  1. Oh, I was wondering how were they gonna handle this once G2 VC was released. Good thing I've already got my shiny female G1 Umbreon. But, how is Kaphotics gonna handle this in PKHeX? Are my shiny female Eeveelutions gonna be flagged as illegal?
  2. I was using the dumping method to ease my Battle Tree scouting and I took the time to check for this thing that has been in my head since that time I dumped the Shell Smash Kommo-o. It's nothing important but it's the kind of thing that doesn't let me sleep at night.

Back then, I dumped it from a recorded battle since the odds to enter the Battle Tree and encounter it again were just about zero. As a result, it had the "Sun." OT, something that I highlighted when talking to BlackShark, he replied: "It's interesting that it uses a generic OT! That's not the case for every NPC. For example Kukui's Rockruff doesn't have any OT at all", but thing is, when battling in the Battle Tree itself, the OT isn't actually there. The ID and SID are in there and are kept when the battle is recorded (alongside all the other data, including PID), but the OT doesn't appear until that happens. I take it the reason is the game needs to generate an OT in order to keep Pokémon individual data saved (otherwise, it'd be randomly generated when entering the vs. Recorder and that'd bring serious issues), so it enters the generic "Sun." OT (guess it depends on the language, "Sol.", "Soleil.", etc; but not on the version, Moon still uses "Sun.").

Take this Golisopod as an example:

    Spoiler

The left one appears in the RAM while I was battling Guzma in the Battle Tree. The right one appears when watching the recorded battle (or having a mock battle) in the vs. Recorder. As you can see, the only thing that changes is the assigned OT, since even the PID (that and the EC are identical for these Pokémon, just like any pre-gen6 Mon) is kept.

So, the point is, Battle Tree Pokémon are actually no exception to the "NPC Pokémon have no OT at all" thing, they just have an OT generated in order to keep their random data (ability, gender, PID) when the battle is recorded. It's not that interesting but I wanted to post it anyway xD

So wow. Please teach. Much amaze. :D. Sparkly eyes.

  3. Well.. haven't used the theater anyway, but I feel sorry for the poor thing. I mean, I wouldn't even care if it was a Pokémon I don't like, such as a Jynx..
  4. Yeah, but these three were catchable in-game back in Gen 4, and since shiny lock wasn't a thing back then, anyone could have them. As an event exclusive Mon, we western players have to either hack or trade to get that shiny Genesect. I wanted to have it in a Beast Ball but then in turned out to be a gift and therefore Poké Ball-only. A Cherish Ball's gonna be a bit more interesting at the very least.
  5. Well, if that's the case they should finally give us a shiny Genesect or something like that outside Japan. Neither Rocky Lycanroc nor Clovis Salazzle are anything that special. Unreleased shiny stuff and neat event-exclusive moves are what matter.
  6. I always thought is was programmed in all 3 games, haha.. since I've never researched that much about Gen 2, this caught me off guard. And, well, guess this means it's time to lose all hope unless there's a miraculous Crystal VC release. What are the odds of that happening? I don't think it's impossible since we had Yellow VC already.
  7. Oh, seriously? Never actually tried it in GS, so I had no idea
  8. To be honest, I'm a tad disappointed. Not only did I actually want the Silvally event, but this most likely means we're not gonna have the GS Ball to catch Celebi in-game this time either. Furthermore, still no shiny Celebi available.
  9. Huh, if it's TCG-related it's most likely not gonna be shiny, but at least we might get some UBs along with it. Maybe giving it/them some exclusive moves? (I.E: I really like Pheromosa but has no coverage against ghosts, give her Knock Off at least)
  10. They do if you edit it frame by frame. The blue is most likely just a part of the background the gif was taken from, probably Pokémon XY PokéDex, due to the background color. I tried to do Pheromosa with GIMP, but I ended giving up (good thing since theSlayer did her anyway and now I'd feel even more frustrated if I was still into it). Far too complicated for someone who has used only MS Paint for editing their whole life.
  11. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but the blue doesn't seem to belong at all -- she's got some translucency due to the glows on her wings, which, as you can see on this in-game pic, are some sort of translucent pink (being possible to partially see the background through them):
  12. Hope it's shiny. I know it's not shiny-locked in-game, but still..
  13. Not moi. I'd probably learn how to use Luma if I had a 3DS, but.. a computer alone can't do that much.
  14. IIRC, there's even a unused track for them in RS, so they might have been supposed to be catchable. Why did ther remove them? No idea, but as the guys above said, you could just replace the Eon Pokémon encounters for them. Of course, the third one wouldn't appear, but... well, pick your 2 favourite ones, or just gen the 3rd one later.
  15. PKHeX doesn't check region for legality. Take this as an example: There's a difference, but it's not like that. Take the same example from above, if I change its region back to japanese, it's completely legal, since it meets the requirements to be so. But it's not legit, since I genned it. So, for short: Legal: A Pokémon whose data is obtainable within the games. A legal Pokémon may or may not be legit (I.E: You catch Kyogre, but it turns out to be adamand, so you go and change its nature to a better one, such as modest; since it is possible for a caught Kyogre to be modest, it is still legal, but since you edited it, it's not legit anymore). Legit: A completely unedited Pokémon. Legit Pokémon are always legal. Even if a legal Pokémon it not legit, it's usually safe to use it online, since as far as I know there's no way to tell wheter a legal Pokémon is actually legit, doesn't really matter.
  16. Yup, there's that "specialized shop that only sells Poké Balls" in Aquacorde, you can actually catch that Pidgey before the catching tutorial.
  17. Seems to be the case. I've seen that Pidgey bypassing randomizers when static encounters are not changed.
  18. Oh, now that I see, that data perfectly matches the Pidgey I mentioned.. Now, as for the Scatterbug... I'm not sure if it's the case, but looks like a possible preset first encounter for Santalune Forest. That, or it might have been meant to appear at Route 2 before being changed for the Pidgey. Do you guys remember your first random encounter in Santalune Forest? I have yet to properly play XY, so I have nothing to say about it.
  19. I might be wrong, but that may be the preset Pidgey you find as a "random" encounter the first time you enter Route 2. The first Pokémon supposed to appear in there is a Lv. 3, Keen Eye, shiny-locked Pidgey.
  20. Hm... I know some games do have that "anti-cheating" clock thing, but I don't remember that happening in Gen 4. I deliberately changed the date and time in HGSS in order to get all leaders' phone numbers for rematches at once, and IIRC nothing happened. As for Gen 5, I don't really know. Never checked it. But it's not like there are that many clock-based events on both of these gens. It's not like there's some legendary you can catch only at a certan hour of the day, or day of the week. If anything, it may temporarily affect the berries growing in Gen 4.
  21. Still, it's 200 Poké Balls what they're giving away, and if they keep the gift Balls from the captains in USUM, we've already got a fair amount and variery of them, I don't remember having to buy any Balls other than a few regular ones during the whole story. I'm mostly like that, I tend to use regular Balls most of the time. But then, Beast Balls appeared and I liked them so much that most of my Gen 7-born Pokémon are kept on them.
  22. I don't really get it. What's the point of having money in-game if they're gonna give you a bunch of Poké Balls anyway? We've already got Pokémon Refresh to heal status, and if you're too lazy for that, there's Poké Pelago to harvest berries to your heart's content. Lately, the only real use for money has been buying a bunch of repels to get through caves and water areas, and of course, player customization.
  23. So I take it they're just randomly fished Magikarp and Gyarados. Well, let's wait 'n see what Kaphotics says.
  24. It's always seemed so strange for Darkrai to be a mythical Pokémon while its counterpart is just a regular ol' legendary. Maybe it's just me, but it feels so uncanny. Partially. While things such as PID, gender, ability, and sometimes IVs* are randomly generated, all of these Pokémon have a preset nature, moveset, items, and most times IVs*. *IVs are a particular case, since, as far as I remember, non-Super Battle Subway and Maison use Pokémon with randomly generated IVs, whereas "Super" modes have all set to 31. Adding to what wrathsoffire76 said, Smogon keeps a full list of these preset characteristics (be it for rent Pokémon or for NPC ones), not only for Battle Factory but for every battle facility. Serebii and Bulbapedia have these lists as well, and while the latter ones are easier to navigate, Smogon is usually a bit more technical.
  25. Gen 3 met place and level I guess. As I said, PKHeX is probably taking them as hatched Pokémon, hence they can't have any Ball other than the regular one. Of course, if it's true that they weren't modified at all, this might be an error with PKHeX itself.
