  1. To add to my original post, I tried just dragging and dropping the 3 E Card Pokémon files into the PC Box on XD, and they show up in the box, but as I mentioned before, they seem to mess up my save file. I also tried using the 'Open' function on PKHex for each of the files and that did not work either.
  2. Here's the Source Also @StarsMmd found the 21st card data but we're unable to read it for now, is there any e-reader specialist here? card21.bin
  3. That exactly what @StarsMmd is trying to do with Dolphin. But it's hard to emulate e-reader I guess. Here the first card bin. Maybe you will be luckier. card01.bin

This is a Japanese Pokemon Ruby save file that I scanned my "Decoration present" E-reader card on to get the Regi Dolls in my save, using official hardware. I discovered that it was possible to use the decoration trader NPC to trade secret base decorations between games to get every secret base decoration in the English games. (Or any language, I just happen to be in North America.) To get the decoration trader NPC into your game (Without mixing records), your ID needs to end in a 4 or a 5. Alternatively, if you don't have him and you need him. It would be a simple task to create new save files until you get the correct ID, play through the game and mix records to send him to your desired cart. I've included an insulting diagram on how to get the regi dolls from the Japanese Ruby to the non-JP Emerald with the least amount of record mixing needed, assuming all 3 saves have a decoration trader.
  5. To preface this: I think the video below is a great video, and it is pretty informative. However, people who do not know how to achieve ACE on Emerald may lose out. Anyhow, people would likely wonder/worry about how the event has not been known, or ask other questions about it. The point of this thread is to cover what is known regarding this Pichu event. (it's not about ACE) Video in question: Before I explain what this Pichu is, I need to do a brief explanation of WC3. Brief explanation of WC3 (for FRLG and E): Split WC3 sections: Wonder card data (wonder card text and checksum and other settings) and the wonder card script. [more detailed technical breakdown here] The wonder card script literally controls what the delivery person says, what flags get set, and what the delivery person gives. When the debugging versions of the games leaked, it was discovered that certain debugging wonder cards (such as Old Sea Map, Aurora Ticket, Altering Cave, a Pichu egg etc) were stored in the debugging game. It was also discovered that in the games, the wonder card script is stored separately from the wonder card header. (It was later discovered that the debugging games have a local distribution mode. The wonder cards can be found here) So what is this Pichu? 1) First angle of attack at the problem. Using the dialogue that the hipster-delivery person hybrid spoke, I was able to find the egg Pichu script. (just in case you wanna try it for yourself, be aware that Gen 3 text uses the character encoding) I compared the Pichu Egg script found in the final game, against the Pichu Egg script for debug wonder card (for Emerald). The image below is the comparison. Left data is script from the debugging wonder card, right data is the Pichu egg script taken from ENG Emerald game. Note: offset is 0x674D3D of Final game (ENG), 0x3E4 in size. Besides the offset pointers being different, the rest of the script are almost mostly the same. (If you're curious on how to identify offset pointers, it's B8 XX XX XX 08. For example, in the data of the right, it's B8 3D 4D 64 08. When you account for endianness, it points to 0x674D3D, as mentioned above) 2) Second angle of attack at the problem. The video linked to a pastebin with the relevant codes (useful if you wanna try it out). Comparing to the pastebin (https://pastebin.com/dFLaf2TB), if we ignore the 8 in that highlighted value below (could just be RAM address or something; I imagine ROM data is stored in RAM starting from 0x8000000) You can see that the highlighted value is the same value as the offset I found in (1) [this means the data I found is indeed the correct data] Conclusion/TL;DR: The Pichu Egg is merely a leftover script of a wonder card that was in the debugging versions of the game. There are other scripts that were leftover, such as changing the species in Altering Cave, getting Old Sea Map, getting Aurora Ticket, getting Mystic Ticket etc.
  6. These are just files that are related to the line art in Pokémon Channel if I remember right. Kinda what the Card-e data is, too. Nothing to see here, I think.
  7. @namity As it's been a few months, I'm not sure if you've gotten an answer yet, but if you haven't, I've got one. The e-Reader + was only released in Japanese, so if you find it, it will always be in said language. I used Dolphin and VBA M for the whole process; the rom is online. Hope this helps. Also, thank you to everyone who discovered this and posted about it...my brother and I have long wondered about accessing the Card e Room in Colosseum, and we're glad to finally do it!
  8. Hi all, Like all of you, I was looking for a way to enable the Japan-exclusive shadow Pokémon trainers into my PAL/NTSC-U games. Thanks to javier_himura's efforts 4 years ago, I was able to create WiiRD/Gecko and Action Replay cheat codes that will inject the e-card data into Pokémon Colosseum. It is not possible to include this feature into a save file editor because the shadow trainer data is located at 1 specific location and will overwrite the data of any previous trainer. You can find the cheat codes and instructions at the following links: WiiRD/Gecko cheat codes for NTSC-U games WiiRD/Gecko cheat codes for PAL games Action Replay cheat codes for NTSC-U games Action Replay cheat codes for PAL games Enjoy!
  9. @HenboBaggins as opposed to following video tutorials, I say read one that we have. In any case, throw everything you think you've watched so far out the window. Here's an alternative take, if you're displeased with the one we already have: 1. Play game on 3DS, save twice in-game. 2. Enter JKSM, Refresh Titles/Refresh Games (if the option is there); This only needs to be done if game title doesn't appear. Note: I'm not sure if you trying to edit the e-shop version or cart, since you mentioned both, so I'm listing it as e-shop/cart version. Stay consistent with which option you choose. 3. Go to the e-shop/cart version (depending on which one you want to backup) 4. Export save (it dumps the save from e-shop/cart version), and give it a recognizable name. For this example, I'll be referring to it as My save 01 5. Open your SD card on your Computer 6. In the JKSM folder location for the game, copy the folder of My save 01 and paste it there. If you did that, it should show something like My save 01 - Copy 7. Open My save 01 - Copy 's main in PKHeX. Make a simple edit (give yourself Shiny Celebi, for example). 8. Export Sav in PKHeX, overwrite My save 01 - Copy's main. (note. the file MUST be called main. Make sure there's no other file in the folder.) 9. Re-insert SD card in your 3DS, open JKSM, Import Save back into e-shop/cart version With this: (i) You have a backup of an unedited save (My save 01) [can be imported back into the games at any time] (ii) You have a modified save (My save 01 - Copy) (iii) You have imported the modified save into e-shop/cart version. (iv) As a word of caution, never Export Save over an existing file. Thus, name a folder/create a new file. Also, in your next reply, if it doesn't work, specify what CFW you're on, and what's the entrypoint used to enter the CFW. Also show screenshot of what's in the folder for My save 01 - Copy
  10. So you're only interested the usage of custom sprites in-game right, nothing to do with trying to convert a e-reader card to usable game data or anything, right? If that is the case, the function you want relating to importing/extracting the sprite is documented in the source code: https://github.com/projectpokemon/Gen3-WCTool/blob/cc512ea396a35bc9d5d31401abb5a8976a9d4fca/WC3Tool/WC3/ECB.cs Tho as far as I can tell, all it does is import and export the data as is. There is no "convert PNG to data" segment. (and it's not like the program redraws the data to a PNG for you, hence probably why the function isn't there. There's a possibility that the way the game handles the data is the same way the game redraws other sprites from data; I can't imagine them creating a new unique subroutine just for it. If the way the game handles the data is indeed the same as any other data<-> onscreen sprite conversion the Pokemon gen 3 games use, maybe you could try this: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=208837
  11. Pokémon Emerald / FireRed / LeafGreen Japanese The American version works exactly like the Japanese, but I'll post pictures of the Japanese version anyway, because the American version is already possible to emulate the e-reader with VBA Link and .sav files 0 - We can do the same with the saves but this time only with Pokémon Emerald. Japanese and non-Japanese saves for FireRed and LeafGreen are not compatible 1 - Download the following saves already prepared for e-reader (it's on the download page <that was linked in the Foreword>, file name being Pokemon E-Reader Saves.rar) 2 - Open the emulator twice 3 - Load in the first emulator an Emerald/FR/LG ROM and an e-reader + JP ROM in the second emulator 4 - On the emulator with the e-reader ROM select File -> Import -> Battery File and select one of the downloaded saves, corresponding to the game that we are using and click OK. A third option will appear 5 - Pikachu appears. Press A and select a raw file for the e-reader, in this case Pokémon Emerald 6 - A Sandsdrew and 7 holes more will appear and the raw file selection will be open again. At this point you can select up to 8 different cards. If you want to load less than 8 just press cancel on the file selection, then press B and select the first option 7 - Select the third option of the first emulator and press A twice in the first emulator 8 - Then press A on the second emulator. The Sandshrew will the start to move up and down. If all went well the first emulator will restart, indicating that the data loaded properly 9 - Now the trainers will be available on the Trainer Hill. In this case you can't put back in the save in the English versions because the Trainer Hill is incompatible with e-reader and have fixed trainers
  12. Does anyone have a collection of e-Reader card trainers, as in the ect files to put into my Emerald game? Because i couldn't find any ?. Thanks!
  13. Searching for Shadow Loudred evidences in XD I found that card_meny.fsys in XD has 18 cards.bin inside. Does that mean E-cards for XD too? Also if you have any idea on how to force-load the Colosseum US 21st card you're welcome. And of course evidences on Shadow Loudred. I found the relivehall_menu.fsys but don't know where to search the tutorial mentionned in Bulbapedia/Glitchcity.
  14. There is no code. When you scan the Regioll e-Card it adds the doll directly into your storage.
  15. Thinking about R/S/E and the berry system patch, the e-berry and the special trainer, I'm thinking if there is a way to apply a patch in HG/SS installing it in the savegame, to use the patch with the retail games. A patch to fix 2 items with another usage, fix the Mahogany granny market, some texts and routines and door links. Could be possible? I have not made all these edits in my hack, but I'm curious to know if could be possible or if I must will need of a 3DS app to play the game with the patch or a patch trough the NDS 2-card slot.
  16. This tool is to inject the VPK data from e-Cards into the e-Reader save file so you could use it from the menu without scanning the cards. There are some e-Reader Development Tools made by caitsith2 which can be found here https://www.caitsith2.com/ereader/devtools.htm (source is available as well) I tried to translate the English Eon Ticket to Japanese a few years ago, it seems like the font is the big problem there. But I have no idea how to solve that.
  17. When you scan the regular E-reader cards, they eventually fill up the entire screen. I think the 2 promo cards are the only ones and they just used the original template from the regular E-reader cards.
  18. Version .

Out there in the wild, exists a German Language Debugger's/Developer's Edition of Pokemon Ruby Version, which contains many debugging tools, including Mystery Event distribution subroutines. Using the Mimic e-Card option in the Test Menu, the game emulates receiving an Eon Ticket, which is notably different from the standard one players get from an official distribution. [We will not distribute the Debug Ruby Rom, and it is against our rules to ask for it]
  19. When I try to force-load this trainer it gave me the team of the first trainer (2 Zigzagoon) in the game despite she speaks about her Hoondoom burning me. Is it a hint? Surely ^^ Maybe in the Japanese version ? Notes that I try with other trainers and they work for the moment. Edit: E-reader trainers are ID 8,9 and 209. There is no preloaded data which is a news. This can include unreleased E-trainer cards for example. There are also placeholders from 201 to 20C (except 209 which is an E-reader one). 231 too. Which means 12 cut trainers at least. Coincidence? I don't think so.
  20. e-Reader used Mystery Events, which is only available in Ruby, Sapphire and Japanese Emerald. Yet despite having the Mystery Events functionality, Japanese Emerald doesn't support the Japanese Battle-e+ cards, yet we can assume it was used for the Eon Ticket since Japan did get a distribution for Emerald (as well as a repeat for Ruby and Sapphire).
  21. I know. I have a video of it as well as I own the actual cards. I have a 100% complete Colosseum collection of E-reader cards. I'm an E-reader enthusiast.
  22. So, I've been screwing around with the Gen III Mystery Gift Tool that can be found here: Or, more specifically, the e-Reader Berry editor section of the program. The program lets you extract Berry images from an existing Berry file, but I've been trying to figure out just what kind of file format the Berry pictures use. The program doesn't give me any file extensions to work with, and I haven't seen any documentation about it online, which says a lot about either my searching skills or how much of a crap people online care about the e-Reader Berries. (Edit: According to the magical question mark in the program, the file format the sprites are exported in is supposed to be .gba. Who knew?) If anyone has any documentation on the file format, as well as how to convert an BMP/PNG into a e-Reader-compatible picture, I would very much appreciate it! Edit: So, I found the solution to my problem, but I'll document it here for posterity's sake. Firstly, you'll need Nameless Sprite Editor, which can be downloaded here: Afterwards, you need to extract the sprite from an existing ECB, and you need to give the sprite the .gba file extension. Then, open the .gba file with NSE, click Navigate, then input the values: Image offset: 20 Palette offset: 0 Width: 6 Height: 6 and then hit Open. From there, you can edit the sprite of the Berry into whatever you want. As far as I know, if you want to copy and paste a normal image like a BMP or a PNG, you can't do that, so you'll have to remake the sprite pixel by pixel. Of course, I've barely messed around with the program, and if the default program doesn't feature something like that, NSE has a plugin system that might add that functionality. After you're done, just save the .gba file you edited, and import it back into an ECB. I realize that this is kinda on me for not noticing something so obvious, but the fact that I could find anything about this on Google made me think I'd hit a dead end unless I consulted a forum like this. As such, partially to own up to my mistake, and partially because I don't know where the delete button is yet, I'll leave this post up for any confused passer-bys who want to know how to modify data relating to a game almost 20 years old that used to be stored on cards.
  23. I know but I can't remember which version of VBA I used and can't find it again. Yes for Secret Bases that could be cool. Will try to see if it can be easy done or not. I mean we have to extract first the Pokemon then maybe try to copy the trainer. @theSLAYER Well first we have to get them, those from FRLG are hard to get. Then maybe we should find a politics of the official gallery and this thread. I mean yes they're uncatchable but did people are really interested by them? Is it really Pokemon history as Demo or real uncatchables ones? Edit: For E-reader to gen 6 in fact it could be easy done with Ruby/Saphire cards if @suloku tool allow to extract the Pokemon. Here Ash Ketchum E-reader Card and Dragon Taimer Craig exemples.
  24. In my opinion it's closer to E-cards than Mystery Cards. It's an event that changes a routine which can be a Pokemon in a hidden grotto but can also be a Pokedex quizz or something else. Now the question is about the re-creation of that event which still need some researches. It'll be over 2 years of dead-road so I'm open to every try whatever it was the method which was really used or not. Think that @BlackShark's discovery was not digged enough for example too. It doesn"t make any sense to have the name of the missions and no data related. Cross check with regular mission or the Glameow one if there is some kind of link between the name and the Pokemon or item that spawned. Can't really help however, I spend most of my free time for Go underleved quest and this quest is for the moment beyond my abilities. Good luck to you @theSLAYERthis quest is one of the few remaining and it can have a huge impact if solved ^^
  25. My idea is make the Red chain a Berserk Gene key item replacing the Nugget in Cerulean water, that turns on or off a flag that can be read from the game to use the Spelon berry to works exactly like the old Berserk gene, a flag that turn off automatically when you enter into the union room or the linked battle frontier to avoid glitches if you fight against games that don't have the hacked item (and this is easy to do, you have only to add to clear the flag in the script to enter into) and I want to know where is the major difficulty, to do the Spelon Berry working like the Berserk Gene (have to be like Swagger) or working like it only if a flag is turned on? E-card berries replaced the placeholder Enigma Berry, Why a Spelon Berry couldn't be a "placeholder" to overwrite it only if a flag is set? Or maybe instead of a flag, The key item could do an e-berry like effect? Make the Spelon berry something like an e-berry? And erase the e-berry when you enter in the union room?
