I actually ran one of these events and they had me take the cartridge and system home to test it by trading with my own game the night before! If I had any idea how rare these cartridges would be some day, it might have gone "missing" after the event, lol. It was amazing what some of those kids were willing to trade away to get their Mew. We kept telling them to catch an extra Rattata or Pidgey to trade, but some kids were trading fully evolved and legendary pokemon. I'm really not surprised if this was a legit event cart. Some TRU are not known for returning those event carts and systems in a timely manner, if at all. I remember having a DS with a Platinum/Diamond event cart sitting in a box in the managers office for months after one of those in-store download events.4 points

I don't think the GB has to be reset to write to the cart. For all the GB figures, the cart was never removed! Or it's set up to soft reset each time and reinitialize the slave rom. Regarding randomization, that is not the issue. The question is about OTN and moves.2 points

2 independent sources own 10 anniv / aurora ticket carts and dumped their roms. I compared them and they were the same to each other (respectively). While It is possible someone got a fake copy, this was at a time before it was public. Both source thought they were the only ones with the physical cart. I asked @Bond697 about those 12 bytes and he pointed me to a site outlying rom section formats for the GBA dev kit. And iirc that field was described as an identifier. I can see the confusion in thinking it could be a hardware or serial identifier, but that is not what that means. If I am remembering correctly it was a code section identifier or something like that. You have to also think about the manufacturing process. If only a few are made, you can't just swap the roms out mid-production. But if you make let's say 1500 for best buy, and 2000 for toys r us, then maybe you will tag it for each company. MAYBE. Usually it is too expensive to do even that.2 points

(Sorry this post is off topic. I don't like making claims I can't back up with proof.)2 points

The fan servers require a patched ROM or AR code... Which IMO defeats the purpose of needing a fake GTS. For the record I ran The Global Terminal, a distribution server (and hack checker). What memories!2 points

This is a Japanese Pokemon Ruby save file that I scanned my "Decoration present" E-reader card on to get the Regi Dolls in my save, using official hardware. I discovered that it was possible to use the decoration trader NPC to trade secret base decorations between games to get every secret base decoration in the English games. (Or any language, I just happen to be in North America.) To get the decoration trader NPC into your game (Without mixing records), your ID needs to end in a 4 or a 5. Alternatively, if you don't have him and you need him. It would be a simple task to create new save files until you get the correct ID, play through the game and mix records to send him to your desired cart. I've included an insulting diagram on how to get the regi dolls from the Japanese Ruby to the non-JP Emerald with the least amount of record mixing needed, assuming all 3 saves have a decoration trader.1 point -
You have to use the encryptSaveSlotAndUpdateChecksums function. I made a quick modification of the tool, the functionality is still similar but now it aks the user if he wants to decrypt or encrypt. When decrypting it reads PbrSaveData and decrypts it to PbrSaveData_decrypted_current and PbrSaveData_decrypted_backup. When encrypting it reads PbrSaveData_decrypted_current and PbrSaveData_decrypted_backup and encrypts it to PbrSaveData. Be sure those files are always present in the tools directory and also keep backups just in case! Source pbrsavetool.zip1 point

@Purin, If the distribution carts were loaded in-house (literally at the office with a dev kit), then it would make sense to have multiple identifiers, but not all will be unique. That is because they would have compiled the ROM on each computer using the dev kit, which makes a specific build identifier, and used that to load the carts. With 3-5 PCs, you can load 500+ carts in a few hours and you would have 3-5 separate identifiers. Still not traceable though. Engineers are notoriously lazy too (personal experience here with myself too). They delete files they don't want anymore. They don't migrate files to new PCs cause they don't want to deal with legacy stuff. They throw projects onto tape drives and literally store them in a closet to rot. And they never keep track of their own code let alone project builds. And back in 2003 I doubt they used control systems for compiled ROMs. Code maybe (CVS), but not ROMs. There is LOTS of evidence (especially in the code) that the distribution carts were the worst hack job in the world. They didn't even test them thoroughly. Literally some junior copy/pasted some code they found. redeemed a single pokemon and declared victory. Even in 2005/2006, a late mew distribution used jirachi code and mew code together, despite having the aura mew code available. Probably because the guy making the standard library (gcea/misturin/10 aniv/etc) was not the same guy who was asked to make the other mew. So the guy used legacy code he found somewhere from 2003, most likely the ruby debug commands (as we know mystry mew also uses old as shit generation).1 point

Not quite simply a non-colored version, the head and eyes are both noticeably more rounded. But still obviously an early version of the Gold sprite. Speaking of that, we know the most obvious internals of the Mew/Celebi machines is likely a Super Nintendo/Famicom(see controller, SGB border), with a Super Game Boy 2(see border, and apparent link cable use), which contains the actual distribution cart. Which all apparently connects to a GameBoy on the end you'd stick your personal cart, as in one photo you can see what looks to be a GBP/GBC. What I don't understand is how carts were inserted and removed without the GameBoy needing to be shut on and off each time, since there's no multiboot function. I know it's impossible to say for sure, but I was always interested in theorizing exactly how these worked.1 point

Ok here's most of the missing ones from gen4 (except 2/3 from HGSS I can't share and 1 in DP I don't have yet). I was thinking of release most of my gen5 collection as prize for lv25 RSE Safari Seaking and most of my gen7 collection as prize for BW lv35 Walrein. They are hard to find (1/600 and 1/720) but not impossible. Good luck ^^ Pporg.rar1 point

Thank you. I had hope that Pokécheck still existed. It looked wonderful, though most pokémon were hacked. At least, those kinds of websites should have some option to trade pokémon with yourself, so you could evolve pokémon which only evolve by trading, since Pokébank doesn't allow you to do that.1 point

@theSLAYER YouTube! Fame! and I'm on 11.3. No Homebrew,Luma,Sky3ds, or anything else EVER done. (Except Powersaves, which only deals with the cart. And only because, "I weally wanted shiny Pokemons pwease.") This is my first time. I need help please. I'm NOT kidding. I've spent nights and days for over half a year trying to do this... ;-; halp me.... Will NTRboot work? If so,could you please link a guide?(Again, I'm vanilla. Yes, laugh in my face because you people are impeccable hackers. :/. Yeah, don't do that. xD *sigh* :3 be nice,be happy) Yesterday was my birthday!1 point

@ReignOfComputer Good point. I think what @Swadloon is getting at is a downloading and uploading site like Porybox. (You post the .pkm7 or .WC7 or .WC7Full files for ex.) Except where you can actually see the files. That sounds so cool... Maybe I could make a site like that with you? @ReignOfComputer , at least consider it please. It sounds so cool. Or ... REVIVE THE OLD THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND POST A NEW ONE!!!!!1 point

My friend bought a Fire Red cart with a bunch of Japanese gen 3 event Pokémon that I donated to the gen 3 preservation project. A while back, I bought 12 different gen 3 carts and the most interesting things I found were some shiny Pokémon. Our best bet (Besides old magezines) is to find blog posts or Japanese fan sites. Though YouTube videos help as well. Since it was only semi recently discovered that the Marine ribbon was given to Japanese tournament winners in gen 3.1 point

I appreciate you attempting to collect all known information for this thread. It's always been very hard to find information on Japanese Gen 1 and Gen 2 events. Bulbapedia has very bare and incomplete info, but understandably so.1 point

I too want to vouch for @Deoxyz, whom has been contributing to us throughout these years. I am concerned about the fact that there's an untouched mew cart lying around (it could easily be cloned save, and the other save has been touched all over, but that's not the point here). In any case, I'm glad the verification checked out1 point

@Kaphotics What about the fan servers? (Psst. @Swadloon ) https://github.com/polaris-/dwc_network_server_emulator Also, @theSLAYER There are some French Gen. V Files on that page so I AM contributing. (I'm also being useful. Gee whiz, I feel like N now. N:An obedient, naive, unknowing, childlike, cute persona.)1 point

On a different note: adblocker interstition notice requires JavaScript to go through this (CSS magic should also help, or just display them all at once) hosted on some shared host that actually blacklisted one of the IPs I tried accessing it from question 3 shows a Latios, which isn't even a flying type Did I accidentally walk into some really postmodern spam?1 point

For Gen 2, I claimed a celebi myself. I stuck my cart into a huge machine. It showed me a pic of Celebi and then displayed successful. I took the cart out and had celebi. I THINK we had to have a party slot available. I bet there are others who can confirm since this was so long ago. I also do not remember pressing any buttons. I don't remember anything about the machine, sorry.1 point
