If you want to add encounters that are legal, but aren't currently displayed as legal in PKHeX, you should submit a legality parsing report here with the relevant info: https://github.com/kwsch/PKHeX/issues/new/choose If you found some encounter that PKHeX doesn't already know about, the best course of action would be to report it so everyone can benefit, not just your personal copy of PKHeX.

I don't believe any tools like that exist, but it looks like some folks did begin dumping the ROM and looking into how it works, even managing to reverse engineer parts of it: https://dmitry.gr/?r=05.Projects&proj=28. pokewalker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wthwr__YJFE

Pokemon Yellow Save Isn't Recognized by PKHEX
Atrius97 replied to EbolaGranola's topic in Miscellaneous Help
It looks like you had multiple glitch pokemon in your boxes. After withdrawing the glitched starter Pikachu into party slot 6 (cannot be released, since it behaves as a starter Pikachu) and deleting several others until the boxes appeared no longer glitched/didn't contain any remaining glitch pokemon, the save loads: YellowSave.sav Chances are PKHeX just had trouble reading your boxes with all the garbage data that was there.- 1 reply

Alternatively, try unblocking the zip file under Properties before extracting PKHeX/unblocking the PKHeX.exe file. Also make sure you have the prerequisite .NET framework installed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "double ability". If you're referring to Strong Jaw or Rock Head, just change the Ability dropdown in the Main tab of PKHeX. If you mean "I want it to have two abilities at the same time" that's not something PKHeX can help you with, because PKHeX can't change how the game works. You would have to create a ROM hack of the game that allows two abilities at once. Pokemon have one ability at a time (with the exception of Calyrex, but that's a few specific case).

PKHeX's PKM Database Clones only possible mismatch-error
Atrius97 replied to PrometheusG's topic in PKHeX
Hi, please don't double post for no reason, one post is plenty, and posting the exact same thing a second time won't get your question answered any faster. I've hidden and locked the duplicate post. Please continue here. -
Can shiny genesect jpn event exist with english name?
Atrius97 replied to ArceusGOAT's topic in Pokémon Legality
For starters this is incorrect. I'm not sure where you got the idea that "cloned events become english" but that's just outright not how "cloning" something works. Typically cloning an Pokémon results in an identical copy, not a language swapped one, regardless of method. (PKHeX, dupe glitch, cheats, etc.) There's zero reason for the language ID to change when every other value is retained when making a clone. Secondly, there was no need to revive a post from 8 months prior to post essentially just "misinformation with nothing to back it up". I'll be locking this topic now, this conversation has been over for the better part of a year, and the topic was explored in-depth, it didn't need a "last post". -
The only "de-evolution" that has ever appeared in the games is Mega Evolutions reverting back to normal, (which are just battle-only forms, not actual species evolutions). For a Pokemon to be legal, you can only revert it as far back as the "untouched state it was originally obtainable in". If they distribute a Raichu as event Pokémon, it's already in that "untouched state", you can't make it into a Pikachu, because that pokemon "wasn't a Pichu/Pikachu in it's earliest legal state". You can only legally alter Pokémon into states that they could possibly be in if you were playing the game legitimately. There is nothing you can change in PKHeX to make that legal, because "legality" is determined by what's possible to do in the game. (If you figure out some secret ingame mechanic to de-evolve Pokemon in an unaltered retail copy of a game, please let us know :P)

The PKHeX download is available here: You do require some method of extracting and restoring your savefile to be able to use PKHeX with it. If it's a Switch game you also have the option of using a Sysbot.NET bot to trade pokemon to you, but if you want to use PKHeX directly, see the tutorial section to learn how to manage your savefile: https://projectpokemon.org/home/tutorials/save-editing/

[Request] - Old Pokemon Black .SAV file
Atrius97 replied to chu95ck's topic in Saves - Files and Requests
Answered here: -
If I remember correctly, that box is indeed Pokémon that were trapped when the Dream World shutdown. I had spoken with Kurt a while back about adding Misc read-only slots for HGSS Pokewalker and also Dream World Pokémon for the purposes of allowing users to recover them. HGSS Pokewalker does have an ingame recovery method (On the Pokéwalker menu, hold Down + X + L to manually retrieve your Pokémon), but that only works if you still have the game, if your savefile is orphaned from the cart then you'd be out of luck. There's no ingame recovery method for Pokémon left sleeping in the Dream World post-server shutdown, so in this case PKHeX is now the ONLY recovery method available for lost Dream World mons.

If I remember correctly, there are a lot more values and flags that would need to be altered to actually set your streak to a different value when you enter the tower, however the streak values recorded in your trainer card will obey whatever you set RENSHOU_SINGLE and RENSHOU_SINGLE_NOW to. Even if the tower says you're on battle 3 and battle 4 when you go to resume your streak, if you edit your streak values on the trainer card to 42 first, it should record "battle 42 and battle 43" in your streak record.

Make sure the Micro SD card is not locked to Read-only mode. There may be a small tab on the of the card that says "lock". If you are using an FTP client like Filezilla to move files without removing the SD card from the 3DS, make sure it is set to Binary mode, not ASCII mode. When exporting the save from PKHeX, you don't try to export directly to the SD card, export the file to a location on your computer, (like your desktop), THEN copy it back to your SD card. If you've done all of the above and it still corrupts, then make sure PKHeX and Checkpoint are both up to date, or try JKSM instead of Checkpoint. Keep an unedited working backup of any and all savefiles you don't want to lose.

Is the emulator generated Save file the same as the real console?
Atrius97 replied to DaseR's topic in Miscellaneous Help
Exactly. The question is less "is there minor inaccuracies" and more "There probably is, but if it doesn't occur anywhere that really affects the game/would appear fishy to PKHeX, the online servers, or other players, who cares if there's minor inaccuracies?" -
Is the emulator generated Save file the same as the real console?
Atrius97 replied to DaseR's topic in Miscellaneous Help
It depends on the game and emulator. Some emulators have emulation inaccuracy that would cause you to be able to achieve things said emulator that would not be possible were you playing on official hardware. As one example, some emulators do not handle the random number generator the exact way it would be handled on official hardware, meaning it's possible to encounter a Pokémon generated during an RNG state that isn't possible to achieve otherwise. Some GBA/NDS emulators I remember had issues dealing with VBLANK and were generating Pokémon in Gen 3/4 games with stats that couldn't not legitimately be encountered except when playing on an inaccurate emulator. (PKHeX is even able to catch these "impossible" Pokémon during legality checks, flagging them for PID mismatch, as their stats don't match any possible RNG state the game can produce.) As another example, BDSP uses the Switch's internal clock (the RTC) to determine whether when time-based events should occur, and whether to incur a penalty for trying to alter the clock. On our Discord server, we determined that current Switch emulators do not properly emulate the RTC and was not properly assigning the date/time values within BDSP's save structure. TLDR Yes, you're likely to have minor inaccuracies, you just have to hope they don't occur anywhere that would set off red flags, so to speak. -
Is there any way to recover this old Platinum save?
Atrius97 replied to captaingrovyle's topic in Saves - Editing Help
After checking my cart, yours appears to be a slightly different revision (mine has CPUENOJ41, two carts can have the exact same code, there's photos online of carts with the same ID as mine), but authentic. If it isn't, it's a very good copy. From here: Reddit post on the topic So we can rule out counterfeit copies for the moment. -
Is there any way to recover this old Platinum save?
Atrius97 replied to captaingrovyle's topic in Saves - Editing Help
It's possible that your cart is not legitimate, bootleg/reproduction carts often have this issue of not being recognized properly, because their internal structure is not identical to an official copy. You may have to find a NDS cart reader/writer to properly extract what you need, and even then it may be difficult to obtain your save in a readable format, and potentially even harder to edit and then replace. There are many guides online you can find to identify counterfeit NDS carts, especially Pokémon games. I suggest double checking your cart's legitimacy, as reproduction carts have even been accidentally resold "as legitimate" by certain retailers who couldn't tell the difference. -
How to set Pokemon with "authentic" EV stats
Atrius97 replied to Ollietaro's topic in Saves - Editing Help
EVs can be gained and removed through multiple different methods: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Effort_values Yes, wild Pokémon start with no EVs, and I'm honestly not sure any ingame encounters start with an existing set of EVs. The only "fishy looking" set of EVs would be a total of 508, as it would require a player to specifically use Feathers, or KO a Pokémon with an effort value yield of 1-2 to stop just short of the true cap, instead of the more naturally occurring total of 510, especially considering there's no stat difference between a Pokémon with 508 and 510 total EVs, as the final 2 EVs are not enough to affect the stat itself. -
Battle Memory Ribbons are not possible on several Pokémon (mostly mythicals, but some legendary/"special" pokemon as well), as they are entirely banned from participating in the battle facilities. See the following pages below for lists of Pokémon that cannot obtain Gen 3/4 Battle Facility ribbons, and are therefore ineligible for a Battle Memory Ribbon in later generations where those ribbons are consolidated: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Battle_Tower_(Generation_III)#Restrictions https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Battle_Tower_(Sinnoh)#Restrictions https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Battle_Frontier_(Generation_IV)#Overview

BDSP PKhex Help : How to add Ball Capsule to menu?
Atrius97 replied to Dormin22's topic in Saves - Research
Stickers can be edited under SAV > Seal Stickers. If you want to regain your missing extra ball capsules, you'll have to recatch the Unown forms and show them to the child in Solaceon town. I don't believe the flags for that are documented for you to edit directly, but it should be fairly easy (if a bit tedious) for you to document those unlock flags. -
Backwards transfers are not intended behavior, legality issues are to be expected.
-
My mistake, I wasn't aware it was possible to leave that section blank. I assumed it would have some form of default value.

The console does not allow you to "not set a sub-region", although you may find a build or developer option in Citra that does allow proper emulation for that. If you cannot find/that option doesn't exist in any available Citra builds, then you may want to attempt to RNG abuse your TID on your actual hacked 3DS/2DS, which should be possible. (It may even be possible without custom firmware, but you already have a hacked 3DS or 2DS) Alternatively, complete your RNG on Citra, and then adjust the savefile in PKHeX to have the proper country/region data. (Although this defeats the purpose of RNG abusing your TID, as you could just edit it in PKHeX to begin with. You're already altering the savefile at this point)

New user, first impressions and a legality error
Atrius97 replied to JustHere4Coffee's topic in PKHeX
As an example, an illegal move may be possible to correct by leveling up the Pokémon, changing the form, adding it as a Relearn/Egg Move, by checking the TR/Moveshop flag for it, etc. Without context of the user's intentions, there's no logic that could point out one specific option and direct the user to do it, and listing "any and all potential fixes" would be a nightmare.
