  1. I tried googling for info on how it works and couldn't find any info. So my idea of the top of my head is that when going to play Ruby or Sapphire using box, is that it sends a multi boot rom to the GBA that checks the cartridges header to know what game it is then sends that info and the save game back to the GameCube to be played on a emulator, This would explain why it only supports those two games for playing and the others only for storage. Considering they would be the only games ready at box launch to have the roms embedded into it. Basic storage is more basic and was a standard so others could be supported just for storage. I was wondering if that info was correct it may mean the roms could be swapped out like virtual console injects. It may also require editing the multi boot rom to check for the target games headers also. I know if it's possible,I world enjoy one that played Emerald and Leaf Green. Hopefully someone with more knowledge would say if this is possible. EDIT: After learning how to extract the files from the iso image I found that I am probably correct. I found 4 ROM files (2 revisions of each game) that when opened in a emulator play fine. It even has a file named GBEmulator.arc which supports my idea of how this works. Then it took a little bit to learn what the arc files were and how to open them. After extracting them all the only other file I found that my system identified as a GBA ROM was agbbin.bin which came gbarom.arc (plus a second identical copy from gbaromD.arc) I assume that is the multi boot ROM. I just have no idea where to start to edit it to change the cartridge detection to Emerald or Leaf Green or Fire Red and have it use those games. I assume at the least the other games could just replace the Ruby and Sapphire ROM's and the multi boot ROM just has to be changed to search for something like Emerald then have it open whichever ROM was replaced. Sadly I can't code even a Hello World in anything more then bash which isn't even a coding language. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. So I'm just curious how this happened. I'm guessing it was a bug in pk2pk which I found out after that it has some in its transfer. It just must not of updated the met level. My fault for the one time I got frustrated Sat the time waste transferring them through the official way 6 at a time. I just tested and changing the met level to 30 makes it legal. But I'm thinking since it was just a live dex filler I'll release it and get a new one. Rather then edit my save. Thanks for explaining the problem.
  3. Here is the Pokemon, note that it should be fine as I have never genned a Pokemon and just use PKHeX as a read only info tool to check IVs etc. This Pokemon should of been left unused in a livedex since gen 4 so it would of been leveled up in Diamond. In all my time Playing Pokemon only two times have I done writes using hacking software so it's easy to remember what should affect it. (One was removing a nickname on a different Pokemon and the biggest was using pk2pk to mass transfer some Pokemon into gen 5) This Pokemon was probably part of that mass transfer. I'm using the newest PKHeX and just changing the current level to 33 marks it as legal which is why I assumed you just had the wrong games moveset. 404 - Luxio - CB3D0C826ED8.pk6
  4. I was checking some info in a gen 6 save and noticed that I have a level 30 Luxray that came from Diamond and knows the move Crunch. This is legal as Shinx learns Crunch at level 29 in Diamond and Pearl but your check is based of a different games as every other game has it at learned at level 33 at the earliest.
  5. I read how it works, and the seed to generate the Jirachi is just taken from the checksum of a section of the RS save. So it is possible on retail. A program exists that lets you take your save backed up from a cart and it will scan it and tell you what you have to do to get a shiny which the change is just a frame perfect save time. It includes a LUA script to do the save auto on a emulator but you could also basically RNG it on a real cart since it is just saving on the right frame. After the save is prepped it can be restored on a cart and get the Jirachi using retail hardware.
  6. What about using bank to insert a Pokemon first then swapping it with the starter in the party.
  7. Since you are using a Mac, you don't have to bother with using a Hex editor. Use the following command from a terminal in the same directory as your file dd if="Pokemon - Emerald Version (USA, Europe).sav" of="Pokemon - Emerald Version (USA, Europe)-new.sav" bs=128k count=1
  8. I would think Deoxys would be roughly equivalent of Celebi for rarity. A mythical that can has a one exception game (OK OR/AS is technically two) with unlimited one per save capture. So just one step lower since the old events are not exclusive to Japan. It just sucks that it can't be shiny outside of old events. Are you going to include stuff like non-mainline games like Mew being permanently available in Pokemon Ranch?
  9. I read on Twitter that if using a old save you just have to rebattle the e4 to trigger the event. You don't need a whole new save.
  10. I did get a email about the event and if you click though it to the learn more for DIalga and Palkia it lists the movesets including the fact they have slightly different movesets between SM and USUM Link to movesets https://www.pokemonlegendary.com/en-us/distributions/detail/
  11. Thanks to the work of a developer named akkera102 the old SendSave GBA multi-boot home brew now works with a modern device so no more dealing with obsolete parallel ports. You just need to use a Xboo style cable but connect it the the Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins. Instructions for the what wires go to which pins and the software is available at https://github.com/akkera102/gba_01_multiboot The instructions only show how to compile the multiboot executable for sending regular roms like games. Adjust it to compile SendSave.c for the executable required for SendSave to work. I personally tested it with Leaf Green and it works great.
  12. If anyone also wants to check that on a 3DS itself using a NTR overlay can find it here https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-gen-1-pokemon-vc-wild-encounter-dv-ntr-overlay.459869/page-17#post-7152679 Use from that post for now not from the first post but read the first post for instructions. Also Nature is only shown for party Pokemon not wild. Also it's for all gen 1 languages already and planned all languages for gen 2 but English only currently
  13. As expected glitch Mew can't be transferred.
  14. It had been so long I had forgot about the ball not being saved. Sad about the shininess because my earlier idea of why they would make them shiny is going to eventually happen after gen 2 VC is released and someone is going to lose it when trading anything like Gyarados from gen 2 to 1 then transfer directly from gen 1
  15. I tried out the new Transporter with one of my if traded to gen 2 shiny Pokemon and it isn't shiny in gen 7. It didn't even retain the ball it was captured in and reverted to a basic Pokeball. I would of thought basic stuff like that would be retained.
  16. Servers are working now, I'm just getting my Mewnium Z now! Make sure to connect with your primary game first if you have multiple since the crystal gets added to it and you only get one per Bank account.
  17. I do plan on testing it out since I have a couple shiny Gyarados (only plan on transferring one though) from two Silver play throughs and some shiny Dittos from the gen 1 glitch that I plan on transferring. (I have a EMS flash cart and mega memory card so I look forward to having my ACTUAL first shiny in the new games) Sadly I have no expectation of the glitch Mew being allowed through Bank and the official new event ones are guaranteed perfect stats in gen 1 so definitely not shiny. So I expect no shiny Mew's. Although I would praise Nintendo if they went against all precedent and allowed glitch Mew's through Bank. On that note I wonder how people with the new event Mews are going to feel if the know perfect stat Mew gets transferred and ends up with randomized IV's with only 3 perfect.
  18. I wish they would take info on if it's possible to get a shiny if it had would've been in gen 2. Until actual release I'm going to assume it's possible due to the logic that eventually gen 2 VC is going to be released and have shiny pokemon and they're not stupid enough to think no one is going to trade the shiny Gyarados to gen 1 (possibly to do the shiny Ditto glitch) which has a official stance of not losing Gen 2 shiny status of returned then doing the back transfer of the Gyarados directly from gen 1. Could you imagine the complaining on social media if it came through to gen 7 as a regular Pokemon.
  19. "Level up at electric rock" which is in a cave right after the fourth Kahuna.
  20. For ORAS you can use the demo to unlock it. Not sure about XY easily though.
  21. I would like to use PKHeX to easily find any possible shiny Pokemon in a gen 1 save without having to inspect the stats tab of each one individually. Even though gen 1 does not have them normally could you make PKHeX show the star and have them marked as shiny in future generations. (I do believe any of them will also be shiny in gen 7 when the time comes) If you have them marked then I can easily find any possible ones with the box data report and sorting by the shiny column. This feature would be a great way to warn people who might not know they got extremely lucky and got a shiny.
  22. I'm looking for confirmation on if the initial infection requires you to actually attack or be attacked by the wild Pokemon. I think I read that it does. I ask because after shiny hunting in the Friend Safari I noticed the last shiny Ivysaur I caught had Pokerus. The previous catch didn't though. Since I didn't have a full team the shiny did spend some time in my team after capture but since I was shiny hunting I immediately ran from anything that wasn't shiny, so I think it may of been the source of the Pokerus infection that spread through my team. I would be curious if so to know the odds of finding a wild shiny Pokerus infected Pokemon. It must be high to have both rare events on the same wild encounter. If Pokerus is 1/21,845 and the FS shiny was 7/4096 (NBA_Yoh's stated odds with the Shiny Charm) Or could I of just caught it during a no touch encounter that I ran away from right away? Extra fun fact I have previously caught Pokerus three times with such bad odds (gen 2 and two different gen 3 games) but I have never saw a full odds shiny and only started seeing them at the better odds of 1/1365
  23. If you can backup your save you can inject them with a save editor. Depending on what you have there is multiple ways to get the saves on and off carts. Like. A hacked 3ds with the twlsavetool homebrew A unhacked 3ds with either Pokemon Transporter or Dream Radar and the twlsavetool homebrew. Launched via homebrew launcher A nds flashcart with homebrew
