  1. That's the thing. Since back in Gen III, 10 years ago, it was difficult to verify legitimate contributions, so I understand why they wouldn't want to distribute it then. However, 10 years has passed, and I doubt that we will believe any contribution we received, which is why I personally believe it is a great time to get one of those distro roms and crack it wide open in the public, as well as for archiving purposes. Even before the hack, but especially during us being hacked, I've come to value having multiple copies backed up on the net, and across different platforms. Upload servers can be taken down, get hacked, files get corrupted. For these files which may seem like ancient property, contains precious data that should be preserved, tools or games or saves alike.

  3. Hello everyone, I'm theSLAYER, your (hopefully) friendly moderator here! First of all, I'll like to thank everyone for their contributions and co-operation thus far! I've decided to have a fresh start for the contribution thread; hopefully more people will read this post, before they post Golden Rules on what is allowed on this thread: Contribution of events from users Pointing out whether said posted event(s) is legal or faked <The only discussion allowed here> Contribution of information regarding other events already posted or event missing from database Strictly no begging and no requests. Want to hype? Go to our Discussions and FAQ thread! HOW TO CONTRIBUTE! 1. Pokemon Link Extractions Dumping and injecting can be done via PKhex 2. Wondercard file (WC6) Extraction can be via Pkhex or using NTR method (recommended, especially for local events) Requirements for such contributions: 1. DO NOT SUBMIT EDITED <or faked> WONDERCARDS, or Wondercards from Private Servers <if you do not know what this is, don't ask> 2. Attach your wondercard in a .zip or .rar file, and upload onto our system while posting. 3. Submit a full video starting from the booting up of your device, and show the event location + receiving of the Pokemon MISSING WONDERCARDS! Please do not submit Powersaves extracted entries. Event Compilation Our individual files can be found at our on-site Event Gallery! If you know how to download files from Github (not sorted by region), an overall archive can be found here on our git page. I regularly move old posts to another thread, to prevent cluttering of this thread.

  4. That would be the holy grail. That and a Wonder Card distro ROM. EDIT: Topic was started when theSLAYER moved posts discussing 10 ANIV carts after a couple members mentioned they had some and would be willing to share the generation algorithm (the thing a lot of people here actually want, myself included) but not the actual ROMs. EDIT 2: Considering the scope of this topic has expanded beyond 10ANNIV/10 ANIV research, I decided to rename it.

  5. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO OUR EVENT COLLECTION! The Event Gallery page can be found here. Here is a collection of Generation V events that we have collected so far, in pgf format. Use this thread to contribute events as they are released and collected. Please submit the pgf file as an attachment in a zip file. Use Pokegen to extract pgf files from your sav file. Feel free to add screenshots, and Event/Wonder Card descriptions in the post, if you like. Please also state how you obtained the event itself. Please submit some photos from the event location as well, preferably of any poster with the distro information on it, or of the location itself. DSi and 3DS have a built-in camera, so that shouldn't be too difficult. Only make posts here if you have a submission, a comment regarding the validity of submitted events, have noticed an error in the collection files, or have noticed a missing event. If you want to make a notification of an upcoming (or missed ongoing) event, make a new thread in the "Event Pokemon" forum and include a link to the source (sources are very helpful, especially for non-English and non-Japanese events). Examples of good contribution posts: Not yet contributed events: Singing Pikachu (POKEMON with YOU Tour) (Japan, Aug 9-10, 13-14, 17-18, Sept 3, 2011) Event Info Thread World Chapmionships 2012 Flying Pikachu (Hawaii, Aug 12, FRA/ITA/SPN) (ENG/GER card has been contributed, JPN/KOR use ENG) Event Info Thread Korea Strongest Single Battle Pokemon (6) (Korea, Feb 24 - May 5, 2013) Event Info Thread Team Rocket Meowth (Italy, Mirabilandia, Pokemon Day, July 13 - 14, 2013) (ITA contributed, ENG, FRA, GER, ITA, SPN langauges possibly also distributed) Korea Movie 2013 Red Genesect Recently added to Gallery: Thanks, people! If you missed the announcements, the Event Gallery page is now open and can be found here. Latest Version: 11/11/2013 (First update of the zip in over a year, added everything that was missing) Recent updates: PPorg_GenV_WCs..zip

  7. That was generally the plan, since I had to do that with the lost Pokemon that I recovered from my W&W2 hall of fame(s). EDIT: After extracting a few pokemon, I realized that something was off; the pokemon were in pk2 format, with completely incorrect data. Here's my original save file that I was using to try to use. I have no Idea what I'm doing wrong, I'm even usingthe right software & nearly everything!

  8. Hence, You could start searching your save in HexEditor (HxD) for the nickname in hex. I found a first hall of fame first Nickname at 2300E, and second nickname at 23048 so its all around there.

  9. And they likely have a DS Flash Cart to run the ROMs (and homebrew programs) themselves.
    1 point
  10. Not just the fact that the carts are out there, but so are the roms. Unless all the ones that can be seen are bootlegs (the crisp images says otherwise), it seems that there are no carts because the demand for it may not be there. I think that people who are aware of distro carts are likely informed enough to know about roms too..

  11. The only Gen III distro I'd be interested in modifying is the European Aurora Ticket cart. The 10ANNIV ones would be neat to modify as well, provided the trash bytes and PID methods are the same for ALL 10th Anniversary Pokemon, no matter if they're from the US or the UK. Same for ROCKS Metang. Regarding the whole trash bytes thing, that makes me glad I had the foresight to keep copies of my three 10 ANIV Celebi in Gen III (which are in the save I linked earlier). Emerald's cloning glitch would preserve those, right?
    1 point
  12. Another thing to consider, Gen III is the first generation where distribution devices were either flat out made available to the public (Ageto Celebi disc, WISHMKR Jirachi disc, PAL Pokemon Channel, Eon Ticket e-Reader card) or were stolen from their event locations (the Shiny Zigzagoon GameCube demo discs, European Aurora Ticket cart, the MYSTRY Mew carts, the various 10th Anniversary carts). The same can't be said about the Gen 1 or 2 distribution methods. And personally, I wouldn't worry about the Gen 1 and 2 events (besides Virtual Console Mew) because unless you use a PC program, those Mews and Celebis will be forever stuck in Gens I and II. For me, the fact that these Gen 3 events are able to be migrated to future generations is the reason to preserve not just the ones already collected, but the method to generate more. Especially considering some moves are still exclusive to these various events. So bottom line, it's not about the actual distro ROMs (even though those would be AMAZING to have), it's about the method they use to generate the Pokemon or wirelessly send Wonder Cards so we can put that into custom ROMs that you could tell apart from the real ones.

  13. I haven't had time to look at those saves to see if they match what I was given. Ajxpk is right about the trash bytes. The original trash bytes are generated from the actual event process. I wonder if that process was modified (Like a program that has a generate 1, 5, 10, 100 option) to account for the other 4 mews in the 5-mew block. As for the trash bytes, I haven't had time to put together a pattern search algorithm. Although since it is just one byte, and there are several variables that could account for trash bytes, it is hard to start. if I had more information about how trash bytes are normally generated in 3rd gen, including (or not) event process, then that would help tremendously. Unfortunately it could be something as simple as, what was in memory at that time, before the generation. Also if 3rd gen has dynamic memory offsets (Emerald had that too, did FR?), that could account for the trash bytes being different too.

  15. Considered: yes worth it: maybe worked on: no same boat as ability checking, it's a black/white yes:no but I'm not interested in implementing hardcoded lists that change at the whim of gamefreak (besides events)

  17. Good news, that's the part we care about. Well, that using the algorithm to make 100% custom GBA distro ROMs and injection programs for DS, GameCube and Wii.

  18. Not to mention having access to DS distro ROMs to modify hasn't hurt that market in the slightest. And would have seen that affected YEARS ago, since the first DS distro to get dumped was the US GameStop Deoxys cart, in 2008.

  19. No, Homebrew doesn't limit what kinds of games you can play. (If that's what you mean) Unless you are running on an outdated firmware you should be able to play all carts/downloaded games.

  20. Apart from the fact that doing so would be devastating to people like Metropolis who paid serious money for the distribution system, all 10ANNIV distribution carts (carts, not devices) that have appeared on ebay over the years are custom flashed ROMs into Nintendo dev carts. What I'm saying here is that if you have just the cartridge from the event, the chances are it contains a modified ROM that distributes legit 10ANNIV events and not the ROM untouched. There are some collectors who buy cheap Nintendo dev/prototype cartridges, like a dev cart for an unfinished Catwoman demo for example, for ~$20 and they flash rarer ROMs into these carts and sell them online for 10x prices. This piece of information comes from collectors of the AssemblerGames forums. Last but not least, making a ROM like that public, would have the same results on the ebay world as the Mystry Mew saves did. Casual eBayers who have no idea what Project Pokemon is as a site, would have no idea if they bought public or not distro devices.

  21. I want what preserves these events in the best way for both sides. I mean, I get the whole "rare collectible" aspect behind the actual distro cart, but I don't feel that alone should keep the people wanting uncloned legal versions of these Event Pokemon from getting them. Now don't get me wrong, having access to the actual distro ROM would be amazing, but I'd be perfectly fine with a custom distro program that generates these events in the exact same way the official distro cart does (same generation algorithm and same method of sending data to the games, which I believe was the Multiboot method). Naturally other methods would be cool too (DS and/or GameCube/Wii homebrew, like what suloku developed for the Gen 3 ticket events). Of course, the distro ROM I'd really love access to is a Gen 3 Wonder Card one. It wouldn't matter if it was the official or a reverse engineered one, having a way to distribute Gen 3 Wonder Cards the exact way done in the original events (instead of the "share Wonder Cards using the With Friends option" method we have to make do with) is something I've wanted to be able to do ever since the DS Deoxys distro ROM got dumped and modified back in 2008.

  22. I own a 10ANNIV distro ROM, which I would prefer to keep out of the public domain for reasons of devaluing it. If anyone can point me in the direction of a decompiler, I would be happy to share the sections of the source code that generate the Pokemon distributed, including its trash bytes. Alternatively, removing the user interface code from the ROM then sharing that modified ROM would be acceptable. I have the development knowledge to make sense of decompiler tools and am interested in helping to prevent and identify fake distributions. Determining the generation algorithm and making it public is in the interests of everyone here - the physical device retains value for the novelty of connecting to physical cartridges without external tools, whilst everyone has access to the 10ANNIV pokemon (and others sharing the algorithm) through synthetic means. Please could anyone share the details of what they would do if they had access to the cart and I'll follow those steps, release the findings, which will be verifiable by the matching up with known legit 10ANNIV Pokemon. Please respect my decision not to leak the ROM, it's because it is a highly collectable item, I'm not enjoying having to be restrictive about it.

  25. G'day guys, with Sun & Moon coming out soon I thought you might want to have a living dex ready in the bank. I've used the Mass Editor to change OT TID and SID so they're not mine any more. Not sure what will happen with the event pokemon (don't need them for either charm anyway). I've attached the file here, I hope. First time uploading a file here. Let me know how you go.
