Why are you using a "battery file" when the .dsv that Desmume produces is usable in PokeGen...? Where do you people come up with this stuff?

because those were the exact steps I had to do, or else I won't be able to edit my .sav

Well, that's the Game Card. What about the Downloaded games from the E-Shop and the option to Back up the game there? Would there be some potential there?

If I remember, every time you "save" for eshop games, there's a unique identifier. If you try to put in yesterday's save to replace a save you just done (on the sd card), it won't load as the identifier is stored on the 3ds.

The only time I got away with backing up 3ds eshop saves is for dream radar (on os 5.x.x)

if you're referring to the eshop app that backs up cart saves,

Afaik it's one way to your eshop games, and the save is deleted from your cart.

If someone's using Desmume, there is literally nothing extra that needs to be done once you save in-game...

It might be my computer Or emu version, But I once encountered a situation where I saved in game, But my battery file extracted remained corrupted until i soft reset and extract again.

For those using desmume,

Try troubleshooting with the following steps:.

1. Save twice in game (at the pokedex /Pokemon/items menu )

2. Soft reset (press L+R+START+SELECT Or Ctrl R)

3. Don't enter "Continue"

4. Emulator menu, export battery file/save file.

In addition to what everyone said, and based on what I think you have:

1. Gen III to Gen IV. Pal park on latest desmume

2. Use your R4 to transfer you emulator sav to a retail Gen 4 cart

(R4i dongle (cartridge save reader for pc), Or ds save manager, Which also allows gba backup and restore (ds homebrew) Or savsender and savreceiever (ds homebrew), search them all up)

3. retail Gen IV poketransfer to Gen V on your R4 (That's if your R4 can run Gen V; clones usually need a special Wood firmware )

Alternatively, at step 2, use pokegen, extract deoxys from your emulator save, upload into pokecheck then queue for Gen V GTS download

Been searching the net forever for answers, have a general idea. I have been trading over on reddit r/pokemontrades, have seen several shiny birth island deoxys I know they were obtained on emulators. Just curious if anyone has tried or knows how abouts to.. go about this process. Have an r4 chip on the way in the mail. Guess my problem isn't so much getting the deoxys but getting it to a game cartridge. I am aware I could just download one I know what I want isn't considered legit, but regardless I would like it to be unique, my OT, non masterballed etc. Etc. Hope someone knows what I'm talking about, would appreciate any help/info.

Basically.. you want to know how to get yourself a Shiny Deoxys from Birth Island right?

I understand you don't consider the downloading part "Legit",

But are you able to "Legitly" get to Birth Island, and Soft Reset until Deoxys is encountered shiny?

My point is, you might have to resort to something "less legit", but at least you know you caught it yourself.

Note: GBA games can't be played on R4

Important Questions for the Tutorial

1. Do you have a DS that supports GBA games? (DS phat, DS lite etc.)

2. Do you have a retail FRLG/Emerald GBA cart?

3. Do you have a retail Gen IV cart?

Correct. The spoofed GTS only changes a small aspect of data, the remainder of requested data comes from the official GTS servers.

I've actually used it a few times, but I never knew!

Anyway, they're just shutting down DW, and claimed will support GTS support, so any of the alternatives I suggested for obtaining DW probably won't be affected...

Btw, we don't have fake GTS servers. Only hacks on the real one. Try hosting a GTS hack without your computer having access to the real one, and it won't work.

Anyhow, if you can access your sav, you can still use pokestock Or pikaedit.

For those who can't access their savs,

start a new game on emulator, hack in your tid Sid ot name, use pokestock to input decided pokes into entra forest,

catch them and then use pokegen to extract the pkm and fakegts it to your cart...

Because.. this particular event Jirachi should not be "nicknamed" at the first place, I believe.

If I recall correctly, for this Jirachi, you collect it and that's all, no nickname prompt.

So you are saying they are hacks? I would let my partner know before trading and I have statements on every board saying itnhad a ribbon attached. Some boards allow those to be traded as long as the person you are trading with knows where it came from. If anyone wants them I will tell them. Why did you recommend me to download if they are considered hacks. their hack checker shows legit .

If I'm interpreting Guested's reply correct, what he means is:

1. The Pokémon was originally obtained legitimately by him

2. However the fact that they are uploaded online, which can be downloaded by everyone with the same stats, PID etc, means they are no longer considered Legit, but Legal at best.

In some sense, they are technically hacked; if you did not hack or mess with the game, one would not have been able to extract it out of the save and post it onto the internet.

In the present form, they are still Legal and can be used for personal collection purposes,

So you can simply tell you friend that it was generated in game using Dream radar transfer to Entralink and all, then "uploaded online for download for the masses".

If you want something more individualised (ie, has your own TID SID,), use Pokestock/Pikaedit to inject the Pokémon into your game

(which in this case you can tell your Friend that the encounter was injected, however the generation of the Pokémon and the PID was still done by the game, so its also legal at best)

That's right, using Pikaedit (and hex editing), you can load them into your Download segment of PWT.

Well.. you can make the pkm file for gen III, get someone to transfer up 2 levels for you.

tried with legal.exe but ive been told it doesnt work/nothing happens when i toss my pkm file in there (other than registering its path)

Yes. The date obtained is the date it first reach Gen V, which in this case when it was transferred to your White!

first question regarding pokedex is the following: imagine i have exchanged a feebas (pokemon ive never caught before in white2) with another trainer.. it arrives to me and starts evolving.. well: do i register both feebas and milotic in the pokedex, or only milotic? (as feebas evolved right after it came)

2nd: location: location if it was obtained in emerald as an egg? day-care couple or which?

3rd: date: do i place the date i obtained the pokemon (ie i exchanged it yesterday so id put 23/06/13) or the date the pokemon was caught in other pkm version (ie i captured it 1 year ago in emerald so id put.. 23/06/12)

2. Neither. Even though obtained in Emerald as an egg, you would have went through 2 transfers (pal park and pokeshift) to get it here.

The origin game will be Emerald (not game transferred in), and location met is Pokeshift/Poketransfer
