  1. This kind of seems like it's all over the place. Some flaws: Nature? Grass Knot on Choice Band is going to be useful for Swampert and only Swampert. A more well rounded Jirachi set would be Trick Scarf. Basically, what you have except replace Band with Scarf, and Grassknot with Trick. What's the point in hitting Salamence for a lead Pokemon? I've never seen it in the top 10 leads on Shoddy, and I'm not sure if I've ever had a Wi-Fi battle with a Salamence lead. Replacing Ice Punch with Thunder Punch would be much better since it'll hit Gyarados AND Aerodactyl, both of which can run lead sets. Fire Punch is fine and dandy, though Jirachi needs to watch out for Metagross' Earthquake. And Metagross, besides it's Trick set, would HATE a Choice Scarf.
  2. It's not that they do it "right" or "wrong". It's just the anime doesn't operate the same as the games. Now there are some blatant obvious mistakes in the early episodes. But since about Hoenn, they've become very consistent with how battles work. Pikachu's attacks, for example, don't hurt ground types nowadays. And it's been shown in at least two circumstances that electric attacks on electric types will power up their own electric attacks. Pikachu was loaded up with electricity during a Hoenn Gym by Raikou robots, and then swept the gym leader's team. And in DP003, Paul says that he let Pikachu attack first so Elekid's Thunder would be more powerful. It also seems that accuracy isn't nearly as big of an issue in the anime. In a Hoenn episode, Nidoking and Nidoqueen used Dynamic Punch multiple times and never missed.
  3. Game mechanics don't necessarily work the same in the anime. Sometimes they're very close, entirely different, or non-existent.
  4. Or you can utilize a flashcart and your Platinum save file. Any further questions on Sav and Sav related issues should really be directed to the Sav Editing/Sav Editing Help forums.
  5. You pretty much don't. Roaming Pokemon are set once they start running, as far as nature and all that goes. Cress is slightly easier since it's just one; but soft resetting for shiny bird trio or regi trio or lake trio would be INSANE.
  6. Yeah, you can. Being immune to two of the most common types of attacks in the game gives Gengar a lot of chances to switch in (assuming that you haven't already let Gengar out...then you might want to use some caution) Ground due to levitate (most common in the game; fairly easy to predict) Fighting: Again, this typing is VERY common and pretty easy to predict. Normal: There's really only a handful of competitively viable Pokes that utilize normal type attacks that often. It's best use of being immune to normal is to block Rapid Spin. It probably doesn't want to come in on Starmie or Claydol's Rapid Spin, but it can handle Tentacruel and Donphan. And then a..."fourth" kind of immunity to Toxic and to Spikes. Now, of course, it can't survive much from STAB Neutral damage attacks, but any player with decent prediction can easily utilize Gengar. Levitate gives it a huge advantage over it's non-levitating Ghost counterparts.
  7. I'm just going to step in right now before this continues: Yes, there will be one. Nintendo, Gamefreak, and affiliated parties enjoy having day jobs. There's no information about Gen 5, thus, nothing to discuss. So with that said, no more Gen 5 discussion. Especially in the HG/SS forums. But if someone wants to make a thread about "oh noez Pokeymanz iz dying" or something like that....I dunno, take it to Pokemon General? Mainly because I don't mod that forum
  8. Really, the best I can do right now is be nit picky. Earthquake is better paired with Explosion on Metagross. If you want it to survive throughout the game, then Meteor Mash might be better due to the +atk possibility. But if it's going to go BOOM early on, Earthquake so you can knock around other Metagross and Heatran-switch ins. With no spinner, you'll have to be very careful on switching Zapdos in repeatedly. All that bulk will mean nothing if it has to come in a lot and doesn't get any time to roost. Finally, Tyranitar. While two STABs are appealing and probably get the best coverage as an individual Poke, as a team, you might want something more. Fire Punch can knock around Scizor but leaves you open to a bunch of others. Brick Break, Focus Punch or Superpower can hit Scizor for neutral damage and Heatran for SE. I could go on, but Tyranitar has a ton of moves to choose from. I think it can do a bit better by ditching Stone Edge for something else. Also, because Stone Edge has a low amount of PP. I also get a feeling that Zapdos and Gliscor are fulfilling similar roles, but I can't quite bring up enough thought to justify it. Maybe I'll edit this post with more later.
  9. In the episodes where stuff actually happens, it sure is a joy to watch. The early episodes are interesting (by early, I mean like the first 10) because the show is still finding it's footing. Team Rocket doesn't become comedic relief until like episode 7. Bill mentions crap about trading via your Pokedex which is promptly ignored for the rest of the anime. And the structure of meet COTD-battle-TR crap-battle-farewel isn't totally set in stone. But after the first 10 or so episodes, there's so much filler between gym battles (because Ash captured basically the first 6 Pokemon he saw) and the League that it becomes quite a drag.
  10. Closing since this is fairly outdated. I'll leave it viewable so people can have a reasonable amount of time to copy/paste their lists and what not.
  11. This is like a mixture of asking for battles and trades, so I'm closing this, since it was probably made before the trading and battling forums were seperated. However, I won't delete it, at least for now. That'll let you people who posted event lists to copy/paste them to your HD or something like that.
  12. We've already got a few threads discussing the tournament. We don't really need a "help me find a room mate" thread. That's what friends and family are for.
  13. Only on Shoddy and local DS-to-DS wireless. They don't work in the Battle Tower and the Wi-Fi environments.
  14. Even so, that's just the name. The differences between two versions are relatively minor and mostly, if not completely, are just about version exclusives. I don't see how one is more main than the other when they both have the same game with the same plot with just a different selection of Pokes.
  15. I marathoned through Kanto and Orange about a year ago and couldn't stand most of them. Horrible animation (which unfortunately still isn't perfect still), 4kids censorship, and so much more made it a show that doesn't age well. In contrast, I'm greatly enjoying the current Sinnoh stuff. The Pokemon, the supporting characters, everything about it is great. And there's been very few filler episodes, and most of them have been pretty good. The only dissapointment has been the movies, which still pretty much suck.
  16. Bad Eggs are strictly a result in transfer errors. A completely legit Pokemon can be turned into a bad egg. However, the system also checks for illegal EVs. It may check for more (the Wi-Fi checker surely does), but I'm not 100% sure.
  17. If you've already checked, then you know the answer.
  18. Honestly, they could've chosen a worse nature.
  19. Check the event list on the site.
  20. Let's simmer down with the arguing guys. At least try to stay civil. Maybe a bit more than a one line post? And don't say "I heard" or whatever unless you can back it up...in which case, PP and Serebii and probbly every other game website has already posted it on their front page.
  21. Okay, I'm locking this, since the OP hasn't posted in this thread in quite some time, and other users are basically using it as their own trade thread. Feel free to continue your trade discussions either via PM/VM or in your own thread.
  22. It was "shut down" because PP is a new site. Now the forums let you upload files, including PKM files and all that good stuff. If you need a dime-a-dozen fan made event, it's probably somewhere in the Pokemon Requests forum.
  23. I can hand out a legally generated one from the Wonder Card. I also did go to the event myself, but that one is staying with me. PM me with AIM, MSN, or Yahoo screen name and we'll get in touch. I'm also in ProjectPokemon's chat or Serebii's Battle/Trade chat under randomspot555
  24. It's still there. http://projectpokemon.org/games/mechanics.php?m=shinyprevention
