  1. Haha. Looks matter to me. I'm not going to be using fugly Pokémon, no matter how good they are in my game. (Although, power instead of looks might be better if I was competitively battling and had a strong enough incentive to win.) I try to balance my team on how good they are in battle and how aesthetically pleasing they are. Pick the strongest from the ones I like. :3
  2. Wait. To change a shiny colour, wouldn't you have to ROM hack? Just wondering, but why would you want the punches? They're physical in the 4thgen.
  3. I love books. Hmm... Especially Goosebumps and Animorphs as a kid. Harry Potter series Narnia Where the Red Fern Grows - Randomly picked this up in my school's library. Interstellar Pig, and Parasite Pig - This was actually a surprise. The first was on a summer book report list, and everyone knows that they never put interesting books on them. [Or put baby books on it. They put The Sorcerer's Stone on the 6-8th grade list when I read it in about 3rd or 4th. Wtf] Loved it so much I got the sequel. Manga: Read Or Die Read Or Dream Angelic Layer Chobits Love Hina ... Umm. A lot of the rest are books I read when younger and are either dragon related or just plain kiddy.;; Or they're series I haven't finished yet.D: I haven't really done much reading for the more adult audience, I guess.
  4. Thanks, guys. It's pretty easy to learn. I've only been drawing for a few years. I just still have problems with drawing humans. ><
  5. Ironically, I think I stopped watching it when they first showed the episodes with them in school. Could've been an age thing, though... Not sure. I honestly want to find good cartoons on TV... Maybe I've been spoiled by the plots anime have or something. As a reader, a good plot is almost necessary to keep me interested.
  6. Yeah, pretty much just doodled this up as an excuse to create this thread. Better art coming later. I have more but... Hm. It uses one of my personal characters. "Realistic" Charizard... First time attempting flames. For a BS'd picture, I think it came out pretty well. Decided to see if you guys prefer him with or without the blue reflecting off his nose. Reflecting background colours is supposed to give the affect of being "in" the place they are in, instead of it just being a background but I'm not sure if it really looks better or not. In case you're interested, one in a state without scales, and the other without outlines (also missing the outline of the eye). The third both no outlines or blue. Old sketch of a cyborg Charmander. Oh, and a DP/Avie I made of a photo of a drawing I doodled in a book...If you recognize this, you now know who I am. (I might find the high res version later.) Managed to salvage it. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa265/Zafurra/e3fd512d15b6eda81a9fdf4b6280c29d.jpg The Quilava in my sig was also edited by me... Even though it's imperfect.
  7. You could always bring up character map.
  8. O_o Isn't ditto a naturally made Pokémon? Either way, I have no problems with creating AIs (Porygon is entirely made of code, and doesn't even breath. Seems to be an "artificial" Pokémon.) with code or using gene splicing techniques in a religious sense. Doesn't seem like believing you're divine to me, just using knowledge that you were gifted with. Buuuuuuuuuut... This isn't the place for this debate.
  9. It was surprising for me too... I mean, I don't think he was that old to be dying naturally, or for death to be expected. I never really listened to his music [not that I really listen to music much in the first place...], but I think I'll still kinda miss him being alive.
  10. This is actually pretty hard, since I have a soft spot for bugs... Probably Scizor. Since... I just think it looks cool, and is more curvy and lithe looking. Then there's inside joke reasons...
  11. Before I vote, is this based purely on their stats and movepool?
  12. Except that I don't have a closet. There's technically one in my parents' room, but I can't get in there. Perhaps the bathroom... Hm.
  13. Why not use the actual character ∞ instead of a picture? I think I'm the only person in this thread to still vaguely like Pikachu.;;
  14. I have mixed feelings about Ed, Edd, and Eddy.. I used to like it a lot, but then it got kinda... old. Kinda the same with Spongebob, but at least it provides mindless humor once in a while.xP I've also noticed that most cartoons airing now are rather...Dumbed down or something. I must be a kidult too. Animal Planet, Discovery, Science Channel... Nom.<3 I just don't tend to like actual TV series with live people in it. ...Dangit, now I need to find a conveniently overly dark picture for this post so that it doesn't seem like off topic spam.
  15. Sorry the list is so long... I'm not gonna bother going into shinies. Or female versions.>> [Looking at you, female Pikachu and Heracross] I dislike most of the "cute" pink balloonish and eggish Pokémon.>>;; And some of the baby Pokémon. Geodude and Graveler... The second one explodes too much and I don't really like how it looks. Rofl Hypno Jynx, Smoochum Togepi, Togetic [Can only like this guy in fanart with the proper style] Aipom, Amibipom Croconaw Marshtop Slaking Medicham The regis...>< Chimchar's evolution line... Maybe except Infernape. I just don't like monkeys. Purugly Tangrowth Magmortar
  16. Mm. I don't like most Sinnoh Pokémon Probably... Torterra Luxray Lopunny [shiny] Stunky and maybe Skuntank Lucario Yanmega [+shiny]
  17. Waaait. Whaaaaat? Isn't Mightyena based on.... Hyenas? It doesn't look much like either though. More like a generic canine. I just hope the sprites of the Pokémon I'm gonna use don't look too bad.><

..Canadian...xDDDD Yeah, I've heard that joke before. I live in an area where everyone's second language is either Spanish or Creole. I feel so left out. Lol But yeah, part of the problem with Americans learning a second language is if they're monolingual, they'll probably be more likely to think "everyone speaks English anyways" than someone else who's bilingual by the time they'll be required to learn it, and they're only going to see High School language courses as useless. Most high school courses suck anyways.
  19. Hmm... I don't really change my team around too much and try to use Pokémon I think are stronger as opposed to liking for aesthetic reasons with some exceptions, so it'll probably just be my starter for most of the in-game time, or whichever teammates I'm currently training/using as a lead. I would've preferred to not have the lead Pokémon be the only one that could follow you, but I'm still happy. Maybe they'd let you use any of your party in the next gen. In particular: Quilava/Typhlosion Serpentine Pokemon like Rayquaza or Arbok. I just wish Arbok was more useful. Generic favourite quadrupeds like Suicune, Luxray, Houndoom, Ninetales, and Eevee/Espeon/Umbreon/Vaporeon/Jolteon. Rattata? Tropius <3 Gardevoir <3 Zigzagoon <3... And any other favourites or "cool" Pokémon for the lulz.

Definitely. You knew that they had to use a second voice actor in the English version? Except Rosetta Stone doesn't teach or clarify on grammar. Methods like this won't help with much past the beginner level. I don't think that you should start out with anything too complicated, I still like the idea of starting out simple, but you should definitely move on to the harder stuff when you're able to.

I might check youtube later. Swahili I think? I've never checked Lojban. I've always heard of it as more complicated than Esperanto.
  22. If you are using the actual cart, you have to use your AR. If you are using a Flashcart, then you put the Wonder Card in your .sav file using Pokesav.

Ohh. Interesting. Thanks. How does spoken Irish sound like? Can't really find too many sources on that.><

For "deep and soothing", I like German to fill that role. This might sound odd but I really love Scar singing "Seid Bereit" in... a movie. What better way to practice a language than look up translations in childhood movies? I like the style of teaching where it's indirect, and the student needs to draw conclusions from simple things, but at the end there's clarification on grammar and such. Such as looking through pictures that are labeled with the nouns, and progresses to sentences describing what people are doing. So you eventually go from " A man" to " The man is driving his red car." For beginning with the language, anyways. *snicker* I await the day I confuse German und and English. @CuleX: Native German and you're thinking of Lojban? Why Lojban? @Telos: Yes, it's kinda sad it's a dying language, one of the reasons I want to learn it... Now I know who to bug if I ever take up the language. Although, I said in my first post for you to translate anything not in English. You could paraphrase it to not include your name, perhaps?

How is that funny? Not the ultra high pitch generic anime girl voice but... Lol. I'd be happy with speaking it and being able to write/read the hiragana and katakana with the occasional kanji. Kanji sucksss. I think some of the appeal of languages to me is the "foreign" aspect, and I'm not so sure how actually understanding it would affect it. @Jiggy-Ninja: I understand the importance of culture in how it affects and morphs a language, and sometimes I find it interesting, but some people just presume that you actually have to be actively interested in their whole culture to even want to learn their language... And some people learn a language just because they like the culture, which is okay I guess, but I don't know. I see culture and language as two separate things with slight overlaps, so I don't see why people make them so connected when they don't need to be. And I agree completely with the way schools teach languages as sucking hardcore... They don't teach in a way that keeps you interested in learning... Forced learning is never fun. It's useful once in a while, but if it's the only way you're getting your information, it's going to be tiring. My school is odd and it seems like it doesn't even cover grammar... It basically gives you sentences, tells you how to conjugate verbs, and leaves you on your own for the rest of the grammar and wants you to translate paragraphs. I'll end up nothing but a translator from this method. I'm not learning how to build a language from it's roots.
