  1. Rules for The Cool Kids Corner No inappropriate material (Gore, Violence, NSFW, ect.) No hate towards anybody Standard site-wide rules apply Failing to abide by these rules will lead to a ban from the club and notifying moderators.
  2. Posting Request Format When posting a separate request, please follow the following format to reduce questions and waiting time: Pokemon Request Format Please post, as well, whether you would like an AR Code, Wi-Fi Trade or .pkm File. Item Request Format Item: Bag Slot: Bag Section: OR if you would like to trade a Pokemon holding the item: Pokemon To Hold Item: Item: Friend Code: Please follow these formats, they will help prevent questions which will in return get you the Pokémon and/or Item faster. Note: If making a request that does not have an assigned format located here, feel free to use your own. __________________ Additional Rules 1. Questions Re: Pokésav Help - If you have a question with Pokésav and need help, post in the Save Editing Help Forum. 2. Check RAM Editing Forum First (Unless Custom Request) - Check RAM Editing Forum first before requesting Events. Some codes are already made in the Pokesaved AR codes for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum sticky. So be sure to check this first and several other stickies located there. 3. Requesting Custom Legit Pokémon - It is impossible to create a Legit Pokémon, according to the site's standards. This rule only applies to Requested Custom Pokémon. 4. Use Spoilers (This Is Required--Regardless of Thread) - If the post has an AR Code or more than one request, use Spoilers:
  3. You must read and abide by these rules to be a member of ProjectPokemon.org, this includes the wiki, forums, and IRC. If you do not, there will be consequences as detailed in the post below. Keep in mind that the interpretation and enforcement of these rules is strictly up to staff members and is not open for debate. Site-wide Rules Abide by Canadian and International laws when on this site. Project Pokémon is hosted in Canada, and as such all material on it must abide by Canadian and International laws. This means you cannot upload or link to pirated material (copyrighted material which you do not have the rights to distribute). If you mention having a ROM in any of your posts, we will assume that you backed it up from a retail cartridge that you own. Should you need to share an edited ROM with others, you must use a patch file; linking to or uploading a ROM, even if it has been edited, is strictly forbidden. Be considerate of other members and Pokémon fansites. This encompasses many of our rules. Specifically, do not offend other members and/or Pokémon fansites in the IRC or forums. Do not flame or write slanderous comments regarding any other websites and/or members. Keep in mind that CAPS LOCK is generally considered shouting and should only be used accordingly. You will be penalized if you do not follow these rules. Do not impersonate Project Pokemon staff. While using the Forums, IRC, or other Project Pokemon services, you are not allowed to impersonate a member of Project Pokemon's Staff in any way. This includes, but not limited to, similar nickname(s), similar username(s), stating you are staff, etc. You will be asked to change your Nickname/Username. On the forums, please PM an administrator to change your user name. Failure to avoid this may result in a ban. Staff: Forum Staff and Site Admins; IRC Staff Do not request to be Project Pokemon staff. Do not ask to become part of Project Pokemon's staff. If we need to add staff, we'll ask you. If you want to be on staff, follow the rules, contact staff or use the report button when you see a problematic post, and just try to set a good example for other users. Try to be reasonable when reporting. In IRC, staff might give temporary moderator staff status to users who are being considered for some type of staff status. Do not post inappropriate content. Posting pornographic, vulgar, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate media is forbidden. Swearing is acceptable in moderation (read: when used as a part of normal speech to add emphasis or meaning); in excess it qualifies as inappropriate content. This includes inappropriate words in usernames. Do not advertise. Promoting anything exclusively for your own benefit or that is not related to the topic at hand is considered an advertisement. Blatant ads will not be tolerated anywhere on the forums, even the off-topic boards. Do not spam. In other words, do not post unnecessary or irrelevant messages on any part of the site. Use common sense and pay attention to what other users do and don't post; it should give you an idea of what is acceptable. This rule is somewhat more lax on the IRC. Always search this site and the internet before asking a question or asking for help. In the majority of cases any question you may have will have been addressed on the main site or the forums already. By asking such a question that has already been answered in plain site, you are wasting the time of others. Write in a manner that others can understand easily. Messages must be written with proper spelling and grammar for ease of reading (to the best of the poster's ability). Again, this rule is more lax on the IRC channels. Follow the reporting procedure if you think another member is not abiding by these rules. If you come across another user that is violating these rules, you may politely point it out to that individual, assuming they have not been notified already. However, moderation should be left to the staff; do not attempt to take matters into your own hands. The correct course of action is to use the report button if on the forums or PM an operator if on the IRC. As always, be patient. Do not misuse the report button. The "Report" button is intended to be used to notify us of posts that you think are breaking our rules. Please do not use it simply to ask questions or because you disagree with the author's opinion; in these situations the correct course of action is to reply to the post or private message the author. (Note that you will not be penalized for reporting something if you think it's against the rules when it turns out to not be; this rule only applies to reporting something for the wrong reasons.) Do not impersonate anyone. There will be very little tolerance for members found to be impersonating other people or misrepresenting their own identity, specifically others in the online community. Coming onto the forums, wiki, or IRC under multiple accounts is a violation of this rule, even if one account has been banned. Consequences for ban evasion include an even longer suspension and permanent bans for any alternate accounts. Do not scam other members. This applies to anyone offering a service on this site, whether it's battling, trading, requests, or something else. If terms agreed on beforehand are broken, it will be a violation of this rule. Do not cheat. We do not support or condone cheating at the expense of others. Do not use significantly hacked Pokémon in battle or in trades with those who are unaware hacked Pokémon are in use. Details about this rule can be found here. Forums Specific Rules Post threads in the appropriate forum. It should be pretty clear where any given thread goes, but if it isn't just post it in one of the general boards and a staff member will move it if necessary. Keep in mind that all of the editing forums have a sub-forum for help. Any questions or requests for help belong there and not in the parent forum. This rule will be flexible for new users but repeat offenders will face consequences. Stay on-topic. For the sake of simplicity, create a new thread if you start getting too far away from the topic of the original. Be specific when titling your topics. A topic title should give others a good idea of what your thread is about without them actually visiting it. This is often an issue with threads in the help forums; be specific as to what your issue is. Keep in mind that topic titles can be changed by their creator at any time. Do not stretch the page. Page stretching is done when someone posts an extremely large image or amount of text and it causes the page to stretch horizontally or vertically. If you have a large image, long code, or other material that may stretch the page, put it in between spoiler tags so that other members can read around it comfortably. Consequences - The Infraction System The Project Pokémon forums use Invision Community's warning system to keep track of users who've violated the rules and issue temporary bans when necessary. In the infraction system, each violation of the rules is given a point value and a length of time. When a rule is violated, a moderator will select the corresponding infraction from the list below. The point value of that infraction is added to the offending user's total infraction points. After the amount of time specified, those points will be removed. Should a user accumulate 100 or more total infraction points, they will be automatically banned for two weeks. This system makes the job of a moderator much easier and ensures consistency among punishments. Keep in mind that "custom" infractions of any point value can be issued in the event that the violation does not fit one of the infractions below. We also reserve the right to give a longer or permanent ban for repetitive or blatant violations of the rules. .cms_table_tborder_td { padding: 10px; border: solid black 1px; } Infractions Violation Points Expires Thread title is not descriptive. 20 1 Month(s) Thread posted in wrong forum. 20 1 Month(s) Spam/off-topic. 20 1 Month(s) Thread title is not descriptive. 20 1 Month(s) Inconsiderate Behavior. 20 1 Month(s) User is reacting excessively to another user violating the rules. 20 1 Month(s) Not using reasonable spelling/grammar. 20 1 Month(s) Asking question(s) without searching first. 30 1 Month(s) Mild inappropriate content. 30 1 Month(s) Mild advertisment. 30 3 Month(s) Flaming/trolling - User is being intentionally offensive. 30 1 Month(s) User is obviously discussing pirated material. 30 2 Month(s) Warez - User is linking to or asking for pirated material. 50 3 Month(s) Scamming - User has broken pre-determined conditions for a service. 50 3 Month(s) Cheating - battling with or trading significantly hacked Pokémon against or with unsuspecting opponents. 50 3 Month(s)
  4. Tier Discussion Rules: Welcome to the Tier Discussion forum. This forum is dedicated to discussing any changes our community feels the need to make from Smogon's Tiers, which are currently used as our standard. Changes should only be proposed with the following three tiers: OU, UU, and Uber. With that said, please don't post ridiculous changes, like asking for Kyogre to be moved down to OU, which isn't going to happen. Proposing a Change: If you feel that a pokemon in OU, UU, or Uber just isn't in the right place, feel free to post a topic about it. However, please use this format: Pokemon you wish to change: Tier the Pokemon is currently in: Tier you propose to move it to: Reasons why you wish to move it: Also, you MUST make your thread a Poll. You can do this by going into Additional Options and checking the box next to "Yes, post a poll with this thread." Your poll should have two options: 1. I agree with this change 2. I disagree with this change Since this board does not have much activity, I will be able to watch any threads that get created in here. The poll will be unofficial; it is just preliminary to see if there is some support for your idea. If an idea gets support, I will create an official thread and people will state arguments for and against it. Then, the community as a whole will vote on your change, and if it passes, the change will be made. All Other Threads: This forum doesn't need many other threads then proposing changes. However, if you want to discuss any aspects of the tiers, then feel free to do so. Thank you for reading, and have an excellent day! ~ Illithian
  5. Pokemon Platinum marks the newest phase in the Pokemon Metagame. For a long time, a website named Smogon has been put in charge of organizing the competitive Pokemon scene. Smogon can be related to Smashboards in terms of importance and influence. It has been accepted throughout the Pokemon community that whenever two people battle with each other they follow what we call "Standard Rules." These rules have been fashioned by Smogon.com to ensure the balance of battle. Here is what these rules contain: No Ubers First and foremost, Standard rules deny the usage of Uber Pokemon. These Pokemon overcentralize the standard gameplay and have been deemed too powerful. - Arceus - Darkrai - Deoxys (all forms) - Dialga - Garchomp - Giratina (Both forms) - Groudon - Ho-oh - Kyogre - Latias (with Soul Dew) - Latios - Lugia - Manaphy - Mew - Mewtwo - Palkia - Rayquaza - Shaymin (Sky Form only) - Wobbuffet - Wynaut Why are Garchomp and Wobbuffet banned? Garchomp and Wobbuffet/Wynaut are the only two/three Pokemon deemed Uber who are not legendary. Both have similar reasons. Neither of them have counters. Wobbuffet's ability, Shadow Tag, prevents switch-outs and draws battles into unneccessary lengths of time. Garchomp's ban was established a few months after the dreadul "Yachechomp" set was created. Yachechomp is the name for a Garchomp holding a Yache Berry, one of the 16 berries that decreases the damage of a super effective attack. Yache Berry decreases the power of Ice attacks. This berry essentially makes it so that no Pokemon can successfully switch into battle against Garchomp and defeat him. Evasion Clause Moves that boost evasion, such as Double Team and Minimize are not allowed. Abilities that boost evasion such as Snow Cloak and Sand Veil are still allowed. The item Bright Powder is also still allowed. The reasoning behind this is simple. If moves like these were allowed, the gameplay would be overcome with poor accuracy and would essentially turn into a game based solely on luck. Freeze Clause No two Pokemon may be frozen at the same time. There is no move as of current time that solely freezes a Pokemon, therefore this Clause cannot be enforced except for in controlled environments such as Battle Revolution and Shoddy. OHKO Clause Moves that cause a one-hit KO such as Sheer Cold and Fissure are not allowed. Similar to the Evasion Clause, luck should not win a battle but rather strategy. Sleep Clause The players may not put more than one Pokemon on the opponent's side to Sleep. The move Rest is not affected by this Clause. If it were not for this clause, Pokemon like Breloom, Butterfree and Darkrai would run rampant putting everything they see to sleep, preventing the player from essentially doing anything. Species Clause No two Pokemon of the same species may be used on the same team. For example, two Gardevoirs would violate this clause but a Gardevoir and a Gallade does not. This is because teams are suited for countering specific Pokemon only once. A team of Zapdoses would essentially require everyone to have a Blissey. It would destroy the balance of the metagame, and just imagine a team of 6 Arceus. Self KO Clause If both players have only one Pokemon remaining in battle moves that KO the user, such as Explosion or Destiny Bond, are not allowed. If a player uses a move that causes recoil damage such as Flare Blitz ends the game in both Pokemon fainting, the player that attacked LAST is announced the winner. This is largely because the player knows full well before hand that a move like Flare Blitz will have the chance of fainting their Pokemon. This clause is also available in PBR. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In addition to the Standard rules, there are also some clauses people may initiate when starting a battle. They include the following: Item Clause A Clause heavily enforced by all official Nintendo tournaments. Players are not allowed to have two or more of the same item on any of their Pokemon. Few players will initiate this rule, largely due to leftovers being very popular. Hax Clause This Clause bans the use of the items listed below: - Brightpowder - Quick Claw - Focus Band - King's Rock The reasoning behind Hax Clause is similar to the Evasion Clause. Either way, most of the time the player using Hax items would get a far larger advantage if they were to use an item like Life Orb or Leftovers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tiers There are currently six tiers in addition to the aforementioned Ubers Tier. They are Overused (OU),Underused (UU), Borderline (BL), Neverused (NU) and Not Fully Evolved (NFE). A Pokemon's ranking is determined by their overall usage. Obviously, the strongest Pokemon are used the most. Pokemon like Yanmega are strong but they are just not used that often, typically as a result of how other Pokemon are used. Even though there are six tiers, there are only three styles of gameplay. "Ubers" enable the usage of every Pokemon available. Obviously, the best Pokemon to use are in the Uber Tier which was previously mentioned. "Standard" is the style of gameplay most people play with. All Pokemon are permitted to be used in this style of gameplay except for Ubers. This is the default mode every player uses unless the player specifically states that they want to play "Ubers" or "UU" "UU", or "UU/NU" gameplay is a mode where Uber, OU and BL Pokemon are all banned. These are the tiers as of April 15 2009. Overused: Borderline: Underused: Neverused: Not Fully Evolved: Well, thats it. These are the rules we all play by. Check Smogon.com for more information. As time progresses, standards change.
  6. For now we have a few simple rules: 1) Respect everyone's opinion. This does not mean that you cannot disagree and discuss. But it must be done in a respectful manner. 2) When a thread is created the topic under discussion must be clearly explained. Also please post your stance in the original posts.
  7. "Rate My Team" Rules and Information Post your team in this Sub-Forum for everyone to rate and also to get advice from others. All teams will be graded as Pokémon DPPt Teams, if your team differs, please post the version the team will be used in. Last, but not least, state where the team will be used: Battle Tower Elite Four In-Game General (now with own thread: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2335) Competitive Wi-Fi Please use the following Format when making a RMT Thread: Pokemon @ Item Nature: Ability: EVs: Role: - Move 1 - Move 2 - Move 3 - Move 4 Comment: (Optional, but highly recommended) Criticizing Rules: 1. Post Helpful Comments - Post how they can improve their team/member. 2. Be Respectful - Don't be offensive and don't use an aggressive tone. OP Rules: 1. Use Proper Format - Follow the above format and you should be good. 2. Be Respectful - Don't be offensive and don't use an aggressive tone. Tips: (By Illithian 8/29/09} Create your team in Shoddy Battle and hit 'Export to Text' to have it automatically formatted. Include pictures of your Pokemon. Try to ignore your favorites; it will make it much easier to create a successful team if you aren't attached to a specific pokemon. Test your team frequently! You'll have fun and be able to see strengths and weaknesses much better in practice then on paper. Also, once suggestions are posted, you can really see the difference and whether or not its worth keeping. Good luck and have FUN!
  8. So I've been noticing many of you were making threads. And you've probably been noticing your threads are not appearing. Why is that? First off, your threads are being moderated, so it needs an approval of the moderator (namely me) or a global mod/admin to be put in effect. Many of your threads, however, were not worthy of its own topic. So here's how it works. HGSS has NOT been released yet, so for the most part, we are merely SPECULATING. Therefore, you must post your speculations HERE (it has been stickied for a REASON). Any confirmed information can also go in this thread as well, and Guested will update his first post. If you feel a topic is NECESSARY for its OWN, then you may post your own topic and I'll see if is worthy of one. However, if it isn't, then I'll either merge it with the original speculation topic or I'll have to delete it if it won't really create much of a discussion. Also, when you discuss, try not to say "It WILL" but say "It COULD" or "It MIGHT" because remember, you are only speculating. Some people don't know what speculating means. Very well... Remember to think carefully before you post. And yes, the global moderators and admins have the right to edit this as fit if the opportunity calls for it. Thank you and enjoy your time here Any suggestions? Feel free to PM me or to leave me a Visitor's Message.
  9. All art is from random google search and hosted via free image hosting. Most of it is chosen for the creep factor. But credit is given when I know who to give it to. Starting out is: Bugman the Flygon w/ Choice Scarf Adamant Levitate 82 HP/252 atk/176 speed - Earthquake/Fire Punch - Outrage - U-Turn - Thunder Punch My beautiful lead. I originally had many more EVs dumped into HP so I could outrun Lead Aerodactyl, but then I figured that I wanted this guy around to be my all around revenge killer. Even though Earthquake gets STAB, I started out using Fire Punch to revenge kill Scizor. And my thought process is Heatran is never going to stay in on EQ anyway. But I've found it to be more than useful in a few Wi-Fi matches and Battle Tower runs. I almost always U-Turn right out, since Flygon usually can't score a KO. Then I switch to an appropriate counter. It hits 420 speed, so it really doesn't have anything else to outrun as a lead, besides the occasional Scarf Gengar. Usually, I u-Turn out to this d00d: Weird the Bronzong w/ Light Clay or Leftovers Careful Levitate 88 HP/252 atk/110 Defense/60 Special Defense - Reflect - Stealth Rock/Light Screen - Explosion - Hypnosis Comes in on Flygon, sets up Stealth Rock. Maybe fire off a Hypnosis and sets up a Screen. I've been contemplating Leftovers, since fire moves are running rampant, and what's the point in having a screen or two if you can't survive to set it up. 252 atk is just for a powerful explosion, though I'm considering making it less to get some more bulk out of it. Hypnosis is chosen because Bronzong can usually afford to take some hits, so it can afford to miss once. *credit to Arkeis*ICANFLY! the Claydol w/ Leftovers Bold Levitate 252 HP/252 DEF/6 Sp Atk - Calm Mind - Ice Beam - Earth Power - Rapid Spin While none of my team is weak to SR, it still piles up damage. And it's nice to get rid of spikes. This d00der comes in on Skarmory, takes no damage from spikes and resists SR, spins away, and after a few Calm Minds, can take special hits pretty well. I am considering some EVs in Sp Def, so any recommendations are welcome. The attacks are the best I could do. Ice Beam prevents dragons (sans Kingdra) from coming in unharmed, while Earth Power is there so Heatran won't get the last laugh. The star of the team: *Credit to Deviant Art, to give the "talented" artists a place to be restricted to. Wizard the Tyranitar w/ Leftovers Careful Sand Stream 74 HP/252 atk/8 Def/176 Sp Def - Curse - Sub - Brick Break/Fire Punch - Crunch I originally had Fire Punch, but then it wasn't doing me much. With Brick Break, I can hit Scizor for neutral damage, and Heatran for SE. Crunch for STAB and it has more PP than Payback. And I chose Brick Break over Superpower because of the defense/atk drop, and to break down screens. This guy is so awesome. Screw the DD set. Curse is where it's at. All it really needs is other Pokes to come in and take care of status. I am considering lowering the attack to sink more either into defense or HP. I'm already covered on special defense due to Claydol, and my 6th member. The key to playing Tyranitar is to not come in too early. Too early, and it could get hit with status, or someone has a great counter. Both of these make it harder to get 2-3 Curses in. Also, because two attacks don't allow a lot for coverage. Heatran w/ Choice Scarf Modest Flash Fire 252 sp atk/252 speed/6 HP - Fire Blast - Dark Pulse - Earth Power - Will O Wisp/Overheat/Heat Wave/ Standard set. It's also a revenge killer, but it's mainly here to take poison and fire hits, because my origianl team had a massive fire (And bug) weakness. I'm probably going to end up going for a more defensive set, perhaps a RestTalker. Suggestions are welcome. Heatran's move pool kind of sucks. The 4th slot here is basically filler. Overheat can burn at 30%, Will O Wisp if I think I'm forcing a switch, Heat Wave because why not? *Credit to DEviant Art for creepy picture* Suicune w/ Leftovers Bold Pressure 252 HP/252 Def (no others, from a trade from eons ago) - Calm Mind - Protect - Ice Beam - Surf Not only was my old team heavily fire weak, but it was bug weak too. Which meant Scizor could rip through it. So here is my check on Scizor. Since it already needs 2 calm minds to do any worthwhile damage to non SE hits, I'm thinking of turning it into a complete support set. Or maybe digging through my boxes and see if I have any other options so I can EV train a new one to run Calm Mind. Mybe this 252/252 spread could run a nice Mirror Coat, Swagger, Roar, Toxic set? It might get replaced by Marvel Scale Rest Talk Milotic. Maybe. Overall, I got the following things covered with my team: Status: No one can really absorb sleep or paralysis, unless I change Suicune or Heatran to RestTalk. But Suicune won't mind the paralysis, and T-Tar's sub prevents status altgoether. Heatran absorbs fire, and all steels absorb toxic. Other weaknesses: Bronzong and Flygon cover ground weakness, Heatran covers fire and can take a variety of other hits, Suicune doesn't resist much but is incredibly bulky. Flygon revenge kills like nothing matters. Tyranitar will stay out of danger so it can keep changing weather patterns in my favor. My original team included the following: Skarmory w/ Leftovers Impish Keen Eye 252 HP/252 DEF/6 sp DEF - Roost/Counter - Stealth Rock - Spikes - Roar I quickly ditched Counter because I wasn't taking much damage from physical attacks. It served it's purpose well, but it mostly just sat there. It could still be viable on this team, but I'm not sure how beneficial it would be. This is why Bronzong now carries SR. Though if I continue to fail to set up screens and explode, this guy might make his way back. Torterra w/ Leftovers Impish Overgrow 212 HP/252 DEF/44 Speed - Leech Seed - Protect - Earthquake - Wood Hammer Standard set from Smogon. 44 Speed didn't help at all in outrunning Swampert. I guess most are running more speed nowadays. Otherwise it just added another fire and bug AND Ice weak Poke. I got Leech Seed off quite a few times, but I'm not sure how worth it it was. It could force switches because of Leech Seed, but other Pokes can do that too. So, go on, rate the team.
  10. You can ONLY use 3 WORDS! for example: (me) There once was. (Unknown) 3 cows sitting. (Unknown2) On 5 babies. (Unknown3) Then the cow. (Unknown4) Miraculously farted up. Unknown5) Massive gas planets. Rules Please use proper Grammar. Make sure the sentence makes sense. And keep it clean. :kikkoman:
  11. Well, I've seen many a disruptive signature to other forums I went to. In case a disruptive signature ever pops up here, maybe you guys should set up some signature rules. For starters, maybe you can apply these signature rules: •Signatures must follow the main rules. (This is obvious, though.) •An image in a signature cannot be longer than so-and-so x so-and-so. •You signature can only contain so-and-so aount of images. Please don't take this the wrong way; I'm not trying to look like a mini-mod. I'm just suggesting an addition to the rules.
  12. you say you should never stretch the page, but the project pokemon wiki has almost ALL of the pages stretched ridiculously horizontanally. this makes it hard to read the contents. and it breaks the rule that i have made bigger and bolded to show you which part I am reffering to. EDIT: sorry to annoy you, there is no contradiction. I will now fix the one wiki page I was reffering to.
  13. Thanks for the sticky! I thought I'd kick off the Wi-Fi Battling and Trading section with some of the more common rules found in people who battle via Wi-Fi. Generally, in almost any Pokemon community where people battle, a standard battle follows these rules: Overused: This means any Pokemon in the Overused tier or anything below it can be used. Most communities tend to conform to Smogon's tier list because the battling community on most sites is relatively small. PP is currently using Smogon's tier list and rules, and we're running battles on Shoddy. We will be modifying tiers and/or rules as PP sees fit, if necessary. You can see a complete list of Smogon's tiers and where a Pokemon lies here. A very BRIEF explanation clarifying what each tier is: Uber: These are deemed the centralizing Pokemon in the game. It's a "ban" list for everything else, and the tier is basically unstable. The only requirement to be "Uber" isn't based on pwoer, but based on overcentralizing the competitive game. Overused: The most used Pokemon and often the most powerful. They're usually able to run diverse sets that fill several roles. Some Pokemon might fluctuate in and out of this tier, but there's a way to prevent an OU Pokemon to fall too low just because of low usage. BL: I don't know exactly what "BL" stands for, but it's essentially a "ban list" for the lower tiers. No matter HOW low usage of certain OU Pokemon go, this tier kind of assures that they won't fall to Underused and destroy it. It's not really a tier because you can't have a "BL" match. They compete in the OU environment, but usually aren't as reliable. Underused: The least used Pokemon. These Pokemon tend to have lower stats and limited use outside of their tier. They can run more diverse sets inside their tiers because they don't have to worry about centralizing threats like Heatran and Scizor. Neverused: Pokemon that fall below UU. Yep, there are Pokemon that can't even be viable in UU. There is also NFE or Not Fully Evolved. Many NFE Pokes are basically weaker versions of their final evolutions (Kadabra, Haunter). Many have slight stat differences that will let them serve different roles as their evolved counterparts (Electabuzz, Magmar). A select few (Scyther, Pikachu, Porygon-2) serve unique roles that make them basically entirely different Pokemon. This isn't REALLY a tier because NFE can go anywhere. If you are basing your battle off of some other tier list, please specify and make sure it's publicly viewable. If someone wants to play an Underused battle (UU), or Never used battle (NU), then any Pokemon in the higher tiers are banned. But those should be specified. The clauses or rules that are generally enforced in a standard battle are: Species: No two of the same Pokemon on one team. That means you can't have two Porygon-Z. But you can have a Porygon2 AND a Porygon-Z. Sleep: The opponent can only put one Pokemon to sleep at a time, and can only put another to sleep upon the original one waking up or being KOed. The opponent is allowed to put a second Pokemon to sleep if it happens incidentally (Effect Spore) or if a move like Rest is used. OHKO: One hit knock out moves are banned. Evasion: Moves that increase evasion are banned (Double Team, Minimize). Accupressure is still allowed. Team consists of 6 Pokemon. Freeze: No more than 2 Pokemon can be frozen at any one time. This cannot be enforced in the Wi-Fi environment. However, it is enforced on battle simulators such as Shoddy Battle and is an optional rule on Pokemon Battle Revolution. This is usually implied, but nothing illegal. That means anything that can't happen within the confines of the game. Certain egg moves can't be combined with other egg moves, or an egg move can't be present with an event move, and so on. If you're using Pokesav to make a team, it's best to check with an online Pokedex (or this thread) to see if your team's moves and abilities are legal. While the following rules are not considered standard, they may be utilized in certain communities or at an individual battler's request. While it's impossible to list ANY rule someone might come up with, I'll be glad to write down the more common ones (and any others you all bring up): Item Clause: Every item attached to a Pokemon must be different. This is enforced in official Nintendo tournaments, the Battle Tower, and among some battling communities. Hax Items: Hax Items are items that are based on luck. Quick Claw, Focus Band, etc... They only have a chance of working. They usually aren't widely used because 90% of the time, it's like holding nothing at all. But I know this is a standard rule over on the Serebii forums, so might as well post it. No Legends: Banning of all legendary Pokemon. Self explanatory. Usually utilized by newcomers to the world of battle. But all legendary Pokemon aren't created equal, and more than a few are actually quite weak. No hacks: Some people care about the origins of Pokemon they use or face in a battle, some don't. No new forms: Thanks to SCV, we all have a code so we can use alternate forms on Wi-Fi. But for those who don't use a flashcart or Action Replay, or are against hacking, they may be against it. Hence this rule. I know my non-standard list isn't complete, so let me know if there's something you'd like added, and I probably will edit it into the post. Part 2: How to ask for a battle. "I want a standard battle": Correct way of asking for a standard rules battle. "I want a standard battle with [insert alternate clause(s) here]": Correct way of asking for a standard battle with additional clauses. NOW if you want to do a non-standard battle, as in you DON'T FOLLOW STANDARD RULES TO A T, then you need to list every single clause you are playing by. For example, this is incorrect: "Standard battle with Garchomp allowed": Garchomp is uber and breaks standard rules. It also basically tells your opponent what Pokemon you'll be using. The proper way to ask for a battle that allows Garchomp is this (ideally, you should just do an Uber battle, but): "Battle with evasion/OHKO/sleep/species clause, one uber allowed.". and a final example: Bad: Standard battle no legends Good: No evasion/OHKO/legends/whatever. In other words, don't use the words "standard battle" unless you're actually following a standard battle.
  14. Site-wide Rules Abide by United States laws when on this site. Project Pokémon is hosted in the US, and as such all material on it must abide by US laws. This means you cannot upload or link to pirated material (copyrighted material which you do not have the rights to distribute). If you mention having a ROM in any of your posts, we will assume that you backed it up from a retail cartridge that you own. If we have reason to believe that that is not the case, any offending posts will be removed and the poster will face consequences as detailed below. By extension this means there should be absolutely no discussion of pre-release leaked ROMs or Pokémon distribution ROMs as there is no legal way to obtain one. Do not post inappropriate content. Posting pornographic, vulgar, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate media is forbidden. Swearing is acceptable in moderation (read: when used as a part of normal speech to add emphasis or meaning); in excess it qualifies as inappropriate content. The correct course of action is to use the report button () if on the forums or PM an operator if on the IRC. As always, be patient. Do not impersonate anyone. Follow the rules of any tournaments that you enter. We do not support or condone cheating at the expense of others. If you give us an explicit reason to believe that you are cheating or plan to cheat in a tournament, sponsored by Nintendo or otherwise, we will issue a ban.
