  1. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?14026-Guide-How-to-generate-Gen-V-Pokmon-in-PokGen
  2. Is there any way to make sure it retains a certain ability when it evolves?
  3. I have a question. When you select a legal ability for the pokemon to have, then allow pokegen to generate a PID when you save, does it generate a correct PID for that ability? Or do you have to set ability 1/2 somewhere?
  4. I have the problem, I'm running windows 7 64 as well. I dunno what's causing it though. I disabled avast and the problem persisted so I doubt it has anything to do with my anti-virus.
  5. That could be it. I mean, it was on a retail cart, before I got my NDS adapter plus, before I used any homebrew to back up and alter the save, no action replay or anything either. (I decided to play through the game without any hacking at all for the first time) It was a legal cart that hadn't been touched by any external device at all, and I still couldn't upload the musical photo with my starter pokemon in it.
  6. I had a problem of not being able to upload musical photos before I even tampered with anything in my game at all. It was a retail cart, before I received my NDS adapter plus and hadn't been touched by any device in the slightest, but it said there was a problem with my musical photo and it couldn't be uploaded. so I dunno if it's even pokegen or hacking related at all.
  7. Interesting thing is, I got errors with not even being able to upload musical photos before I even tampered with anything in my game at all.
  8. They're not alone. I've had this problem since the beginning and I'm still having it.
  9. Original DS should work fine too. As long as it has a GBA slot. But if you're using the NDS adapter plus then any DS should work since it's only a usb thing that connects a game cart to a PC.
  10. Realhotstuff.com is a good place if you want to go with the flash cart route. Free shipping and fast delivery usually. Everything I've ever ordered from them has come in 3 days. I can tell you though that the homebrew I linked to does work with black/white, I've backed up and restored saves from the retail cart with no problem. I forgot to mention that I believe the homebrew only works on a DSlite you'll also need a slot 2 device to back up a save from a retail cart. They sell EZ flash 3 in 1s at realhotstuff.com as well. You may be able to use the wifi-method of backing up your saves with that homebrew, but I don't have a DSi so I can't tell you if it actually works or not. consolesource is where I ordered my DNS adapter plus but I haven't received it yet so I can't tell you how reliable they are or if it works with black/white for sure. They're located in Canada which is why I ordered from them since ordering from the company itself would have it shipped from china. But I can say that someone on the cycloDS forums said that their NDS adapter plus worked flawlessly with black/white so there you go. If all you wanna do is back up saves from a retail cart then this might be your best choice.
  11. In order to back up and restore saves from a retail cart, you need a DS flash cart such as the supercard DSTWO, acekard, etc. You ALSO need a microSD card (has to be micro) that is inserted into the flash cart, and a microSD card reader to plug it into your computer's USB. You also need to put this homebrew onto your flash cart: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?12405-A-tool-to-backup-HG-SS-saves As this is the only homebrew that I've successfully backed up and restored a save to and from a pokemon black cart. OR, you could just get this thing: http://www.hkems.com/product/nintendo/0907.htm I don't have it yet myself but it apparently works with black/white.
  12. I was able to get pokemon through by generating their PID like normal. However, I can't get two in that know Dark Pulse as an egg move. Are egg moves just banned or what? The pokemon are bred and hatched like normal, but I gave them dark pulse after they hatched, dunno if that could have something to do with it too. I noticed that when editing my hatched pokemon in pokegen, "as egg" is not checked under the met tab. Could that have something to do with it as well?
  13. I don't understand why it happens I just know it happens.
  14. It works fine on my laptop, which still has windows xp. But on my windows 7 64 desktop, certain pokemon names won't update when I click on view data, it either shows a blank space or the name of the last one I had selected..I tried installing the japanese language pack but that didn't appear to work.
  15. This happens because nothing happens that triggers the dex entry. This happens if you use pokesav too. You need to make it into an egg and hatch it, or trade it to somebody and have it traded back in order to get the dex entry for it. This is why I only edit exiting mons or clones of them, instead of making new ones from scratch. When the pokedex editor for b/w is done, you could simply add the entry for the created mon in pokegen.
  16. Nope, I always beef my bred pokemon up to level 80 with pokesav/gen, and use a rare candy or two on them to evolve them if necessary. (just good enough to outclass all the in-game trainers but still be challenging) My process goes sorta like this... I breed a pokemon I caught or obtained legitimately with a ditto. If it's a legendary, I clone it with pokesav/gen. The original pokemon remains unaltered and used for trading fodder. (That way I can edit mons but still have legit ones to trade to people who don't want hacks) After I get an egg/clone, I then edit the offspring/clone...I reduce the egg steps so it hatches fast, I change its IVs, nature, EVs, level, hold item, and (if it didn't get them rejected) attacks. I also run the PID generator thingy to get a "legal" pokemon after I do the edits. I also always clone/edit from within the boxes and not my party. That way I always get pokemon as legal as possible but also beefed up for battling. I never make pokemon from scratch or anything, I always edit existing ones, clones of legit ones, or eggs. (ensures I don't end up with mons I have no pokedex entry for)
  17. I added a 5th gen egg move to a hatched poke and still got rejected...I added roost to a pokemon that learns it by level up and still got rejected..there has to be something else. I also never make pokemon from scratch, I only ever edit legit ones that I actually hatched in-game. I usually edit the egg steps so it's an insta-hatch when I take a step, and edit their IVs, EVs, nature, and attacks, but editing attacks gets me rejected. I even do the PID finder thing.
  18. Yeah, I never have to alter data but it seems to happen randomly, not necessarily with the same mons
  19. So I figured out two reasons why my edited mons were getting rejected from random wifi battles and the GTS. One was because of their name, having invalid characters in the name made them get rejected, something that accidentally happened due to a bug in pokegen causing trainer names and nicknames to not load right when viewing data...it would cause my pokemon's trainer names to go totally blank sometimes, something I fixed just by using pokesav instead. And if you're using an english patch, you have to nickname all your pokemon in-game. The other is attacks. I can edit IVs, EVs, nature and ability freely, but no matter if I use pokesav or pokegen, changing a move gets the pokemon rejected, always. So I'm wondering if there's any way to figure out how we could change a pokemon's move without it becoming illegal and getting rejected on wifi, if there's some value you haven't found yet that changes when a move changes, that you could program to change correctly when changing a move?
  20. I do. It isn't just trainer names either. When you view a pokemon's data, the nickname of the pokemon and the trainer name don't always get loaded and it sometimes shows what the name of the last pokemon was instead, so when you set it they end up with the wrong name. Seems to be random, sometimes it decides to load sometimes it doesn't.
  21. Any word yet on solving the mystery of the disappearing trainer name I mentioned before? I cloned by victini and the trainer name vanished on the cloned one. I didn't edit it in any other way.
  22. Seems you're right, I changed the IVs, EVs and nature of a pokemon without changing any moves and I was able to random battle. EDIT: I noticed something. Whenever I edit a move for a pokemon, in-game, it messes up its trainer name. It just completely vanishes and there's a blank space instead. Though it also happened to one pokemon where I didn't edit its attacks for. Dunno why.
  23. That's cool. One other thing, when using the PID generator, when you press OK, can you have it fill in the nature, gender, and ability too by any chance? I have no way of knowing for sure which is ability 1 and which is ability 2 either. I also noticed the hidden power info in the PID generator shows a different value than the one under the stats tab even after you hit OK on the generator
  24. Changing a pokemon, even just a move, gets it rejected from random wifi battles. Any way to fix that?
