  1. Thanks IR for updating IR-GTS. I just tried it and it works very well. Plus, the whole DS crashing to title screen thing seems to be gone! No idea if this affects anything, but have you tried taking out the spaces and ( ) in the file name?
  2. Codr and I worked through this problem, and came to the conclusion that the problem is only on my end. I confirmed that conclusion by trying 3.0b20 on my laptop, which ran it just fine without error. We couldn't figure out what was causing the problem, since my desktop is completely updated with all updates, and it runs fine on the other computer. So I don't know. But now, with Kenpari reporting the error, it could be something? Kenpari, are you having the exact problem as I am? Also, for the record, my desktop is Win7 x64 with all updates, while my laptop is Vista 32 with all updates. I don't believe that's the problem, though. /shrug.
  3. I've been using .PKMN files, not .sav because I'm working with a retail game, not an emulator or ROM or Action Replay. So, I don't think that's the problem. I'd have wanted to test this issue with an earlier version of 3.0 beta, but I haven't found a download link yet.
  4. Okay cool. Yeah, I'm definitely up for helping test this out. Just let me know.
  5. As the title says, I'm running into the problem of the OT name not saving while editing/making .PKM files. I can enter a name (e.g. Bob) in the space for the OT Name, hit save, but upon exiting PokeGen and reloading the .PKM file, the OT Name is not saved. And, to be clear, I'm looking to save a .PKM file, not edit/save/create a full .sav file. I've searched the forums and Google, and have not seen anything regarding this issue. Then again, 3.0b20 seems to be a fairly recent build. I have tried the following: 1) PokeSav, both B/W and HG/SS versions retain the OT Name. (But they have other problems.) 2) Importing a Gen 4 .PKM results in the same problem, in that the original OT Name does not appear, nor does it save properly. 3) When downloading a .PKM file from my game cartridge (retail, not Action Replay or whatever) via Pokecheck, PokeGen will not display the OT Name. PokeSav, does, however. 4) I saw some posts in the forum stating that you have to "Right Click -> Set" for the value to be saved properly, but I've tried this in various combinations, including before and after entering the OT Name. This has not worked. 5) I've tried an older version of PokeGen, specifically v2.312, and the problem is NOT present. Granted, I was only able to test this with Gen 4 .PKM files. 6) I've tried using the PokeShifter program, which shifts Gen 4 .PKM files to Gen 5. The OT Name still does not save. 7) Using these Pokemon with a blank OT Name, I've tested them in my retail game. As expected, they're treated as traded Pokemon, so they receive boosted exp and their nicknames/names cannot be changed. So, has anyone else met this problem? Any comments?
  6. You could give PokeCheck a shot, though it tags your Pokemon so you cannot trade them on the GTS (to prevent cheating). Alternatively, you can follow the Gen 5 GTS Research Thread. They're working to figure out the proper protocols. Also, Infinite Recursion has updated his site (IR GTS), indicating that an update to IR GTS for Gen 5 is in the works.
  7. Edit Okay, just kidding, that doesn't work. So my problem is that the name of the OT doesn't save. I can enter a name (e.g. Bob), save the PKM file, but when I go to reload the file, it'll have been left blank. And, to be clear, I'm not saving a Pokemon save file, but just the .PKM file. Can anyone help me with this? PokeGen 3.0b20 Edit2 Did some quick testing. The OT name is not saving when I create a new Pokemon from scratch, nor is it saving when I edit an existing Pokemon. It also doesn't import the OT name when I import a Gen4 PKM file. Also, when I download a Pokemon from my game (retail cartridge, via Pokecheck), the OT name is blank. However, when I use PokeSav, the OT name imports properly. I went to the Name Rater, and have confirmed that the Pokemon isn't recognized as from me, even though the SID and Trainer IDs match my game properly. I also get boosted exp. Edit 3 I've tried the Right Click -> Set thing that I've read about, and unless I'm doing that wrong, it's not working. Edit 4 I went ahead and downloaded PokeGen v2.312, and the OT name saves properly. Edit 5 I'm going to create a separate thread for this issue later, if it's not been addressed by the time I get back. Edit 6 I've created a separate topic to keep the discussion focused: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?14136-PokeGen-v3-0b20-Problem-OT-Name-not-saving&p=117563
  8. Well, I emailed the creator of IR-GTS a couple of days ago, notifying him of this thread, so hopefully we'll see a response sometime "soon."
  9. Ah, interesting. As I don't know a thing about computer programming (it's not my field), I wasn't sure if that was enough information to work with. I will refer the developer of IR-GTS to this thread, and perhaps he can start updating. Thank you again for the work you've put into this.
  10. Well, what about just something to connect the PC with a retail cart, ala IR-GTS? Edit IR-GTS info
  11. I registered for the sole purpose of saying Thanks. I really appreciate the effort you guys are doing to develop the Gen 5 GTS. The Gen 4 GTS made Heart-Gold so much more enjoyable (having an HM Mule makes the game a lot better, in my opinion.) So, thank you again and keep up the good work! (I wish I could help, but I have no programming experience or expertise. )
