    I downloaded Earth just to check and be disappointed. My altitude is about 164 m.

    Pokemon/Game freak left their their hands making that game. -__- Not only was it ready for the next game to be out - Platinum, But there is no way to update it. Not to mention that because of this people that paid for the games still cannot connect even after so much time. We can at least hope that the game-play footage we saw before Hg/Ss was some sort of update (Even though it is probably a new version for sale). I doubt that this specific one will have an upgrade of any kind. With that being said i the new Johto remakes will probably never connect to it.
