  2. The website on the outer surface was quite "friendly" and "less serious" and more casual back in the early days, but I guess this site became more specialised in the research area, so it calls for a more professional outlook on things. It is not a bad thing to be serious I think, especially if it helps the main part of this website's function. That being said, I could not take myself serious at all if I came about saying XD LAWL or whatever lingo that comes up these days, if that is what you mean by being "less serious". I do not know what you really mean by it though, but I think that is what you mean. Maybe I was more like that in the past, but times change. On a personal level some of us can be more relaxed than you would think they are. But in actual forums post, it serves little to no purpose to say things you would say on your normal chatting medium. It does not make us any less approachable though. Before the forum interface changed, I had like some crazy number of visitor message posts on my wall, interactions with many people here, and many came and went. And the one thing I cannot stand in any case is just sheer stupidity, and we did not have a shortage of that. No need to throw wood into the fire or cast pearls unto swines, I say. So it calls for no nonsense in the end. I could always have a friendly exchange with anyone, or even trade/battle Pokemon on the Wifi, and I have no problem with that. In fact, I thought over the past few years we were somewhat lacking that kind of interaction we had in the early days. But I say in the end, being serious is proper on the boards, and I personally feel this board has relaxed since the past few years too. As long as it is not something like this: I think I am fine, or I will end up infracting you for spam. There. That is my sixpence involving this matter. Jolly good.

  8. To me, Project Pokémon is, first and foremost, a community about researching Pokémon and collecting events. There's nothing to be gained from joking answers when someone asks a question about how some game mechanic works; it's annoying at best and causes actual confusion at worst. The tone of the forums matches the nature of the topics at hand. Additionally, I understand if you feel that staff are being a tad too professional, but excessive friendliness may also be very uncomfortable. That feeling of uncomfortableness may expand rapidly into the territory of feeling sexually harrassed as well; people can and will be easily offended or feel sexually harrassed. The less opportunities for that to happen, the better, I'd argue. I believe I speak for everybody if I say that avoiding insinuations of sexual harrassment, justified or not, should be a priority of all staff members. That aside, not choosing a serious tone carries the risk of the message not to reach the recipient because they think they needn't take the message seriously. I find the recent trend of corporations and other groups to be faux-friendly rather annoying. A prime example is Discord Inc., who seem to feel the need to add memes to everything. The latest corporate blog post was written by Nelly, "Chief Robot Hamster. Eater of cheeses. Maker of boops." I believe it's rather obvious that this trend becomes quite tiresome after some time. I am absolutely not just a bitter old man who's become so much of a cynic that people having fun around him annoys him already.

  9. GF legality checker almost doesn't exist. PKHeX Legality checker is based on our community's YEARS-worth of knowledge regarding game mechanics and RNG, all neatly jam-packed into one program.

  10. Just because GF's legality checks are lacking, doesn't mean those were naturally possible

  11. PKHeX improves over time; just because something was(nt) flagged in a prior version doesn't mean that the program was correct. PKHeX's Reroll button does not create valid PIDIV types (it's pure random). The program only randomizes to keep Nature/Gender/Form values the same, as PIDIV combos are limited. It is left to the user to provide legal data, if they so wish.

  12. PokeGen is now maintained by Mat. Current version: 3.1.13 <-- THIS IS A LINK, SINCE PEOPLE DON'T GET IT Be sure to always keep backups of your save files prior to editing. I'm not perfect, mistakes can exist in the program still. This program can be used for Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 for the following tasks: Generating Action Replay codes to create Pokemon, modify the Pokedex, and add Mystery Gift data, including exporting to an XML file that can be dragged to the Action Replay code manager Loading and saving of save files. Pokemon data and Pokedex data can be fully modified. Loading and saving of party and PC .pkm files (136, 220, and 236 byte, encrypted and unencrypted) Adding Wonder Cards to save files Conversion of Action Replay codes into Pokemon information (This is limited.) Finding a PID to match IVs, nature, gender, ability, shininess, and hidden power type/power - with variable IVs Recalculating save file checksums Editing items Editing C-Gear background images Most of what you need to know to use the program is self-explanatory. However, there are now tooltips explaining just about everything in it. There are some things that aren't quite covered though: Windows XP or newer is required. (However, it does run without issues on "emulated" Windows programs for Mac OS and Linux.) (This is only applicable to generation 4 games, and maybe not even HG/SS.) Using codes for party Pokemon can sometimes cause bad eggs upon activating the code. You can just activate it again and it should fix the problem. (You can check the summary after activating each time to see if it's fixed, or just close the party display and re-open it.) I don't think there's any way around this. As far as I know, this has no negative effect on the game when you save, as long as you don't save it with a bad egg. (I'm not even sure if saving with a bad egg would be harmful, but there's no reason to do so.) Pokemon can be dragged around amongst party/box slots. .pkm files can be dragged into and from party/box slots. You can associate compatible files (save files, .pkm files, etc) with PokeGen to be able to easily load them from Explorer windows. Holding alt and clicking a Pokemon icon will display that Pokemon's information instead of requiring you to right click and "View data". Holding shift + alt and clicking a Pokemon icon will set the slot's data with the tab's data. Obviously this is equivalent to right clicking and selecting "Set". If you don't want to receive updates to certain languages, delete the corresponding language file. If you can't figure out how to do something, read the tooltips. For those that don't know, tooltips are an informative message that gets displayed when you stop your mouse pointer over a control (editbox, dropdown box, button, etc) for a short period of time. There's also the questions and answers thread that's being updated occasionally. Note the date on posts in this thread if you're reading through it. There were many changes to the program since its initial release, including a rename, removal of generation 3 support, and other major redesigns. Also, this thread used to be the only way to post feedback/bugs for the program, prior to a forum section being made. That's why it has tons of posts when it's a locked thread.
