Pokésav with AppLocale won't let me load .sav files... D:
OmegaDonut replied to Tigerseye's topic in Saves - Editing Help
Are the save files contained within a folder that has Pokémon spelled with the é? Pokesav under AppLocale won't load a save file if any of its parent folders contains a character with an accent. -
Faraway Island Mew can be shiny, but remember that the only Faraway Island Mews are Japanese.

That's one of my ongoing projects in Colo\. The problem with monitoring the memory is knowing what to look for - there are millions of instructions executed within a second. Although I've made some progress on learning how the game's RNG works, I still haven't gotten any useful info on the Pokemon generation process. It's something I'll go back into once 5th Gen research is wrapped up. Also, it would help if someone figured out how the PID and IVs of party Pokemon are stored in memory. Only the initial RNG seed. What I can tell you is that the Pokemon generation itself is not. Starting the game at different times but forcing the RNG seed to be the same produces the same results. The jury's still out on WISHMKR Jirachi until we get test results.

The earliest I have access to my Bonus Disc and my Sapphire cart is Saturday, but I'm sure someone else will be able to test it before then.

stadium Why Stadium 2 will (probably) never be on the Virtual Console
OmegaDonut replied to MACandCHEEZWIZ1's topic in Spin-Offs
It is possible to "inject" an N64 ROM into an existing Virtual Console WAD file. A lot of old games not yet released on the VC have been hacked in this fashion. However, it's been shown that Stadium\Stadium 2 are two of the many games for which it doesn't work, probably due to the Transfer Pak thing. -

Disappointing news. My friend only had the French, German, and English versions of Platinum on his flashcart, so he only got those Crobats. And apparently, the wondercards all contained the same Crobat. The text on all three were in English, and all three contained English Crobats. The Japanese Crobat might have been different, but we may never know. I didn't include the English wondercard because arhacker already posted it, and it matches the one I received personally. I'm certain not even Sabresite knows exactly how the game determines what chained shiny spreads can be hit or not. That's why the Sync Check will fail on some chained shinies.

I was there in Hawaii, right in the ballroom of the Hilton where they held the finals. 1) It was set to Timid. It even said so on the official website. 2) And if you'll look at the pictures on the official website, you'll see that it clearly says 'Battle in Kona". 3) The wondercard does have it spelled "Poke Mart", with no é.- 1164 replies

English Crobat's SID is 15269. The rest are probably the same.- 1164 replies

1) No. The English wondercard said Battle in Kona, my copy confirms that. 2) I'm not 100% certain, but if his DS date was set ahead to August 19, then that's what it would say on the wondercard. In any case, I'll have all the different language Crobats uploaded later this week. EDIT: 3) Poke Mart is also misspelled (no é) on my copy.- 1164 replies

If it was Pal Parked to HGSS it will sometimes show up as having invalid trash bytes, because legal.exe has not been updated for them yet. Also, trash bytes will always be invalid if you change the nickname of a 3rd gen Pokemon in a 4th gen game. (4th gen games can nickname any Pokemon so long as the trainer ID is the same.)

I downloaded one of the English Crobats at Worlds. I meant to get the Spanish and Japanese Crobats as well, but I was busy Pokesaving up a copy of the Japanese finalist's team to make sure the US finalist's team could beat him. Unfortunately I forgot that Pokesav can't extract wondercards from HGSS saves... unless there's another way I don't know about.- 1164 replies

Probably because it's kind of hard to upload VS Recorder videos directly to youtube.

You can't "make" the game hit the spread no matter what. Yeah, it's definitely a false positive. I think someone else reported another false positive earlier in the thread. In those cases you have to manually prove in RNG Reporter that you can hit that spread.

~Guide to 44h, 45h, 46h, 47h, and 85h Values~
OmegaDonut replied to Preston's topic in Saves - Research
Not in the least. That code will force every single Dialga you catch to have the wrong PID number. If you're going to cheat, just go all the way and use Pokesav's PID\IV generation method to give your Dialgas the right PID for the set of IVs you plug in. Also, I'm pretty sure this is the wrong thread for you to be posting in. This is the right forum. -
The "Sync Check" actually has nothing to do with Synchronize. In DPPt, certain "legitimate" IV\nature spreads are actually skipped and cannot be encountered at all. Pokemon you encounter through certain in-game events, like gift Pokemon (Eevee, Porygon, Dialga\Palkia\Giratina from the Arceus event, etc. and roamers) have all ~4.2 billion spreads available to them. But for everything else (including wild encounters and battles with non-roamer legendaries), the generation method skips over some of these "legitimate" spreads, so they can never be found on a wild Pokemon. The Sync Check makes sure the spread is not one of those skipped spreads.

By now it's known that the PIDs of all Pokemon from the Pokewalker come in the form D5FFFF??, possibly from an inability of the Pokewalker to handle 32-bit numbers. However, it seems the PIDs are also restricted by course. For instance, all the values of ?? for Pokemon from Winner's Road range from E8-FF. At least, all the ones I've caught. It probably ranges from E7-FF, in order to get the full range of natures. There are two applications to finding out the PID ranges for specific courses: - Giving the Legality Checker more criteria to verify the PIDs of Pokewalker Pokemon - Scoring a shiny Surfing Pikachu I suspect at this point that it's impossible to get both a shiny Surfing Pikachu and a shiny Flying Pikachu on the same game. They're set to different genders, so they probably have different, non-overlapping PID groups. Anyway, I'm looking to the community for more data. Please, could you share the PIDs of your Pokewalker Pokemon? The PIDs of Surfing\Flying Pikachus are a priority because there's no other way to get them without a set nature, but PIDs of other Pokewalker Pokemon are helpful too.

~Guide to 44h, 45h, 46h, 47h, and 85h Values~
OmegaDonut replied to Preston's topic in Saves - Research
You have to do more than modify the values of 44h and 45h. The PIDs generated are in the form D5FFFF??, where ?? is any value from 00 to FF. However, the value of ?? is also dependent on the course. For instance, all the Winner's Road Pokemon are restricted to E8-FF, which is one way to get a Snorlax. (I don't have enough data to be sure of that E8 lower bound.) I don't know if the Quiet Cave Munchlax has the same restrictions for ??. EDIT: Oh darn, that original post was like a week old. -

With a text editor that can handle really big files (i.e. not Notepad). I think I used TextPad. You can also try a hex editor like XVI32. -
How is "Trainer ID" Calculated?
OmegaDonut replied to theSLAYER's topic in Systems, Flashcards, and Emulation
When you start a new game, the game generates a new RNG seed from the date\time\time it took you to talk to the professor. It then invokes the RNG used to create egg PIDs (nature\shininess\etc.), which is separate from the normal RNG. The first upper 16-bits of the generated number are for the TID, and the lower 16-bits is the SID. There are about 2^32 different possible seeds with the RNG, but there are only a limited number of seeds the game can generate. It is possible to get the same ID\SID with two different seeds, and some ID\TID combos are not possible. It's pretty well documented how to start a game with a specific ID\SID. I started a game with a specific ID\SID so I could get a shiny near-flawless HP Grass Timid Raikou and Zapdos, and be able to renickname the Japanese event Mew to boot. This program is what you're looking for if you're more interested in learning how.
