  1. And there lies the problem with this entire thread.
  2. The key(s) one would would need to mimic a DS are somewhere in the ROM though right?
  3. If you mean can you just "snap" it back together, no. The two pieces are sealed by glue which must be broken to open the game, and the way its designed there's nothing else to keep the pieces from falling apart. If you have a steady hand and some superglue with a small nozzle you can get it back together good as new.
  4. The games only have Japanese and Latin character sets. Korean as well if you've got one of the Korean language games. Unfortunately for some people there's no Greek, Cyrillic, etc.
  5. Have you looked at all into how you're actually going to do this? This sounds a lot more like a full fledged new game than a ROM hack. The engines aren't even the same. If you're serious about doing this you should program it from scratch with devkitPro.

  7. How about going to the thread that was made for this?
  8. The protocol has been dubbed Ni-Fi, it's basically standard wifi with some proprietary tweaks, and it's the same as that used in DS-DS local communications. There's some documentation here, but it doesn't seem as if its very complete and interest seems to have dried up long ago. As far as I know Wii homebrew has never focused on the DS communication aspects, so I don't know what kind of groundwork would have to be laid before one could start to write homebrew that utilizes DS communication.
  9. It's not the first time this idea has came up, but there hasn't been any progress on making one.
  10. The Plus edition was pretty much a response to HGSS, it's the old one that requires soldering, just like if you were to dump using a flashcard app.
  11. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. On the other hand, maybe you could add some functionality that is currently missing, such as HGSS save support on the AR DSi?
  12. I oughta make a commission off those things. I'd be rolling in money. TT
  13. Well, people generally get a flashcard so that they can tote all their ROMs around in one easy package, so you're sorta right. However there are a few apps that will let flashcard owners backup and restore save files to retail games. Trouble is none of them work with infrared cards, but I was just leaving open the possibility that one will in the future.
  14. Transfer your pokemon from the walker back to your game.
  15. I've been accused of being verbose but this is borderline ridiculous even for me. No offense meant, just lighten up a bit! If you're comfortable with soldering you can try this for only the cost of soldering supplies. If not or if repeated soldering and desoldering just doesn't too practical to you, then your only option for the time being is to buy an NDS Adapter Plus. It's not looking likely but there's always the chance that a new homebrew app will come out that'd allow you to just use a flashcard as you can with most other games.
  16. You need a program called CrystalTile2 to decompress the arm9. Once you have it load the entire ROM, then click the button that has a picture of a DS to bring up the filesystem. arm9 will be right at the top; right click and extract.
  17. Hey all, I've been busy at work getting a nice banner file for the ROM. What that means is the ROM will have a new title (internal, not filename) and a new icon. The working icon is this: A titlescreen is next on my list, I'll consider these ideas as well as input from anybody else.
  18. Lenient or not, this is a tried and true way to check if a pokemon was made with pokesav. Of course it's trivial to fix if you know what you're doing, but then again so is everything. We're only talking about 136 bytes of data here. The strings Kazo provided (with the "random" bytes) are a fairly potent hack check and should not produce false positives (if you consider the pokemon being hacked as a positive). EDIT: Just thought I'd throw in that they are, as far as I know, not used in official checks for legitimacy.
  19. Use it purely for accessorizing? Not something I'd recommend but hey I don't judge. ;P
  20. Here in the US they can be bought directly from Nintendo's website. I advise you to check Australia's version and see.
  21. Just thought that I'd drop in and add that you may find some interested programmers on the IRC channel.
  22. The pokewalker shuts itself "off" after a minute or so of no button activity. It still monitors steps however. There's no need to take that battery out.
