I took the very first value in HxD (block 00 in offset 0) and changed it to 01, but after opening in PKHeX and saving, my checksum did not change. Why would this be? And thanks! EDIT: I did, however, get the checksum to 00 F5 by changing my TID to 44405 (and keeping my SID the same at 40171). How can I tell if this is a valid TID/SID combo given the vast amount of seeds that could be obtained with a live battery? The only way I can think of is to search each minute of each hour of each calendar day, which is impossible. EDIT2: I got the checksum to 00 F5 by changing my game time to 5 hr 26 min 30 sec. EDIT3: I GOT IT! Thanks everyone for all your help!

Well, it wouldn't be the first time they've ran serial code and local wireless events within close proximity. best examples would be the anime pokes (vulpix/turtonator/steenee) and movie pokes (mew/lucario/charizard/piplup)

Yeah it appears they'll patch the game to give away the GS ball upon becoming Champion. After all, IIRC for the international games, the GS event was translated and the routine where nurse will walk down to give you the ball was actually in the game (just unused). So this patch wouldn't be too hard to do and hopefully wouldn't glitch up the game (well, VC patches works like a ram hack/gameshark code after all) I certainly do hope that they keep the DVs generation for Celebi intact, and don't force a all 15 DV Celebi on us. (then again, the Mew event was supposed to be all 15DVs, but they still allowed a shiny one to be transferred up, so who knows...)

It was recently announced on the official Pokemon website, that various Pokemon Centers and participating shops will be giving away the Pokemon used by the leaders of the villainous organizations! The overall giveaway period is January 20, 2018 (Sat) to March 11, 2018 (Sun), via Local Wireless, Limited to Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This translated schedule consists only of the Pokemon Centers in Japan. I'm quite excited that we are(likely) finally able to get a legal shiny Celebi, one of the few pokemon that can never be obtained as shiny(not counting those long stuck in Japanese Gen II saves). Though it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to force it to be non-shiny, but idk how much they'd actually care to put in the effort of patching in set IVs for the encounter. Which also makes me wonder if the GS Ball event trigger will be done by a patch, or an actual hard edit to the rom. Another part of this that's exciting is that for the second time, like Deoxys in ORAS, another mythical pokemon will now be permanently obtainable at any time just by owning the game, without needing to wait for a distribution. I always hoped we'd get more scenarios like that. Sure some people may not like "rarity" being devalued, but I always go back thinking about myself as a kid frustrated that I couldn't get certain pokemon. Even if it's easier these days, lots of people still miss out simply by not being aware at the right time.

Oh, I was expecting them to at least give away the legendaries. If these Mons don't have some special move or whatsoever, well...meh, just a filler event to delay even further the interesting ones. (That poster made me cringe...)

I've tried sending up a Celebi (captured on Crystal on emulator) and it didn't work at this point. They'll probably add support for the Celebi later on..

Looks like the upcoming JP Shiny Kyogre and Groudon events will be by serial code, so only JP 3DS will be able to obtain them? Is this the first official shiny events for these 2 pokemon? I think it a 'yes' to both questions, but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks to all!

@theSLAYER, the blog post at Serebii specifically states SC redemption with dates. I assumed these were also taking place at PCs (among other locations) and not via local wireless. At any rate, the details are slim.
