  1. (I was fully aware of that...) It was not an issue of holding off on the release date, it was a matter of cutting costs to increase the low sales numbers. I am sure you are fully aware of the PS3's debut price of $600. Because it was that high, not many bought it because it was so expensive. I know I wanted it but didn't have $600 burning a hole in my pocket... And in my opinion, it was a good buisiness decision, Many don't criticize it on old systems because: 1. old shovelware is not current, and thus not on the minds of most (it's water under the bridge) 2. Nintendo had more higher rated games on their systems (as did Sony, SEGA, and Microsoft) However, they do criticize the Wii because they are not many good games on it. Do not say good is subjective, I know perfectly well. But when I say good, you understand what I mean. A game that is not glitchy, frustrating, or a waste of money. An example of a current good game is Super Mario Galaxy. How many other Wii games do you know of that stand up to that quality?... According to this backup of the official US N64 game listing released by Nintendo before they released it, there was only 292 Nintendo 64 games in the US.(Yes, I counted them.) Even the NES only had 794 licensed games according to Wikipedia. (There is one numbered link to the right of every game listed. Scroll to the bottom and see the last number is 794.) Please don't exaggerate the numbers to try to prove a point. And just because you own 6 doesn't mean that there aren't more that are are good quality games... This is the definiton of shovelware according to urbandictionary.com: "1. shovelware 1. Software that is hastily made, without proper testing, and 'shoveled' down consumers throats in order to make some quick cash. 2. Software that is preloaded onto a computer, that does nothing but slow down performance and does nothing beneficial, but is added in order to increase price or add appeal into purchasing a computer. 1. Battlefield 2: Special Forces Expansion Pack is a recent example of shovelware; it causes CTD's, system failures, massive performance decreases, and addresses NONE of the original game problems. 2. Frank bought a computer just because it had a lot shovelware preloaded onto it, and now it takes 45 minutes to start up." (The parts in italics are the usages...) Take note of the first definition in particular. That sounds like a bad game to me... (It isn't just limited to Barbie and movies, Superman 64 is included as well...) Although as closely knit the two are, I do see your point. But even the "challenging" games can be "frustrating" if you get stuck. Especially if you believe that you have systematically exhausted all of your options.
  2. 1. Yes, but that would take forever to find all of those addresses... And we'd need a lot more data too... Including the PID... 2. As far as I know, geckoOS uses ocarina (or use to) and the regular app itself has it... And if you are refering to a code manager program, there are a few out there... I don't think Ocarina is even being worked on anymore... 3. {See #1}
  3. I disagree... IWnet sucks... Consoles have better (simpler) online... Just turn on and play... No messing with servers... And they are usually more powerful...
  4. The Saboteur on PS3 and Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition... The Saboteur for the amazing art style and hilarious glitches every now and then (tell me a Nazi Patrol car continuing to drive up a nonexistent hill and crashing into a zeppelin isn't funny!...) and Fallout 3 for the MASSIVE amount of gameplay and fun to be had...
  5. I would have said otherwise if it was so... I've heard some reports in comments on some of the news articles about how some fat PS3's were working through the bug and some slims were not... The "24 hour fix" was just Sony waiting for the day to pass so that the bug would fix itself... Also, I can personally say that some of my synced trophies were lost and I still don't have them back... And I'm confused. How does Uncharted 2 (trophy enabled) work?... And if your Guitar Hero is World Tour or III then its all the stranger... That might make a difference... I've only heard of English-speaking country PS3's going down, like the US, UK, and Australia, and some other European ones but since i don't speak Japanese yet, I can't verify them... And about the SodiumOne thing, yes, it's Home based... It sends those messages automatically to my friends if I press a button on a menu in the space... I didn't try to send you that...
  6. 1. As long as you have a 2GB or less SD card and means to write on it not via the Wii (or bluetooth in a PC if we can figure out the Wiimote), the rest is free... 2. No offense, but they might be a little bit much for you to buy. When I mentioned the USBGecko earlier, I meant that one or more of us who would be looking for addresses get one, because not only are they not for the average Wii user, they are also not massed produced and thus somewhat hard too get... (I'm still trying to get one...) 3. In most possible cases, it would be as simple as loading GeckoOS on your Wii (very simple) and running a code in it... The code would change values in the Wii's memory like an action replay... 4. I didn't think you sounded that way at all... 5. You mean in D/P/Pt?... If the stats are different than what they would naturally be, the PC will always reset them...assuming that you are referring to the stat edit menu in Pokesav?...
  7. Me too... And the remade sounds were really nice as well...
  8. Oh! You're on to something there! If we did that, we could find the encryption address(s) for the Wiimote! It'd be much easier to disable a function if we know where it's located...
  9. Definately better than Trozei or Rumble... Just wish it lasted longer than it did... I revisited it on my Wii last week (and probably today now that PSN is giving me s***...)... I had it beat in about 5-6 hours... Mew and all...
  10. The Playstation Network has been down for two days now. Playstation 3 users all over the world are having difficulties pertaining to error code 8001050F; some of the more significant ones being: 1. All online features pertaining to the Playstation Network are not functioning.* Any game with an online mode of any sort will not be able to connect online. 2. Trophies are getting erased!* WARNING: DO NOT PLAY A GAME WITH TROPHIES AT THE MOMENT!!! ALL OF YOUR TROPHIES FOR THAT GAME WILL BE DELETED!!! 3. NEW GAMES WILL NOT START!!!!!!!!! Just purchase Heavy Rain?... Or MAG?... Too bad, you can't even boot them!... *Can personally verify with my CECHK01 Rumor has it that this error is caused by faulty coding of the internal clock to register a leap year every two years instead of every four, causing an error in the OS when it gets passed the date as the OS isn't programmed to handle a date of February 29th on non-leap-years... [EDIT]: The bug has passed, but if data was lost, such as trophies and save data, it is unable to be recovered...
  11. Just to clarify, what we are trying to figure out how to do get some Pokemon out of a Pokemon Battle Revolution save file... One way or another... Also, Pokemon battle Revolution does not trade pokemon or give them back to DS carts either... Therefore we are trying to determine how to extract the data to a usable form from a Pokemon Battle Revolution save file... (Or possibly some other file like the Wiimote data... Now that codemonkey put the idea in my head...)
  12. The easiest way I know is to use a USB Gecko, or some other PC to Wii attachment, and use its remote dubugger to find addresses... When combined with a USB Gecko, GeckoOS runs a PC Debugger has dumps the Wii's memory to your PC for view and searching...
  13. K, it's as I guessed then... Then an easier route may be to generate a code for use with geckoOS that causes PBR to save unencrypted save... And codemonkey, when you say that the pokemon are encrypted (and shuffled), is that on top of the PBR encryption?... (So many levels...)
  14. If the capabilities are so great, why did they need motionplus? Even with motionplus, I was disappointed with WiiSports Resort. I got it remembering myself drooling over the swordplay that I'd be able to do, only to find out that all I could do was swipes and holding B to block...my little brother STILL pwns me by swinging the WiiMote like a maniac, not thinking about anything... Hell, half the time he doesn't even look at the TV... PS3: They fixed most of your problems with it. If you walk into a gaming store and buy a shiny (or matted actually) PS3 today, you're very likely to choose between 2 or 3 different sizes of storage space in a PS3 Slim. Although there is no backwards compatibility for PS2 games as of yet, they have had BC for PS1 games since day 1. And contrary to popular belief, Sony puts a lot of effort into the online part of the PS3. And, other than when I was using my neighbor's wi-fi which was laggy in the first place, I've experienced NO LAG online in any game other than the buffers in games like Soul Calibur IV. Wii: Yes, I fully understand what you mean by every console ever has had a ton of shovelware. But be realistic here. How can you honestly tell me that the Wii has a normal ratio of good quality games an shovelware? Yes, the NES had a vast library of shovelware, but most of it was still enjoyable to play and hard to beat at that! Just play Rush'n Attack for 5 minutes and tell me it isn't a Contra/Ninja Gaiden shovelware clone. But it still is extremely addictive and no pushover. The only reason for the "superior" graphics on multiplatform 360 games is because the graphics are the same for both because the developers, instead of making two sets of graphics for the two consoles, make one set of graphics and then port them over to the respective systems. The PS3's then get upscaled from 720p to 1080p making the textures and such LOOK more crisp and defined on a 360 because the upscaling blurs them essentially. But on the other hand, look at FF XIII. On the 360, it needs 4 discs! And still, FOR FF XIII THE 360'S GRAPHICS AND AUDIO WILL NEED TO BE COMPRESSED ON THE 4 DISCS TO FIT. YES, COMPRESSED, WHICH WILL DISTORT THEM! The PS3, on the other hand, needs only a single Blu-Ray disc and doesn't need any compression whatsoever. And have you seen the previews for it!? Graphics aren't everything either. The PS3 still excels in raw power. I take it you've heard of MAG? it runs at 30 f/s and is only 720p. But that's to compensate for 256 players at once. And to anyone who says that they don't ever leave 256 player in the same area, think again. Last night, I was in a match of Domination of SVER (my team) defending against Raven and we had two crafty Officers in Charge. They ordered both factions to attack the same area and IT...WAS...AWESOME!!!!! ( ) They are getting a lot of RPG's online in the Playstation Store...
  15. lol... I wouldn't expect too many more... We are on a Pokemon forum after all...
  16. I haven't looked at the app in depth, or know the IOS well enough yet... Is the save you extracted encrypted in PBR and Wii encryption, just PBR, or none?...
  17. So, PBR does encryption then?... FYI, Poryhack, there is some Wii homebrew that can extract Wii save data in an unencrypted format whether you are normally able to back it up or not so, in this case, we'd only have to worry about breaking the encryption on PBR, not the Wii itself... Either that or we could use Gecko OS to create a code save data WITHOUT the encryption... (Before you question the plausibility of it, look into the Brawl SD loader code to see what is possible through RAM hacking...)
  18. I'm not certain but maybe Battle Revolution stores the data for pkm files transfered to the Wii as pkm files... Maybe someone could compare data for their boxes and party with their Wii save?... If the data isn't encrypted, you could just search for the exact pattern if I'm not mistaken... I'd do it myself if I had the game... If this isn't solved by the next time I go to my cousin's house, I extract my save for PBR and do this myself...
  19. Oh how I wish I could be so optimistic as you two... Unfortunately, I'm too bound to my realism-based ways...
  20. Not really... I believe the notion of eastern countries being in the future due to an earlier time zone to be false and here's why: Say I fly a plane westward from New England (Northeasternmost United States). I stop on the West Coast of the United States within an hour of departure after passing through three time zones. If I left at 6:00 AM, and traveled for an hour, it would be 7:00 AM, but because I traveled westward through 3 time zones, each of which is an hour behind US Eastern Standard Time, I theoretically would have lost 3 hours and so the theoretical time would be 4:00 AM! My point being, if I were to fly around the world in a westward fashion, I'd be able to theoretically go back in time and if I were to fly eastward bound, I could travel into the future, so to speak. So take this as one of two ways: 1) Time is a human product and that because humans and their creations are not perfect, and have their flaws, and we have a loophole in time on our hands (do with it what you will...). -OR- 2) That this shows that our perception of time is broken and that instead of believing in time travel based on flying around the world, we should just think with common sense for a minute that the Earth is a single celestial body that exists as a whole and that we all experience time at the same moment and we are just fooled by the proposition of night and day starting at the same number time-wise (for the convenience of travelers...) due to different positions in relationship to the sun. (I just realized how bored I am right now...)
  21. Yes, you did... There's your post... Guested was right, wasn't he?... Man, how some people age in half a year...
  22. Ah, Christmas has finally come! Out of my list, I only got the laptop... even though it's only 6GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive, I can't complain... I did get Family Guy: something, Something, Something Dark Side on Blu-ray... (If anyone else feels like saying if they got what they wanted, go ahead...)
