  1. I am going to settle this immediately and transparently. We try to go through all ROM hacks (file uploads in general really) regularly and remove all content that does not conform to our rules. Why do we have these rules? It is simple. We are trying to NOT be targeted by the copyright holders of Nintendo, Pokemon, and other products/brands. We do NOT want our website shut down like countless others for stupid reasons. If it suited them, they could shut us down for having pokemon in our domain name, so uploading copyright material is just icing on the cake. We will not put ourselves in a position where we have to defend ourselves over something like this. This is a website full of hacking material, so we are most likely skirting some legal boundaries as-is. I am not going to sit here and say that the patch tools available are the best (or even work) because they probably aren't. I wish I was into ROM hacks, cause then I would put forth effort to build a better tool for everyone, but that is not the case and I am sorry. So let's find people who like ROM hacks, know how to build the tools that we need, are willing to help and let's build better tools so all of us can stop thinking about copyright stuff and breaking rules accidentally. We will host and endorse whatever tools work and fit within the legal parameters we have to operate under. I can also assure all of you that we are not personally targeting anyone. We do not have an agenda or anything, so I am sorry if you feel that way. The moderators were told by me and other owners that they must help keep this place running legally since other sites were shut down for stupid reasons (like using the Pokemon logo in a ROM hack). @Foxfire94 and others, if you haven't already, please use the report button to let us know of material that should be taken down. Reported content is acted on quicker than our mods scouring the board/files area. Thank you for trying to help.

  2. You're right that it's unprofessional to delete criticism, but the posts that were deleted weren't exactly professional themselves, so I'm not going to unhide them. However, I've created a thread that I believe addresses most of the legitimate concerns that were brought up: If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, please create a thread in the Feedback forum. Because this thread is about Nightmare Moon and Reaper Sun, we will remove any new posts that are off-topic.

  3. Hold on you forgot Berries distrib in Japan in January. I also suspect a new Pokebank distrib in the upcoming year. Maybe the 2 missing Tapus but that's a speculation here. I don't think gen7 is totally dead, especially because of VGC using USUM.

  4. Since our site was founded, we at Project Pokemon have asked that people distribute ROM hacks using patches (such as IPS or XDelta), and not by directly distributing modified ROMs, not even individual files within them. This is because copyright law prohibits the distribution of copyrighted works, bringing stiff penalties for anyone who does so anyway. Using patches, it is possible to only distribute the modifications and not the copyrighted bits. This worked nicely for GBA and NDS games, because all GBA and NDS roms are essentially identical to each other (mostly), regardless of how they are dumped. Things got more complicated with 3DS games, however. There are a variety of different formats for 3DS ROMs that don't always store the exact same information, so traditional patching methods won't work. Some people made patches for just the romfs and exefs portions of ROMs, which for the most part works, but is rather inconvenient for the end user. That's when I created the DS ROM Patcher, an easy-to-use tool designed to make this whole process simpler. Using this tool, an easy-to-use zip file contains all the tools and patches needed to use a ROM hack. It accepts decrypted ROMs in a variety of formats, and can output ROMs in a variety of formats. As the 3DS hacking scene progressed, eventually LayeredFS was invented, and it became possible to just distribute all the modified files in an easy to use zip file without the need for additional tools. While this is undoubtedly the most convenient way to use ROM hacks, it's not exactly the most legal. Copyright law not only prohibits distributing copyrighted works, but it also forbids distributing portions of these works too. For some 3DS games it may not be an issue, as a single small file can be replaced rather easily, but most ROM hacks distributed on this site are for the mainline Pokemon games developed by Game Freak. Instead of containing individual files, these games contain obfuscated archives each containing hundreds of smaller files. When using LayeredFS, changing even one of the files within requires distributing the entire archive. Changing several files from across different archives results in needing to distribute a significant portion of the original ROM, and with each file it steps closer and closer to distributing the whole ROM. Because distributing entire ROMs has always been against the rules at our site, we decided to not allow hacks to be distributed in this way any longer. We have deleted links to ROM hacks that were already distributed this way, but because of the widespread use, no one will get any closer to a ban unless they do so after having been directly told. We are not banning 3DS ROM hacks, as there are still legal ways to distribute them, like the DS ROM Patcher. No one is required to use this tool (if you have an alternative, I encourage you to bring it up), but no one is allowed to distribute whole modified files as is commonly done with LayeredFS. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, please create a thread in the Feedback forum or send me a private message. If anyone has any concerns about my tool, the DS ROM Patcher, please let me know here.

  5. Lets Go only uses Serial Code now so far. So we will see them in whatever capacity they decide to do events. EDIT: @theSLAYER seems to think there will be local wireless. Let's see. Also I am ignoring Internet (No code Wifi) gifts cause obviously that is there.

  6. Regarding the tools we have on our site I am sorry if it is painful or time consuming to use. I implore you or others to make a 3DS HB/CFW app so it can be done with a single touch. We will gladly link/back-link/host and even do automated builds against such a project. Short of that there is not much else we can do without legal liability. EDIT: If an all-3DS app is too slow, then an app that communicates OTA with a PC could work. Either use the CIA/Card on the 3DS and wait, or a self supplied ROM on the PC. Have the app create the layereFS files and send/config them all in a single go. There are options, but the ROM hacking enthusiasts will have to build it.

  7. If you don’t follow the rules and don’t understand why those rules are in place, find another medium. Deal with it.

  8. Erm, while I can see where your sentiment on "running away from the problem" came from, maybe it was deleted because your original response wasn't constructive criticism, but was likened to baseless slander? I don't know the reasoning behind it's deletion, so I can't answer you regarding that (I'm clearly not a mind reader); I wasn't the one that deleted those responses (if it wasn't clear). Still, I got to stand by the person who deleted it. The responses above doesn't seem professional, civil nor mature to me. In any case, yeah, I am waiting for the stuff to be re-uploaded. I don't see any reason for them not to be. I don't play rom hacks but I understand why other people enjoy them, so yeah, I would like it if people uploaded files that don't break the rules. (The rules regarding roms has always been there, it's not something new) If you think it is a hassle to use another tool (and rather use rom files), and prefer not re-upload it cause it's troublesome, then I won't force your hand.

  9. Done @theSLAYER Another thing that could be cool is to upload Red's team from Let's GO but I don't know if tools already exist for that.

  10. When playing normally, the maximum level that wild pokemon appear at is your trainer level. (Not counting weather boost, which adds 5 levels after all other factors are considered) The maximum level you can power up Pokemon to is your trainer level +2 That's why I guessed that the level traded pokemon get rounded down to would be one of those two numbers. I haven't actually tested it however. I've seen things get their levels reduced but not paid attention to the exact levels involved

  11. The ??? mechanic is hard to understand, it's definitely not just 'this Pokemon has a higher level than your account'. I've repeatedly gotten ??? on level one Pokemon that had high CP It might be 'this Pokemon has a higher CP than anything you have caught' or something uncessarily complicated as Pogo is wont to do I've never actually tried out the 'trade a Pokemon to a level 10 account' idea so it could be that it never actually worked that way and my information was incomplete. What I have done, and was basing my assumption on was trading things from level 40 accounts to accounts at say, level 20 or 30, which definitely did reduce the level for the recipient. Maybe it only rounds things down if the starting level was above 20 or something along those lines.

  13. They're separate bytes; just ignore the language portion. 0x12 = language 0x13 = flags Example of an unmodified wild Dratini: 02 is for 'FlagHasSpecies', which is true, the data does contain a species. This is essentially the equivalent of 'sanity' data for future games, as the data is outside of the encrypted&shuffled region, allowing for quick checking if the slot has data or not.

  14. @Kaphotics, I never knew about those flags you noted. So if a language is 0x102, then it will be seen in-game as "Bad Egg"? I also didn't know the 0x600 could be separated because I never see a 0x400 flag used. Also no matter the language, an egg is ALWAYS 0x601. I tested 0x602 and others, and it doesn't localize properly. Or maybe you can clarify and I am just confused.

  16. I just got one at CP 30 (Lv 1), phew. Was afraid it'll despawn before I can finish checking it. I finally got Cresselia for myself yesterday, and got a Shiny Ho-Oh today. It's been good. Now just need a shiny Misdreavus XD

  17. dump the Pokemon on this save into a folder, then import the folder of Pokemon into your main save. (the load boxes and dump boxes options) Always keep a back up of your save elsewhere, before attempting any modifications.
