrypted and copied to the save file have failed. Edit2: After way, way too much time, a hacky solution has been successful. Code support will be possible for Black/White.
  13. Take a look at the combobox right above the code list after you generate them. Note that there's a different code for each individual Pokemon.
  14. This turned out to be a problem with network filtering DLLs on Woodchuck's PC as far as I can tell, for anyone reading. It doesn't appear that PokeGen was at fault.
  15. (Taking this to PMs for testing.)
  16. When a program crashes, it often produces something similar to the following: This is the information that would be helpful.
  17. Can you provide the error details?
  18. Guested wins. Also, regarding the tooltip, sigh, there are tons of things that could be added to a lot of them, it's just a matter of what I want to focus on. Currently, that's not tooltips. Translations also make tooltip modification annoying.
  19. That's what I thought. I'm pretty confident nothing like that will ever be added. (Regarding generating all 649 Pokemon, that is.) A way to use presets might happen, but there's no telling when.
  20. No. What do you mean by "all the Pokemon" though?

    Yes, that's effortless as well.

It's definitely going to be Mystery Gift support next. However, I've decided that for now, it's only going to be for inserting them into save files and generating codes for them, not editing of the data. I don't see the point in editing them.
  23. It won't make any difference. Forms are simply a value in the Pokemon data that can be set to anything from 0 to 255. For Pokemon without multiple forms, the value is ignored. If these new things are in fact forms, it'll be no different.
