My speculation:

Nintendo releases all former pokemon gb/gbc/gba titles onto the 3ds store as downloadable games that allow any pokemon caught in them to be transfered to X and Y in the same fashion Dream Radar was. This may illiminate the resale market, but nintendo wouldn't care, as they would be getting money for more out dated games.

Why not? Think about it? If people think that they can get a glitch going for the game or just want to play the original versions, don't you think that they'd buy it? Even failing that fact, I think that pokemon yellow has a good chance of making it into a port before x and y, and remember, it's all about nintendo making a buck.

Releasing former Pokemon games as 3DS DLC is a possibility,

But I don't expect them to do it because:

It will not be multiplayer; to make a game that used "Link cable" to Wifi, is too much effort for them.

Imagine how much recoding has to be done

If you can't trade, gen I and II is effectively locked and you cannot complete the Pokedex.

Going by that statement, the only possibilities are FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald cause wireless is supported.

(Then again, an Emerald on GBA with wireless adapter could not trade with an Emerald in DS, so they'll have to recode the game significantly,

Hence limiting the possibility.)

downloadable games that allow any pokemon caught in them to be transfered to X and Y in the same fashion Dream Radar was.

If I remember correctly, Dream Radar was developed together with B2W2,

So it's natural they are compatible.

The Pokemon data formats from GEN I&II to III changed significantly, hence it was not compatible.

It will be a hassle for them to perform something like that.

On a side note on that front, I rather them make Transfer from IV -> VI possible,

so that we can transfer Spikey Pichu :D

I'm sure you already know this, but just because FR LG E used "wireless" link technology does not mean it would be easy to adapt them to DS wireless communications. If anything, I imagine the wireless used in the Gen III games more closely resembled the architecture of the link cable... just wireless.

Of course, I'm no hardware manufacturer or network protocol specialist, so I can't really back that up....

I get the feeling SEP is gone for good. :-(

Anyway on topic: CORO SCANS!

While everyone is hyping over the plain obvious, lets look into the deeper details:

1. customisation is present. will you get overall unlocks after elite 4?

2. Do notice the big watch thing they are wearing. C-gear replacecment tool?

3. What could X & Y means with the usage of Nintendo Network?

Discussion!

Can we talk about the fact that random trainers now have an introduction before the battle?

Or at least it looks like it, the blonde girl in the scans looks like a Lass Trainer

So it looks like that the Pokedex will be split into three distinct sections.

One section is called 'Central Pokedex', another is called 'Coastal Pokedex' and the third is the 'Mountain Pokedex'. ~Serebii.net

I actually cannot wait for this game.

Customizable trainers (albeit limited so far), three area Pokedex and cool looking Legends....should be a good game....

....but then again, the story could be terrible.

The Kalos region looks like on from a spinoff game... It has a little of everything that you can imagine... For that reason it gets a - from me.

I expect very very limited trainer customization. Although some High-horse clothes after beating the champion will be appreciated.

I am more interested in the new Mewtwo formes... We saw what the ''awakened'' one lookes like in battle... i wonder what the regular will look like (if the take the movement for 3 pokes from Colosseum, xD, BR and stick them in like in the MD series) as well as the other one we ''don't know'' about.

A far as story quality goes - I'm sure X2 and Y2 will improve it... Yes GameFreak, i'm looking at you!

I know theres many people from Japan here

did anyone see the x and y trailer and can tell me what is orotto?

I keep hearing its a car pokemon which actually scares me

It's highly unlikely that it will be a car pokemon. A pokemon (natural) which is a car (man-made mechanical)....extremely unlikely. Yes Porygon and Mewtwo are man made pokemon, but a Car? Come on.

Orotto/Aulotte has yet to be revealed so at this point speculation is all we have.

My opinion, I think it may be a flying type or a Fairy.

Also, many games don't support that feature.

Generally games that involve collecting or online records, just like on Wii.

You can backup the saves of downloaded games onto your SD card using the latest firmware.

Right, and there are a list of games that do not allow backups to be made, due to things that could be abused.

Many Wii games were like this.

There are about 10 3DS titles that do not support this new backup feature, Animal Crossing is one of them.

The following software does not support the ability to back up save data from the HOME Menu:

    Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!
  • Dillon's Rolling Western
  • Pokémon Rumble Blast
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf
  • Pokémon Dream Radar
  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

Right.

I haven't taken a good look since that firmware update, but I'm pretty sure the normal (non backed up) saves are stored the same way in the UI, which is: in a file combined with the game's download data (if download titles are the same as eShop games and VC).

Which means you cannot move save data in the UI as easily as Wii or Wii U, but I have no idea if the file is separate or combine when looking at the SD card on a PC.

Just throwing this out there: would a car be more ridiculous than an ice cream cone?
