I've played almost every handheld Pokemon game to date, not counting Jap versions. I've played both Gold and Silver, don't know which version I'll buy. But definitely going to get one of the versions, if not both.

The funny thing is, there is always a preferred version every time, and it's usually the one that is not blue-related. For example:

More people prefer Gold version over Silver
More people prefer Ruby over Sapphire
More people prefer Fire Red over Leaf Green
More people prefer Diamond over Pearl

Strange; back when Gold and Silver originally came out, I got the impression that Silver was the more popular of the two. That's the one I preferred and bought, anyway. In all the other versions I agree, though... Red, Ruby, FireRed and Diamond are the ones I bought (and the 3rd version remakes).

Although they never did that again... I mean think about it. After generation II there was Ruby and Sapphire which only allowed you to catch the mascot of the individual game. Then there is Diamond and Pearl which only allowed you to, once again, capture the mascot of the individual game. Of course both Emerald and Platinum allowed you to catch both though, but a third game is out of the question. Do you think there might be a possibility of them making it so you can only catch the mascot of the individual game you bought? If they do, that would be pretty stupid.

Back then in G/S there was an incentive to get one version over the other. It was because in Gold you get a Ho-oh with Sacred Fire while Lugia gets Aeroblast in Silver... but both versions can't get both Pokes with their signature moves (Crystal couldn't get either). Now there will be move tutors and Sacred Fire/Aeroblast has been moved to a higher level so I don't think it will matter anymore. But then again, I never run Aeroblast on Lugia. :p

The thing is, both Pokes are at different locations while those version mascots were available in the same place but only one is available in one version... so it might not be the case... hopefully :o

I don't think the GSC were anything special, personally. RSE strike me as being the best in the series and I think of GSC as the worst, if not the second to last.

I was thinking of getting it at first but I'm not entirely sure now. Since I have PokeSav I don't need them for getting 2nd Gen Pokemon or whatever new move tutors there are. Unless the games have their own Orange Islands or Battle Frontier I won't be getting either of them.

Does anybody know if the events to be triggered in HG/SS by the movie arceus and pichu, etc. absolutely HAVE to be triggered by those event pokemon, or will any old shiny pichu and/or arceus work? If not, somebody needs to get a hold of those pokemon and CLONE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM!!!

Actually you are mistaken. There is a Notched Ear Pichu in the game and it is activated through transfering the Pikachu Colored Pichu from DPPt to HGSS. From here, when it is first on your team it'll activate the Notched Ear Pichu event in Ilex Forest. So, there is one just to let you know.

Anyway, to answer the topic of this thread, yes I shall be getting the game. Both as a matter of fact. Seeing as what they've done to the remake interests me quite a lot and I'd be glad to see how it turns out.

Hm, so it could be possible that Pokemon don't follow you indoors, sorta how you couldn't run indoors in generation 3. But even that won't stop me from buying both games! I would even buy both if no Pokemon could follow you at all. That caught me by surprise.

It's a remake, so yeah I would want it becuase it's one of those enhanced remakes that brings back memories and it's on the DS so it would last longer. I'm looking forward to the graphics and the gameplay as well as Kanto and Johto all over again.
