  1. On November 15th 1997 a playable demo of Pokémon Gold and Silver debuted at Space World '97. This demo was never to be seen again until today. On May 31st 2018 an anonymous person dumped a ROM of the elusive demos, twenty years and six months since it was last playable by the public. Pokemon Gold and Silver we're originally supposed to be released in 1998, however didn't arrive until November 21 1999 in Japan. With that in mind the final versions of Pokemon Gold and Silver is two years more developed then the Space World 97 Demos, making this an extraordinary find, even more so that it's made it's way to the public. Their is a Google Spreadsheet with Info on a WIP translation from people who've had this for a while it seems. I can't post that though as it also links to the rom. On the debug roms you can press select at the title screen to view the main debug menu. Pressing Down + B + A at the title screen will allow you to adjust the time.

  3. I want to make this post to clear up a few things as I think its important to know. Where did the beta versions of G/S come from you may ask? Someone posted this anonymously: According to the group who was working on this the original plan was to fully document the betas and release an English translation alongside it which was estimated to take around a month maybe less. An anonymous poster however didn't want the Pokemon fandom to wait a month and leaked the beta Gold rom, the plan now unless something changed while I was asleep is to keep working and release the beta Silver with everything else as per the original plan. The Super Game Boy Boarder for beta Silver looks neat doesn't it?

  5. The pk2 structure is identical to the final games. Basically a pk2 looks like this. General PK2 Structure 0x00 0x01 0x01 Species ID 0x02 0xFF 0x03 - 0x32 Pokemon data https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_data_structure_in_Generation_II 0x33 - 0x3D OT 0x3E - 0x48 Nickname As you may know OT names and nicknames are stored separately from the rest and the first 3 bytes are not present in the save file. This is also the case for the demo. For the save file the offsets are as follows: 0x2000 Party Pokemon count 0x2001 - 0x2007 Party Pokemon species IDs (+ 0xFF as terminator at the end of the list) 0x2008 - 0x2007 Party Pokemon (30 bytes) 0x2128 - 0x214B OTs (6 bytes, 0x50 as padding bytes) 0x214C - 0x216F Party nicknames (6 bytes, 0x50 as padding bytes) In the RAM you will find the same structure starting with the party Pokemon count at 0xD6AA.

  7. Hey everyone, I just loaded up my ten year-old XD:Gale of Darkness save file. While looking at the Shadow Monitor in the in-game PDA, and I noticed that it displays: Whether the Pokemon was caught or not (and where). Whether it was purified. What gender it is. What kind of pokeball was used. Which box it's in. Given it provides this information, I would assume the game stores the PID of each and every shadow Pokemon caught in a separate part of the save file for the Shadow Monitor to cross-reference and see if that Pokemon is still present in the games PC/Party. If so, would it be possible to view/extract these PID's? The reason I ask is that I lost a lot of these shadow Pokemon (including Lugia) and would like to recreate them using the original PID's. Thanks in advance for any advice

  9. Happy of this. But i can also udnerstand why pepole are worry about this game, especilay becouse (for make even more easy) they took away many thing not just random encounters. But ehy visualy i liked, it almos make me feels im inside of one episode from the anime and is fine for me. Im only a bit disappointed about the fact that my Eevee will never be able to evolve in Flareon. O well you can get evreything i suppose. If i understand correctly the core pokemon game for the fan (and competetive battlers fans) will be relase in 2019. So if this are the premese for the new generation in terms of visual....we are up to a good start in my eye at the very least.

  11. It's likely 07/07/2003 (07/07/2002 when playing in a language other than Spanish), since July 7th is the data of the Japanese festival Tanabata, which Jirachi is inspired by.

  14. Exactly what I was thinking. It would only end up being more like a Mascot of a partner, as opposed to being a true partner. Hence why I've yet to make a decision on which game to get. I don't think I have ever taken so long to decide on which game to get. Indeed. How is it G8, if it can't even accept G8 monsters. Frankly, I hope that it'll get patches, so that it can accept more Pokemon with time, but I find that unlikely. It's not like they patched SM to allow it to have USUM introduced creatures. Then again, the way patching worked on the 3DS is extremely clunky. To add models, gotta download the entire garc, which can be pretty big. Hope that changes with the Switch.
