  1. Well, against Gengar, you can pretty much forget about going first unless you're scarf'd, and only then if they aren't scarf'd themselves. Another problem is that you can't OHKO a Gengar with Shadow Ball unbuffed. It's a tough match. You might consider using Dark Pulse instead of Shadow Ball, however, simply for the fact that if you DO go first you may get lucky and score a Flinch on Gengar, clinching your kill (or a free hit on whatever switches in). edit: Also, what Enkidu said. If that would be your route, I'd drop Vacuum Wave and add Agility, then change the item to a Life Orb. Just my preference.
  2. They're fixed to extremely low values, something like 0~2 I think. If I remember right, the Latis were under the same stipulation.
  3. ^ That too. All very good points. I myself tend to forget about the differences between the two environments sometimes, but they are there and they're very real.
  4. Assuming that's the case, there is nothing that can be done. That's why I suggested scarf - then you CAN switch in on a DD and still be faster than non-jolly/timid sets, as well as score a OHKO. As an added bonus, they probably won't expect it either, judging on how this conversation has gone. Taking chances is what this game is all about. A jolly/timid DD'd salamence will outspeed you, unfortunately. Just the way the ball rolls. I don't see the issue.
  5. Actually, the majority of people I've talked to think the same way. Shoddy is a nice distraction, but there are a lot of problems with it (as well as missing content) that make it far from an acceptable substitute to the actual game. It might be true that a new version of the simulator won't change much, but there is no denying that it will have an impact.
  6. They can't outspeed a +speed/maxEV one period without a +speed nature themselves. Most of the Flygon/Salamences I've encountered run +attack/+spatk, so I don't see outspeeding them as a 'never happens'. That's all.
  7. I don't have time for a full rate, but I have to disagree here. Simply regarding an entire specialization as useless is among the many reasons I hate you know what, but I digress... HP Ice is going to pull a OHKO on a non-bulky Salamence/Flygon 100% of the time, and will do the same to Dragonite about half the time, all WITHOUT Specs. The specs are simply overkill in almost every Dragon matchup you have. Destati exaggerates when she says "all dragons outspeed Lucario", as a +speed nature and 252 speed EVs on your Lucario WILL outspeed neutral speed natured Salamence/Flygon. Changing the Specs to a Scarf will give you priority when switching in on a Dragon Dance, and allow you to stop them cold, but only if they don't +speed nature. Lucario's matchup with the dragons isn't the best in the world, but I'd say it's far from useless.
  8. Greencat's list is this site's resource. Therefore, we don't need this one. That's why this is a discussion thread and not a sticky.
  9. The information in this thread is hardly relevant because we have resources posted elsewhere. You are correct, though. It serves as a discussion thread. I never said that it didn't. That doesn't instantly mean it deserves being stickied, however, which was my entire point.
  10. It isn't stickied because this thread provides no information that is either A: relevant, or B: not posted elsewhere. It's a preaching thread for you discussion thread about the different aspects of Smogon's rules.
  11. [sprite]302[/sprite] With Spiritomb taking maybe second.
  12. I'd just like to point out the loveliest logical fallacy I've seen repeatedly in this thread: 1. The Bible says that God is real. 2. The Bible is the Word of God. --- Therefore, God is real. SORRY! DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT. :< If you can't see why this is a huge mistake, I don't think anyone can help you.
  13. The renders are beautiful. Eager to see more.
  14. I choose to believe that I can never trust the word of man on a subject as important as this. Anything that has ever been recorded and passed down, whether through scripture or through word of mouth, has the possibility of being a complete and utter lie. This isn't to say I don't suspect any sort of 'supernatural' activity in the universe, for what it's worth. There may very well be all sorts of things beyond what our senses can tell us. I know only this - I think, therefore I am.
  15. [sprite]025[/sprite][sprite]026[/sprite][sprite]101[/sprite][sprite]405[/sprite] Not sure which is better.
  16. [sprite]006[/sprite] or [sprite]123[/sprite] I can't decide.
  17. What exactly is wrong with Hypno, or even Banette? Hell, Banette is a twofold counter there - not effected by Focus Punch AND Spore, and has a good attack stat to boot. OHKOing it is not the only option, though it's certainly a good one. I already even mentioned Taunt. If your entire team gets put to sleep, you built a shitty team or you weren't prepared. Simple as that.
  18. Taunt it, or use the ability Insomnia or Early Bird. Problem solved. It's not half as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. If you get swept, it's because you have terrible foresight in team building, or you simply got paired up with an autoloss. Sucks to be you. Please point out where said sleep clause is for me, will you? Simply because it is an OPTION in Battle Revolution does not instantly make it official.
